Had breakfast for 1st time in a long time here today w/ my mom and brother. Pleasantly surprised. Not too crowded for a Saturday morning. I went with a new item on the menu - the Barbacoa Chilaquiles Breakfast Bowl. It was pretty good - for a non- Mexican food place. And it was a lot of food. The only thing I would knock on this was the red sauce. Needed a bit more bite. Maybe some jalapeños. But pretty dang good. Moms and bro cleaned their plates to so no complaints from them. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots to visit. I love the Turkey sausage and gravy and it's the only place I know that has turkey sausage. I decided to have a birthday brunch here last minute. For a total of 11, although 10 showed. Everything was great, food wise, OUTSIDE of the onions in my potatoes. I asked for onions right? Who gives the outside layer of the onion. You know after you peel the initial outside layer there's that layer that doesn't quite cook down and is tough? I didn't even finish my potatoes because of that. Initially when I called I spoke to a young lady. I explained that I wanted to waitlist but the wait list was currently showing 0-5 minutes for a party of 11. I asked if I should waitlist earlier and she said yes. It's about 11:30 am at the time. When I asked her name, she said I'm so sorry I can't give you my name. The only reason I didn't decide on another place was because it was already last minute. Like why couldn't you give me your name? In the day we live in now where service is mediocre at best, like why? I brought quite a few dollars to the restaurant that day. Anywho, that annoyed me. My food was good, sans onions, my pomegranate was amazing. This was my first visit to this location and I definitely won't be back. Her not giving her name irked me. The noise level was normal. I've never left a 1 star review but this was the worst experience I've had in Houston. Also i'd like to say that Ritanie our waitress was incredible and nothing below was her fault!! I ordered the Barbacoa Chilaquiles Breakfast Bowl and a water. 1. When the plate was served I found it odd that I didn't see any Barbacoa in the dish. I figured it's in the sauce and looked for TEN MINUTES while also looking at photos of the dish online. It did not have any barbacoa in the bowl. I explain this to a different waitress and she takes the food back to the kitchen and brings it out again with a small piece of barbocoa sitting conveniently on top of my food! She tries to point that out saying there's meat in it which is absolutely ridiculous! Very insulting and gross. SEE THE VIDEO, there's only 1 piece of meat on top. I didnt take a single bite of food. Absolutely unacceptable to bring a plate of food back from the kitchen trying to trick the customer to avoid remaking the dish. They comped a single order of avocado toast and the manager came to apologize. Completely ruined my experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. I love this place, and the food is always great, but the service can sometimes be inconsistent. The hosts need a better system, especially when it's busy. I specifically requested a booth, but when I was told my table was ready, they tried to seat us at a regular table. Requests like that should be written down to avoid confusion. I was originally told the wait would be 20 minutes, but I ended up waiting 30-40 minutes while people who arrived after me were seated in booths. I've also had a couple of servers with an attitude, which made the experience less enjoyable. Overall, the food is great, but the hosting and service could definitely be improved. read more

It's been a while since I've eaten at first watch probably 3 years. Today my family and I decided to have brunch here. I ordered the chimichuri steak and eggs. It was delicious! By the time I noticed the waitress was not around so did not bother to exchange that! The elevated egg sandwich was pretty good but overall- just meh! That is all I can muster. I recently visited First Watch on price plaza and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxed breakfast or brunch. Our server was Thiago and he was incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing -- he made us feel welcome the moment we sat down. The food was absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh. I ordered the farm house bowl, and it was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. You can really tell that First Watch takes pride in both their food and their service. The customer service was great, but the food has gone downhill consistently since we started eating here. The latest disappointment was when we each ordered the chorizo omelette, and I am not exaggerating when I tell you that there was approximately 1 tablespoon of chorizo in each of our omelettes. I placed an online order and was able to pick it up within 10 minutes. I got the sunny Seoul hash and trifecta breakfast. I feel like the portions are relatively small, but the food always hits the spot. The hash was so good with the bits of pork belly and kimchi. Loved topping it off with a sunny side up egg. For the trifecta breakfast, I was able to replace the waffle with the cinnamon chip pancake, which I've been wanting to try. It was delightful, and the cinnamon chips had a nice crunch to them with every bite. The scrambled eggs were a bit overcooked, so next time I'd probably go for a sunny side up egg. read more

Underwhelmed, I have been to others that are SO much better. The service was good but the BLT Eggs Benedict and the side of bacon were cold. The poached eggs were very undercooked with really runny whites, the bacon was not freshly fried and they only put the cheese on top of the cheesey grits rather than mixing it in, so it was clumpy and bland. This review is based off of 2 visits in the last 1 week. One was during the week and the other on a Sunday morning! Both visits are service was fine; it was pretty standard. The food on our 1st visit was great! Everything was as we asked on the 1st try! However, our 2nd visit was not so much. Idk why people feel as if everyone like parsley and cilantro but I don't and Ive never had it randomly put on my eggs before. So they recooked my eggs which then came out runny. Bacon definitely under cooked. Had to pretty much send my whole plate back. My potatoes were not cooked completely and had to send them back not once but 4 times before they came out right. And I felt bad sending them back but I was very clear i wanted them completely cooked, actually I wanted them over cooked. Looking at the pictures; uou can see the difference. By the time they did come out we were done eating. Honestly the only things i enjoyed this 2nd trip was the juice and avocado. The other person was happy with all their food. Ok so first I want to start with the shrimp and grits. I was so excited considering that I was starving and they were advertising on the photo before you walk in the restaurant. Expectations vs reality were way off. I was expecting some real southern made grits and shrimp. Shrimpy tomato soup. Hardly any grits. Very spicy for no reason. Bread was hard! What I received was more like a tomato soup, the plate was covered in tomatoes and the grits were so soupy and there was hardly any grits and some extra spicy shrimp with all these toppings. Spice does not equate to seasoning!!! The food had absolutely no flavor. Then I got the Hawaiian French toast. You can't smack a pineapple on something and call it "Hawaiian." Overall my server only came to check on us twice, once, to take our order and next to give us the check. I was extremely disappointed and I had such higher expectations. I was thinking about French toast but then decided to get the chocolate chip pancakes and million dollar bacon. I wasn't sure if I should go for the single or double chocolate chip pancake and decided for only two dollars more I might as well go for the double. Two pancakes and four pieces of bacon was more food than I needed to be eating. However all that food was only about $13. Top pancake was perfect, but the bottom one didn't have anywhere near as many chocolate chips. Bacon was good, cooked just the way I like it where it's a little chewy and a little crispy. read more
