To say I was pleasantly surprised, is an under statement. I ordered a filet, (med rare, BUT I was going to get it medium and changed my mind in case it happened to be more medium -ish) and I'm glad I did. It was cooked like a medium rare steak should be! Plenty of parking, very large restaurant, also a great spot for dinner parties, there is a bar area with high top seating for a more casual meal, the main seating area has nice cozy lighting, with a warm modern mountain style, perfect for a nice dinner date. The service was very good, friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable of their menu. The crab cake appetizer is fantastic, made with fresh real lump crab meat with a side of picked slaw and avocado, for our Mains we ordered the Bourbon Street Chicken and Maui Fish Tacos, both dishes where excellent, we also ordered a Pizza margherita, the crust was cooked perfectly and super buttery, also have some really good craft beer. Prices are very reasonable for today's dining experience. Will definitely be back. read more

Fireworks restaurant is a standalone building. It has a private parking lot and has multiple booths in the restaurant. There is seating internally and also patio seating perfect for summers. We were seated immediately at a booth. They were already looking a little busy for a Sunday afternoon lunch crowd. We ordered two beers. Hubby's was light and what sounded delightful to me a vanilla porter. Loved hubby's beer. Didn't like my own- it tasted too bitter and coffee like. I was expecting a smooth sweet-ish dark vanilla scented porter with chocolate tones as described. We both weren't feeling too hungry so I ordered crabcakes for my meal from the starters menu. And hubby ordered cheeseburger without buns. The crabcakes were not really what I was expecting- looked a little pitiful when it came out with a small bit of coleslaw and a couple of pieces of avocado. Tasted good really- but I also wasn't expecting corn in the crabcake. Overall- delicious but small portions even for a starter. Hubby got the cheeseburger without buns. Everything was fresh. But he wasn't feeling very well and so didn't finish it all. We then ordered a red velvet cheesecake for dessert The base was chocolate cookie. And the cheesecake was velvety smooth. I didn't care for the whip on top nor the extra icing on the cake. The cheesecake itself was delicious even though a tad too sweet for me. Overall, a great time. We will be back. read more

This place was really good! We came on a Saturday, daily early dinner time before it got crazy busy. It smelled amazing as soon as you walked in. We got the crab dip (highly recommended). We also tried the onion soup, which was super cheesy and delicious. They only do the French onion in a bowl though. I ordered the chimichuri chicken and it was literally a whole half of a chicken. The servings are huge. I definitely recommend the Mac and cheese out of all the sides. I had the cilantro rice and broccoli, but after trying the Mac and cheese, I wished I had gotten that. read more

My husband and I decided to try something new on my birthday and I'm so glad we did! When we first drove up the parking lot was full. We were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. It did take quite a while for someone to come take our order, but again they were very busy. Torry was our server for the evening, though it seemed that all the servers helped one another. Torry was very personable, funny, and a delight to speak with. The restaurant was a bit loud. BuI really enjoyed the dimmer lighting, open kitchen, and rustic decor of the dining area. For starters, I ordered the pretzel sticks with cheese and spicy mustard. The cheese was out of this world!! My husband ordered woodfired chips and salsa. The salsa was amazing. So many flavors coming at you with every bite! Main course, I ordered the filet mignon with a baked potato and mac & cheese. The sides were ok, everything was fresh and hot. But the steak.... Tender and delicious!! Cooked exactly how I ordered it. My husband ordered the Backdraft brisket with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. He said everything was good, it was for the price he felt like should have gotten more meat than he did. Finally, since it was my birthday the dessert was on the house! I ordered the Rocky Road cake. We went early so there wasn't a wait. I'm always a fan of when restaurants bring the kids food fist or just drop if off fist and that is exactly what our waiter did! It's perhaps not entirely fair to rate an establishment based on a group meal buffet, but nevertheless I feel compelled to do so. Our group, hosted in their private dining area was served a buffet that included tossed salad, sliced steak, a spicy chicken breast and grilled salmon, together with mashed potatoes and wild rice. The salad was just average, the steak was tough, gristly, and not seasoned well at all. The chicken and salmon were both overcooked and dry. The starches were average at best and the dessert tray had a distinctive look and taste of frozen, pre-packaged desserts (although I don't think they were). Service was spotty and several times we went looking for a server. The interior of Fireworks is old, dated, and in need of a refresh. Admittedly, this is a really bad review. But my experience matches this and I would not book a group dinner here again. read more

