First Class Water came out in October 2024 because my dining room ceiling was showing signs of a water leak. the technician came out and determined that it was my bathtub faucet which was loose that was causing the problem. I asked the technician to cut and check the ceiling and he said he preferred not to. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about. However, he did not. When another company went to cut the damage ceiling they noticed the wall was still wet and was able to see the pipe was leaking. In fact, the bathroom plumbing wasn't even in this section. Had the First Class Water technician did a thorough job, he would have been able to properly diagnose the issue and it wouldn't have cost me additional money to fix what they should have. read more

Don't use this company! They replaced my regular water heater with a power vent without giving me the options. What's worse is that they installed a power vent water heater in June of 2022 that was manufactured in 2016. So the warranty on this unit expired only six months after it's installed in my house. To make the matter worse, they charge me over $1000 to modify my house to accommodate this power vent Water heater. After only 3 1/2 years having this old water heater, I have to spend another $785 to get a new one installed and won't modifications needed because it wasn't done correctly last time. I called first class water heaters within 15 minutes & they had a record of my request. no one was available to service me over the weekend but they had a technician out Monday afternoon. he came inspected and made incredible recommendations including providing education regarding how to prevent future issues. I missed their return call on Tuesday to complete the service. If I could leave ZERO stars I would. Came to fix the tub faucet and replaced it with a very cheap version that broke within 3 weeks. Currently unable to even take a shower. When the technician Sergio came, he immediately became upset because we asked him to wear shoe covers (we have a crawling infant) and to speak in a low voice because we'd just gotten the baby to sleep. He continued to speak loudly and slammed the baby gate shut on his way into the house. After looking at the issue, he came back and said he didn't have any parts to fix it and we'd need to wait again for another person to come back. Again, we asked him to speak in a lower voice and he then told us someone would be back out and to make sure we scheduled it during a time when our baby wasn't sleeping. Poor customer service We were assigned this vendor through our home warranty. It took a long time to have them out for the water heater--they were assigned on 1/12 and finally came out on 1/18. We were told we needed a new water heater. Since we needed a new tank, wanted to look into upgraded options such as a larger tank or a tankless system. I called First Class and was told the rep would call me back with pricing options. No one called. I called First Class 2x and even left a message, and when I finally connected with the staff, again they said the rep would call me. Eventually he did but he was not sure if our Home Warranty would allow us to upgrade. He said First Class would call me later that day and tell me what the options were and that if we went with a bigger tank, he could install it on Monday. No one called. I called again during business hours but only got a voicemail and again no one called me back. It's now Monday and I called first thing. When I explained the urgency and frustration that I had yet to receive a call back among the many times I was told I would receive a call or in response to my voicemails, the staff defended the situation stating the rep had eventually called, denying that they'd ever not called me back. For frame of reference, we have young children and we we don't have hot water, can't shower, run our dishwasher, or washer/dryer. We've been bouncing around to friends houses to do these things for over a week now. In total, it will be 13 days without hot water. There's been no urgency from First Class, no customer service, and this is why I do not recommend this vendor read more

I'm sure they would be fine if you hired them to come out and replace your water heater for you, but they were assigned to us from our home warranty provider. When the work was all done, the technician told my wife there would be an additional $100 charge, even though he had no invoice or receipt showing any extra charge. He told her that we would receive an email the following day with the invoice. Total BS..!! To avoid confrontation, and not knowing that I already paid the deductible for the replacement, my wife wrote a check to him for $100, then he left. She immediately called me and let me know about it. I made a few calls, one to their company, one to my home warranty provider, and one to my bank to place a stop payment on the check! The technician, Harrison, did not diagnose the problem with my kitchen faucet, and made a report to my insurance company that did not represent the circumstances accurately. As a result, the claim was denied for extremely unfair reasons. On another occasion, he told me the leak in my shower could only be fixed by removing the tile and cutting a hole in the wall. A second plumber was shocked at that diagnosis and was able to easily repair the problem without disturbing the tile. I would not trust this individual to perform the services of a reputable licensed plumbing contractor. read more

