I hate to leave a bad review for this salon because my stylist was so nice. I have wrestled with…read morewriting this review for a week. I decided I must write it to alert others, considering the poor quality of the work and the high price of the service. I'm including photos, which were taken about 15 minutes after I left the salon. (Note the gobs of dark hair dye still in my ear and the dye smudged across my cheek and temple.) My stepson said to me: "I thought you had your hair dyed. There's still a ton of grey." I had asked for my hair to be dyed dark brown to match my natural color and cover my grey. I don't think my stylist covered my entire head with dye. I think she only covered some parts of my hair in dye. I'm not sure why. Yes, I certainly could have turned around the car and complained and had the salon fix their work. But is that my responsibility? For $119 (a single-process color, cut and blow dry), shouldn't we expect the salon to make sure the work is high quality before we leave the salon? This salon should have been ashamed to let me leave in the condition I was in.

Salon offered me a full refund and did not issue it. I called and emailed…read more In the past I thought my stylist, Hayley, the owner was honest. We had a good relationship and she had encouraged me to come back if there was a problem with my hair. When I called after trying out something new with the coverage of my hair color, I received a message about their struggle to make me happy. She does have difficulty with Asian hair and coloring. Hayley also completely stood me up, and everyone in her shop one day, because she said she overslept after talking with her ex husband all night, and let her phone die. The two other workers in the salon that day could not find nor reach her or her mother on behalf of me and other clients. The degree of difficulty and time it takes to get coloring correct, standing up an client, and coming to me, asking me to fix her LAN because the printer wouldn't work.... I didn't charge her for this service. I'm earned an MSW but maybe she thought I was good with electronics because I am Asian, and how Main stream Americans view the Model Minority in America. I wonder if this is the reality I live in now as an Asian-American. Is this really how most Americans feel when discussing how political climates affect minorities? You find out how people really feel when you discuss Trump and how he has incited White racists to action. I'm so disappointed that in a progressive town like Sudbury where I have mixed race families, one of which is mine, all White owned businesses are still shocked to hear about racism against Asians and Jews in America. My daughter is part ethnically Jewish and Asian, and 100% American. At one moment, I paused and asked the owner, Hayley Mearan, daughter of Bonnie O., if I was making her or anyone uncomfortable and she laughed and said absolutely not. I asked if she minded me saying how I felt, the White owner lied and said if anything her closest friend and co-worker felt similar. Then when I was reinvited to return by email to make an appointment, I found out that they would not like my patronage at their business. So they either made a mistake or deliberately they did this to make known their racist feelings, hawking their supremacy over me and my comments. This is when the owner said she thought my remarks were 'racist,' [against Whites]. Racism is part of systematic power in our society. I am an Asian immigrant discussing the current political climate of the country. Social power is in the hands of White people (mostly White men), in this case the owner - mother and daughter. Disgusting to find this out after years of thinking I was in civilized company.

(4/5) I want to…read moreshare my full experience at Starz Salon because while things ended on a great note, the beginning was incredibly stressful and disappointing. My original stylist, Emma, had to cancel last minute due to illness, which I completely understood. Since I was heading out of town for vacation and needed my hair done beforehand, the salon rescheduled me for that Saturday with another stylist (whom I won't name out of courtesy). Unfortunately, the appointment went terribly. I was quoted a price and given a timeframe of 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for a tone, glaze, and haircut. I ended up being there from 11 a.m. until after 3 p.m. nearly four hours and I never even received the haircut. The total price I paid was much more than originally quoted (even without the haircut) The color process was poorly executed: my hair came out overly ashy, spotty, and completely off from what I requested. The stylist had to re-glaze it, but I was still charged for that re-glaze even though it was correcting her own mistake. I also specifically said I didn't want a full blow-dry just enough to make sure my hair looked okay for my trip but I was still charged for a full 30-minute blow dry I never wanted. Worse, during the service, I told the stylist that my scalp was hurting, and she dismissed it, saying it was probably just "stress." When I got home, my husband noticed visible burn marks on my scalp. That was alarming and honestly made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Then, she told me she wanted to dry my hair before cutting it, which is not standard and made me extremely uncomfortable. At that point, I was so uneasy with the entire experience that I lied and said I had another appointment just to get out of the chair. I left without a haircut and very upset. To the salon's credit, the owner personally reached out to me afterward, apologized, and promised to make it right. Although it couldn't be fixed immediately due to the holiday weekend and my vacation, they followed through... When I returned, Emma (my original stylist) was finally able to see me, and she did an incredible job. She corrected the color beautifully, gave me a deep shampoo treatment, and finally gave me the haircut I'd originally booked. She's professional, kind, and clearly knows what she's doing. I'm not writing this to bash Starz Salon. Mistakes happen but clients should never leave with burns, poor color, or feeling dismissed. That said, it's not about how you start, but how you finish and the salon made sure I was taken care of in the end. Thank you, Emma and the team, for turning it around.

This is the first time that I went to this particular salon to get my daughter's hair highlighted…read more Just as Donna had confirmed, my daughter is a natural blonde with dark roots. We asked for a full highlight and haircut with no blow dry. When we arrived home, my daughter went and dried her hair and literally lost her mind! Her highlights were orange color with a huge quarter inch strip of highlight that ran parallel to her center part on the right side. After spending $262 (tip included), all I wanted was my daughter to absolutely love her hair! I called the salon back immediately and told them that highlights were brassy orange with a huge strip that was present, they asked me to come back in. 25 minutes later we arrived back. I will say they were apologetic and she had no doubt that she would be able to fix it. Growing frustrated with the situation, I decided to go down the street and get a few groceries while she was getting it "fixed". When I got back to get her, the huge strip that was parallel to her part was gone and some of the brassiness was taken away, but there were absolutely no blonde highlights! Deeply disturbed and saddened that I spent this much money and did not get at all what we wanted. No offer to rectify the situation, otherwise. I would not be surprised to find this hair salon to be the next building to be vacant within that area. Absolutely horrible, do not go to this salon.

She extended me a $12 credit for the price mix-up and applied a 40% discount for a future service. Frankly, I am shocked that she didn't just offer me a free manicure to make it right. I don't write reviews very often, so this situation obviously really upset me. She tried to explain her side of the story for over 30 minutes, even though I said I understood. She just kept harping on the fact that my gels from Thailand were super hard to remove. I don't dispute that, but the nail tech never should have attempted a rush manicure, and an offer for a free manicure is what I would expect. She's asked me to remove this review. I may try another service at 40% off, but I'm not sure if I want to do so. ------------------------------------------------------------ I came in to get a mani/pedi because they were offering a 40% discount. I had no idea that I would come out of there with a decent pedicure, but a horrible manicure, that cost over $100. I was unaware that my toes had gel on them. It took FOREVER to remove them. No one told me that I would be charged extra, nor what that fee would be. Getting the pedicure took so long that she said she no longer had time for my manicure because they were closing. She offered to do a quick polish. She did not get all of the previous gel off my nails, so they were left bumpy. The nail room was also hot because the AC was barely working. The chairs did not provide a massage like most places. The final cost was something like $130. With 40% off, it should have cost around $50. Since they were closing, I was polite and just gave them my credit card. A few days later, I called the director to complain and asked for an itemized record of the charges. She never called me back. I went somewhere else to get my manicure fixed. They DID NOT charge me for taking the gel off. I will never go back to this salon. I can't believe they didn't even call me back.
