Joe is great and he has a nice clean shop. Down to earth guy who does repairs right. I have used his garage numerous times.

Joe sold New Meadows and it IMMEDIATELY went downhill. Avoid at all costs now! I was just charged almost $700 for a simple fix to a check engine light (a new O2 sensor). The part would normally cost about $80 at Napa, and it's a 10 minute job at best. I realize they need to make a profit, but come on - - - $700!?!? So much for the affordable and reliable service I used to get at New Meadows. They'll never see any of my 4 cars again! I miss Joe already... read more

I took my BMW i3 there to have a newOn returbing home set of tires put on. It was frustrating from the start. I was not allowed to order tires from TireRack, Joe told me he would not accept them. Joe ordered all season tires and had them mounted. A day or two later I drove the car to Rochester, New Hampshire in rain that turned to snow as I got further north. I put the car in traction mode to improve handling. I passed several accidents. Proceeding slowly I noticed a sound that concerned me. I guessed that it had to do with the traction. Later, after an errand I resumed driving and proceeded toward the highway on ramp. Before reaching the ramp I concluded that the worrying sound had gotten worse and I felt friction in the wheels so I turned around and pulled over at an auto supply shop to ask for directions to a service station. Luckily it happened that a Jiffy Lube was two doors down the road. Three mechanics looked my car over for me. At first they said nothing looked wrong. When I pressed them to check the wheels they put the car up on the lift. In carefully checking each wheel they discovered that the problem was with the right rear wheel. All of the five bolts were loose. The wheel was not secured to the car. The mechanics at Jiffy Lube tightened the bolts and checked that the other three wheels were safe. On returning home I immediately called Joe at New Meadows to let him know what had happened. Rather than expressing any concern he immediately made excuses. Not only did Joe send back the car in an unsafe condition, he did not offer any apology or express any sympathy or concern. Yet if I had driven the car on the highway that day there was a strong chance I would have gotten into a serious accident. read more

We had our truck break down completely out of oil, it was a simple problem yet they didn't even bother lifting a finger to help all they were concerned about was with the parking space that we HAD to take up and $$$. The owner had us go across the street ( RUDE is a understatement) giving the engine more damage. Jimmy from Paul's auto and Towing did his work for him even gave a ride to Napa for more oil. Place is a total rip off told that it was going to 50$ to fix a little part ended up spending over 300$ to get a part that's no bigger then a hockey puck. Will ever go back to this place again. read more

Important: all good reviews are old!! 5 months ago spent $3,000 to fix a squeaking screeching belt, replace the clutch and a surprise $300 oil leak. After belt was still making noise and clutch wasn't tight as I expected it. Joe told me I needed to drive it a little to break it in?? Finally got it to Real mechanic who said belt was very loose, may have even been a wrong size in the first place. Hen he confirmed clutch was a SLOPPY job may even have a part in there that might be too small. Sloppy Joe did good work when he was started out back in the day. Quality now sucks and I can never trust Sloppy Joe again. Plenty of other excellent repair shops in town read more

New Meadows is my car mechanic of choice, and Joe (the mechanic) is my car's best friend. I have tried many mechanics around the north shore and have finally settled on these guys. It is always a drag to have car problems, but New Meadows relieves some of the stress and worry. They are very reasonable with their prices. If there was nothing to fix, then there was nothing to pay! They provide their expert opinions while still listening to your needs and never pressuring you into extensive work. They are smart and know their stuff which means less time poking around and guessing. Most of all, I trust Joe- I can just tell he is an honest guy. One time, my car was making strange noises and Joe and i drove around the block together to listen to the sounds. Now that's service! My car has visited them probably 6-7 times in the last 3 years. I am now living in Newbury and working in Cambridge, but I am still finding a way to bring my car here. read more

I drove up from DC and my car shaking. My friend checked the air in my tires once I got to his house but the car continued to shake. I asked for a recommendation and he recommended New Meadows in Ipswich. I called the the Wednesday before thanksgiving, explained that I had to drive back Saturday. They took me right away. The mechanic called me with a few minutes of having the car and told me it was my tires. They needed to be replaced. He was able to replace them for me and have the car ready by that to afternoon. Also took time when I picked up the car to talk to me about my rear alignment. 4 new tires and placement cost about $650. The car runs a great. LOVE New Meadows! Have been all over Ipswich for auto repair and this came highly recommended by a car enthusiast that I know that repairs the body of cars. They have been caring for our 4 cars for the past 5 years. They don't come any more honest and we have never had a bad experience! Almost everyone I know goes to him and loves him. Honest folks, very prompt service when I needed four tires one morning (still got to work on time). I was disappointed once when I got my oil changed, and, a week later, the battery died. The AAA guy who replaced the battery was surprised that they hadn't noticed the crusting around the battery when they changed the oil. read more
