I had my car at another shop after my catalytic converter was stolen. It sat in that lot for 8 days and the insurance company couldn't work with the shop. When it was towed to Auto Werks they had it fixed in 3 days. Their staff was very responsive, quick and went through the bill with me. I should have taken it to Auto Werks right away and not wasted a week of pay for a rental car. This was my 2nd catalytic converter they had to replace and should have just started with them. Their bid of $3,300 was also cheaper than the other shop for $4,300.00. So if you get your catalytic converter stolen go to Auto Werks. The guys were very pleasant to deal with too. I would leave zero stars if I could. Called to see if they had screws for my car and BK, the guy that answered the phone, was extremely rude. He was not trying to be helpful at all. He asked "well who's doing the work on the car because it seems like you're in a lot of trouble and need help." I said yes someone else is doing the work I just need the screws. He responded with "well answer the question are you or someone else doing the work?" I hung up the phone because of how rude he was being. His tone of voice was very demanding, and not in a helpful way. We just spent $1,490.00 to have my daughter alternator replaced on her VW Beetle. I'd had two tires replaced there, the previous week. So when her alternator went out, with her living in the West Plaza, I thought he would be a good solution to the problem. I could not have been more wrong. I picked the car up to return it to my daughter's place of work. As soon as I headed down 43rd, I turned on the AC and it only blew hot air. I called BK to tell him and he made it clear to me "it was coincidental" and the alternator replacement had no connection to the subsequent AC failure. So I called a local VW dealership Simply put. They told me there's no way to replace the alternator WITHOUT dropping the AC compressor and line. Just as I'd guessed. So I texted BK to tell him that. After two days and no reply, I texted to ask if he'd at least reply? He replied saying he'd called around noon and "left a message." Problem is, neither me or my daughter had a missed call or voice mail. The following are copy/pastes of his texts and my replies. Me: I didn't get a response so wanted to jog your memory. Thanks, Paul Me: BK, could you at least give us the courtesy of a reply? BK: Called & left a message around Noon. Call 913-722-0438 if you have further questions. 9:30-5pm weds Simply put, Alternator has nothing to do w AC. Full stop Me: Simply put, according to Molle VW, you're wrong. The compressor MUST be removed/dropped, along with the inlet, to replace the alternator. Full stop! That's pretty sad you'd take that position when it's patently inaccurate. BK: You're incorrect. Good luck. Me: So you're saying the VW DEALERSHIP's mechanics are wrong? Not me.... That's fine. I thought you were a bigger man than that. I guess I was wrong. BK: Good luck. Blocked So if that's the kind of dishonest, disingenuous service you want, have at it. Now, since he's not man enough to stand behind his work, and would rather refute the words of the dealership, just to cover himself, instead of actually making it right, we'll be out even more money. I even told him people make mistakes, I get it, no problem! But, no. He preferred to stick to the line he's right, the DEALERSHIP is wrong. But he'd be willing to charge us for an inspection / diagnosis and repair it. Avoid at all costs. Insurance has this part quoted on the original repair. Insurance has informed me multiple times it is supposed to have been repaired. No BK is lying on a public forum. What a pathetic excuse for a business. I've included screenshots with conversation with the adjuster. Absolutely horrible experience. Took my SUV for an insurance repair. I was assured by BK the situation would be handled, and should any additional issues arise he would handle my insurance carrier for me since he was my "repair shop." He is very charming when trying to convince you to start the repair, then once it is out of your hands the attitude shifts immediately. Upon delivery, my vehicle was filthy, it was parked under a tree two blocks away, there was garbage left in the cup holder, mud caked into my floor mats, all of which was red flag number one. The color matching was comically terrible but I figured I'd just have to deal with it. Additionally, a chrome piece that was supposed to be replaced as it was damaged in the same peril, was not replaced. I was informed by BK it was due to Progressive not approving the repair - except it was on the original quote. 4 months later and my vehicle still isn't repaired correctly. BK refuses to work with me or reimburse me for the repair. I am working with Progressive and my credit card company as he is now claiming "supply chain issues" (how convenient) - even though I've received part quotes for approved parts with same day and 3-day shipping available from multiple vendors. We drove up to Kansas City for a quick vacation in our minivan and were having a wonderful time until we accidentally ran over a small piece of rebar sticking out of a spot in a parking lot. Our tire was completely destroyed, and we quickly called a couple of places to see what our options were for roadside assistance, towing, etc. When we called Auto Werks, the person we spoke with on the phone was very patient and helpful. We got our car into the garage and the folks at Auto Werks were able to quickly replace our tire and get us back to our vacation fun within an hour of the incident. The prices for parts and labor were very reasonable and from a customer service standpoint our experience was excellent. I'd recommend Auto Werks without any reservations whatsoever! read more

