I ended up trying their FIRENZE PANINI (grilled chicken breast with roasted red peppers, sautéed baby spinach, provolone and pesto aioli); this sh#t was delicious. The sandwich was in a word outstanding served with a sude of the best potato salad, you will ever taste as well as complementary pickles, like the deli of old would do and even some delicious extra bread. I just loved it and I had to bring my wife back for a second visit. This visit was even better than the first. I got an over stuffed two meat sandwich of pastrami and corn beef. It was absolutely wonderful. Same excellent service. There is so much on the menu. I want to try that I will be stopping there pretty much every time I pass by. Our sandwiches came with choice of potato salad or Cole slaw, so I got one of each. I would not recommend either one. The Cole slaw was incredibly sweet and the potato salad was kind of bland and absolutely nothing at all to write back home about. Mushroom and barley soup "sounded" good but what we got looked more like a porridge-style wall paper paste. Not fresh. Not delectable. I think I saw three mushroom slices and barley that looked like it had been so over-cooked that it almost didn't resemble barley anymore. "Soup" so thick you could probably eat it with a fork. Just not good. The inside of the restaurant looked outdated and tired. The deli case looked "questionable" with deli meats touching. I used to manage a little deli and we kept our meats completely separated. Pretty sure no one really wants their meats touching other meats. Here, the roast beef was touching the chicken breast. NONE of the other deli salad selections looked fresh OR appetizing. It's just not worth it and I won't be coming back. I know I won't be missed. I'm just one customer that was disenchanted with the entire experience- and I'm okay with that. As a Yelp Elite reviewer, I take my reviews seriously and I don't write to bash anyone personally. Megan was our server extraordinaire and brought me a large cup of delicious brewed coffee. We both got the breakfast special which included a drink. I had three scrambled eggs, grits and a toasted sesame bagel. Dave had the same with pancakes instead of the bagel. The grits were brought out in a shissel along with brown sugar and raisins. Dave loves that-I prefer savory butter lol! Then the eggs were a very large portion and done just right. I swear I had a bagel that was on steroids lol! It was the biggest bagel that I have ever seen. David got two large pancakes along with warmed syrup! Who could ask for anything more. Megan said the bagels were baked right there! The price was a modest $9.99! A bargain considering we usually pay over $3.00 a cup of coffee here. It makes me sad that I left my home there 12 years ago! I had many wonderful memories of eating at Poppies with my friends and family. Consistency and good service and that is what Poppies is all about!

It was dry as expected, but had no flavor. She orders the brisket at all the other Jewish deli's in the area and all have flavor, although very dry when ordered extra lean. The others all ordered cold sandwiches and were fine with their meals. The only comments were the rye bread looked packaged from a market, not your typical Jewish Rye, but they still enjoyed their sandwich. The remodel is really first class, definitely the nicest Jewish deli in the area.
