Inspected a newer home I'm purchasing and surprisingly found something to get fixed. Was not a deal breaker, but I would have never noticed if he didn't bring it up. Would recommend. read more

Price is way too high compared to other home inspectors. Last inspection I had done cost me $350. He is $225 above that! Report is way too thin, lacks depth and detail, not enough photos. Last inspector I used before him took over 200 photos. Missed many problems and possibly didn't even check certain things. No mention in report at all about non-functioning electrical outlet in master bath. No mention about leaking irrigation pipe in backyard. No mention about ductwork in range hood unsealed. No mention of window frames separating from glass. Didn't notice some windows are difficult to open. Missed three dual pane windows that have bad seals. He said he only found one. Told us that "This house has no sewer cleanout." When I pointed to the cleanout in the concrete next to the master bath wall he said, "That's not it." Plumber confirmed I was right. Didn't put stucco water damage near garage doors in report until I asked for it to be included! Need I say more? I do not recommend. read more

Loved that Steve was so detailed about everything. He brought up things that we would have never noticed. Amazing attention to detail. He was also very knowledgeable and explained everything to us very clearly and suggested to follow up on a few items. I would highly recommend him for anyone's home inspection! read more

Steve refused to put on a mask during an inspection even after signing and agreeing to wear one. The sellers were home and shocked by his behavior, but wanted to sell their home. He did not warn me he was going to ignore what he signed. Apparently, he claims his voice recognition software was hampered by the mask, but didn't even wear one and pull it down when he spoke. Oddly enough, this wasn't an issue with his mask a few months ago. This is simply not ok. Moreover. He didn't check the steam unit or sauna which only required him to touch a button to make sure they went on. Needless to say, this arrogance and total disregard for the COVID entry form he signed is not acceptable. read more

We were very impressed with Steve, he is techie with all his gadgets and very articulate in his explanations. His reports are thorough and professional, will definitely recommend. read more

Excellent organization, comprehensive reporting, punctuality and professionalism. Thanks Steve.

Steve was available right away for our inspection and identified many issues, thus playing a key role in our transaction.

Yelp indicated a 3 day response time but it took 5 minutes! . Steve picked up when I called today and I had my inspection scheduled for tomorrow within 5 minutes! Will update my review after the inspection, but Steve was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, polite and gave me a referral for a structural inspector. read more

We enjoyed having Steve at First Choice Inspections review two potential homes we were buying. He was professional, efficient, on time, knowledgeable and friendly. We were steered clear of homes we felt were unsafe and had too much work involved for a couple of our age to handle. We were very pleased with Steve and his company, how quickly we got our information, very thorough reports with a handy "summary section" you could print for your repairs after purchase. Thanks again, Steve, for making time to help us in our hours of need. Best of luck to you and we'll refer business your way. read more

First time home-buyer here. Steve was very professional, easy to understand, and friendly. He used lots of pictures and simple explanations of what and why we had fix or think about fixing. Despite us not knowing anything about home construction, everything in his report was very clear. This helped in trying to assess what was worth money/time into and what we would hold off on. A huge help. Scheduling was quick and we had our report within a day. Excellent. read more

We invited Steve over to provide an assessment regarding water intrusion and water damage at two separate locations at the house (pinhole leak in garage wall and water intrusion and damage at deck due to inappropriate water proofing). We were very impressed with his professionalism, level of detail, follow up, and customer service. Steve is a true professional and he provides the level of expertise and technical knowledge that help a home owner make the best decisions and protect their assets. Additionally, Steve demonstrated a high level of integrity and technical knowledge, prompt communication and turn around of the report. Having worked with several home inspectors over the years, we were quite impressed with Steve and think he is one of the best in his field. read more

Our inspector was fantastic! He found the smallest issues we did not even expect for him to check. He was communicative, timely, and helped assure us of his findings ESPECIALLY when we felt pressured that the issues were "not issues." He really was on our side and after time we found that he was absolutely correct! Thank you sooo so much for your fantastic work FCI! read more

