Four months ago, I punctured a tiire and they got me in immediately. They fixed the tire and luckily I did not have to replace it. They did tell me my brakes were in bad condition. But I thought I was trading my car at that time. . I came back to them and put new brakes on this morning, because vehicle was going to a family member. They said they could install them this afternoon. They were so gracious and just doing what I asked....very thorough. I so appreciated Chris and his team. It was a great experience... Best brakes ever at a very good price with a great warranty. Thank you for being so accommodating Chris. read more

Went in for a tire repair....instead staff tried to sell me $900 worth of tires. They already had a credit card application up on their screen when they called me over to say I needed new tires. LIED to my face saying I had to replace all four when in fact two new tires were put on 14 months ago. Stated that because it was all wheel drive the all had to be replaced or it would ruin the car. They will lie directly to your face! read more

Straight up ruined an oil pan on my vehicle and gave no notice in the past 3-4 oils changes. The oil pan in the nissan rogue is plastic with a metal drain plug, which can cause problems. Is that Firestone fault, no. What is Firestone's fault is, they never reported a potential issue. Essentially they torqued the metal drain plug on to tight and stripped the plastic oil pan. NO MENTION IN ANY REPORT, NO COMMUNICATION. The solution was to spray a sealant on plug and pan so it would not come off, leak oil, and ruin the engine. So I call the WDSM shop and they said it is common for this to happen but the sealant would not affect the pan. Fine, it was going to happen at some point... but nothing was ever mentioned to us about a oil pan issue. Took it to Nissan and they said they have never seen anything like this. They are saving the pan for me to show firestone. They want a report back on what they say. $500 fix late. Thanks Firestone. read more

Had my daughter's car fixed at the end of August 5 weeks later finds another $1500 worth of crap that needs to be fixed. A week later she is stuck on the side of the road with the car overheating not to mention all the other stuff wrong with it. And I called today to tell them there is something wrong and all I hear from the sales person is we didn't touch that part, we didn't do anything to that part. Clearly this garage likes adding on things that don't need to be fixed and can't fix the things that need to be fixed. I would never recommend this business and I'm sorry that I've wasted so much money in this company. Edit to add I had it towed do a different garage and it looks like they added the wrong coolant at Firestone complete auto care and it ruined her radiator. read more

took my car in august 26th for my bearring and they added on some other bs and my brakes. whatever cool got that done, THE DAY i get my car back i pull into my driveway and hear this ear piercing screech. quite literally don't know jack shit about cars so i thought maybe its just cause its new, but no this went on for a month and a half (not even it's october 13th) and i take it in today turns out my axils started leaking (then blamed it on me when my house is 5 mins down the road) and they ALSO are charging me now for a bad battery (impossible because i got my oil changed about a month ago and it was in the high green, and also my wipers. they just want ur money because they are a bunch of brokies tbh and it's funny. if you are a WOMAN they will basically see you as a walking ATM. just say ur mad u make less for shitty work and NO accountability. read more

Based on past pretty good experiences we made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. The appointment indicated we'd wait for the work to be done. After an hour...and seeing the car was still outside, my wife asked what was going on. She then noticed that the car had been pulled in and multiple people were working on it (although no one communicated back to her in the waiting area). Just short of 2 hours after her arrival an employee told her the car was done. When she went up to pay she asked what had happened and was told 'the work order didn't print'. No apology, and no further explanation. Even with 2 discounts we had the pricing was higher than what we could get the work done at our local new car dealer. We contacted the company's customer care team to let them know about our experience and they told us the store manager would call (he didn't), then that the district manager would call (he didn't), and finally that the regional manager would call (he did!). Our vehicles are Toyota's, so they require little maintenance or repair, so we told him that we just wanted to let him know about our experience, but that we wouldn't be coming back. He was very polite, responsive, and customer-oriented, and I'm sure he'll coach his staff, but we have other options that we'll opt for in the future. read more

I do not know why this is listing me from California. I am in WEST DES MOINES. Took my 4 year old Chevy Equinox with 20,000 miles in as the air conditioner was not blowing cold air. Thought it needed Freon. Came back that levels were great we need to run an Air Conditioning Diagnostic on it. I agreed to the 150$ charge. Nothing was working. Estimate to get me a new unit came back at 3200$. I said I need to get another opinion. Took it to my Chevy dealer and guess what it needed FREON!!! Yes I am a women and older so take advantage of her??? My son called to complain but they denied it all. Used to get my oil changes done there, so did my son on 2 of his cars but now we will NEVER use them for anything. This is so sad. Two months later my air is still working great. This place would get negative stars if that were an option. I usually get my oil changed in my car at Walmart but due to Covid-19, most of them have closed. I made an appointment here at 12:30 thinking that it would be faster, more convenient somehow because I made an appointment. I had requested my oil be changed and go check ONE tire because it kept popping up that it was low. The tire never went flat, so I suspected it was either a very slow leak or a sensor issue. Boy was I wrong! At 2pm I was still waiting! My car was finally done around 2:30. They also informed me that I had 3400 dollars worth of problems and they couldn't fix my tire and in fact I needed to replace ALL my tires. 52.00 later (I usually spend 30ish for an oil change) I was starving, pissed, tired of wearing my mask in a sea of other people NOT wearing a mask and very frustrated. I immediately called another tire place and they not only were able to fix my tire, but they informed me that all of my tires are in great shape and they didn't even charge me! Wonderful place. Thanks Firestone for helping me find a great competitor! I will never be back to your scam artist garbage "shop". read more

