Having now frequented First Watch a lot more, is become one of my very favorite breakfast spots! I've tried many things on the menu, and I haven't had anything I didn't love. Their specials are consistently delicious, too. I always ask for the breakfast potatoes to be well done, however, since that's the one way to guarantee they are crispy. I'm a big fan of their juices, too, which are always a refreshing option if I'm not feeling coffee or tea, or want something sweet with a savory meal. read more

How is this place not averaging well over four stars on Yelp? It's the bomb! I was debating the convenience of a $14 bacon and egg breakfast at my hotel or hopping across the street to First Watch. The "meh" rating gave me pause, but the food photos convinced me to get off my butt. Very glad I did. Don't be put off by the healthy vibe, the first word on First Watch is delicious. This was a decent experience. Our waitress was very attentive and even gave hot water with lemon to go (the day my sister came in, it was really cold!). The breakfast: eggs, sausage, buttered toast (Ed..from Ed, Edd, and Eddy..haha), and potatoes were all good. I came here this morning for breakfast and as expected it was busy. We got seated quickly despite the crowd. We waited awhile for our drinks and my daughter never got her cup of ice for her hot chocolate. We finally got our food and my youngest daughters food was wrong. It was more than what we expected so that was OK. The bad part is that we got our food one person at a time. I was the first to get mine and respectably waited to eat for everyone else to start. By the time everyone got their food, mine was cold. The waiter immediately brought us the ticket which was all wrong. Then, she checked on us 1 time, never clearing our table as we ate and refilled drinks one time after we chased her down. Did I mentioned the bacon was under cooked? It wasn't a good experience at all. So I give them 3 Stars simply because every other experience here has been a good one. Hopefully next time will be back to normal and better. read more

We have had good experience in the past 6+ visits. The service and food were great even when all seats were filled and Yelp waitlist is 25 minutes. Highly recommend this place for breakfast! Great, fresh selections with super foods. We went to this place two days in a row, supervising gem of a place in horse country. There are so many good choices from chia seed power bowls to Florentine Eggs Benedict. We even tried one of their fresh squeezed juices. While we were there we also placed s to go order for a few others that couldn't make it to breakfast and they included their to go coffee as part of our unlimited coffee while we were there. First Watch is my go-to breakfast and brunch place for consistently good menu items! This opinion is tainted by my love of convenience though, as I live very close to the Broadway location and can essentially walk there. But service is always fast and friendly and if you join their Sunrise Club, you'll regularly get coupons by email. For what to order, I think you can't go wrong with any of their pancakes - huge, fluffy, and delicious. However, I tend to lean towards savory things like the First Watch Eggs-clusives. I love all their Skillet Hashes; they have a variety of options and are super filling. I recently tried their Farm Stand Breakfast Tacos (pictured here) and they were A+ (though a little smaller than I expected). Minus 1 star because I'm passionate about brunch and First Watch just doesn't have the inventiveness of other menus that I'd give 5 stars, and neither are their dishes particularly standout delicious. I've been here at least a dozen times now and each time it continues to get worse. Today when we were seated, it was nearly 10 minutes before a server came over to take our drink order. He apologized and told us that he didnt realize this was his table. No big deal, but when our food arrived we were even more disappointed. I ordered Caps, etc. with "over-medium" eggs. My eggs came out over hard, completely over cooked, and there was some black dirt smeared on that side of the plate. The bowl of mushroom caps was completely undercooked, with the middle portion of the serving completely cold. The cheese that was supposed to be melted over the mushrooms was only partially warm, and most of it fully un-melted in shredded cheese form. The worst part was the mushrooms being cold though. Our served apologized for taking so long to attend to us, and said "I'll try to get this out for you quick", but I would've rather had to wait a few extra minutes for a properly cooked meal rather than half of it being over-cooked and half of it being cold. My boyfriend had a pesto chicken quinoa bowl and he said it was overcooked as well. We were in a hurry to make it to another commitment or we would have asked for them to re-cook our food! In looking for a place to eat breakfast I called First Watch Hamburg Place. Jada McDonald answered my call. When asking about the restaurant (being it my first time) she pleasantly answered my questions. Then I asked Jada why her store instead of another and without hesitation she said "the food is amazing, the service is excellent, and if I came now I would beat the rush." I said said sold. She went on to give me the address saying to ask for her when I arrive. Once there meeting her I found her, the food, and the service exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend. This establishment is NOT dog friendly as advertised. There was no one on the patio when we sat down with our well behaved one year old dog and a 9 week old puppy. My partner went to let someone know we were there, as instructed from signs. A girl came out and gave us our menus and all was well. Then, what I presume was the manager came out and asked if my dogs were service dogs. I said no, but they're well behaved. She told me that they didn't allow dogs on the patio or anywhere near the building, even though the my are dog friendly, they are only service dog friendly. So we stood up and I told her we would leave and she asked, "Couldn't you just leave them in your car?" This lady wanted me to leave my dog and my nine week old puppy in a car on an 87 degree day. I am absolutely appalled and disgusted. If you don't want dogs, don't advertise to be dog friendly. And DO NOT ask me to leave my dogs in a hot car. I didn't get to eat the food and I never will. If you're an animal lover, I'd recommend you spend your money somewhere else, there are plenty of real dog friendly places in Lexington. This just isn't it. I'll never be back. read more