Steve was great. We had him inspect our downtown condo we purchased in San Diego. We learned a lot about potential risks in the process as well as the types of questions to ask the seller or HOA as it related to things needing to be fixed. He is extremely prompt to reply. The payment options were easy. He also offers mold inspections (but no samples), which was OK in our case as he didn't see anything to be concerned with. I'm taking away one star only because he thought some water dripping out of the fridge was from him filling up the tray under the water outlet to ensure it worked, but I asked to take a closer look and we found it was a more serious issue where there was rust at the bottom of the door from this leak. He was very thorough and detail oriented everywhere else so I let it slide and am happy I asked him to take a second look there. read more

Steve was a professional through and through. He did a great job finding every little detail a new home buyer needs to see/know. He was on time and gave us a thorough inspection report we could make wise decisions on. In fact, he did another inspection for us a week or two later (after we pulled out reading all the work that needed to be done on the first house). He got us in quickly the second time and moved us up, a few days later when someone had to reschedule their time. Perfect! read more

Steve at First Choice Inspections did an absolutely fantastic job inspecting the new home we are purchasing. The report was bar none the most comprehensive home inspection I've ever seen. Detailed descriptions of issues and potential issues accompanied by pictures to show exactly what he is talking about. His inspection was so thorough, he even ran the serial numbers on the appliances to find out if there were any recalls we should be aware of. The guy is top notch and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my home inspection. I see that Jen J. mentioned she had an issue with Steve, and I'm not sure what happened there, but I do know that he's a stand-up guy and really does care about customer satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone and her account is the opposite of what I've come to expect from First Choice. Highly recommended and I'll definitely be a returning customer. read more

First Choice handled my home inspection in San Diego. It was a beautiful home built in 1925, and as a result all systems needed thorough inspection. Steve found a number of items that I needed to address with the seller. He gave me specific details that helped my realtor the tools he needed to negotiate a successful deal so we could close escrow. I have had a number of home inspections over the years, First Choice was head and shoulders above the rest! read more

Home inspection at it's finest!! There is really nothing I can say differently than the other reviews other than Steve is amazing. His job was done with complete professionalism, knowledge, and thorough! The report and pictures left nothing to the imagination. It helped us make the decision to walk away from the house we were in escrow with due to the long laundry list of repairs. We are currently in escrow with another property and there was no reservation to contact Steve to schedule the inspection. Without reservation, this is your guy!!! read more

Using Steve was one of the best decisions I made during my home buying process! He was very professional and arrived early. Upon arrival Steve walked me through everything that he was going to be doing and after answering my questions he immediately began his inspection. I would definitely recommend Steve to anyone looking to buy a home; his report was very thorough! Steve did a great job during the Inspection of our new home. He was very knowledgeable and pointed out all areas of concern. Thank you!

Even though we have bought and sold 3 houses now, it has been a few years, so we asked a very good friend in the real estate business for a recommendation for a property inspector. We couldn't have been more impressed by Steve's professionalism and the thoroughness of his report! He covered EVERYTHING with detailed explanations as well as photos. We, the potential buyers, were with the owners while Steve conducted his inspection, and Steve was invisible when he needed to be and very personable & objective when any of us had questions. I highly recommend him, and we will DEFINITELY use him again! read more

We recently had Steve from First Choice Inspections come out for a new property for us. He coordinated an easy payment system online with a credit card to get started. Steve was also flexible as we needed to adjust our inspection date, coordinating times that worked for us repeatedly and was the first to show up onsite when we finally were ready for the inspection. His inspection was diligent, as was his tour afterwards summarizing his findings, separating must-fixes from should or would-fixes, and politely discussing the changes between us and the seller. His full detailed report with pictures of each finding was available within a few hours of the inspection which allowed us to quickly prepare for next steps with the seller. When we asked for some higher resolution photos of some of the findings, within minutes he had shared the full resolution raw images straight from his camera using dropbox. Over 500MB gave us complete detail. Finally, his responses over email were fast, and he's offered to follow-up afterwards on some of the items fixed to double-check and we are happy to recommend him for others. read more