I'm really sad to say this, but Fireworks has definitely gone downhill. This used to be my husband's and my favorite date night restaurant. Unfortunately, our last experience was awful. We ordered the crab dip appetizer, and the chips it came with tasted like rancid oil. We asked for replacement tortilla chips, which also tasted off. For dinner, we ordered the same cut of prime rib, but received drastically different cuts, and my husband's was probably 50% fat. To cap it all off, my baked potato had another glob of that same rancid oil on the skin. It was really just a bummer all around. The beer is still good, thankfully, but I miss the days of the restaurant bustling and the food being spectacular. read more

We went here for Valentine's Day. I called a week ahead and was told I could call a few hours prior to be put on wait list. Then when I called day of they now said I needed to call 30 minutes before. When I called en route they then changed and said it was only in person. I then had an hour wait. We both wanted prime rib, sold out. So I ordered a steak with baked potato so did my wife. When food got delivered they were out of baked potatoes so I was out a side. Our waiter came to our table three times total but he appeared over worked. Fireworks used to be one of our favorite places in Lincoln. When it was in the Haymarket and when it first opened up in its South Location but we have found ourself going less and less over the years. The food is still pretty good and I won't say I have ever had anything bad there. The whole menu is quality and you won't be disappointed if you stop in. It just isn't as good as it used to be. It has dropped from stellar food to just good food. Compared to a lot of places it is still great but compared to what it used to be it makes me sad. I'll elaborate, their mac & cheese used to be the thing that brought me through the door every time. I would order two portions as both of my side dishes. It was so good. It was the example you would give in conversation about the best mac & cheese you have ever had. Now it still taste OK but it is dry. It's like they stopped putting as much sauce to macaroni ratio about five years ago and it's just not the standard I think of anymore. Bourbon street chicken is my usual go to entrée but the portion seems to be getting smaller and the blander as time goes on. It used to punch you in the face with flavor and now it just kind of taps you on the shoulder with it. Like I said, it is still all good, but just a shadow of its former greatness. I would still recommend it as a solid place for anyone looking for a meal out. I don't think you will be disappointed. It is just falling from my number two go to place in Lincoln to maybe still in my top 10. read more

Tried their pizza because we wanted pizza, they're literally right around the corner, and we love wood fired pizza. We were seriously NOT disappointed! The four of us went and we all really enjoyed our food. I got the crab ravioli and I really liked the red sauce on it and the way that it was fried. My mom got a Cesear salad that she thought had too much dressing but she really liked her soup. My brother got the salmon and he really enjoyed it and the rice. And his girlfriend got the mac and cheese which was very creamy. Our waiter was also really friendly. I'm not sure his name but he had curly black hair and earrings. He was very attentive. Was decent food. Had the Bacon Apple Whiskey Burger. Was a pretty underdone and defiantly would consoder it on the rare side. Most likely due to the burger being so thick with the bacon on the inside. Didn't get where the apple or whiskey description came from. It just tasted like a normal burger with Jalapeños on it. This is probably my favorite restaurant on the south side! Their dill horseradish dressing is amazing! I bought an 8oz container of it to go for $6 and it was well worth it! Made every salad so good! Although, one time I went and got a great tasty portion of the crab cheesy dip and I loved it! Then the next time I went I got significantly less dip and it was much less tasty so I just wish it was more consistent with that specific appetizer. Other than that everything was fantastic! Lots of items on the menu looked good. I had crab cake salad and crème brûlée. My daughter had cheese and macaroni and mashed potatoes. I wasn't wild about the crab cakes (didn't care for the seasoning in them) but they were cooked beautifully and the rest of my salad was really good. The cheese and Mac was delicious. The pistachio cherry crème brûlée was KILLER. Service was great. Love the ambiance. I moved out of town and hadn't eaten here in years. It was better than I remembered and I was a fan to begin with. I was really excited to try this place and I'm quite disappointed. I called for pickup around 7 and was told to call back at 7:30, so I did. Once I called back at 7:30, I was on hold for 15-20 minutes. There were two people that picked up and asked if I could wait a little longer. After the 20 minutes, someone picked up, didn't say anything, and hung up. I understand that it is busy and at that point, just tell the customers that takeout isn't available - be honest! I was waiting around an hour just to order just to be hung up on. I can't recommend trying to do takeout here. read more

