I came with friends for my birthday dinner and had a great time! We started with the salsa bar, which was a fantastic way for our group to split and sample all the fun salsa flavors on the menu, a great touch for a table looking to try a little bit of everything. The guacamole was also top notch; fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The coconut margarita was absolutely fire with such a unique and refreshing flavor that the whole table loved. For my entrée, I tried the house specialty blue corn quesadilla and it was beyond amazing. It comes with two large quesadillas, and I chose to do one with chicken and the other with mushrooms and zucchini. Everything about it was fresh and flavorful, from the perfectly seasoned fillings to the blue corn tortilla , iit truly made for an authentic and satisfying Mexican meal. Overall, the food was outstanding and the service matched it every step of the way. Such a great Mexican restaurant, I highly recommend! read more

The shrimp tacos were incredible. Highly recommend checking out this place for a chill Wednesday night.

What an awesome find! Went for lunch on a weekday and it was quiet in there. Full bar which was a nice addition. Had a cold Pacifico. Hubby ordered the Beria tacos and said they were some of the best he has had. I had the chicken empanadas and they were amazing and enough to feed two people. Waitress was super friendly and gave us ideas for places to go while we were on town. Seriously considered going back for dinner but wanted to try more things while we in town. The prices were unbelievably good too. It would be fun to see it on a busy night full of life too. Definitely would recommend this place! read more

Always great food and service. Sat at the bar for drinks and dinner while in the area tonight. I had the Shrimp, Chorizo and Fish Tacos and my wife had the Chicken Tostadas. Everything was very good. read more

Wound up at Mezunte Bodega for lunch. Chili Relleno is one of my favorites so I ordered their version. While not traditional, with goat cheese and mushrooms, it was tasty. It came with a side of rice. One super nice guy was working. There's outdoor seating, but it isn't appealing as it's directly out front by the road. 88 read more

Good and not so good. Love the vibe and decor of this place. Feels much different than other Mexican restaurants. Also, the service was outstanding. Ordered chips and salsa app and it was by far my favorite salsas I've had. Everything tasted super fresh and had flavors I've never had before. The Amarilla (yellow one) was truly unique. Margaritas we ordered were good but my spicy cucumber marg I couldn't really taste any cucumber and wasn't spicy at all. I ordered the mixed tacos plus an extra -the presentation of them was outstanding but the flavor was lacking. Got fried and grilled fish, steak and shrimp. The best one out of them was the fried fish. The other 3 were just ok and my grilled fish was a bit off putting. The tortillas seemed to have just been put on plate straight out of package and needed to be heated a bit or something because they were subpar. Overall our group enjoyed this spot but I'd order different tacos. I'll 100% be back solely because of the chips and salsa read more

Mazunte was a lovely addition to the distillery district area. I really enjoyed coming in and enjoying a green chicken pozole especially with the colder weather amongst us. The service is always quick, which makes it a great spot to get lunch. They have a very aesthetic venue, curated with a small and bigger parties. read more

Food: very pleased with the food, authentic and well made. However, I've been two times thus far and they have run out of meat options early on in the night for dinner service. Service: leaves a lot to be desired. Often ignored by waiters, delivered the wrong food or drinks, was not provided cutlery or plates until I asked. Ambiance: no complaints. read more

I came here the other day with my lab group for an end of school year lunch - it was all of our first time! We came at a good time since it wasn't busy at all and so service was pretty standard and friendly. The ambiance is more of a modern vibe with nice wooden and plant touches all around. We all enjoyed our meals and drinks, the portion sizes for the main entrees were huge! The tacos were served on corn tortillas which was nice, but I wish the tortillas were less chewy and warmer when served. The fillings were fabulous though! I had an ague de jamaica and my advisor had the horchata - we both enjoyed our drinks and since they were served in bottles I took some back home with me. Overall, a fun spot! read more

I was the only customer upon arrival and was met professionally by Collin behind the bar while I waited for the rest of my party. Collin was very informative about the menu and offered her favorites as well. Collin also was our server and did a great job. My only complaint is the chorizo that was offered as a take home item was already cooked. I should have confirmed that it was not , I only asked if it was frozen. I buy chorizo regularly and freeze it raw for a few days before preparing. I recommend this establishment for well prepared and served food. read more

