My dad is out of town and needed an oil change, so I was trying to help. He had a credit from when he had new tires put on and when I mentioned he had pre-paid, her cheeky response was 'that's not possible, but OKAY.' Like, chica. I'm sorry you're overworked and likely underpaid, but I didn't piss in your cheerios. You are still customer-facing. I called this place and Robert answered and said he would try his best to get me in before the store closes. I rushed to the store and he got me in and got the tire fixed right away!! Do not go to this Firestone, they do not care about your car. I dropped my car off at this location 5 days ago for new tires and got my car back with chips on the rims, scratches on the rims where the silver weights were removed, grooves in my leather driver's seat and a new small dent in the driver's rear quarter panel. DO NOT GO TO THIS FIRESTONE. They burned my clutch, over-revved like crazy, nearly killed it 4 times and rode the clutch every time they were stopping. Even though they said, when asked, "We can drive a manual transmission.". The damage and poor driving is on my dashcam. Also, the seatbelt chime was audible whenever the tech was in my car. Come on man. Absolutely abysmal care for the work they are doing on other people's vehicles. Damage, straight up lies and poor service all at a premium. I realized I had a flat tire and I happened to be right at this store. I actually pulled in their lot to call the place I usually use (Tires Plus) because I couldn't remember if I had road hazard coverage (I didn't). While I was on the phone, one of the employees came out to check if I needed help. We went inside and he explained that they are actually connected with Tires Plus (Bonus Jonas!). He looked at the tire to try to get an idea if it was repairable. I had a doctor's appointment I was headed to, so was getting a ride lined up. He got my car in very fast so they could make a definite determination before I had to leave. Turns out the screw cut a slit in my tire, so I needed a new tire. I figured he'd try to sell me 2 or 4 tires, but he said I only needed the one, my other tires were great. They can match my tire with exact duplicate; they'd just go pick it up at Tires Plus while I was at the doctor. He said they usually call, but since I'd be in the doctor's office he wouldn't call unless I wanted him to. I got back in maybe an hour. They were just finishing up as I walked in. I was able to get back on my way. I was really impressed with my experience. read more

During Covid season tire options were limited, and Firestone (smpkwy) recommended that we go with a smaller version of the same tire. We were misled that the smaller version would do the same job, and less than a year later, the tires are bald and unevenly worn. Talked to not 1, not 2, but 3 ASE certified mechanics in my area and was told that the smaller tire caused excessive amounts of wear to all 4 tires. We've been in the Firestone family for 10+ years, given good business and always brought our cars back for service. Still refused to replace the tires, saying that the excessive wear was caused by drifting the car. As the driver of the car, this car has been donutted once in a parking lot while it was raining. Completely and utterly speechless as to why a company can force someones hand to purchase the wrong size tires because of Covid....(including the 70,000 mile warranty) then not replace them when Covid is over.. Better yet the car has had less than 8,000 miles put on it since replacing them. We were charged a little over $1,000 to replace all 4 tires, the 70,000 mile warranty, lifetime alignment, and diagnostic service. Upon purchasing the tires, they were mounted and rotated/aligned. $1,000 for the wrong sized tires and a no-good warranty! The main point for them not replacing my tires under warranty was no proof of rotations/alignments for sub-30,000 miles. The tired were balanced and aligned IN YOUR SHOP LESS THAN 8,000 MILES AGO??? I guess the warranty doesn't cover excessive wear because of one donut 8 months ago! Would also like to point out that as the car being a 2002, we have not done necessary meitenance such as balancing and rotating since purchasing the new tires. However, the documents show that the tires should still be under warranty. Not to mention they quoted me for an $800 replacement for the tires like they didnt already scam me out of 1000 bucks already for the wrong tires (I found the tires I needed at costco, discount tire, and even walmart, all for less than half the cost that firestone wants for the same service) Thanks Firestone - Jeep Liberty read more