There is NOTHING worse than driving to Des Moines at midnight in the middle of nowhere, an hour and a half away from your hotel, and all of a sudden your "check engine" light comes on. Yeah...that was me over the weekend. We got to our hotel just fine but my first order of business at 7am on Saturday morning was to call the Toyota dealer in Grimes, IA. to see if they could squeeze me in. I spoke to a total snot of a woman who told me they're appointment only and they couldn't be bothered with me. After being blown off by Toyota, my next attempt was to call Firestone as I've worked with them before at home and they have work records for my car in their system. This location was also a half mile from our hotel. I spoke to a nice guy named Joe who told me that he was pretty full but he had more guys coming in and the sooner I can get over there, the better my chances are. So, I grabbed my keys and headed over there. After sitting there for close to 2 hours, a guy named Scott Coffin (his card lists him as a sales teammate...incredibly nice too!!) explained to me that the problem was my catalytic converter. He said they have a warehouse nearby, the parts are available, and he can get the necessary parts and get the work done by about 2pm. After that, I was pretty dependent on Uber rides and the guy who picked me up from Firestone even admitted to me that the folks at the Grimes Toyota dealer are complete losers. I can't say THANK YOU enough!!! These guys were a pleasure to work with and while I did not enjoy spending $1,600 on car repairs while out of town, and it totally wrecked a full day of our trip, I was so glad they got things diagnosed and repaired done in a matter of about 5-6 hours. I don't how you can beat that! Thank you to everyone at the Firestone Complete Auto Care on Mills Civic Pkwy in West Des Moines!!! read more

No question this is a rat shop, had my wife take in my car in for rotors and brake pads and was quoted 550 bucks, after an HOUR AND A HALF inspection, they told me I have a bad brake line and that it would be 300 dollars to replace so now we are up to 850 dollars for brakes, I declined service and picked my car up to find both brake lines completely fine, and with a bleed test there wasn't even a leak!! They were trying to take advantage of a pregnant woman for a couple more bucks!! and when confronted about it they walk away, never was a fan of Firestone and I'll make sure everyone knows the scams they pull here. If I wanted to get screwed I would've worked for "the hub" I'll take it to Goodyear and I know I'm not getting scammed read more

Awful experience, made an appointment for 2:00 on their website. Once to got there, the employee told me it would be two hours to have a tire patched. I told him I had an appointment, he told me that the website was useless and he didn't care if I had an appointment. He told me that he didn't care if I wanted to leave and that he didn't care about what the website said. The employee made sure to understand that I was a nuisance to him and he wasn't appreciative of any business. As a side note, when I got there the employee was talking to another customer on a speaker phone, so I could hear the entire call. Just as an FYI, if you do business with them, do not expect any privacy as you are probably on speaker phone with everyone in the store listening to your conversation. I wouldn't recommend, there are plenty of other tire places that would appreciate your business and treat you better. read more

Huge waste of money and time. When I got there, four staff members were playing with an RC toy car. I dropped my car off (for a standard oil change they charged me about $90 for) early in the morning and it was finally done late in the afternoon. I was late for work. Plus they lied to me; tried to tell me I absolutely needed about $400 worth of work on my rear brakes. It's a new car. There was nothing wrong with my brakes, they were just trying to scam me. They tried to convince me that it was too dangerous to drive without new brakes. I'm never going back. read more

I tried for a basic oil change on our Ford Focus. They tried to convince me the car needed the more expensive oil change because synthetic oil doesn't work for a Focus. I knew better and still got the synthetic oil. I checked the oil two weeks later before a trip to Madison, Wisconsin and there was NO OIL IN THE CAR. It's good I checked! Note, I haven't had a problem with leaking oil so they really just didn't put oil in. read more