These might be the best tacos we've ever had. Husband said it was definitely the best Carne Asada he's ever had. Love love love that you can get a variety. ! We both got shrimp and grilled fish ones, while his third was beef and mine was pork. All were drip down your arm good! We also shared the "Salsa Bar". I think the name is confusing as it sounds like you would pay to go up to like a salad bar kinda thing for salsa, but it's not. It's four salsas that are brought to you with giant tostadas that you break up and dip. All four were so very fresh and so full of flavor. Yum! We sat at the bar for full service, but otherwise order at the counter. We had a terrific lunch here and came back later for just drinks, which was a less expensive option than the Manchester Hotel bar next door. read more

Mazunte was my favorite spot in Cincinnati so I am so excited they opened a location in Lexington. We tried the Al pastor tacos and quesa birria tacos. Both were superb and had a nice amount of heat while still being flavorful. For both entrees and two beers our bill was under $40 which I don't think is too bad. The space itself has plenty of seating. It looked like they have a garage door type of window that would open up to outside bar access from the front side walk. The only reason for the 4 and not 5 star review is the service. We walked in and weren't sure what to do, no one was there to greet us, no sign saying to seat yourself or wait to be seated. There's a counter with a grab and go type of set up and a cash register so we walked up there and grabbed two menus. Eventually someone walked up to the register and we asked if we seat ourselves or order at the counter and they told us to seat ourselves but didn't bother to look at us or say hello. The server offered good and quick service so no complaints there. read more

After discovering the location in Cincinnati I had to try the new place in Lexington! Although the margarita didn't come out of a bucket in a plastic cup like I had hoped it was satisfactory .. but the taco trio I had was fantastic ! I arrived after the lunch crowd and the place was pretty empty.. sometimes the staff mentally clocks out after the lunch rush :-/ which was the case here. But I'm old school and I've had to accept that finding good help isn't easy .. I'm just grateful that I found it and the food was great! read more

Recent went to try Mazunte and was disappointed with the experience; we went in during an unbusy time (8pm on a Friday night) and asked if we could sit outside. The bartender told us to have a seat outside, which we did. We waited 15 minutes and no one came to take out our order. We then moved to the bar inside where we were given water but then not waited on again. We ended up leaving. There was a carry out counter and the restaurant was very clean, so we may try again the next time we're in the area. We understand businesses having an off night and while it didn't look busy, maybe there were shorthanded. read more

Very delicious but pricey. No free chips n salsa here. Parking is free across the street and down a bit.

I went Sunday for brunch with some friends. I didn't take many photos partly because I try to stay off my phone with friends but also when the food arrived it was so good I didn't think twice about snapping anymore photos. The place has a good vibe to it and the very few staff there were super friendly. I ordered the mixed tacos and picked the Al pastor, fish, carne asada and breakfast taco. All of they were great. The chips and queso are excellent and my entire group were very satisfied with their choices. There wasn't a single complaint about the food BUT the service was subpar. While they were super friendly, it was slow. With that said, I'd take slow service over poor service and poor food any day so I'm not going to deduct anything for being on the slow side. This is a must try place if you like tacos and I'll be returning! read more

Can't recommend this place enough! Nate, the GM, opened up on a typically closed day for my group to come celebrate a friend. The food, service, and atmosphere were top notch. Will come back. Was dead when we arrived, but good service and excellent steak tacos.

Super cute and tasty spot! I went on a weekday during lunchtime so, the crowd was very chill. Our server was super friendly and helped us to understand a couple of menu items. I opted for the "pick 3" tacos, and they did not disappoint! I got carne asada, camarones, and Al pastor. All three were seasoned well and loaded with protein, pickled veggies, and sauce, but the Al pastor was the winner...it was super flavorful yet not too sweet. My only little gripe is that the restaurant does not carry flour tortillas. It's just preference, but to me, toasty flour tortillas wouldve taken these tacos to the next level. But, they're going for authenticy lol, I get it. I'd drfirnili return! read more

Good ambiance and attentive service. We ordered the margarita and sangria which were both delicious. The queso and guac were also good options and they give a generous portion of tortilla chips. The food is AMAZING!!! Everything is so flavorful and delicious! The salsa bar is perfect for the table. Each one is unique. The mixed tacos are a good option for wanting to try several. I got the Pescado (beer battered fish) taco, Pollo A La Plancha (chicken) taco, and the Carne Asada (steak) taco. The chicken and the steak were my favorites. I also got to try the Tacos Dorados which were like Taquitos and very good. The service was great from the bar and the cashier. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. They make their own Horchata, Jamaica sweet tea, and Agua de limon. It is decorated so nicely and the bar also extends to the outside! I included a snapshot of the Mocktail options. I got the La Playa which was very tasty! Everything was wonderful! I will definitely be back! read more