The tech, Charles, who came out to look at it didn't even ask where the leak was and told us he would order this certain type of piping for the house. And suggested we just repipe our entire house instead of repairing the leak which he quoted would be around $3,000-$10,000. A week goes by, mind you WE CANT USE OUR WATER AT ALL in our house and we were patiently waiting on them to fix the leak. Then we find out from our home owners insurance that Charles canceled our claim and we had to start over with a new company. He never returned my messages and canceled our claim. A different plumbing company came out and found the leak, turns out the type of piping Charles claimed he ordered isn't even what we have in our house. I'm going to give 5 stars for the tech who replaced our water heater. He was on time, professional, and efficient. Great work. The one star goes to the back-office staff, specifically Andrea. Home warranty requires the homeowner to provide the repair company with a $75 check, which I gave to the tech. I have been traced multiple times by Home Warranty for lack of payment, which is the responsibility of First Class Water Heaters, since they collected the deductible payment. When I talked to Andrea, she decided to give me a banking 101 class on how the check process works, really? She then asked for a check number - who writes that down these days? She threw the responsibility to me and took no accountability for possibly misplacing the check. Even if the check wasn't cashed, I now have a check floating around with my bank account number exposed. First based on responsive of the Owner, Dave Ballard. Dave is very professional and attentive. On a Monday, my 15YO water heater gave up the ghost and I was without hot water. My home warranty company called upon First Class Water Heater to evaluate the issue. That same day, I received a scheduling call from Monique, indicating Pedro would be there at 10am the next day (Tuesday) and would call me 20 minutes before he arrived. On Tuesday, Pedro called me just before 10am and showed up as promised. He and Charles quickly determined the problem and told me that when they left, they would contact my home warranty company to request authorization to replace the unit. They managed to get my old unit fired up and I was able to shower before it conked out. By 3pm Tuesday, my home warranty company had called me to confirm that I would be able to take care of paying for the items that were not covered by the warranty. I requested a cost breakdown from First Class, and Monique emailed it to me. I authorized the home warranty company for the non-covered costs, and by 4pm Monique had scheduled the guys back out for Wednesday. FAST! On Wednesday, the guys gave me a 20 minute heads up phone call on their way to me, and arrived as promised about 2pm. They drained the old unit and reinstalled a brand new unit, bringing it up to code with an expansion tank and gas line drop. NOTE- the draining of the old unit was the longest part of the installation. Why? Because whoever owned the house before me did not drain it each year as recommended. You should have seen how much sediment came out of the old unit. And the sediment kept blocking the drainline. So people, DRAIN YOUR WATER HEATER ANNUALLY! Lol. When Charles went to connect the overflow piping to the existing copper pipe under my house, the riser came off in his hand. Apparently the original installers never soldered the joint! Now, the crawlspace under my house is tight, muddy, and probably filled with bugs and spiders. Charles didn't even bat an eye and crawled under with his torch and flux to solder the joint. The guys were done by 5. Again most of the time was spent trying to drain the unit. Once it was drained and removed, the actual install took about an hour (including Charles' adventure under the house). The guys were courteous and professional, taking time to explain things to me as they went and answer my questions (and I ask a lot of questions.) We had a GREAT experience with Eli from First Class Water Heaters. We recently purchased a home and our water heater stopped working shortly after closing. We first had another company come who came for 5 minutes and told us there's no way the unit could have been functioning when we bought it (even though we had been using the hot water...) and that it needed to be fully replaced. We then had First Class Water Heaters come out - Eli did a thorough investigation, and within a short amount of time he was able to identify the issue and got the water heater working again!! They contacted us the that night; however, they had to wait until morning for a claim number from Fidelity. I called First Class the next morning at 8:00 am. Their serviceman, Jamie, was in our area and arrived at our home within 30 minutes! Jamie was great; he was professional, friendly, and efficient. Problem solved quickly and hot water restored within 30 minutes. My friend just bought a new home in Tracy and already the boiler broke and leaked within the first month. Also the Kohler brand toilet seals is broken causing the tank to refill every 20 minutes. Replacing the seal is difficult with this brand and so in general the warrantee company would just replace it with a cheap toilet. The warrantee company sent out Carlos from the First Class Water Heaters. Carlos was great! He was a honest man. He saw that our toilet was Kohler to be replaced by a cheap toilet from Home Depot and told me about it. He did not just install it and go. He offered us an option to upgrade the toilet by adding more money to cover what the warrantee payout. In this case, we added $109 more and got another Kohler toilet. Carlos was workmanship was very good. He left the place clean. Both the boiler and toilet was done in 3 hours. I am really happy about this and would recommend the First Class Water Heaters.. Our 2 less-than 2 year old water heater had the pilot light go out back on Tuesday, 02/15/2022. We were able to relight the pilot a few times, however, it wouldn't stay lit longer than a minute. When Pedro Ramirez showed up on Thursday 02/24/2022, he had to call to verify my address because they ladies who set up the appointment input an incorrect address for a neighbor's place across the court, no biggy. I thought he was there to fix the water heater. It says he's a plumber on his business card he handed me. Apparently, all he was there to do was to take a picture of the water heater to send some info to the warranty company so they could let them know what they would cover.... He then proceeded to tell me about how the younger guys getting into the plumbing field either just want to keep staying at home collecting their government checks for doing nothing or want to do the quickest/easiest work and try to get rich quick. He went on to say the plumbers actually working are overwhelmed and backed up 2-3 weeks... That's all fine and dandy, but would you fix my water heater so my family can have hot water again? If he would have been willing to just fix it right then and there, I would have handed him nice, crisp, hundred dollar bills to cover the service. Weighing words vs actions, based on his action (taking a photo of the water heater and then leaving), I'm left thinking that perhaps he's one of the younger guys he was telling me about, wanting to do the quickest/easiest work, instead of getting the job done. Here it is, Saturday, 02/26/2022, water, cold as the swiss alps, not feeling very confident this is going to be fixed for awhile still. Update - 02/28/2022 I've got to hand it to First Class Water Heaters. They really came through and got the situation I shared in my initial review taken care of. My initial review was crafted out of a true lack of understanding of the home warranty process regarding taking care of these issues, and it is a legit process. Nobody's happy about it, but it does take some time and the primary reason it took a week longer to get my water heater issue resolved was that the first company enlisted to call me (Budget Rooter), never did. I was even given their number to call if they hadn't called me within a day or so and I did. However, I wasn't able to reach anyone at Budget Rooter, nor even leave a message. After giving them a few days to reach out to me and them not doing so, I reported that and the home warranty company reached out to First Class Water Heaters. In short, in less than a full week from the time First Class Water Heaters were on the job, they got a new, higher quality water heater installed. Pedro Ramirez was the man who got the job done and although my first review didn't shed the best light on him, that was largely due to me not fully understanding the process (even though Pedro did give me a quick, basic explanation), and from the duress of already having been without hot water for over a week. In the end, Pedro is truly a good, honest, skilled plumber. I appreciate him, thank you sir, you did a great job. And this review wouldn't be complete without a thank you to Andrea from the office as well. She called me regularly to keep me in the loop and that was very much appreciated as well.
