Over the last few months I've continued seeing Svetlana exclusively for my waxing needs and we've discussed inconsistencies with my leg and Brazilian waxing. There have also been a few issues with sugaring my bikini area. On one occasion the sugaring was so rough and painful the skin was ripped off my bikini area (I decided no more sugaring after that ordeal) and my legs have had leftover hairs time and time again. Svetlana informed me that it's common when you start waxing again and once you've done it for roughly a year it will stop happening. It's been almost a year where I've exclusively waxed with her but there hasn't been a change. When I get home I'm still tweezing missed hair. I decided to ask her about it and she informed me that she doesn't have much experience with waxing my hair type. I was under the impression she did based on her many accolades. She was kind enough to recommend Natalia on JFK Street at another Skin Spa. If you have very fine/straight hair you won't have any problems when going here. But if your hair is curly or thick you may want to reconsider. Lastly, there have also been occasions where I've been accidentally overcharged for services. The first time I called her after noticing my bank statement and the second time I had to email her. The overcharged amount wasn't refunded but was applied to my next service. My quest continues...

I appreciate that they did get…read morein touch but it was a very mixed message (kind of apologetic, but also a bit accusatory; offering to bring me back in to make it right, but 48 hours before my wedding). I do want to note that I sound pretty angry in my review, and my language isn't the nicest. I thought about editing it but ultimately, this was an honest reflection of my experience. I'm letting it stand, keeping in mind that two stars on Yelp is, as they note, "Meh. I've experienced better"--not "aaah the world is ending." (I did take out one line that was a little unnecessary at the end!) ----------------- Perhaps you should just go here for other services Yelpers recommend, but I tried going--based on the glowing reviews here--for a bridal hair and makeup trial and could not have been more disappointed. Neither the stylist (Trish) nor the makeup artist (Preeti) paid any attention whatsoever to what I asked for, and both were very resistant to make any changes and just told me they could do things differently on my wedding day. Um. Not the point of a trial. Maybe it was late in the day and they wanted to go home, or had bad days, whatever, but it sucked. Plus I went with two friends and they were made to feel about as uncomfortable as guests could possibly feel--in a basically empty salon. I left feeling absolutely terrible about myself, with an updo that frizzed out within two hours, and makeup I washed off when I got home it made me so unhappy. (Also: when a makeup artist stabs you in the eye, it happens; but they should probably say a quick "sorry" rather than point out how now they're going to have to redo your bottom lid liner.) I left a voicemail at the salon saying I was unhappy with services and canceling my bridal appointment. They did not call back. Two weeks before my wedding and $125 invested, I have to find somewhere else to go. Two stars because the salon uses high quality makeup, and people were generally friendly.

Fast forward to 2 weeks before a holiday event and desperately trying to get in with her, unfortunately she was booked (although she will try her best to get you in if she has any cancellations) and I tried another salon/spa. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!! They gave me a full set, but the minute I opened my eyes, they were burning, and my lashes looked fake and heavy. Immediately after, they were rock hard to the touch and all stuck together- I couldn't even comb a mascara wand through them. I called Maria and begged her to help me. She got me in the next day and safely removed my poorly done extensions. I literally felt like she saved my life! Maria is knowledgeable, sweet and professional. I started waxing my brows at the age of 13, and after years and years of follicle damage I stopped getting ANY work on my brows for the past few years and still had to fill them in with tinted brow gel and pencil. They are naturally asymmetrical and I am so nervous to let anyone touch my brows. A good friend took me in just to sit by as she got HER brows threaded and tinted, and just witnessing my friend's beautiful brows and how friendly and talented Renu is, I decided to give it a shot after more than 2 years. Renu is an excellent listener and kept my brown's shape without removing too much hair. It took no time at all either! I booked the Lux Pedicure to treat myself for my birthday, and it absolutely delivered. The service lasted about an hour, and between the massage chair and what felt like multiple leg and foot massages throughout the pedicure, I left feeling refreshed and relaxed. Exactly what I was hoping for. Ashley was my nail tech (so she already got points for a great name and spelling it right lol), and she was wonderful, friendly, attentive, and did a great job. I had an appointment, and they took me right on time, which I appreciated. I'd heard from others that waits can happen, but that wasn't my experience, so I can only speak to the excellent service I received. I wasn't offered a drink (not sure if that's something they typically do), but I had my coffee with me, so it wasn't a big deal. If you're looking for a spa-like, champagne-and-chandeliers experience, this probably isn't it. But if you're looking for a quality pedicure with great massage time, friendly service, and a relaxing hour, I'd definitely recommend it. I'd happily come back the next time I'm in the area!