Been here twice for tires over the last few years and each time a tire got a nail or screw in it within a day. And of course it in a spot thats not repairable and has to have a new tire. First time - ok I guess that happens, second time a bit suspicious Got a screw in a tire in the treads and took it in and surprise, surprise - it not repairable of course but this time thought I try somewhere else, took to valvoline and 12 mins later its fixed and been holding well for three weeks. Do not go here. I took my car for an oil change yesterday, and as I was picking up it looked like my back tires were jacked up way more than normal. I asked the lady at the desk and she ensured me it was "just the angle" I was at. As I was driving home, my car was jumping so bad I was coming out of my seat. I had to pull over on the highway I was so scared. Eventually I got followed home by a family member, it wasn't even worth going back. Worst customer service ever. Made appt for front end alignment. Offered to leave car there for 4 hours with request it would be ready by then. Guy who took appt said no problem. Checked car in and asked if it would be ready at requested time and was assured it would be. Went to get it 4 1/2 hours later and it haven't even been moved. Mgr blamed it on covid. Why does everyone blame every screw up on covid now. They messed up and they couldn't even own it. Offered to do it immediately at half price but I had to be somewhere before they could finish which is why I made the appt in the first place and left my car there for over 4 hrs. The only person I have any respect for is the kid who brought me my car. He apologized for screwing up as he was handing me the keys. At least he had the integrity to own it. Mary V read more

I took my car in for routine maintenance, an oil change and brakes and a few other things. Right after I dropped it off, one of their techs broke off my driver's side door handle, and rather than attempt to take any responsibility for it or work with me to get it repaired, the store manager, Doug Tipton, instead denied any responsibility, increased the quote and then offered me a "discount" of 15%, essentially returning it to the quote I was first given in an attempt to placate me. I have been going to Firestone forever. I love this one on 79th in Downtown Overland Park. They are friendly and fast. There are some places that will rip you off but not them. They are honest and do a great job. I have them do oil changes, alignments, tires, brake jobs, you name it, and they have always done a great job. If they find something while they are working on the car that needs attention they will call you and ask if you want them to fix it or wait. They do a safety check and a once over on the car to make sure every thing is ok. They also have a same as cash 90 day credit card you can get. We like it on big repairs but you are not required to use it. If you need a good mechanic give them a try. read more

These guys are clueless. I got about $1000 worth of repairs done on my wife's car. (Brakes, rotors, front tires, couple wheel studs). Specifically told them I wanted them to match. Tires are not even close but the size numbers are the same, so they cannot understand the issue. Literally all these guys know about tires. Also damaged the wires to her O2 sensor and refuse to take responsibility. Super amateur and obtuse shop. Doug the store manager is the worst of the bunch, which explains why the shop is so bad. Love the team here! Super friendly and helpful! Even when they are super packed they will accommodate you the best they can. I trust what they have told me and have offered me great advice on my car upkeep! They didn't even charge me an original $80 diagnostic fee because the problem they found was small enough for me to fix on my own - (get a new gas cap to prevent vapor leaks) and I went and bought one across the street at an auto repair shop, and brought it back and the guys here even put it on for me. They're really good about turning off all your lights too (check engine, etc.) This is always my pet peeve when leaving other auto shops. They gave me advice for what to look out for in the near future, and told me when I should return. The entire team is very professional - especially Carolina!! She gave me a great deal on my oil change, I wasn't expecting such a good deal! They're lucky to have her and you are too if she's assisting you! read more

I will never take my car back to this Firestone. I took my car in for a routine oil change. The mechanic snapped my dipstick and made me pay for a new one, on top of a fee to remove the broken stick. I think it is ridiculous that a business would force the customer to pay for a mistake made by the business. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE WITH YOUR CAR. I got a routine oil change and tire rotation on 11/11 and was told that my tires still had about 10k miles left on them. I went back on 12/19 to get a courtesy tire pressure check since freezing temperatures of winter generally result in a loss of tire pressure. I was told that I needed to buy 2 tires and I had a puncture in my left front tire. I smelled bullshit brewing, and it made it easy to mount a rebuttal, because it was the same guy telling me I need a tire repair and replacements who just told me 5 weeks ago my tires are still good. I took my car across the street to another mechanic for a second opinion, and guess what?! No puncture or leak in my tire. How was I so sure the 2nd opinion was accurate? Because the manager took me to the back and submerged the tire on water for me and showed me there were no bubbles blooping from a puncture. I was shown the wear and tear bar on the tires and the tread was higher than the bar, meaning the tires were fine. I wouldn't piss on the lying scam artist if he were on fire in my living room. I will NEVER go back. to Firestone, and I suggest you avoid any mechanic you can't trust. You can definitely add Firestone to the "untrustworthy" list of companies whose practices encourage their employees to run a money scam. Take your car to Eilenberger one block north on the opposite side of Metcalf if you want fast, frindly, and honest work done on your auto. read more