Had a couple tires replaced and front brakes replaced by Mr. BK and Autowerks in Sept 2022. When I got the car back, I was getting an alarm on my TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system). Up until this servicing, the TPMS was working normal, so clearly BK's crew damaged the system during the tire replacement. Instead of taking responsibility for this, Mr. BK said he was more than happy to look at it and see if he could determine the problem. I had him look at it; he reset the TPMS alarm and told me to come back if the alarm went off again. As expected, the TPMS alarm went off again, because it was clearly malfunctioning....due to the tire replacement. At this point, I knew BK was not going to help me or make things right - I am sure he would devise another time-wasting troubleshooting scheme to avoid responsibility and designed to waste my time and hopefully get me to give up, which I did. So, I now have been living with a broken TPMS, which is not the end of the world, and I thought I was doen with Autowerks and Mr. BK. But now I am having issues with my brakes, so I decided to write this review. It's now November 2023; about 13 months since the 'wonderful' service I received from BK. I recently went to Jiffy Lube to get my oil changed, and they showed me that my front brake pads need to be replaced. So, either BK uses the worst parts imaginable (such that brake pads go bad in a little over a year) or he never replaced them. His response was that Jiffy Lube doesn't have real mechanics; and, again, he said he was happy to take a look at my current brake pads.... He said the pads could have failed so fast due to improper caliper setting, etc. But who put the pads in? BK and his crew did, that's who. So, based on the facts and BK's response, the pads failed because they were either super-cheap pads (which I paid 300.00 for) or his shop did a terrible job of putting them in. Either way, that's on BK and his shop. If you want to spend good money on suboptimal parts, shoddy work, possibly fraudulent work, or work that that will damage other parts of your car....... and THEN have Mr. BK gaslight you, then by all means, go with Autowerks and Mr. BK. read more

When the oil started leaking again she took it back and they were trying to charge her for labor to figure out what was wrong with it. They did a diagnostic test the first time she took it there and fixed the problems. Well when she took it back because it was still leaking they said they will have to charge her for another diagnostic test. Ever since she took her car to this shop she has had problem after problem things that were not even wrong before she took it the first time are now wrong. When she took it to another shop for them to look at it they did not charge her and it turns out that what this shop was supposed to have fixed is now what she is having issues with again. I am a girl who knows very little about cars and hates having any work done on my vehicle because I never trust that the mechanic is being truthful with me. Consequently, I have always taken my car to the dealership, because I figure if I'm going to get hosed for repairs, at least I know they'll be doing quality work (or so I like to think). Well, after the last $1000 trip to the Ford dealership, I have decided to check out other options for fixing my 11-year-old truck. I have driven by Auto Werks for years. It's the auto repair shop on 43 street that always has a car out front with the doors that open up (as opposed to out, like most cars). I have assumed that it was just a place to get fancy hubcaps and chrome things installed to bling out your car, based on what I could see in the garage. Turns out I was wrong! After a tip from a hairdresser, I took my truck up there. Evidently they do all kinds of work on cars, not just "the fun stuff" that dresses cars up. I was pleasantly surprised at how polite and quick they were. More impressive, though, is that I gave them carte blanche to upsell my oil change. I literally told them to change my oil and then give it a once over and fix anything that looked like it might break, as I am leaving town shortly for a long road trip and was trying to ward off problems. They checked my hoses and belts, topped things off, aired up my tires, changed my oil and gave it a once over. They said everything looks good. Heck, I can't even get through Jiffy Lube without them trying to sell me u-joints or air filters or some other thing. And frankly, I don't mind buying things I need for my truck, but there's a difference between what I need NOW as to what I will need, say, two years from now. All this for $39.95, which, for my truck, is the same or even cheaper than what the dealership charges me. But quicker. And closer to home. And without all the 'extras' the dealership likes to throw at me. And quite frankly, they seem like honest folks, always a plus in my book. read more

Their "expertise" does not extend beyond a Google search of the make and model of your car. Any part that you need will require a nearby auto parts store to deliver it - expect to wait accordingly. With luck they'll get the right part the first time; however, this is doubtful considering it took them 3 attempts to match an oil filter. After taking 2h15m for an oil change "BK" was appropriately embarrassed and apologetic. If this is any indication of the work they do, it would be wise to stay away. read more

This place is great- fast service, really honest, and very nice people. Don't go in expecting a slick chain-store experience, the waiting area is comfortable but not fancy... I always think that's reassuring though, since you know that they aren't charging you more money to pay for a flat-screen tv and leather chairs. I was in and out in an hour and 15 minutes, and even though they needed to replace a component of my ripped-out stereo, they were able to go pick one up immediately and complete the repair. I also asked them to change my oil as an afterthought, and one person did that while the other fixed the stereo, which saved me a ton of time. Based on this experience, I would recommend this place to anyone-- you'll be supporting local business, and you'll get better and more honest service than you ever would at a chain store. read more

