I recently had the pleasure of dealing with First Security Safe Co Inc in downtown Los Angeles. The proprietor Mr. Taha Khorram was referred to me by a close associate in the business. I had an issue with my safe dial not working properly so I felt it was time to have it professionally checked out or serviced before I could be locked out. Being locked out would have not only been a headache but very costly to resolve. From the moment I called Mr. Taha he immediately knew what was the issue and provided me a lower than standard flat rate for the trip fee, initial inspection and perform a minor service. Other competitors were charging more. Mr. Taha then checked the schedule of his main technician Mr. Hamid and managed to have him visit my office about an hour or so later. I was already feeling comfortable with Mr. Taha's attentiveness and prompt action to my need. He had been an experienced technician in the field for about 40 years. Within minutes Mr. Hamid knew what was the issue and after performing all his routine checks, he discovered my safe required a new inner lock kit. He was very reassuring and said not to worry, he will pick one up from the shop and bring it the next working day. I was not charged for the first trip and inspection fee (unlike other competitors) and as promised Mr. Hamid returned the next morning with the new lock kit. Within an hour of Mr. Hamid's return he had the new lock kit installed, helped me re-combination the safe dial and provided a full inspection. The dial worked so much more smoothly and consistently. Both Mr. Hamid and Mr. Taha assured me that the new lock would probably last as long as the original model part which is about 20 years. Mr. Hamid had me verified that the new combination worked properly twice before leaving my office. I was so pleased with the service, reliability and professionalism at First Security Safe. This place specializes in safes, and they have some huge ones that could hold a few adults. But they also do keys, and they often have hard to find ones. They also will make car keys and can make anti theft keys or stamp "do not duplicate" on keys. Ironically, they will make copies of keys that have this imprinted on them. Also, they are also not cheap. They keys are pricey and other accoutrements like padlocks and key rings are also pricey. They also close right at 5 pm sharp, which is kind of a bummer if you need to come after work. read more

Just because I spoke with a minority does not mean that there was no racism present. I have no reason to post a false review, like I said the manager told me he did not want to talk with me. I was quoted $70 for your "minority" employee to use his personal key to open an empty nail case as the keys were inside. My company always sends me out here for all our key needs because its the closest location from the office. So I'm a regular here. The pro: The customer service. They're pretty nice people. The con: They're hella expensive. It will cost you between $4 to $8 for one copy depending on the type of key. The business is also kind of shady. All their transactions are done by pen and paper. And depending on who makes your key, the guy will round up and incorrectly add up your total, making you pay more for the service. I bought a Bally's Slot Machine without a key, and called the many locksmiths in downtown (many advertising on this site), to be told "Can't be picked, only drilled. No other way. Will cost $150-200". I did some research and found a pick set, which none of the locksmiths I called had heard of or owned. I tried one last time with 1ST SECURITY SAFE COMPANY, who were friendly and helpful on the phone. They told me they would try to pick it and to bring it by. In five minutes, they had the pick set in question out and HAD OPENED MY MACHINE! PS they charged me less than half of the other locksmiths, who would have ruined my machine. I had purchased a used safe from a third party who originally had purchased it from 1st Security Safe in the Jewelry District in Downtown. I arranged the physical move, lock change, and bolting with them. From my first contact until my last they were communicative, fair, explained everything, and highly secure. Any private information was delivered to me in a sealed container which would have shown obviously if it had been tampered with, and he even re-keyed my high security safe without charge. I was referred to them by a local jeweler, The owner is a gentleman and very very honest. He sold me a safe. I have bought 5 safes for my various locations over the last 24 years. So heres my story of dealing with First Security, its kind of long so sorry but I wanted to cover the whole thing. I had spent a few weeks researching what safe I needed to fit my very picky requirements, and once I had found it, I started looking for the best place to get it that would not overcharge me for the safe itself, and the delivery to my home. This was the part I had underestimated. Every store online that had the safe I wanted had it at a kick ass price but wanted $300+ for delivery, and when I say delivery I mean plain old curbside delivery. I did not realize that most online safe stores expect you to make your own arrangements to it the rest of the way. Finally I found a place online that was cheaper than any other, no tax as it was out of state, and had 'free' curbside delivery, so all I would have to do would be to find someone to get it from the curb to my apartment. And this is where First Security come into the story. I called up and spoke to Tina, who was relatively new at the company but very friendly and helpful. We were discussing the cost of sending some of their guys to get the safe from the curb to the apartment when she asked me why I didn't just buy the safe from them instead. I couldn't think of a good reason why not, so we went over the specifics of the safe I wanted to see if they could come close to the price I had found online. Tina told me she would look into it and call me back with a price the following day as it was late in the afternoon and they were closing. And she did not disappoint, she called me back the very next morning with their price. Not only was there price cheaper than what I had found online, but it included all taxes and INSIDE delivery. Needless to say I was absolutely amazed and took the deal straight away. There was a little paper work back and forth and then the waiting period. It was going to be about 2 weeks for the safe to be built, as it was a custom order. Tina told me that once they receive a new safe, they usually hold it for a few days so that their technicians can check it for imperfections and issues, which was fine by me as I'd much rather them find any problems at their store than me find them once it is sat in my apartment. The two weeks seemed to fly by and before I knew it Tina was calling again to schedule the delivery. We settled on a day and time, which thankfully was a 1.5 hour window, allowing me to minimize the time I had to take off work. Unfortunately my schedule changed and I had to move the date. Tina was more than helpful and did not make a fuss at all, which is very rare in my experience when dealing with smaller companies. Finally the day came for me to receive my safe. The delivery guys called me to let me know they were on the way and arrived within 30 minutes of the 1.5hrs window. Now this safe is very big and very heavy, but the two delivery guys managed to get it up to my apartment, and into the room I wanted it without leaving a mark on any of the walls, doorways or floors. The safe itself was in immaculate condition and they gave me a short tutorial on it operation and changing the factory default code to my own.They were very professional, polite, efficient and made the whole event very simple and painless. Its now a couple of weeks since I received the safe and I'm still over the moon with it and the whole experience of making the purchase with First Security. I really would recommend them to anyone who is in the market for a safe, big or small. I actually found this business by doing a search on the internet for places close to where I needed the service and found the reviews on yelp to be very helpful. The comments are correct folks. These guys are that good!! My service technician was Baram. He spoke with me briefly over the phone (so that I could describe the service I needed). Baram arrived within 45 minutes, 15 minutes ahead of the hour he said he needed for travel. He completed his work in less than 30 minutes. Baram quoted me one price over the phone, yet he offered me a $5 discount without me having to ask (appreciated in this tough economy). Although he discovered he needed to do more work than anticipated, he completed the additional work and did not charge me any additional money. He left for his next appointment by simply handing me an invoice in which I called in to pay with a credit card over the phone. No fuss, no pressure, all smiles and very kind. When I called in to pay my invoice, the rep that answered the phone, Alex, was very professional and kind. It took less than 10 minutes and the payment was done. I thought they were going to try to sell me a safe or something, but I quickly realized they didn't need to sell their business because their business sells itself.
