I couldn't have asked for anything more based on what I gave her to work with I'll attach a few before and after pictures. I'd gotten my hair done at a salon in NYC. When I went in, I'd asked for a caramel balayage. That's not what I left with, even after I told them I didn't like the color, and they added toner to darken it. I called Arté as a last resort, after trying to find multiple other salons in the Natick area who could accommodate me. None of them could; I was in a terrible time crunch(wedding, party, and holiday event) and needed something done ASAP. Arté took me as a walk in, and asked that I come in around noon for a consult. I met with Denise who was professional, and understanding at the same time. My hair didn't look "bad" but it wasn't what I'd asked for. I don't think the last salon had any bad intentions with my hair but they just weren't able to give me what I'd asked for (despite a picture and revisiting it during a 6 hour appointment.) Denise showed me several swatches and told me she'd do the best she could to rid my hair of the copper color, or mute it as much as possible. The end result is actually much closer to the color I'd originally wanted done. I went from copper/auburn to a warm brown/slight caramel color and I love it.

My original stylist, Emma, had to cancel last minute due to illness, which I completely understood. Since I was heading out of town for vacation and needed my hair done beforehand, the salon rescheduled me for that Saturday with another stylist (whom I won't name out of courtesy). Unfortunately, the appointment went terribly. I was quoted a price and given a timeframe of 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for a tone, glaze, and haircut. I ended up being there from 11 a.m. until after 3 p.m. nearly four hours and I never even received the haircut. The total price I paid was much more than originally quoted (even without the haircut) The color process was poorly executed: my hair came out overly ashy, spotty, and completely off from what I requested. The stylist had to re-glaze it, but I was still charged for that re-glaze even though it was correcting her own mistake. I also specifically said I didn't want a full blow-dry just enough to make sure my hair looked okay for my trip but I was still charged for a full 30-minute blow dry I never wanted. Worse, during the service, I told the stylist that my scalp was hurting, and she dismissed it, saying it was probably just "stress." When I got home, my husband noticed visible burn marks on my scalp. That was alarming and honestly made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Then, she told me she wanted to dry my hair before cutting it, which is not standard and made me extremely uncomfortable. At that point, I was so uneasy with the entire experience that I lied and said I had another appointment just to get out of the chair. I left without a haircut and very upset. To the salon's credit, the owner personally reached out to me afterward, apologized, and promised to make it right. Although it couldn't be fixed immediately due to the holiday weekend and my vacation, they followed through... When I returned, Emma (my original stylist) was finally able to see me, and she did an incredible job. She corrected the color beautifully, gave me a deep shampoo treatment, and finally gave me the haircut I'd originally booked. She's professional, kind, and clearly knows what she's doing. I'm not writing this to bash Starz Salon. Mistakes happen but clients should never leave with burns, poor color, or feeling dismissed. That said, it's not about how you start, but how you finish and the salon made sure I was taken care of in the end. Thank you, Emma and the team, for turning it around.

I'm letting it stand, keeping in mind that two stars on Yelp is, as they note, "Meh. I've experienced better"--not "aaah the world is ending." (I did take out one line that was a little unnecessary at the end!) ----------------- Perhaps you should just go here for other services Yelpers recommend, but I tried going--based on the glowing reviews here--for a bridal hair and makeup trial and could not have been more disappointed. Neither the stylist (Trish) nor the makeup artist (Preeti) paid any attention whatsoever to what I asked for, and both were very resistant to make any changes and just told me they could do things differently on my wedding day. Um. Not the point of a trial. Maybe it was late in the day and they wanted to go home, or had bad days, whatever, but it sucked. Plus I went with two friends and they were made to feel about as uncomfortable as guests could possibly feel--in a basically empty salon. I left feeling absolutely terrible about myself, with an updo that frizzed out within two hours, and makeup I washed off when I got home it made me so unhappy. (Also: when a makeup artist stabs you in the eye, it happens; but they should probably say a quick "sorry" rather than point out how now they're going to have to redo your bottom lid liner.) I left a voicemail at the salon saying I was unhappy with services and canceling my bridal appointment. They did not call back. Two weeks before my wedding and $125 invested, I have to find somewhere else to go. Two stars because the salon uses high quality makeup, and people were generally friendly.
