This place is good for your run of the mill brunch place. It's good food but nothing to right home about. I get the same thing every time although I've been less than impressed the last couple of times I've gotten it. The menu item is the turkey sausage egg white omelet. Last time, there was literally 3 pieces of small sausage in my omelet and 4 spinach leaves with a couple of tomato pieces sprinkled on top; for $9+ dollars, I really should find a new place that gives a better protein portion instead of small mediocre pieces. I've been thoroughly unimpressed the last couple of times I've come here. The only reason I continue coming is because it's close to my house and convenient for many friends. The service is not horrible but not great although the coffee they give you while you wait to be seated is nice. read more

I had a delicious brunch at First Watch this morning! I got on the waitlist when I got there because they were a little busy. This is totally understandable considering they are working at half capacity for COVID and it was about 11 o'clock on a Saturday. My server, Allison, was very polite and knowledgable. She persuaded me into getting their Sunrise Bowl that had low-fat yogurt, granola, and fresh fruit. It was very filling and delicious. As far as sustainability goes, they used reusable cups, dishes, and silverware when dining in. Service was quick and all of the staff were following COVID protocols. Excellent breakfast. Velvet had the vegie omelet came with fresh greens and multi grain bread. Everything screamed when you bit it, Cause it was so fresh. I had the Trifecta. Two free range eggs a multi grain pancake and thick slice bacon. If it wasn't bacon I would have thought it was good for you. First Watch has suffered from a perception issue, in my mind. I judged it from its previous incarnation, The Egg & I. That restaurant was the worst kind of boring grandpa breakfast foods, and I projected that onto First Watch, and that was such a mistake. My wife and I finally gave them a shot thanks to a Yelp event, and it is 180 degrees from what I expected. We started with fresh pressed juice concoctions with fresh ingredients like kale, beets, mangoes apples, ginger and more. That was my first surprise, but First Watch places a huge focus on fresh food with a west coast healthy flair. The event started us with the avocado toast and the superfood bowl. The avocado toast was my favorite thing I ate all night. The whole grain toast was thick and really flavorful. Then the avocado was placed in copious amounts on top with nothing but a sprinkle of sea salt. Take that and mix it with the two over easy eggs and I could eat that every morning! The super bowl was also unique and flavorful. The pudding is made with chia seeds and coconut milk then covered in fresh bananas and berries. That is served with the same toast covered in almond butter and sea salt. Another sure fire "good day" breakfast! For our entrees, I had the roast beef and havarti on Parmesan toasted sourdough. The roasted onion and sun-dried tomatoes really popped. My wife had the lemon ricotta pancakes and she loved them. The lemon curd and strawberries were my favorite part of the dish. We also got a dish of the millionaires bacon. I could eat my weight in that stuff! It's brown sugar baked bacon with cayenne pepper and finished with maple syrup. True and honest food crack! Outside of the food, the staff was really friendly and attentive and the manager was kind and told us all about the transition from the old format to the new First Watch. They use no hot lamps, they cook everything fresh and from scratch and the kicker they serve really great food. Really glad to know I have something like this just down the street! read more

I've heard about First Watch for some time now but I had never made time to go. So today after church I decided to give it a try. It was great! My server Emily was so attentive and sweet. I was alone, however she and the rest of the staff gave me enough attention to where I wasn't bored, haha. When she took my order, I griped to her how I was conflicted between getting a pancake/Waffle or an omelet and she suggested their Tri-Fecta meal so I could get the mix of sweet & savory that I was longing for! Went there for Father's Day with the family. Good atmosphere and great food. I had the Floridian and it was great. They had run out of milk and waitress seem very busy but had to give a five star for the no wait app that got us seated in seconds. Good food and well worth it. I have been here at least four more times since and the food for sure is a 4-5 but service the last four times has been bad. Literally forgetting parts of orders and then you would have to remind over and over. The last time everyone was almost finished eating before i finally had to get up and walk toward the kitchen and stand there waiting to get what I ordered. First time going to first watch, I can tell it's good because the store is so crowded it will be an hour wait. We decide to order over the phone, pick it up and eat at the park. The food took about 20 minutes to cook and the transaction was quick and easy. I got the traditional which was eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast. Everything was delicious, especially there house made hash browns and preserves for your toast. When this was the Egg-and-I, it was a fantastic 5-Star breakfast establishment with a great menu to match the courteous staff under Jason's vigilant management. However, the corporate overlords of First Watch have killed this restaurant with an out of touch Avacado-and-Bacon-on-Toast menu that represents nothing about great breakfast culture. We have eaten at First Watch four times now and are very pleased with the consistency of quality at their locations. They have top quality local goods when available. The best time to eat there is off peak times like 1-2pm. Our last time at this location, their ice machine broke on them one Sunday morning so they bought several bags of ice so the customer's iced drinks would remain cold. What else can I say other than this establishment is very well managed as was another we visited in Sarasota back in July. Five stars all the way! read more

Unfortunately we didn't end up getting into this location. We're a family of 7 with young children (2 high chairs) and they won't seat more than 6 together. Not the end of the world but the lady who answered the phone was simply rude. And please tell me why I would patron an establishment like this? People were getting gift cards because of their long wait. People who came in after us got their food first. Visiting First Watch made me really miss The Egg and I. First impressions are lasting ones, and this was very disappointing. This is not an improvement over The Egg and I. First, the chilly AC guarantees your warm -- not hot -- food will be cold by the time you finish it. Favorites from the old menu are gone -- no more Parisian eggs Benedict or corned beef hash. But if you like avocado (I don't), it seems like you can get that on any menu item. This was my initial problem with First Watch. It's trying really, really hard to be pretentious and trendy. Avocado and greens with everything. If you want potatoes with your eggs Benedict, you need to ask for it. Toast is not just toast, it's "artisan" toast. Mushrooms are not just mushrooms, they are "house-roasted Cremini mushrooms." Service is spotty. Seemed good at first, but then dropped off quickly. When things started falling apart, our server was nowhere to be seen. A manager came over after a long wait to explain there was a problem (they broke the poached eggs) and our food would be out shortly. Our server only returned toward the end of the meal to apologize for how badly things had gone. We were a party of five. My son got his meal 5-10 minutes before the rest of us, meaning he was nearly done when the rest of us were served. The food itself was good, not great. I had the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with potatoes. It was tasty, but chilled quickly in the frosty temperature. My wife was really disappointed with not being able to get her favorite Parisian eggs Benedict. She got the traditional eggs Benedict, but said they were cold and bland. My son also said the biscuits with turkey sausage gravy with scrambled eggs was bland. The coffee was nothing spectacular (my wife said it had a funny taste) and half-and-half appears to be rationed. Flavored non-dairy creamer was the most plentiful option -- unusual for a restaurant that posts "farm fresh" prominently. On the positive side, my daughter really enjoyed her carrot cake pancake. And in fairness to the management, they took the two eggs Benedict off our bill because they arrived so late. In the articles I read in the newspaper about First Watch, it promised to be everything I liked about The Egg and I with a number of newer and healthier items added -- lots of avocado and kale shakes, etc. It wasn't. First Watch does not have the charm and good food of its predecessor. I was looking forward to a good dining experience like I used to have at The Egg and I. I didn't get it.
