Firestone Danvers Review Original Date of Service: April 2023 for new breaks 2nd Date of Service: November 02, 2023 Service Requested: Inspection of front right wheel after hitting pothole, rear brakes screech when in reverse, vehicle shaking when travelling 60mph and when breaking. Findings and suggested repairs: - Screeching cause: Rear brake pads and rotors were worn down badly. They were replaced under warranty. Notice: They were new as of April 2023. - Vibration cause: Front calipers were "sheared", the brake pads and rotors were severely worn needing replacement, realignment needed. Notice: All breaks and rotors were replaced in April 2023 at this same location. November 3rd the manager (Gordy) called to confirm findings and quoted $638 to fix the front wheels He advised the calipers aren't covered under warranty because they weren't replaced in April. The rear pads and rotors were replaced under warranty from April 2023. I asked how both calipers were "sheared" and to describe what he meant but Gordy couldn't provide an answer, he said he had no idea how they were "sheared" and the calipers were in such bad shape they need to be replaced "immediately" for our safety. We agreed to wait on the repairs until I call back. November 4th, I called Gordy to let him know the cost of the front wheels will be covered by my insurance. He immediately stated "Well then, we also have to replace both front control arms" which were never discussed before, making the final cost $3k+. The Second Opinion: Location: Smaller local repair shop in Salem. (Not a national chain) Estimate requested for: Front / rear brakes along with all components for possible replacement if needed, the vibration and the screeching of the back wheels. The results: Vehicle's brakes passed inspection. - Front brakes, calipers, rotors, and control arms were found to be in good condition considering the age of the vehicle. The brakes were estimated at 6 - 8 months old and had good life left. - The rear brakes were also 6 - 8 months old and still had plenty of life left too. After his inspection and the owner of the shop took the time to show me physically each piece and what it would look like if it were at the end of its life and how absurd Gordy's quote was for services not needed. The Insurance Adjustor's findings: November 4th my insurance claims adjustor called to discuss what the Damage Adjustor found: - No damage to the control arms - No damage to front wheel calipers - Rotors and pads did not need to be replaced Ultimately, the insurance company denied the claim siting the lack of damage. After hearing this I shared my finding with the adjustor. My adjustor was shocked that Firestone tried to make money off of this situation. Although there are no legal actions to take, I can only warn those reading this to use caution when considering bringing your vehicle to any Firestone. Summary: After my experience at Firestone with Gordy, Sean and Mike I requested to speak with the District Manager. Gordy told me he can only take my information and pass it on to him. He assured me that the DM would reach out within two business days which never happened. Could it be that the Firestone in Danvers is following the instructions of their senior management to take advantage of their customers and find ways to make money?? read more

Did a Tirerack order and wanted my tires installed here. Told us over the phone they don't do appointments for tirerack installs and we would need to leave the car for the day. When we got there, we were told of course they do appointments. The car is supposed to have 34psi in each tire. Car was completed with 40/37/40/40 for tire pressures. I verified the TPMS reading with a tire gauge when the tires were cold. Sidewalls and rims were slathered in what the store manager referred to as lubrication. The store manager himself (Adam Shiesinger) told me he performed the work. I understand that they don't make a lot of money off these installs. However the lack of professionalism is unacceptable. Leaving tire pressures at incorrect numbers can be dangerous and certainly will cause the tires to wear improperly. Also, leaving that material all over the sidewalls and rims. I've NEVER seen any shop do this. If I can't trust them with a simple tire install, why would I trust them for other service. I don't intend to ever set foot in this store again unless something changes. Frankly, the store manager who did the work should be ashamed. read more

