I think the number of customers on a holiday weekend made that call ahead system work slow. The security requested I enter a code texted to me. After the allotted time ran out, I requested another code. The first code arrived after I requested a second. It let me use the app, but then a second code arrived. Our waitress was top notch. Stopped in with the family while visiting the area. Far better choice than most chains. As a guy that grew up in the Midwest and now lives out West, this reminds me of my youth. Seated quickly, attentive staff, decent prices. This place traffics in excess. The food was all quite good as well, if not over the top at times. Great pancakes, delicious potatoes, slabs of bacon, and everything in portions bigger than your head! I think OJ was bigger than your typical Big Gulp! And no shortage of calories or fat. Do not come here expecting egg white frittatas and fat free yogurt parfaits (although I bet they have both - in gobstopper sizes) I would put the food quality above that of most mom and pop diners and far above the typical chain. But clearly not boutique or high end. Very accessible and something for everyone. While others call this expensive, living on the West Coast, where breakfast for a family of 4 can run you $200 without blinking, I would call the cost average, to a wee bit above average for the Midwest. I've always had a good experience at First Watch. I would highly recommend checking in online ahead of time, especially if you plan on going on the weekend. It can be expensive, but everything has always been very fresh and high quality. The pancakes are HUGE and absolutely delicious. Additionally, their fruit is very fresh. I've always had good and fast service, especially considering how busy it is. The only thing I'm not the biggest fan of is their coffee. Our recent brunch here was pretty good! We were seated right away and had a drink order taken immediately. It did take a very long time to get drinks. I ordered a decaf coffee and that seemed to throw things off for them. I kept being told that they had to brew a fresh pot and it "would be right out". I ordered the Brooklyn Breakfast Sandwich and my daughter ordered the Trifecta. My sandwich was delicious! Pastrami, egg, cheese, and pickled onions - it was so good and so messy. Seriously, a very messy sandwich. But worth it! My daughter's brunch was a bit disappointing. One little scrambled egg and one sausage link with a large waffle. Very little protein for the price of the entree. The service was good - although we had no clue who our server was. We were sat by a host. Someone took our drink order. Someone else took our order. I've never been to a First Watch but the lovely Mrs had so she suggested. Quite pleased actually! Service was amazing. Place is super clean. The food was pretty darn tasty and lots of it!? The jam and toast were my favorite part of the omelette. Yep. I know. It's just that I hadn't had toast in forever and the jam was super tasty! The Mrs ordered a club sandwich that was a little dry but it tasted good. My omelette was super warm and incredibly filling. I'd for sure go back. If nothing else, I'd go back for the service and there is so many twitter things I'd like to try. Delicious and surprising food combinations. Fresh and tasty They always have something new, like chai latte pancakes, and beet toast with avocado. It's hard to decide what to try. My sandwich was delicious, served on a Parmesan crusted sourdough bread with a horseradish dipping sauce. It had sun dried tomatoes inside and a zesty arugula. It was delicious. First Watch is usually one of my favorite locations, but this visit wasn't so great. But, the junky service was made up by the always excellent food. I love the Farmhouse skillet and could it eat everyday. This was was just as good as usual, with nice ripe avocado and just the right amount of tomato and bacon. I'm also going to miss the seasonal Cinnamon Chip pancake, but I'm hoping it will be back soon, so I can grab another. I would rate First Watch as just okay. Although I am a huge fan of brunch - your bill adds up quickly here. The food is fine and delicious, but it's pretty high for what it is. For example, an egg omelet with a side of basic greens was about $12-15. I can make that at home for less than $5. Again, it just depends on what you are in the mood for and if you are going to brunch for the social aspect vs. what you can make at home for a lesser price. If you're trying to save money, see if you can make it at home! My salad with greens, carrots and chicken was good - but there wasn't much chicken. When you are spending about $13+, you want to walk away pretty filled. It was good, but I was still hungry. I added a muffin on the side to help fill me up. The place was packed for a Sunday around noon. We were quoted about 20 minutes, but it ended up being around 30 minutes. It wasn't a problem - just a long wait in a crowded waiting area. The restaurant is pretty intimate, as they don't have a lot of privacy. We had a conversation with the couple sitting next to us, as they were within a foot away. They could hear us talking, as we could hear their conversation. If you're looking for a place to work on a laptop and write a paper or have an intimate conversation with someone, I would choose another place due to space and wait time. I finally decided on the Eggs Benedict BLT and very much enjoyed it! My boyfriend ordered the farmhouse skillet hash. He enjoyed it but said that he preferred the Parma skillet a little more. I thought that my frittata would have a noticeable truffle flavor, but it didn't taste like truffle at all. Additionally, the frittata was about half mushrooms and half onions, which would have been fine if the description didn't make it sound like the dish would have a ton of mushrooms and only a few onions. Overall I had a decent experience, and will probably be back because of the freshness and health conscious options that are available. Got the smoked salmon eggs Benedict over toasted brioche. Came with enough greens to make a salad. I felt this breakfast was so fresh and was locally sourced. We also tried the "Works" omelette and split the avocado toast. The avocado mash on the toast was well seasoned and a nice surprise since I just thought it might be bland. The toast was a hearty thick slice of whole grain toast, and the plate came with 2 up-and-over eggs. Very hearty and delicious. Arrived on a busy Saturday close to 1:00. Gave my head count and then gave my phone number for a text when the table was ready. We took a quick run over to Home Goods to waste the 15-20 minutes. Showed back up and they called our name. They told me that they had texted me, but I never received it. Got our seat and menus and water quickly. I have been to this location MANY times, and never had an issue, but this past Sunday was so bad, I feel it has to be brought up. We had a party of 5, but came rather early before the Sunday after church rush. There were multiple issues with dishes that required sending them back for a re-do or at worst refund. My million dollar bacon (which ive had before and was awesome) had a strong taste of chlorine! I thought I was losing my mind until my friend said her eggs tasted the same! Another person in our party had the wrong eggs with her meal, and lastly a quinoa bowl was full of liquid and had to be remade. The remakes were acceptable, and the other things were refunded, but it was just a stunning amount of mistakes. The waitress apologized, but seemed annoyed.