I scheduled an oil change with them and was never notified about a price so I assumed it would be what I usually pay. (Couldn't easily navigate through their site to even find a price for my specific car) When I came to drop off my car it took an hour to get an oil change, which I was fine with. When I picked up my keys, I was informed that my oil change was $106 (with the $15 coupon(?)) I asked how could this be, did they do anything else other than an oil change? And the man proceeded to explain to me that my car was a "foreign car" (it's a Jetta), and said that It would take special oil. I said, yes I know this, I've driven a "foreign car" for the past 15+ years and it has never been this much. The difference between regular oil and "special" oil (it felt like I was being talked down to since I was a girl) is literally nothing in stores. Also, if this isn't enough for you to kick Firestone, they didn't even update my mileage ANYWHERE. At least, Walmart puts a sticker in your window that shows when you need another oil change and what oil your car takes. Never going to a Firestone again. read more

I had an excellent experience at this location. I have a regular mechanic who I trust and have been going to for years. Unfortunately, he was unable to get me in for an oil change and I needed one ASAP. I did a quick search of quick lube places and saw this was close. I've gone to similar shops and know the routine... go in fur an oil changed and get convinced you need an additional $200 worth of services. So,I handed over my keys and prepared to guard my pocket book. When the called my name they ran through the basic inspection, said everything looked fine, and told me my oil change would be $32. That was it. No high pressure sales pitch, no overpriced oil change. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Really impressed and plan on utilizing the online booking service again in the future! read more

I had a good experience lately at this Firestone location. I was in need of an oil change, and driving in to the Des Moines area from a smaller town. I didn't want to take a chance in having to wait at another oil change location, and remembered that Firestone takes appointments. I made an appointment request online, had a phone call back in less than 5 minutes, and confirmation email soon after. I did have to wait in the lobby as my oil change was being completed, but everything was clean and all employees and customers who entered were wearing a mask. I got to witness several staff interactions, and they were always done in a helpful and happy manner, including explanations of service options. My car was taken in for the oil change within 5 minutes of arriving and was completed in a time period that I expected. I was happy overall and really appreciated the overall scheduling convenience. read more

I have purchased 2 tires and had one patch- they are as good as any. Most of these places change help like I change my socks. I left a wheel to have a tire mounted on it. After hours I got no call so I called them and LIKE ALL THE REST they were"working on it now" not quite-so I went down there in an hour and found 8 guys and a girl sitting around smoking and drinking coffee, hey! maybe it was break time ALL AT ONCE,EVERYONE. So with the proper motivation they did ONE TIRE, tough work. Its close and its the same money as across town- so its nothing special-if you have the time and your wife doesnt need the car to get to work the next day use them. read more

This place is one of the most scummy auto shops in town. They are very unclear with what they are doing with your vehicle and the quote was half of what it cost out the door. I guess the lack of business should have been a sign of no return customers. What a waste of time and money! read more

I purchased new Firestone tires in May 2022, along with alignment. I did this out of convenience more than anything: Firestone is close to home, and I was about to take a long drive that summer. The agent at Firestone at the time of this purchase said I had a "Lifetime alignment" that stays with my newly purchased tires, or words to that effect. I spoke with him at various points after the installation due to a vibration effect I experienced after the tires were installed, but was never able to come in and have it checked out. I came in today (1/31/2023) for a rotation, balance and alignment (check), and was dismissed by the current agent because he disagreed with the information I conveyed: I was informed that the "alignment stays with the tires". He advised that my 2022 receipt did not indicate "Lifetime alignment". He also tried to charge me $180 for an alignment which should have cost far less. He said he was just trying to help me understand what I was paying for; and in the end took my car off the rack after doing nothing, saying I should talk with the manager. Manager unreachable at this point. For me the answer is very simple: I made the mistake of purchasing tires from Firestone due to convenience. I won't make that mistake again. And I will advise anyone asking about a mechanic or car repairs to avoid Firestone at all costs. read more

very bad experience I left almost in tears the way they talked to me and treated me. i was supposed to get a free tire from brookstone tires because i have a 5 year warranty with them and brought the paper work to prove and they refused which it's fine it's not the end of the world and I was willing to pay.. but the lady called the manager that originally helped me out when I first got there the day before that ordered the tire for me to ask about the free tire to see if that was an option and he freaked out and was talking very poorly about me on the phone I could hear everything he was saying. he was yelling and talking about how i was such an inconvenience to order the tire for and he kept going on about me and she had to tell him to stop because she was aware that I could definitely hear everything that was being said read more

Wife had a friend in town. Noticed some fluids under the car late Saturday night. Wife and friend drove the car to Firestone Mills Civic just before closing. They opened the hood to discover the oil filler cap was gone, oil had spewed all over the engine. The manager tried calling multiple locations for a Subaru replacement part and to no avail. I was called to come over to help with decisions and transportation. Dylan and Nautica were at the car and worked on a very short term solution just to get the car off the lot and a couple blocks to our house. Derek and Leila were also working to find a part to solve the problem. This location had serious staff and leadership problems early this year. From what I have heard they cleaned house and have improved customer service as of late. Might be willing to come back to this location and give it another shot as a result of the help the friend received. read more