I loved their food! I had the traditional breakfast (scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes) I usually like my food very greasy and "unhealthy" but this place took healthy eating and made it delicious. I also liked their coffee and their own type of sugar they had at the table. Excuse my ignorance, but when I'm asked if I'd like coffee and I say I only want half a cup, it would have been great to know that I was being charged $3.99 EACH for a carafe of coffee when between my husband and I, we only had 1 1/2 cups. I ordered a Tri-athlete(?) in which I wanted to substitute the tomato and gr.chile for spinach and parm. I paid $3 for the substitutions. I get it, if I ADDED them, but I SUBBED. Would be curious to see what the charge for the tomato/green chiles would be? Omelet was very dry, the veggies under cooked. Maybe because I never got the pico OR the artisan toast and preserves. So I paid more for a breakfast and didn't even receive the items that came with it, plus $3.99 for 1/2 cup of coffee? When I asked the server at the register, the response was "that's just how they do it"...... I'd be happy to come train your servers on how to do their jobs. Super disappointing. read more

We have been to other First Watch locations and always enjoyed our breakfast. This time, we waited for 10 minutes to be greeted and another 40 minutes for our food. The waiter didn't check on us during the wait so we had to go to the hostess stand to even get more water. We were just about to leave when our food finally arrived. Although it tasted good, everything was cold. The waiter told us they were slammed with To-Go orders which was creating the delay. The Morning Meditation juice is a healthy pick me up in the morning and I usually pair it with the Avocado toast or the Elevated Egg Sandwich. Today was my first time here. We stopped after transporting a patient to UK. I'm an EMT and after a long 24+ hour shift, I needed a good breakfast. We live on the road and any time we can sit down and eat something that's not fast food without being rushed, it's a blessing. I ordered the Floridian French Toast. It's Brioche toast with bananas, strawberries and kiwi on top. It came with a side of blueberry sauce. It was amazing. Honestly, probably the best French toast I've ever eaten. It was a little pricey. $13 and change with coffee, but very, very tasty. I gave 4 stars because my coffee ran dry and my water glass never even got wet. The waitress was a sweetheart, just not very attentive to her customers. Especially when they weren't that busy in the first place. Great breakfast. Service was...meh, ok. jeez this place was horrible. okay, I'm not from KY so maybe I have different tastes, but I'm taking that into account when writing this review. under no circumstances should either the food or the service be this bad. we ate here two times last weekend people at the desk were nice. there were big crowds, especially sunday, but they handled it well. our waitress was rude, made mistakes on our order and couldn't care less. one person ordered a bagel with butter and the waitress asked if they wanted cream cheese, and twice the guest said "no, just butter" it came with cream cheese, no butter two of our egg dishes came out first. we tried waiting for the third, but it was getting cold so we started. we ate slowly, but were still halfway through our meal before the final dish came out. two water glasses on the table for four people and we had to ask for two more and water. when the water came, the waitress just banged it on the table, didn't offer to pour it and the food was not good. Acapulco hash was supposed to come with Chorizo, but if there was any, it was hidden. there was a small piece of avocado though. eggs Benedict Florentine had a handful of uncooked spinach leaves, stems and all, thrown on the muffin. none of the hashes were anything more than potatoes well it was cheap and the coffee was good. but sheesh, there has got to be better options in Lexington read more

Sadly, after visiting this location over a dozen times since they opened, we had to conclude it is not nearly as good as the Wild Eggs: (1) Their choices in the breakfast menu is more limited: (2) the cooking (of pancakes, omelettes, and sausages) is not nearly as good; (3) the service there ranged from inadequate from satisfactory. Only one server who has been there for quite some time can be considered excellent. We have given the restaurants several chances and even a couple of suggestions for it to improve service and cooking in the past months. Meanwhile we continue visiting the restaurant. Our experience today was bad enough to make us not want to return: The apple sausage was burnt and very, very salty. The pumpkin pancake was thick in the middle with a lump of uncooked flour, rendering a pretty decent portion inedible. The "triathlete" egg white omelette is flat with ridiculously low amount of fillings: about three small slices of mushroom, virtually one bite of the onions, and about two bites of diced tomatoes. The fruit cup has three small chunks of pineapples and four small chunks of honey dew. In contrast, the veggie omelette at the Wild Eggs can one up with heaping amount of vegetables at about the same price. The service has always been good and food has always been served hot there. I hope Wild Eggs will open a location in this part of the town. read more