I wish I could give the Danvers, MA. location ZERO STARS after today! I've been going to this location for more than a decade now, and I have always been mostly satisfied with their work. But today, after being charged more than an hour on a job that I was quoted as taking only 30 minutes, and being routine, I may be done with this location. I can handle being overcharged, as in life things happen. So, this is not the main reason for my outrage. My outrage for this location comes from the service manager, who literally talks down to his customers, as if they are children, saying "I don't have time to go over this with you," and "This is the last time I am going to explain it to you!" Their customer service is a joke, and they get away with it. Talk to me. DON'T talk down to me! Not any longer! 10 years loyaly, 2 cars to service, and in the middle of a pandemic, this location has a lot of nerve! I'm sure I can find a mechanic out there, especially in these difficult times in a pandemic, who understands how to talk to a customer, and will not stiff a more-than-10-year customer on their bill. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. The summary below is that they triggered an electrical issue with my car during an oil change and refused to take responsibility for it, and they fabricated a problem with my car to replace some thing that was not faulty, quoting me over $2000 worth of work. Full story: I brought my car in for a regular oil change and asked them to also please take a look to see if anything was wrong because my engine has been making a weird noise. A couple months prior I had taken the car in to get tire replaced and an alignment done and since then there had been some weird noise so I simply asked them to please check on it since they were the last ones to touch it. After the oil change, Allen told me that my air struts needed to be replaced after they inspected. The quote was for over $2000. When I got in my car to drive home, I noticed that my wheel was very stiff and all of my check engine lights were on. I went back inside and explained something must've gone wrong when they did the oil change, and Allen was incredulous, with an attitude that this could not possibly be true and that they didn't touch anything with the wheel. This type of attitude is always a red flag. The next day I brought the car back in and asked them to please fix whatever they had done because my car was not like this when I dropped it off. What was supposed to be an hour took all day, and they didn't seem to know what was wrong. They blamed it on the cars electrical and stated that they absolutely did not touch anything to do with the wheel or cause any of the check engine lights to turn on, just taking absolutely no accountability. It's pretty clear that when they were doing the oil change, something must've triggered an electrical seize because the cars computer needed to be reset. Someone else from Firestone called me to explain that they don't have the ability to reset the car and let me tell you this man was incredibly rude, condescending, and aggressive to me on the phone. When I repeated that absolutely something must've gone wrong during the one and a half hour oil change, he raised his voice at me and refused to accept that explanation, blamed it on coincidence. What are the chances that my car has an electrical problem occur at that exact time? Obviously, something happened by accident, and I fully understand that this happens sometimes, but the fact that they were unable and unwilling to admit that they triggered something made me not trust them. Another mechanic simply reset the computer and all was well. Firestone doesn't have the ability to do this at their shop and frankly the mechanics are very green. I also decided to have this other mechanic look at the air struts since I concluded that day they are untrustworthy. Two separate mechanics actually reviewed the car and determined that the air struts are perfectly fine and there was actually nothing wrong with my vehicle. FIRESTONE FABRICATED THIS PROBLEM TO CONVINCE ME TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT FAULTY to pay them over $2000 for no reason. I will never return to this place even for a tire replacement or oil change. They are scummy and untrustworthy, plus they cannot even change oil without causing other issues. read more

I had a misfortune to deal with this so-called "business" recently. I had a flat tire on my Infinity and since the original tire was purchased from Firestone (different locations, excellent business) with the road hazard warranty, I needed a replacement also by Firestone. Location in North Reading was the closest one. I dealt with Max. Upon evaluation, Max claimed that my prorated credit for damaged tire would be 50%. Though, based on 50k Bridgestone tire warranty and 20k mileage on the tire, I thought that the credit should have been higher, I did not argue with him. He also claimed the wear was uneven and he would only guarantee the new tire if I did the alignment. I had to accept. He also charged me for balancing the tire. When I got my car back, the "flat tire" warning light was still on. When I asked Max he told me that it would go away after 50-100 miles of driving. We'll, it did not. I called again spoke to Adam. He could not tell me what the issue was, but suggested I come in again. I also asked him for alignment chart printout, he said there was none in the system. At this point I realized that no alignment was done. I had to do my own research. And found out that it is pretty easy to reset the warning light, which I did. In the process, I found out that they never checked pressure in other tires. Also, according to the terms of the road hazard warranty, I was not supposed to be charged for balancing. I got the charged credit back, but no apologies from Adam. Stay away! read more