Went in to this place to get a simple alignment after I replaced my tie rods and boots. They claimed I had put the wrong tie rods on and that there were not enough threads to adjust the alignment. I took it home and took it back apart to double check the tie rods. Not only were they the correct tie rods, the mechanic had destroyed one of my new boots. He had turned the inner tie rod to try and adjust the alignment, but he didn't unclamp the boot. As a result, the boot twisted until it completely locked up the tie rod. I had to replace the new boot they destroyed. I took into the Jeep dealer instead, and an no time flat, my alignment was dead on. The "mechanics" they have working at this Firestone location don't have a clue what they are doing, and quite frankly, the front desk guys are very rude. I bought a battery from Firestone 6 months ago. This afternoon to my surprise the car wouldn't start and I needed Geico to give me a jump start. I drove the car directly to FIRESTONE and explained the above situation and asked if they could check the voltage as I could not afford to be stranded during the week. The Person at the front counter said, " I only have 20 minutes left to wrap up, so you'll have to make an appointment". Incredulous I asked, to check the voltage in the batteries you installed I need to make an appointment? He looked at his watch, looked over to the garage and back at me and said, "can you bring it tomorrow morning?" I told him I was a physician and I would be up at work before he was so no that wasn't an option. He then asked if I could leave it over night. I said no. He then told me "you should take it to to NAPA or Autozone. They can check it for you and replace it if need be if it needs to be done today. And we can figure out the warranty stuff later" How many ways can YOU avoid helping a customer with the battery YOU sold and installed...: I did go to the autozone on first street. I did purchase a jump starter and I will be coming back (TO AUTOZONE) when I need my battery charged. Really disappointed in the Firestone service today 2/7/21 read more

Make sure to make an appointment beforehand! Unlike other oil change places I've been to, this isn't really the place where you drive up and expect an oil change right away. My husband was supposed to take our truck in for an oil change but got caught up with work, so I ended up bringing it in. The lobby is stocked with magazines for both genders and there is wifi, so I was happy. I had our 2 small dogs with me and the employees were very friendly towards the pups. The oil change was quick and they didn't try to take advantage of me or try to up-sell me like most other oil change places I've been to! I really appreciate that! My recommendation: google "Firestone coupons" before getting an oil change! They usually have lots of coupons and discounts online! I found a $10 off coupon and showed it to them on my phone and they honored it without me bringing in a printed copy. Woohoo! read more

I can't tell people enough to stay away from this Firestone, especially if you are a woman they will take advantage of you. They not only gave my car the wrong diagnosis, they damaged it more than what it was before I came into the shop. I live right next to this location so it is super convenient for last minute oil changes. They are open 7 days a week too. I have mixed reviews about this location. The first time I stopped in they tried to charge me $85 for a basic oil change and $30 for installing windshield wipers. I can go to an auto parts store and have them put wipers on for free! The second time I went in I told them I wanted the basic oil change and it was only $25 with tax. They noted a couple of minor maintenance things to do next time I got an oil change. They didn't heckle me about it which I appreciate. My complaint this time was that they didn't have my appointment saved- luckily they weren't busy so they were able to get me right in. Tip: mention the basic oil change special from their website and it will only be $20 or $35 depending on the oil you want. Also, they have WIFI so you can work while your car is being worked on. read more

This location is out to scam you. My husband brought my car in for an alignment since we purchased the package that included it. While they were doing the alignment they said that my vehicles tie rods were badly worn and needed replacing (various parts - control arm, bushings etc - see picture). We took the car to the Nissan dealer for a 2nd opinion - and they were also under warranty - and they found no problems whatsoever. They also said i needed to replace my battery and it was also fine. Since my car was fine and needed no work, we were stuck with paying the dealer labor to check everything (albeit a small charge). I contacted Bridgestone and was told the store manager would call me. No one did. Then the district manager. Nothing. Then the regional. Nothing. Now a division manager is supposed to call me. I gave them more than enough chances to make it right. I'll never be back. I took my car here to get my oil changed and get the tires rotated, and have then check a small fluid drip I had coming from my front end. After 2 hours I got the call that my entire power steering was shot and I had been leaking hydraulic fluid and needed to be replaced (about $5000 of work). I was hesitant to go through with this because my car had been running fine, so I went for a second opinion. The other two shops told me I was fine and that it would be impossible to leak hydraulic fluid, because I have electronic power steering, not hydraulic. I'm enraged and honestly just sad a business would take advantage of a young woman to such a degree. I told her next time to bring a male friend or our dad with her to avoid this. I don't want to play the gender card here, but am having a hard time rationalizing a $720 difference in quotes. Called the manager and he was rude and kept repeating "so what do you want me to do."
