I have reached out to Expert Home Builders: the office and Tony (my contact). They now don't answer my calls as they have caller ID. All I wanted is the names of the flooring, cabinets, and paint colors. When something happens and I need to replace 'it', what is it called? For months, Tony told me "No, problem, I'll get you the information". This made me frustrated because I enjoyed working with EHB. I now see them in a different shade. read more

Overall experience was VERY EXPENSIVE just to take some measurements and give us plans, but it is what it is. We learned alot from this experience and realized its NOT worth us going forward with our project, however, we are selling the plans with the future homeowners. I asked for a physical copy and they are telling me to pay and get them printed up myself. so not too crazy about this kind of service. read more

They did an extension on my home and it has been a nightmare. Their communication is horrible. Phone calls go unanswered and unreturned. They have excuse after excuse why they cannot fix things they did wrong even when they agree it is their issue and under warranty. I hired Expert Home Builder on 9/11/2023. Because they did not finish 2 bathrooms in 6 months, I had to file a claim with the Contractors State License Board to get them out of my contract. Then I hired several different contractors to finish the work they were supposed to do. The one contractor I hired to finish the bathrooms also had to fix some of the work that they did. 16 months later ~ when it should have only taken 3 months to do the whole contract, I am finally finished with the upgrades to my house. Most of that was my waiting for them to finish the 2 bathrooms and then me getting the contractor state license board involved to get me out of the contract so I could hire other contractors. Yes. They also ripped me off in $$$$. A month after I signed the contract, they had 3 men come to my house and try to extort me. They demanded that I sign a change order for $60K to remove the asbestos in my attic. They were there for 3 hours and I told them "NO." at least 17 times. They would not leave until I signed. I never did sign the Change Order. They then threaten me that they would not do some of the work they already signed the contract to do. I hired an Asbestos Company, and they charged me $1,600.00 to do the work they were demanding $60K for, and they also capped some of my vents that were not being used. I checked online today, and they have 3 new complaints this month alone on the Contractors State License Board, and they have lost their Better Business Bureau Accreditation. I would not recommend this company. No even to change a light bulb. read more

The General Contractor was only on site to collect a check. I had to manage all the work myself. Numerous mistakes were made because no one was directing them. If it was not for me being on site every day many more costly mistakes would have been made. The hardware installed was the cheapest quality available. I'm on all the do not call lists.... I get a call from their "appointment setter" who doesn't tell me what company they are with. I ask for a website and yelp page and everything this guy tells me leads me to think it might not be the same company and they might be scammers. When I question him on this he hangs up. I call the number back and discover that he does work for this company. Then I see all the negative reviews.... Especially in the last 6 months and by people who actually had work done. DO NOT HIRE - SCAMMERS - BAIT & SWITCH... I hired Expert Home Builders in San Diego, signed contracts ordered windows based on their measurements and direction, the sales person even came with me to Home Depot to ensure we ordered the correct ones. Since 1 of the windows was an odd size it was a custom order, which delay project by 1 month. The day before construction was supposed to start, they brought in a team (assuming sub-contractor), who re-measured and said one of the windows (the custom order) was 2 inches too large. It would require a lot of extra work to make it fit. Even if it was the right size, the project would cost double from what was agreed for the window replacement stucco & drywall work, as well as the location of the windows (3rd story). All these items were listed in the statement of work, so EHB didn't do their due diligence before creating the contract & pricing. Since I wouldn't agree to paying double, they were supposed to talk to management to see what could be done and call me the following Monday. I didn't hear from the company for months despite follow-up. It was not until I filed a BBB report against them. Even then, they only sent a letter & refunded my initial deposit. I'm still fighting to get the cost of the custom window that I cant use (wrong size) or return (custom order) refunded ($815.00). I will now need to file with small claims court to get those funds back. This is a despicable company that doesn't honor its contracts, stand behind its employees work, or do right by its customers. You think if you have an issue during or after your project is completed they will work to make things right by you - DOUBTFUL!!! read more

I truly regret ever hiring this company. The contractor that did the work obviously didn't do the best job. My wood floors were redone 3 times. The last time the guys who put them in put my floor molding from the bathroom, which was maple was put in the kitchen were is was cream color. The baseboards were put back, and some were damaged and very dirty.when they trimmed the windows, they were told to use 1 board they used 2, and now what ever they seal them with is no longer there and you can see the cut. My fan in the bathroom was replaced, and there was a piece of the ceiling that was cut out. The trim from the cabinet trim above the fridge is coming off. All the base boards that were removed and put back look like they are 10 yrs old. They are all out of sink and do not look newer at all. I was told the fan in my bathroom wouldn't work cause my electrical is not up to date. However, they did the remodel without telling me about the electrical. So now I'm hiring an electrical co to check it out, and if it's true and they have to tear my walls apart to redo the electrical, I will be getting a lawyer. Ever job looks good compared to what it looked like before it's all the things you find afterward. My granite sink I bought doesn't fit correctly cause they cut the hole too big, and they just left it like that. There is a lot more, but this is the beginning of my worst nightmare. read more

We love our new bathroom!! We had a horrible en suite bathroom which Expert Home Builders gutted and renovated, and it is now a peaceful home spa. We worked with their showroom to pick out the right tile and flooring to match fixtures and accessories we picked out. They added built-in shelving, a recessed vanity cabinet, new light fixture, and gorgeous glass shower doors. They also removed excess plumbing fixtures, enlarged the small window, and added a beautiful shampoo box under the window. The end result is a beautiful transformation and now one of our favorite rooms in the house. Our contractor Meidan was always responsive when we had questions or concerns, all the workers were very professional, and the project was completed within the timeframe and budget that was outlined in our contract. Roof falling in, due to leaks and cracked ceiling, and electrical lighting shorted out. There Job was too install slant roof, new ceiling and recessed lighting. 20 yr warranty for leaks a joke! Job in 2021, issues of leaks started 2022. No help.!! I trusted them. Close to $15,000. Took $ and ran. They are not concerned for our safety, with ceiling sinking and main rafter cracked from weight! $1000.00 piano(electronic) destroyed and 55in Smart TV by water damage. He was extremely thorough while going over the work that needed to be done, was able to get us approved thru Pace and helped us prioritize all of our projects. We got pavers, roof and a new AC! Beware of this company. I requested a proposal to check on a foundation repairs. They said they pffer a no obligation free estimate. But when the estimator arrive to my property he qouted me for $42000 to repair my foundation and kept pushing me to go ahead and do the repairs. I discussed the pricing with my wife and decided to request other vendors for a qoute. I sent a text message to the estimator letting him know we want to seek another vendor for pricing before making a decision. Less than 30 mins I received a text message from another vendor whom I never contacted before and gave me a rough estimate of $49000 for the repair. Obviously expert home builders are lower. The problem is I never contacted a vendor yet so I am sure the other vendor was working with the estimator to make it look like expert home builders price is lower. Even after I sent a message to the estimator to hold off. He still sent an inspector to my property to check on my property. This guy doesn't take no for an answer. So much for the no obligation free estimate. They will hustle you to make a decision on the spot. Save yourself a headache. Don't work and don't trust this company. read more