I had Tire Rack ship a set of Falken tires to this location as they came recommended from someone at the local SCCA. The price to mount and balance was reasonable at 112 even if it was advertised at 92 on Tire Rack. I dropped the wheels off and they mounted and balanced the new tires and I picked them up the next day. Given all the social distancing and covid 19 I had to pay and sign using a terminal and had a receipt emailed ... All without seeing the itemized list of charges. I got home, checked the email, and discovered that Firestone charged me to replace the TPMS sensors. The really expensive specific to my car sensors installed originally by Tire Rack onto my expensive enkei wheels. Now I have who knows what cheap garbage that is unlikely to work with my car and which is going to require who knows how much more money to fix. All they had to do was mount and balance the tires. It was the only thing I told them to do. This bunch deserves 0 stars for taking advantage of covid 19 to do unauthorized work, charge extra, and actually damage other people's property. read more

Called Firestone on a Sunday morning after Toyota quoted me $600 for two new tires and said I would have to wait 3 days. Unlike Toyota, Firestone had the tires for a very old Sienna CE in stock and I was able to come in right away. I was all done in under 2 hours, even with their having to spend extra time loosening the rusted cable under the chassis where the donut sits, and it cost me half of what Toyota wanted! stay away from Firestone. they tell you that you need service that you do not. I brought my car in because of squeaking brakes. They told me that I needed new calipers. I brought my car to the dealer. They said the calipers were fine. Don't trust Firestone estimates. Get a second estimate before they do any work for you. I recently bought a set of all season tires and was looking for an installer around my area. Tirerack referred me to this place. After reading all the negative reviews, I wasn't sure if I should come here or not but it was a 2 minute drive down the street from my place. Walked in on a Tuesday morning at 730 and it was pretty busy, about 3-4 people were sitting in the waiting area. I told them that I needed 4 new tires to be mounted only. Took my keys and I sat there waited in the waiting area. They took my car in after waiting for about 10 mins. Got all 4 tires mounted and balanced. Total time that took them to finished was probably 30mins or so. Customer service was great. Friendly and outgoing staffs. Didn't try to up sell me anything as it was mention in the previous reviews. Overall experience, I will come back for future business. read more

Highly visible building from the road if you've never been before. I came for a standard oil and wiper blade change. It was all done in about an hour. The waiting space was comfy enough, had a rickety (but working!) coffee machine, and a small tv. The interior of the building was surprisingly clean. The customer service reps were pleasant to deal with on the phone and in person. All in all I walked out paying $69 for my services. This included a $15 off coupon that my sales rep generously gifted me at the front desk since I did not have one. 4 starts because at the end they tried to sell me three services, 2 of which I had already had done in the last year and the last which wasn't really necessary at the mileage I was at. They're also not in a rush. On another occasion I got to my appointment 30 minutes early with only 1 other customer there and it took an hour an a half for oil change and interior filter change. read more

I've been coming to this firestone location for the last year or so. They have performed a brake job, oil change, alignment, and replaced my tires. I've been helped on each visit by CJ (and also Mike assisted on the pickup this last time). The service I received on each occasion has been top notch, fast, knowledgeable, and very reasonably priced. CJ always goes out of his way to explain things thoroughly. This last time, we had a minor miscommunication and they bent over backwards to make things perfectly right. The only reason I'm giving 1 Star is I can't give zero. I had a 5 pm appointment for a wheel balance & rotation, at 6:30 the manager informs me that the technician is having trouble getting the lug nuts off my wheels... really? I asked him to show me & he explained that he was the only technician left, everyone else left at 5 & as I looked throughout the service area I realized that they had dumped about 6 cars to service on one tech. Who schedules multiple appointments for one tech & expects that 1) they'll be done in a reasonable amount of time. 2) the work will be done properly. Stopped in for an assessment of a screw in a tire because they were the closest shop. Tech just looked at it quickly and said that it was too close to the shoulder and could not be patched. (It measured an inch plus away from shoulder). Asked if I wanted to replace the tire. I declined and went to another shop on the way home. Manager said that it could be repaired but couldn't get me in to the shop for week. He suggested that I call a couple of other nearby shops to see if they could get me in sooner. Went to a third shop where they took the time to fully assess. Given that it wasn't losing any air and the screw was in a thick section of the tread they thought that it was likely that there wasn't a puncture. They brought my vehicle right in and removed a short length screw. Then confirmed that there was no air leaking, took it on a test drive and checked again. All for no charge while Firestone immediately wanted to sell me a new tire! read more

