I've used Affordable Tree Service three times now for tree removals and replacements. They are super professional and give a lot of detail. They have actual arborists on staff that can provide a lot of information as well. Every estimate we've had with them has been very insightful and we never felt rushed or like they were upselling us. We had one issue with our first tree replacement that died pretty quickly after they planted it. But that was really because I wanted a particular tree that didn't bode well in full sun. Affordable tree service then suggested a better tree for the area and that we wait until after the summer months to plant it so that it had a better chance to survive. They then made the replacement with no cost to us. I would highly recommend using Affordable Tree Service for any tree or bush replacements you need done. I contacted ATS for an estimate on trimming and shaping a few trees. Schedule the appointment. Kim came out and this dude knows his stuff. The estimate was free, Kim was more than helpful and gave me a little history of the company and their crews. He was absolutely incredible to deal with. Explained the process, took pics, scheduled the date and time and ATS emailed me an estimate within a day. The day their crew showed up, they were punctual and professional. I had gotten off work and knocked out soon after they started. I woke up to my trees (two in the front yard and one in the back) shaped, trimmed away from the house and looking good! The cost was well within reason for the work performed. Since the crew left before I got up, I called ATS and spoke with a very nice woman. Explained the situation and she politely explained they usually invoice customers at the end of the day. I was using a card so, she took my info over the phone and settled my bill right there! Company Accountability and Service Quality I believe companies should take responsibility for their mistakes, but this particular company has failed to do so. Short Story: After a subpar job of planting a new tree, they added three incorrect water drips and used an existing one from one of my brushes and added splitters. This resulted in low water pressure in my front yard. I sent photos and videos to Eric, but he still did not acknowledge that his team made mistakes. I suspect that because I am a woman, he assumed I lacked knowledge about water drips and trees. However, I always do my research and inspect the work before making any payments. Before you consider hiring a budget service, please ensure to check their work. They installed a new tree and set up the water drips in less than 20 minutes, which raises concerns about their quality, all on video. (See attached photo). I needed to have 9 oleander shrubs cut from my yard. They were extremely time-efficient. They had a whole village of workers show up for the job, and were in-and-out within 30 minutes. We are so impressed. We recommend Affordable Tree. We called and they came out and Kim gave us different options. Affordable Tree not only takes out trees but will do landscaping. On their bid they informed us what type of tree was being removed. On the bid their contractors license number was listed, they have a ISA certified arborists on board, they are bonded, insured, and carry workers comp on their employees. I've personally maintained our palm trees for over 5 years now. Our residence is very unique, and backs up against an apartment complex. Part of the monthly trimming is to remove the lower dead branches, thin out the fronds between the two trees, but also maintain the privacy so the neighbors can't look right down into our yard. As the palm trees have grown taller, I have needed to use a ladder because my pole saw is only so long. Because I had just finished a medical procedure, I didn't want to get on the ladder (I'm 53), and requested a tree service to thin out the fronds and maintain the privacy. While I was at work, the tree service company arrived at the residence, and performed the work (side gate was left unlocked for their access). When I returned home I was absolutely mortified, stunned, and shocked. The below picture (before and after) clearly showcases the damage, and completely erasure of all privacy that I have worked so diligently to maintain for over 5 years. As you can see from the left side photo, the tree company sheared off every single frond for a 6 foot swath. I called and discussed with the company the issue at the length. They offered to discount the work by $50. I told the company to send me the full bill because this was not a money issue. The company explained it was a communication issue, and that they don't even "trim" palm trees like I had wanted, and would have had no idea of how to even bill that. This is a prime example of a big box company not listening to the little guy. It's pretty obvious from the photo what was going on for over 5 years. If I had wanted the palm trees sheared all the way to the top I could have done that myself for the past 5 years. This is absolutely ridiculous. I would have left 0 stars if it would have let me. I understand the company has many good reviews, that is not the issue. When I company is the doing this volume of work they are operating on auto pilot and not paying attention to the little details. I obviously can't get my privacy back, and during the phone calls with the company, they kept insisted the shade will come back. Again, not listening to the little guy. Well no duh the top shade will come back, that WAS NOT why I was having the trees trimmed. OMG. Never again will I call this company....ever.... In response to Eric's deceptive response. This is exactly what got your company the bad review on the first place. Yes, I declined the $50 discount and told you this was NOT about the money. Yes, you offered to come out and fertilize, but that is not the issue! Where you cut the fronds off nothing will make them grow back! They provided measurable visible blockage from the neighbors, but apparently you still don't grasp that concept. I don't need the top fronds to grow faster with fertilizer to add shade, that was never the issue. I had 2 separate phone conversations with your company, and you initially said you didn't even remember our specific property. Probably because you operate and auto pilot and don't listen to the customer. It's pretty clear from the growth and what the palm trees looked like how I have maintained them for 5 years. If I had just wanted everything chopped off I could have done that myself long ago. There was no reason for you to come out because they was no viable fix since you can't glue the fronds back on. I was told over the phone their prices start at around $175 per tree, when i called and spoke with who does the estimates, they quoted us almost $380 per tree when i requested the easiest, simplest, and most cost efficient solution. Which i had been previously been told started around $175. For them to plant 2 trees, and grind 2 stumps i was quoted almost $700. I got a quote with another company to actually remove the stumps, and plant bigger trees than what these guys were offering, for $350. Had a stump ground out by Affordable Tree. We called on the phone. They had us text a photo with a tape measure laying across a multi-trunk stump. (We had removed the tree ourselves). They gave us a very honest and reasonable quote over the phone. We were contemplating renting a stump grinder and doing a DIY. Their quote was so close to the rental.