Fairly priced - but you have to specify EXACTLY what you want done and what you don't want done or the bill will rack up quickly. Great, great guys to talk to and discuss problems and what not - genuinely feel like they care about what they do and want to help, and they are a business don't get me wrong, but good dudes for sure... Even gave me a ride home once and i like using local businesses when i can My one problem is they're not the best with contacting you about the diagnosis of your car. I feel like i always have to call them "what was the problem?" or "Is it ready?" or "how much?" they've never called me and filled me in - i know its not the biggest problem, but there are times i wish I'd know when its ready rather than having to go a good distance out of my way to stop by just to hear "oh yea, its been ready since this morning" Other than that - great place. I brought my car in after it wouldn't start and had to jump it multiple times. Luckily, it was a quick fix that was a mistake from when I brought it to Firestone. My car was there for a few hours while they checked everything out, the charge was so minimal for the time they had it. I tried to pay more for the time they had the car or tip and he did not accept. Got my tie rods done which is a basic job, but told him to look into a rubbing noise coming from my front driver wheel. He told me my wheel bearings were going out and he would hook me up on the repair for $500. Went to another shop and they resolved the sound for free and said my wheel bearings were fine. read more

BK will nicely explain why I am wrong and give a solid explanation on the work that needs to be done. I have only had mechanical work done here. I have been very impressed with the results. My engine bay is always returned clean and I can count that my car went through multiple test drives before it was given back. I have seen the custom work they have done on other vehicles and they do some really neat stuff. The car they have been working with me on is a 2002 Bmw M3. I'll make this simple: Is this a super-fancy auto shop? No. Is it a place where the owner will take care of his customers and make sure everything is right? Yes. When I moved to the area, I hunted around. I'm not a mechanic, but I'm not clueless either. I have a basic understanding of how a car is put together, what the random rattles and sounds mean when a car needs some work, and what a repair should cost. I've also seen enough in my life to know when someone is full of it, or if they really care about their work and about the customer. If you bring your car here, this guy will take care of it the way he'd take care of his own vehicle. If it's not right, he'll make it right. He's not going to tell you that you need repairs if you don't really need them, but he's also not going to ignore a problem that could cause further damage to your car. His prices for basic services are often LOWER than Jiffy-Lube, and he'll go over EVERYTHING. He can also take care of major engine work. He test drives cars after repairs to make sure they drive right. He doesn't let a job leave the shop until he's satisfied. I've sent my friends to BK when they've had car problems, and every single one of them (including female friends who were nervous about dealing with car repairs) was very happy. One said she felt confident about dealing with an auto repair issue for the first time in her life because BK explained everything to her, explained what the problem was, what broken part did, and how the repair would work. Why isn't the place super-fancy? Because this isn't a flashy franchise. It's a small business with a guy who knows his stuff. Also, to give you an idea of the customer service, I don't live too far from the shop. The shop owner will drive me back to my house so I can actually get stuff done during the day, and then come pick me up when the repair is done. I'm telling you - this is old-fashioned, personal customer service. Also, to the guy who said that BK uses Google searches... dude, even DOCTORS use Google search these days. With thousands upon thousands of makes, models, and years of cars on the road, with hundreds of parts in each car, EVERY mechanic looks up part numbers to correspond with your vehicle. EVERY shop, without exception, does this. Most of them just go into the "office" and hop onto their computer where you can't see them to get part numbers and prices to write up the estimate. BK just does it where you can see it. As for your oil filter... dude, s*** happens. I went to Jiffy Lube once for a radiator flush. They got air into my system and caused my engine to flood and stall out. My mom went to a dealership repair place once for a simple oil change, and they locked her keys in the car with the car running. Sometimes, you get the wrong parts delivered. A small shop can't keep EVERY PART on the market handy. It doesn't work like that. Either way, I'm happy with everything I've had done at Auto Werkz, and I'd recommend it to any of my friends. Been taking my car here for years now and won't go anywhere else. BK does great work and treats you fairly. I don't consider myself a car guy at all, so the fact that I've been able to find somebody I can trust has been great for me. To speak to this, I brought my car in recently to replace my starter. I spoke with BK on the phone and requested a quote for the service based on my model type. He gave me a price with a full explanation and breakdown and I took my car in the next day. I went there later that afternoon to pick up and when I received my bill, it was actually about $150 less than I was originally quoted. When I asked them why, they said that my starter was actually located in a place that was easier to access than they had originally anticipated and therefore didn't have to spend as much time on my vehicle. He could have easily charged me the original quote and I would have been none the wiser, which is something a lot of places would probably do, but BK was honest and didn't try to pull a fast one on me. I recieved my car back with sheet metal screws mounting the fender to the motor rail, nonfucntioning doors, a radio shot to hell, and a major lawsuit against the place.