My SO and I went to Fireworks a couple weeks ago and it was an okay experience. We went on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table, which isn't bad. They asked if we wanted to see on their enclosed patio as there was no wait and we jumped at the idea; but it was so cold we just waited for a normal table. The service was friendly and prompt. Our food came out pretty quickly. I ordered a side Caesar salad, a cup of their pork soup, their sweet Italian pizza, and of course their cappuccino creme brulee. The salad and the pork soup were really good. When the pizza came out, as I always do, grabbed a piece of the meat on top to take a quick taste. The meat was cold; not slightly warm or room temp, but cold. And the meat was just sprinkled on top. I told the waitress and she took the pizza back to reheat. The manager came over and talked to me and gave me a free pizza to take to go for my troubles. But the manager said that the chef was in a hurry, which is why the meat was just put on top instead of with the cheese like normal. Really? That's definitely not what should happen. I appreciate them 'making it right', but still, a tad disappointing. The creme brulee was just okay. I felt that the texture was off and it was way too sweet. The consistency was almost like caramel. So two friends and I went to this restaurant for lunch. I ordered off the children's menu with the approval of staff. Normally kids meals are reserved for children age 12 and under, but in this particular instance, I just wanted a smaller portions and they allowed me to order but I had to pay an up charge. The meal comes with an entrée, side, small drink, and a kid's dessert. After I ordered the meal, I asked if my drink could be coffee, which they denied because coffee is not a kid's drink. So I drink water instead. No big deal. I didn't want pop or milk. When I was done with my entree and side, I wanted my dessert and they said that because I was an adult, I couldn't have the dessert that came with it. Not only did I have to pay an up charge for ordering off the kids menu, I didn't get the drink or dessert that came with the meal. On the bill, they had a UR code that I could scan and provide feedback. I expressed my unhappiness about not being able to get a drink or a dessert with the meal (as this had not been disclosed) and still paying an up charge. The only response I received from management was to thank me for sharing my experience. What a waste. read more

No problem for the carnivore and somewhat limited options for a vegetarian but I did have some options. I now have to ask if the veggie burgers are house made (check) and if they are made to taste like meat or like a veggie burger as I prefer (check). Appreciate the choice of a side instead of just the standard fries; I ordered the smashed potatoes and while they were not what I was expecting (they were more mashed than smashed), they were good nonetheless. The veggie burger was flavorful and a solid 9 on my 1-10 scale. Oh and the carnivore - he had the prime rib so both of us were satisfied. At our table, the noise level was unreal to the point we had to stop our conversation and continue it after dinner. The food wasn't bad but for the price, I expected more. Absolutely yummy dinner on Sunday night. Got a table quickly, food came out a bit slower than expected, but the food was piping hot ! Sat by the bar area and male server was efficient and polite. Lots of staff on hand and the dinner crowd was not as busy since we came a bit after 7. Had crab cake salad. The salad was well dressed, not a big fan of the crab cake which was quite petite - but would definitely get the salad with green goddess dressing again and again. Had prime rib, which melted in your mouth, with mac&cheese and smashed potatoes and hubby had rotisserrie chicken with chimichurri sauce, loaded potato and coleslaw. Generous portions that we shared.
