I had a pre home inspection a few months ago. The reporting was very thorough. The process for scheduling, communicating, and payment are very simple to use. read more

Tyler did a pre-closure inspection for a house I recently bought. He was extremely thorough and I was very impressed with his remarkable attention to detail. He took the time to periodically stop to explain any significant findings as he went on with his work. His final report was really detailed and showed the effort that went into the inspection. I had a contingency on the offer and thanks to Tyler I was able to negotiate down the price of the house. Thank you Tyler! I would highly recommend him without a second thought! read more

My partner wrote this and I'm sharing it to Yelp: First Choice Home Inspection, run by Tyler Mittendorf, is absolutely phenomenal. He has, single-handedly, saved me quite a lot of money and I refer him to everybody I meet. When you buy a condo or a house, you should never skimp on inspection. When I bought my condo, I saw about 20 places and inspected 4. When I bought my house, I saw 120 and inspected 8. Tyler saved me from potential disaster in both of those ventures, and his inspection gave me the leverage to ask for repairs which would have been expensive down the road which I would otherwise not have seen. I have had places which provided pre-inspection, but because I trust Tyler more than any other inspector I've met, I always get his inspection on top of it, and every single time he has always caught things the other inspectors haven't. For example, one house provided a pre-inspection which found typical but not overly concerning issues. Tyler found the foundation was actually covered in a thin sheen of something which looked like concrete and which had over inch-wide cracks in it in multiple places. This saved me from a house I would have otherwise bid on and required more than $20,000 (at least) in repairs for. During the process of inspection, he is affable, he explains his thoughts and concerns, provides a good understanding of the issue so you can make a good decision. Despite all this, he is still affordable and his schedule is more available than most inspectors I have worked with. He is just an honest businessman doing a good job, and I trust him completely. I plan to continue to refer him to everyone I know, and I plan to continue using him for any inspection needs, including in a few years time to see what upkeep my house needs. read more

Tyler M. completed a full pre-offer home inspection for us on very short notice in early May 2020. He is an exceptional inspector and alerted me to current and potential ongoing concerns any property owner would want to be made aware of before diving into an offer. He was professional throughout the entire inspection process and explained in detail the major concerns of the home during a mask-to-mask post-inspection walkthrough. The inspection report arrived the following morning with clear and concise recommendations. For me, what separates him from other professionals I have engaged with is his openness to answering any concerns or questions weeks after the inspection. Tyler at First Choice Home Inspection will be my first call for any future inspection needs or property acquisitions and I would venture that his other previous clients would share the same sentiment. read more

Sorry! I thought I already did a review! Tyler provided a home inspection for me, I was having trouble with my roofer and the roofer's neglect was causing damages to my home. Tyler inspected my roof and crawl space (and the crawl space was no easy feat), and gave me a written report, with photos, on the corrections that needed to be made..he was thorough and very informative on what needed to be done. Thank you very much, Tyler!! I will definitely use your services again in the future and I recommend you to everyone I know. read more

I recently purchased a home a year ago and wanted to have another inspection done to see if a few issues noted in the previous inspection have gotten worse. Tyler did an awesome job answering my questions and alleviating some of my concerns, while also discovering a few other issues I hadn't known about, like evidence of rodents in the attic. Thank you! read more

Patrick gave me a good and detailed work given that made my job easy and gave me detail of both major issues at hand and possible concerns as well. He took the time to cover extra concerns and was patient and willing to share best practices also. I first choice for your next inspection. read more

"Great communication about all aspects of the inspection. Answered all of our questions. Thorough inspection and report. Thank you!"

I chose them based on Angie's List ratings and wasn't disappointed. With a couple hours of sending an online inquiry, Tyler got back to me and scheduled a time. He was exceptionally thorough, gave us a very useful report, and also was able to refer us to a specialist foundation inspector. Highly recommend. read more

Very thorough mold inspection. I would hire again.

Tyler came out to do a pre-listing inspection on a home we were the buyers for and was extremely thorough, helpful, and was at the ready for when we had questions upon reviewing the inspection report later that day. He got the inspection report to us very quickly, and explained everything very clearly, so we understood how minor or major an issue was/could be. Couldn't be happier with his service. Thanks Tyler!! read more

Tyler was professional and very very detailed. His findings that a previous inspector didn't find saved us thousands of dollars. I would recommend Tyler to anyone. Thank you Tyler! read more

Tyler is always on time and efficient with his inspections. Whether a question from the homeowner or myself he is right there with answers. Tyler has been my "go-to" for my last two Prelistings. Give him a call ... you won't be dissappointed! read more

Tyler came out twice to inspect a new-construction townhouse that I was purchasing in Seattle. He came out both times on short notice and arrived on time. His report was very thorough: he identified 13 items to fix, complete with photo evidence, and we were able to get these over to the seller/builder very quickly. He re-inspected these items as part of our final walkthrough and identified that about half of them hadn't been fixed. Tyler was professional and quick throughout the inspection process. I would recommend him to any other homebuyer. read more

