First Choice services our community. Even though First Choice claims that they rotate the areas in our community every 4 weeks, this is not the case. The last row of 20 units is skipped on a regular basis because this row is unseen by the rest of the community. I have reported to the company on a regular basis. I submitted a bad review last week and they came the next time but STILL failed to trim this shrub in the picture. All they did was blow the walkway and trim the undergrowth from the larger trees. A referral from a trusted friend. Ed contacted me the day after I left a message on his phone. I received a visit and proposal that day. I agreed to the proposal, and Ed had the scheduler contact me, and they used their #1 crew. The crew was here at 7:05 AM, as promised. They did not ring the bell, as promised, but just went to work. They pruned 2 huge trees, one average sized tree, and removed 3 cedars. They worked for 5 hours, and left the yard cleaner than when they arrived. The backyard looks amazing, and I think I will need some landscaping to fill some of the holes. The huge pine in front of the house looks new and vibrant. Well, they promised an arborist would be on site. The cutters showed up on time, sans arborist, and decimated my previously beautiful mesquite tree. My wife cried when she saw the buzz cut job. It will take years to regrow. This company advertises that they adhere to ANSI 300 guidelines, which limit trimming to no more than 25%. These guys easily cut more than 50%. The price goes up significantly each time I've used them. They charge a minimum time fee and then spend way less time then that. They should tell customers that they could include other trees on the property to use up the "minimum time". It's not like I know how long it takes. One of my trees had excessive bulk that looked crappy and should have been trimmed better. It took several calls to set up the appointment too. I had to keep calling to check when they would do it risking a hefty fee from my HOA. I'm looking elsewhere for tree trimming services this time. read more

We have used this company for the last two years to trim our single palm and we loved them! Ro would always take time to listen to what I needed and was great to work with. The crew was professional and did a great job. After our initial year, we received an annual letter in January scheduling us for the summer, as the summer books up very quickly. It was a great service to provide and a load off my mind, one less thing to remember! I called this year in June because I hadn't gotten an email to confirm the time for our summer trim and was told A) Ro is no longer with the company B) they have decided to stop providing the prescheduling service in 2016 and I am not scheduled at all (they provided no notice to the change in policy) and "let me tell you, June is FULL!" C) they need to come see the same tree they have been servicing for the past 2 years to give a new estimate - which is now $100 more than previous years!! The person I spoke with was perfectly nice until I started asking questions about the changes in practice. She then became very curt with me, telling me the company is now "doing a lot of things very different". Well, I guess so. She was willing to give me next to no information to go on, telling me I had to wait 24-48 hours for an estimate, then I could get back to her to reschedule. I asked when the 1st available she had was, so I could get an idea of when I would be able to get service and she replied "July 1st, but YOU'RE not going to get that! People are sending in their proposals today. YOU have to wait 48 hrs." When I asked for an idea of how their pricing had changed or a ballpark figure of what a palm trim would run now, I was told she would not discuss prices and I would simply have to wait for an estimate. The estimate I finally received stated their minimum price for a job is now $225, so why she couldn't inform me of this blanket policy change up front, I'm not sure. The arborist said he would throw in trimming a small palm in the yard because the price was so high. No thank you. I was told, after I questioned further, that the company is under the same ownership and management with the same crew working, but that Ro is longer with the company. I am left to believe that Ro was the one holding the customer service together. I do not recommend this company if you need a small amount of work done. They seem to now only be interested in large jobs, as they have completely priced themselves out of range with every other company in town by $100. Wish they had let me know this before they started making all of their significant changes. read more

First off...If I could give 10 stars, this company would get them. I called First Choice Tree Service for an estimate and Eddy was at my house the next day. He had an estimate to me the following morning and the appointment was set for 3 days later. Eddy was awesome! I called the office and asked for their proof of insurance and within minutes, I had 10 pages of documentation in my email. The crew showed up bright and early this morning, along with Eddy. I was really concerned about an apricot and peach tree that I didn't want damaged. I was assured they would be safe. This crew took 6 trees down (2 of which were very large pine trees) and not a single thing in our yard was damaged, including an antique wagon. They even cut a few discs of pine for me to use as a cake stand. All of the guys were very courteous and cleaned up the yard so well. We are extremely impressed and couldn't be more thrilled with this company. Everyone was so helpful, everything was explained and they were true to their word on the service. I was out of town and my dad saw the landscaping guys for our HOA near my house. He and my mom were babysitting and house sitting while my wife and I were out or town. The crew referred my dad to First Choice Tree Service. I came home just as the estimator for the service was taking a look. I have been putting this off for about a year. My dad and I have tried to work on this tree and it's been brutal. This is for what we think to be a 10 year old eucalyptus. My neighbors were pleading to remove it. IT was killing my pool and theirs. We inherited the tree when we bought our house last year and moved in mid-March. This tree is beautiful, but filthy. It drops huge chunks of bark, tiny sharp clusters of what turn into thorns and leaves like crazy. We decided to take First Choice Tree Service up on their bid. The guys that came out were awesome!! They are very good at what they do. I felt very comfortable that nothing would hit my house or my neighbors. They were very controlled and skilled. Two men took care of bringing the tree down. Then another truck came with more help to haul it out. The safety supervisor stopped in to evaluate the work. I was working on my pool and was told by a worker, don't worry about that, we will take care of it. I was absolutely shocked and impressed by the amazing service. The price was less than a competitor had quoted several months earlier. They were on time and really made a positive impact. I will definitely recommend this company to anyone who asks.
