The room is so much bigger, well lit, beautiful and modern. New walk in shower stall with modern fixtures, a new vanity (from Amazon), new floor tile, mirrors, and overhead ceiling lights were installed. They installed a new tub, tiled the tub enclosure, installed new shower fixtures, and tiled the floor in another bathroom. They installed a new vanity and tile in the half bathroom and tiled the kitchen. The attic insulation was replaced. Mold remediation was done in multiple places. The service was great from estimate through the final inspection. The installers were great. Everyone treated my house and me respectfully. They showed up on days they were supposed to show up, Supervisors showed up multiple times during the install. They listened to what I wanted done in the house. When they were done, they cleaned up everything and removed all the trash from the property. I'm very pleased with the work they did for me. Everyone at EcoStar was kind and considerate. I would like to express my thanks to my project manager, Zane, who took the project from the estimate to the finished product. Set up free consultation only to be told that it would cost $250 for an electrical inspection. If that wasn't already ridiculous--they asked me in front of my tenants if they would like me to have them get their "mold detector" since the fan had not been operational. After doing so they scared my tenants by stating there was mold both in the bathroom and the adjacent closet. A $350 test--(each additional room would then be $100) would confirm which kind of mold an then there would be another fee for the application of products to kill the mold and then another fee for demolition assessment and another fee for "rebuild" team assessment--this does not even include any work or the ORIGINAL REASON FOR SETTING THE APPOINTMENT--to find out how much it would be to replace my bathroom exhaust fan and switch out 3 other fixtures!!! THANK GOODNESS FOR PROFESSIONALS LIKE SERVPRO who came out the very next day and who couldn't find any mold or moisture and who explained to me the there is no such apparatus that shoots through walls and find mold but rather explained to us what we were shown was a machine that detected temperature variations in the wall and found the whole "mold scare" was due to the reading of my ductwork in the attic!!! Seriously?!?!!! Glad I called SERVPRO before being duped into spending thousands of dollars for nothing! SCARE tactics are NOT PROFESSIONAL and EXTREMELY DISHONEST. So I called up Rodrigo to do my partial kitchen remodel without any plans. They repaired the cracks in my walls and ceiling, prearranged the cabinets so they fit my kitchen which was extremely difficult, reconstructed some cabinets, tiled and put in electricity , sink and appliances at a very reasonable price. Rodrigo is a great problem solver. Since my cabinets were not custom made, as soon as we had problems he quickly figured out what to do always trying to accommodate my requests. I applaud him for his patience. I changed my mind many times and he still tried to please me. For example, at the last minute after they already put up the cabinets I decided I wanted a hood range over the stove instead of the island. He had to figure out how to remove the cabinets without destroying the tile or cabinets. He worked cautiously and made it happen. This sounded like an simple project for a contractor; I'd find said contractor, they'd give me an estimate, I'd pay and they'd have the construction done in a week or so. I was so naive! This little project was quite an introduction to the world of L.A. contractors. I first got an estimate of the work involved and the cost from the building's engineer, then I got the name of the first contractor from the building manager. He had done work in the building and there had been no complaints. I called him and he showed up the same day. He knocked a small hole in the wall separating the loft from the empty space and told me that the electrical conduits inside would have to be rerouted. Not a big deal; it would take him and his crew about a week or so to complete the room. He couldn't give me a firm estimate right there, but he gave me a ballpark number (that was within my budget) and he would fax me an estimate later. Great! That was easy! A couple of days later, I get the estimate - it's over twice his original figure and it was missing items, like rerouting the electrical conduits. I asked him for a better estimate and he said that he would fax it to me "soon". A week and several phone calls later and no new estimate, I started looking for another contractor. The next contractor had done work in the building and while no one was singing his praises, they weren't going after him with pitchforks, either. I called him and was told that this was a "small job" and not a big priority compared to others. He said that it would probably cost close to what the first contractor had written in his estimate... even before he'd seen the space. He promised to come see the place and give me an estimate later that week. He never showed up and when I called him, he promised to come the next Wednesday. Of course, he never showed. Annoyed, discouraged and bewildered by all this bizarre "contractor behavior", I was about to give up, but I did a Google search for contractors in L.A. which led me to FioreBuilt Construction and Anthony's reviews on Yelp. Anthony sounded too good to be true, but I emailed him anyway. He responded quickly, and we scheduled a visit for an estimate. Anthony showed up on time and he was polite, professional and listened to my requirements. He made suggestions about the floor and door type, described the process in detail and took measurements. I told him that we would paint the walls and tile the floor and he had no problem with that. Anthony agreed that this was a small project, but it didn't bother him at all - in fact, he seemed enthusiastic about it and didn't see any major problems. My jaw dropped when he told me that he could start that weekend and have the job done in 3 - 4 days. I was really impressed, but a bit concerned... if a couple of slackers came up with an estimate twice my budget, an obvious professional like Anthony would probably give me an estimate that was even higher! The same day he emailed me an estimate and called to let me know that he was available that evening to answer any questions. We were relieved to see that Anthony's estimate was within our budget and basically what the building engineer had estimated. His bid was very detailed, and even included a Gannt chart with each step in the construction and the estimated time to complete each step. I called him right back and we signed the contract. Anthony showed up that Saturday morning just when he said he would and got to work while we started moving in Lisa's stuff. He made a great effort to contain and minimize the disruption caused by the construction and continued to work all day and well into the night. The next day he brought his electrical crew in and they all worked late again. Each step of the way, he described in detail the work involved. He suggested that instead of blocking off a corner of the space occupied by two vent pipes that couldn't be moved he could build drywall around them, make a small utility closet and add a shelf. The rest of the project went as planned (this is the first time I've seen anyone stick to a Gannt chart...) and the results far exceeded our expectations. Lisa and I were impressed by Anthony's hard work, communication and professionalism. He clearly loves his work and truly goes out of his way to keep his customers happy. The quality of his workmanship and that of the subcontractors he hires is just outstanding. He will clearly become more popular as his reputation spreads. I hope the first two contractors call back back back to see if I'm still interested in an estimate. I'll enjoy telling them, "No thanks, FioreBuilt Construction was here and he finished the job on time, on budget and the results were outstanding"

Anthony was early, not on time, but early, which helps when you need to review a property before work 2. He returned an estimate the same day because he knew I was under a time constraint. Professional, took cost into account and timely. Can't beat that for any business, especially a GC.

Ed and Jose are good salesman. That's about as far as it goes. We were told the 677 sq. ft. ADU…read morewould take between 4 to 6 months. Worst case scenario 6 months. It took 2 years. Just about every part of the build needed to be addressed from the mistakes that were made. The foundation needed to be moved because they said they didn't need the surveyor to stake it because they should be very close. When the inspector came out before the pour, they were of by an inch for the 4 foot clearance. The inspector made them move it. They fell so far behind they were doing drywall before the windows were installed. Only one window was in the right location. All the ruff openings had to be moved. The soffit for the kitchen cabinets was framed wrong. Just about every faze of the build needed to be corrected. We went through 7 project managers. Luckily I have some knowledge about construction and was able to pick up these mistakes before it became a bigger problem. Having my brother in law as the architect didn't hurt either. The only thing I can say is the ADU came out nice. If you think you can deal with this type of experience, by all means go for it. Oh forgot one thing. On the day of an inspection the inspector had to be escorted by the fire department because they hit my gas line. The next day they hit it again. Instead of following the line they started where they wanted to finish and hit it again. Think carefully in your disiscion.