Stopped going here several years ago after I came in for an alignment, after my regular mechanic had just put a new front end in my truck, and Firestone tried to tell me I needed new ball joints. But now I needed one cheap carry out tire for a spare. Came here a week ago and they had to get the tire from their store one town over. Said they could get it in the next day. I scheduled to come in the following Saturday. Guess that I've been waiting for for an hour? Yeah, the tire to come in from 5 miles away. They comped me the $60 tire. After extensive research I found that Firestone in North Reading was the best value, and I have not been disappointed. I've run over nails, had slow leaks, and they have always taken care of me with prompt, on time service. I simply make an appointment and my car is taken care of as soon as I arrive. Since I bought my tires there, alignment was taken care of! WOW! As a single woman they have taken good care of me and have never taken advantage of that fact! I liked them a lot. They did a great job repairing my tires and also fixed my front brakes as well as an oil change. I appreciate a place that's a one stop shop as I HATE getting my car worked on and always feel the need to drag a family member along. My pros: great customer service (had to go back two days later because it sounded "funny" and they fixed it ASAP with a smile on their face & no charge), convenient location, good service. Cons: It took MUCH longer than I was expecting and I had my newborn son with me while I was waiting at my folks for 6 hours, without a car. They estimated it would be 2 hours and called 15 minutes before it was supposed to be ready to predict another 4 hour wait...and I needed to go back. Overall I would go there again in a heartbeat. If not for anything other than customer service and convince. As I said, they were VERY pleasant to work with which isn't always the case. Thanks! read more

In June 2015 I brought my car in for a brake job and stuck emergency brake - the one star discount is because after the brake job my car was not test driven - which would have revealed the front rotors needed turned. However when I came back it was no issue and the matter was handled rapidly and to my full satisfaction. It is nice if everything goes well the first time - however with any type of work - stuff happens. What places the team at this Firestone location above others is their commitment to getting the job done correctly. You do need to call to see if your car is ready as they were slack on letting me know the car was ready. I plan to return in the future. read more

Gave me attitude when I said I didn't want new tires for a simple fix. They're money grabbers, they don't care for the best solution for your vehicle or pocket. read more

I was not at all satisfied . I was treated child when I'm fact adult. Was not told of what I was getting so they could get their money. Only reason I came to this location OUT OF MY WAY was because I had a coupon and tried to take advantage of me because I'm a girl and tell me I need an oil that I in fact know I don't need. I am not stupid and extremely upset at how the manager treated me. Would never recommend anyone to come here ever. I went out of my way to come to this location. All they care about is their money. Holy smokes, never going back to this location again on account of many reasons, one the customer service from this younger tall white gentlemen was absolutely embarrassing, He was rude and condescending the whole time, called and said my 70,000 miles tires are showing signs of wear even though I rotate them every oil change with firestone, he goes "you live in New England you need an alignment every 6 months, which I have never heard before, claims he told me about services which he never did, I am seeing other people having horrible times with these guys as well, must be under new management but they lost mine and my family's business, we are pulling out account. Been there for many cars. I've had alignments and such, but it seems like I've always had to go back for something small (it's not their fault I got a nail in my tire though.) However, my first or there resulted in a call to the district manager. I did like some of the mechanics they had, but they can't seem to keep good staff. I've bought many sets of tires from tire rack and had them shipped there. Easy, or so I though. As I was told many times (and did the same with my car before) I had tires put on my new car (which had terrible OEM tires.) Now I'm told free rotations which I always got when my tired were mounted and balanced. Last time I EVER go there. read more

