He has, single-handedly, saved me quite a lot of money and I refer him to everybody I meet. When you buy a condo or a house, you should never skimp on inspection. When I bought my condo, I saw about 20 places and inspected 4. When I bought my house, I saw 120 and inspected 8. Tyler saved me from potential disaster in both of those ventures, and his inspection gave me the leverage to ask for repairs which would have been expensive down the road which I would otherwise not have seen. I have had places which provided pre-inspection, but because I trust Tyler more than any other inspector I've met, I always get his inspection on top of it, and every single time he has always caught things the other inspectors haven't. For example, one house provided a pre-inspection which found typical but not overly concerning issues. Tyler found the foundation was actually covered in a thin sheen of something which looked like concrete and which had over inch-wide cracks in it in multiple places. This saved me from a house I would have otherwise bid on and required more than $20,000 (at least) in repairs for. During the process of inspection, he is affable, he explains his thoughts and concerns, provides a good understanding of the issue so you can make a good decision. Despite all this, he is still affordable and his schedule is more available than most inspectors I have worked with. He is just an honest businessman doing a good job, and I trust him completely. I plan to continue to refer him to everyone I know, and I plan to continue using him for any inspection needs, including in a few years time to see what upkeep my house needs. read more

We found Tyler Mittendorf (owner and sole inspector for the business) on Angie's list. Top ratings. Called him on Tuesday and he was able to come out to inspect a condo that we wanted to buy on Thursday. He is the best inspector we had ever seen! He charged us $325 for the service. With Angie's List, there is an additional $25 discount. His price is a bit steeper than most inspectors for an 1,100 sq ft condo. But the quality is incredible. (We previously paid $300 for a guy to inspect a 2,400 sq ft home. Thought it was a great deal. But it turned out to be the crappiest job we'd ever seen. The report didn't get to us until a week later. It was hand-written, with a few check boxes, and was all of 3-4 pages. He missed so many things that the appraiser later caught...and it ended up costing us the deal on the house.) Tyler was open to explaining to us what we were curious about as he went along. He came with all sorts of equipment, took pictures, voice recorded what he saw, and best of all, in my opinion, he kept a mellow, humble attitude about things. He typically schedules two inspections a day: 9:30 and 1:30. The inspection of our condo took him just under 2 hours. By 5pm, he will usually have the report emailed to you! We were thoroughly impressed with his work and would whole-heartedly recommend him! read more

We were very impressed with our home inspection. Tyler was very responsive and scheduled our inspection within three days of our initial call. I met him on-site at the time we agreed to find him already on the roof and pointing out some potential trouble areas. He was extremely thorough and spent nearly five hours looking over, under and around the home. Even though this is a well-built custom house, Tyler found inconsistencies with electrical and ventilation systems, lighting and spoofs to expect repairs in the near future. He delivered a comprehensive, detailed report, as promised, later that night. The inspector, Lou who inspected my home for a buyer, found several things that he stated were needed and we're not. He said my windows had broken seals and needed a contractor to repair them when in fact they were just dirty, said an exhaust fan was inoperable when it was and left a circuit blown which left the refrigerator off the entire day. He said that I needed to regrade my entire yard when the photos clearly show that the yard is already sloped away from the house. Said I needed to add a sump pump to the crawl space when in 15 years, we have never had any flooding. From reading other reviews on Angie, I'm shocked they they have good reviews on here and Facebook. read more

I was appalled by the arrogance of the inspector! Shay ripped several boards off the siding , left debris scattered all over the patio ( which took 45 minutes for me to sweep up), then proceeded to charge $750.00! I must have registered disgust and disbelief, as the next day he called and for fifteen minutes tried to justify that sum, saying companies do this all the time and insurance companies expect to pay?!?! No wonder cost s for insurance skyrocket! Then, yesterday another first choice homes rep called w an offer to reduce the bill to $500.00 for that two second job that left me w amess and exposed pipes!