Took my vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation. After the service was complete, drove 8 miles and smoke was rolling out from under the hood, a pool of oil underneath the car. They paid to have my vehicle towed back in to their shop and "fixed" the problem. Did offer me a full refund. Took my vehicle to another auto shop for a second opinion, they showed me evidence that Firestone made minimal, if any, attempt to clean up the oil under the vehicle, it was everywhere. I've had two car issues lately. First, I ran over a nail and needed my tire fixed. They couldn't fixed it as I had driven on it too long. (Completely understandable.) They put on a new tire and my total was right under $55, which I was pretty happy with. So when my radiator hose was swollen and needed to be replaced I called this shop because I felt they were very friendly and good pricing. (I've had friends pay $100 for the same tire service I'd previously had at this shop.) So, I called and asked when I could come in and before I hang up I ask for an estimate. He told me it would take an hour and a half of labor plus the cost of the part and he quoted me $230.00. I was SHOCKED. Considering I had just talked to my friend who knows cars much better than I do and he said it would only take about 30 minutes and shouldn't be too expensive. Needless to say I did NOT make an appointment to get my car fixed there. I did some research online and realized it wasn't that difficult of a repair so I did it myself. It took me, a 22 year old girl who's only replaced a battery before on a car, less than 30 minutes and the part cost me $11.64. I even had my mechanic friend check it out and he said it was perfect. Initially I was excited that this place was close to my new town home. Now, I'm staying FAR away and I encourage everyone else to skip this place as well. read more

I've been to this place over 10 times over the last 5 years or so to have various things get fixed. We've gotten a pretty good idea of how they work. I will tell you upfront, this is not a place you want to trust with any major engine or transmission repairs. They are good for simple things like tire replacement, alignments, and fluid top-offs. Otherwise, you are playing Russian roulette with your car. One of the first times we used this location, we had the vehicle checked over before we were going to take it on a long vacation. They told us that we needed rear struts replaced. We originally did not want to do it, but one of the mechanics had already broken the screws to them forcing us to purchase new struts. This cost in excess of $300. We were not happy. They would never apologize or come down on the price because of their mishap. They stuck up for their own mechanics. Another time, they told us we had a terrible leak in our power steering rack that would be over $300 to replace. We knew that we had a pretty bad coolant leak already. I was almost completely confident we didn't have a power steering fluid leak, so we called them up to say that maybe their mechanics should eye things a little more carefully. Once more, the manager stood up for his mechanics saying that they know what they are doing. We took the car to Overland Park Automotive, and they replaced the radiator which stopped the coolant leak. If we had been trusting elderly people from an earlier generation, or just some happy-go-lucky, sheltered people inexperienced in the ways of the world, we would have just taken their word for it and replaced our power steering for nothing and still had a major coolant leak. There was never a power steering leak in the first place. This is not good at all. We would have been looking at over $600 in repairs. You can't just take chances like that. All in all, we've had problems with multiple Firestones throughout my life all throughout the metro area. We've never really been very happy with them. This isn't a problem that you can really blame on one bad manager or mechanic. It's really a larger overall corporate problem. It's the way they work. I sort of feel sorry for some of the underpaid, overworked mechanics and technicians they have. You kind of get the sense that it's corporate vs. the store vs. the customer, and that they assume that you know that they aren't getting treated well by corporate and that you should have sympathy on their poor mechanics. read more

these people are scam artists. don't believe a thing they say. if their lips are moving..they are lying. i purchase 4 new tires for $941. A little higher than i would normally pay, but they promised free rotation every 5k miles (if you don't,it voids your warranty) and that would get me some tires i could depend on for 60k± miles. so i go in on a Saturday for my first rotation...just under the 5k miles. they didn't have time to fit me in, but did schedule me an appointment for 4 o'clock the next Tuesday. the man said it would take 30 minutes or less. i took off an hour and a half early from work and was there at 3:59. all 4 the bays were empty, but the place was full. i gave them my keys and sat down. 40 minutes later, they hadn't even started. That's how they treat customers once they already have your money....you go to the end of the line. i came in TWICE to their store for my rotation, gave up 1.5 hours off my paycheck, and didn't get my rotation because i had to leave for an other appointment at 5. if you want to be lied to, given the runaround and treated like your time is worth nothing, this is the place to come. read more

Doug and his crew went above-and -beyond to correct a mistake with a stripped wheel stud----to the extent of replacing the entire rotor when a replacement stud could not be found.