Imagine bringing your vehicle in to diagnose something minor and getting it back worse than you dropped it off? Forcing you to repair something that was just an inconvenience immediately because now it's a hazard. Or being told a service will cost a certain amount when you authorize it but told a different amount when you pick your vehicle up because your technician "didn't check" and apparently conveyed the wrong information. Or only purchasing tires from them for the last 4 years but somehow the tire you need replaced (that I can't even be sure came off of my car) didn't come from them so isn't covered under the warranty. They do not honor appointment times at all and will overbook even when they know they are not staffed to handle to load. You will wait forever, even for something simple & quick. Today I had an appointment at 3, they didn't even bring my car in until 3:50 and then it took another 50 minutes for them to plug a tire. Anywhere else, this would take 20 minutes tops. This is also the 4th time that I either had to bring my car back because an issue they worked on wasn't resolved or they have discovered a mistake/problem that they caused the last time they worked on my car. In this case, they found that they put the pressure sensors in the wrong wheels when I bought new tires from them a year ago. I won't be coming back. read more

I had minor issues for my car. Such as ax compressor and my brakes and tires and one other thing done for my engine. The staff is very unprofessional and does not speak to their word. My car was dropped off on a Thursday and I was planned to pick it up the next day in the Afternoon. Friday comes and I call them to get an update. One of the people I was speaking to said they would call me back and my car would be ready by 5pm. Hours went by and I did not receive a call back. I ended up calling to check on my car. They said it would be ready in 10 minutes. I call my uber from Lynn to North Reading and about 40 Minutes pass by. I come in and they tell me it would be 5 minutes. I told Max I want the general managers information because this is unacceptable and misleading. I was told on the first day that I would have to pay $3300 for the work done on my car.. I did not mind paying that because my car needed to be fixed but I WILL NOT pay that due to my car still being in the same spot I dropped it off in and for their unprofessional communication skills. read more

Hit or miss. I had a wonderful experience my first time here but last time I went in for an alignment I must have had a less experienced tech. Car was all over the road after alignment and I later discovered that one of my rubber suspension bushings was burned out with a torch. Cost me an extra set of tires as a result. read more

I brought my vehicle in for check up two weeks ago. I exit an hour later with the following diagnosis. You need an outer tie rod ($600+), your front and rear brakes need to be done (about $450 per side) and you need a tire as is it wearing on one side. So let's say $1800 or $1900 (ballpark). It should be mentioned I had them do a inner tie rod about six months ago (same wheel). I mentioned they just did the rear brakes about 8000 miles ago. The person states oh well Autozone sells cheap parts and we have changed vendors! "I can check with the manager to see if they will do rears as a courtesy". I go home call my son who has ASE credentials. He finds time to put car on lift and states that when they did the inner tie rod they didn't tighten this nut (showing me the problem). He proceeds to tighten it and the side to side test is now tight. He checked the brakes...he indicated I have plenty of pads on each side. He mentioned the workmanship on the brakes they did on the rear was poor. I ended up buying two new tires ($400) which could have been prevented if the inner tie rod was done right. My son finished with a front end alignment. My faith in this shop has dropped considerably. I regret leaving the technician a $5 tip. read more

These guys are amazing!! Talk about outstanding customer service!! They went above and beyond for me last night and I couldn't be any happier!! They were all so friendly and welcoming, not pushy with sales like other places, and they were completely honest with me and I truly respect and appreciate that so much. I'm so grateful for them!! After calling the Wilmington FireStone location at 6:30 pm last night and they did not answer their phone, even though their hours are listed until 7 pm, I decided to see if there were any other locations in my area and I found this location. So the Wilmington location lost business but the North Reading location gained an extremely happy customer who will definitely be returning!! They deserve more than just the 5 stars allowed!! read more

I went here on a whim after getting a flat tire two hours from home, and the manager of tire sales Robert Mondello was amazing! He took us in right away, was honest about the pricing and how long it would take, and went out of his way to get the tire mounted quickly and have us on our way.