We found Tyler Mittendorf (owner and sole inspector for the business) on Angie's list. Top ratings. Called him on Tuesday and he was able to come out to inspect a condo that we wanted to buy on Thursday. He is the best inspector we had ever seen! He charged us $325 for the service. With Angie's List, there is an additional $25 discount. His price is a bit steeper than most inspectors for an 1,100 sq ft condo. But the quality is incredible. (We previously paid $300 for a guy to inspect a 2,400 sq ft home. Thought it was a great deal. But it turned out to be the crappiest job we'd ever seen. The report didn't get to us until a week later. It was hand-written, with a few check boxes, and was all of 3-4 pages. He missed so many things that the appraiser later caught...and it ended up costing us the deal on the house.) Tyler was open to explaining to us what we were curious about as he went along. He came with all sorts of equipment, took pictures, voice recorded what he saw, and best of all, in my opinion, he kept a mellow, humble attitude about things. He typically schedules two inspections a day: 9:30 and 1:30. The inspection of our condo took him just under 2 hours. By 5pm, he will usually have the report emailed to you! We were thoroughly impressed with his work and would whole-heartedly recommend him! read more

I recently bought my first house and Lou was the perfect home inspector for a new homeowner. He is extremely detail-oriented and takes the time to explain anything that's an issue in the home. Whether he's on his hands and knees crawling behind a furnace, or up a ladder on the roof, he gets the job done. His many years of experience make him the perfect home inspector. He produced a quality report detailing everything about the property. Would highly recommend this service! read more

We were very impressed with our home inspection. Tyler was very responsive and scheduled our inspection within three days of our initial call. I met him on-site at the time we agreed to find him already on the roof and pointing out some potential trouble areas. He was extremely thorough and spent nearly five hours looking over, under and around the home. Even though this is a well-built custom house, Tyler found inconsistencies with electrical and ventilation systems, lighting and spoofs to expect repairs in the near future. He delivered a comprehensive, detailed report, as promised, later that night. We shared Tyler's findings with the seller and after finding many issues the seller was not aware of he agreed to reduce the sale price an additional 5%. Thanks Tyler! read more

Choosing Tyler for our home inspection was one of the best choices we made in the whole home buying process! He's very down to earth and easy to talk to, and is happy to answer any and all questions. Even for new construction like ours, there are so many contractors involved and so many little details that there are bound to be a few mistakes. In our case he spotted an issue and we had the builders address it prior to closing. If we hadn't had an inspection, we may not have found out until thousands of dollars of damage had occurred. We highly recommend Tyler and First Choice to anyone planning to buy a house! read more

The inspector, Lou who inspected my home for a buyer, found several things that he stated were needed and we're not. He said my windows had broken seals and needed a contractor to repair them when in fact they were just dirty, said an exhaust fan was inoperable when it was and left a circuit blown which left the refrigerator off the entire day. He said that I needed to regrade my entire yard when the photos clearly show that the yard is already sloped away from the house. Said I needed to add a sump pump to the crawl space when in 15 years, we have never had any flooding. From reading other reviews on Angie, I'm shocked they they have good reviews on here and Facebook. read more

Tyler at First Choice Home Inspection has been our go-to for over seven years, including pre-inspections for the purchase of two homes (and several hopefuls) and a pre-inspection prior to the selling of an existing home. He is extremely thorough, provides clear and detailed documentation in his report, and was responsive to our follow-up questions. Working with Tyler was the least stressful part of the home buying process and would strongly recommend him to others. read more

I have worked with Tyler several times when evaluating a home to purchase. He is consistently thorough and detailed oriented. He is easy to work with, takes the time to answer questions, and explains what he found in layman terms, including the impact of a finding. The detailed inspection reports follows promptly. He has saved us from getting into problem properties and at the same time allowed us to make sound decisions when we were really interested in a house. I was appalled by the arrogance of the inspector! Shay ripped several boards off the siding , left debris scattered all over the patio ( which took 45 minutes for me to sweep up), then proceeded to charge $750.00! I must have registered disgust and disbelief, as the next day he called and for fifteen minutes tried to justify that sum, saying companies do this all the time and insurance companies expect to pay?!?! No wonder cost s for insurance skyrocket! Then, yesterday another first choice homes rep called w an offer to reduce the bill to $500.00 for that two second job that left me w amess and exposed pipes! I do not what comes next, but would NEVER recommend this company! read more

Tyler did a great job for us when inspecting our new construction home. Then we had him back a year later to check on things before our home warranty ran out. He found some critical issues that I would have missed. These issues are now getting taken care of by the builder under the warranty and will save us money. read more

Friendly and very detailed on results. Was on time for the appointment and had all the right tools to test functionality.

Tyler is super thorough. You'll be able to count on a very detailed and unbiased report at the end of your inspection. He's extremely easy to get ahold of and schedule and appointment with. Tyler is very knowledgeable and thorough and points out the good and the bad during the inspection process which is very helpful when going through the final inspection report. The inspection report is detailed and well organized. Tyler always tries to email the completed report the same day as the inspection which really helps facilitate the home buying process. I highly recommend you use Tyler and First Choice Home Inspection if you are thinking of purchasing a home. Professional, thorough and personable, just a few of Tyler's attributes. Tyler recently inspected two pieces of property for us. I would have no reservations recommending Tyler to anyone interested in hiring a very professional home inspector. If the price for his services is a bit higher than other inspectors then the additional cost is well worth the investment. We are hopefully finished buying homes but if we were ever to buy another home Tyler would be the first person I would call. read more