This place was awesome! Loved everything about it , the interior, the food, the music playing- the authentic menus. I appreciated the cultural atmosphere and the tacos did not disappoint. We went here to grab a bite to eat right before a concert and it was worth it! We got the quesa birria tacos which were very solid, plus some house margaritas. We were able to walk right over to Rupp Arena after dinner, which was super convenient! We sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice and engaging! The whole staff seems to be friendly. The bar is very wide so you have plenty of room to spread out, which is something you don't always find. The decor is super cute and well put together. Overall a great vibe! I would come back next time I'm in Lexington. read more

I was with a group of 6 to dine here prior to a concert next door. I did not see any option for reservations unless we were a larger party; however, when we arrived, I was asked if we had a resy. They advised that it would be :25-:30 wait because they had some reservations coming in. I did see a long table on the far side of the bar that was open and asked if we could sit there, and we could. The staff seemed to be minimal which made it slower for our service but they did well, considering. I had the chicken tostadas that was served with a side of white rice. Very good. I was not ever provided any silverware so I didn't eat much of the rice but it did seem flavorful despite my assumption that it would've been bland being that it was white rice. My boyfriend had the quesa birria and he enjoyed it.. I had a bit and agreed that it was flavorful. Margaritas were good. One of our friends had the salsa bar order... served with fried tortillas that you break into your own chips. Unique idea with those "chips" and salsa. read more

We loved the food at Mazunte. Started out with the blue corn quesadillas and the empanadas. Both delicious dishes filled with chorizo and potato respectively. I find a lot of times when you get quesadillas or empanadas, the filling is skimpy but here it was delightful. Service was fast. Ordered at the counter; food was at our table in less than 10 minutes along with delicious drinks. Very cute ambiance. The lights and different areas to sit whether you're in there to chill over some drinks or have a bite (seems good for groups btw). Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty dead but I saw another couple at the bar watching the game so yes, love the TV's. Dude behind the bar welcomed us and told us to sit wherever. He came over (friendly dude) and took our order etc etc Anyways, Queso Birria is SO GOOD, filled with meat and a CRISPY shell. That's very important since it has to dip in the consume~ Tacos elDorados were pretty and the toppings made it flavorful but I found the chicken inside to be dry. Salsa maybe could've saved it but who knows. Tostadas are very messy but very good! Got beef and it was cooked and seasoned nicely... salsa would've elevated it ;-) Lime-o-nade thing since it's dry January was VERY refreshing and really made up for the fact that it wasn't a margarita. I don't really go to Mexican restaurants that don't serve free chips and salsa when you first get there BUT this place is super cute and I did like the whole fancy take of this type of cuisine and somehow sort of felt healthier and plated nicely. Def would go again if I'm in the area and the parking is free. read more

Absolutely fantastic, will be back. Everything I we ate challenged our assumptions on flavor and giving us a unique experience. We were instructed to sit and they took our order for us, all the food was out in less than 10min. We ordered the Salsa bar, which is a salsa flight, and it gave some unique flavor profiles that surprised us all and led to a lot of debate on what made each one good. All the tacos we ordered were delicious and well packed. We ordered multiple things to share, had to play a little shuffle since our table wasn't quite big enough to handle everything out at once as some items took up a lot of room. So if you want to do a tapas style, maybe get a table with 1-2 open seats so you have room to put everything. We went on a Thursday night for dinner, wasn't too busy and wasn't too loud. Overall music was at a tolerable level and my hearing aid partner was able to hear the waiters without issue. Much like previous businesses in the slot, it somehow has the most intense A/C and air flow. Bring a sweater if you run chilly. read more

So glad this place has opened! The food was excellent, I got a grilled fish taco, an al pastor taco, and a carne asada taco, and I also got to try the chicken enchiladas as well as their chips and variety of salsas. Everything was delicious and freshly made. You order at the counter and someone brings your food to your table. They also have a selection of products like salsas and bottled drinks you can buy at the counter. The employees are friendly and the service is very quick, it seems like they run a very efficient business. The vibe of the restaurant is really cool too, it's well decorated and they played good music. Highly recommend checking them out, I will definitely be back! read more
