Firestone Complete Auto Care Service is expected to be excellent as they charge you more compare to a small business shops. This particular branch in Dale Street Modesto where I took my Ford Explorer 2017 for oil change, tire rotation and rotor/brake pads replacement and all basic check ups including air pressure is an exception that made me think not to be trusted.. here's why? 1. When I picked up my car, I called the Service Advisor/Manager's attention that my tire pressure is low from the right rear wheel that reads 30psi from normal psi of 35 when I brought the car in. The manager says it's only the pressure sensor that will auto adjust as soon as I drive and that he sees no issue. So this means he is implying nothing wrong with the tires. Then I went to drive about 2 miles and noticed the low tire pressure from the rear went normal and switched to the front right from a normal of 35psi to 28. I decided to drive back to the shop and called the managers attention again and ask his explanation. He said then again it's the sensor with the same advise and explanation. He then also called one of his guy to put air to 37psi. Then off I go trusting what the keeping in mind what the manager told me. Then days passed and noticed my front tires keeps on play with 29- 30 and keeps on putting air to 40 to test if there's a leak. Then again after days of driving pressure dramatically will go down up to 30. I decided to had my tire check up to a small shop where I bought my tires. They found a thick 5 mm screw to the 2nd thread/traction line of the tire. My assessment....why did they not see it knowing that they did a complete basic check up where they usually do....Was my tire punctured intentionally? 2. For the rotor/brake pads replacement. The had been driven less than 3K miles from the day of service. I noticed that the rotor is sliding/sudden jerking I release and step on the gas. Just like a bicycle with a broken bearing or slipping gear when coming from a free wheeling and sudden pedal step to accelerate. Their response....nothing wrong and could be a transmission issue. by the way.....never had this issue before. 3. Here is the worst and dangerous part that put me and my family in danger while going home from vacation in Vegas....like I previously mentioned, since the service was done I drove less than 3K miles for the entire 3months - no long drive, only casual driving and not a speeder and most of all did not ran into a road debris nor struck an object on the road that could damage the oil filter. Service was done May. Gone Aug 3rd for a family holiday, drove to LA stayed there for a night. The next day packed our luggage to the back of the car then closed the liftgate and did not notice anything wrong then drove to Vegas for a 2 days stay. Along the was from Modesto to LA all the way to Vegas I was driving casual based on the highway speed limit. Again I am not a speeder and did not remember hitting an object on the road nor got struck by a road debris that could damage the oil filter. So I arrived Vegas and unload our luggage from the liftgate. I noticed a slightly oily surface on the lift gate. I did not bothered as I might have got it along the way as the Temperature was 105F-119F, uphill/downhill drive at an altitude of 4000ft. Then on our way back to LA from Vegas about 18miles before reaching Hysperia, while I was driving, there was a lady driver passed me and waving while shouting "There's a smoke coming out from the back of your car!!!!" I immediately slowed down and pulled over to the shoulder to check. I noticed oil like sprayed entirely on the surface of the liftgate as if the entire back of my car was sprayed with engine oil. Checked underneath the car and seen oil spills everywhere including the gas tank and exhaust pipes. While on engine idle, I don't see any smoke but smells burned engine oil. I then rev the gas and noticed smoke comes out at the back. So, I then browsed immediately for a nearest Firestone branch for a service. Found the Firestone Hysperia Branch 18miles from my location. So I drove slow on my way there about 50-60mph. while driving asked my son to look if there is a smoke and sees nothing so I continue. When I reached my destination, the Firestone Hysperia Team immediately checked what was wrong. The car was lifted to check the oil filter. We've seen that every time the car was rev'd to 3KRPM a spraying oil is coming out from the oil filter. Looks like a very tiny hole. No serious dents on the oil filter can be seen that could have caused the tiny puncture. Again, when RPM is on 3K that is where oil spray comes out of the filter. So the smoke is caused by touching the extremely hot part of the exhaust that slightly burns the oil causing smoke and close to ignite or explode as the fuel tank is all soaked with engine oil with me and my entire family on board. My brother has been going to this Firestone for years and highly recommends it. He had an issue with a tire under warranty but he was having a bad day and was very grumpy. He was admittedly rude to the sales associate Anthony, but Anthony was able to remain professional and calm as well as calm my brother down. Anthony made things right and in the end was able to make my brother a very happy customer. I had initially made an appointment through their app requesting services I needed done for my car. A few hours later I got an email from them stating my services were unable to be done and the appointment wasn't made. It also stated I would receive a call from them discussing other appointment availability. That didn't happen. I called, spoke to someone, requested a oil change and tire rotation during the same time I had requested through the app, and my appointment was made on 6/14/21. Today, 6/16/2021 my appointment was set for 2pm. I was told for appointments my car would take 1 hour - 1 hour and 30 mins. I dropped my car off at 1:38. I called to check on my car at 3:45 and the guy on the phone told me they were BARELY pulling my car in to begin services. I asked why is it being pulled in now if my appt was at 2. All I was told is they lost a few mechanics and they're really behind. I pulled my car and just left. I wasn't about to sit and wait another who knows how long. When I got there the shop was full on both sides of vehicles. A few employees were smoking outback and there was a gentlemen that was on the computer when I got there, and still there when I left. His ears were glued to the phone talking about " article crap back and forth" and trying to sell warranty certificates to this ignorant customer that don't know jack about wheels and tires. Went here to get a single tire needed to match the other 3 on a new car I had just bought. Anthony helped me out right away but informed me the tire was discontinued. He checked with warehouse and was able to get one delivered the next day. They called me mid morning said the tire was there and I went down and tire was on in less than an hour. Anthony also hooked me up with road hazard protection for all 4 Firestone tires on my car even though I only purchased 1. Ronnie was helpful in the checkout process as well. Great place. We made an appointment on Tuesday to come this Sunday at 1pm; I even called this morning to see if they can take me earlier, William said they can't which was fine so far; when I got there Anthony helped me, initially he denied the appointment to justify the 4 hours wait for tire rotation but I insisted to look up by the phone number, he found it and even lied claiming this isn't an appointment but rather notes in the system! He kept changing his story several times and finally he blamed the inadequate staffing of his shop and his guys need to take lunch break! October, 2019: Had my tires rotated with a "Complete Vehicle Inspection" for an additional charge at Firestone Complete Auto Care 3230 Dale Rd, Modesto, CA 95356. Drove the car to my home which is a mile away with a grinding noise with each turn of the wheels. Concerned, I didn't drive on the freeway. The Problem: Lug nuts to both front wheels were so loose that "you could turn them with only your fingers." This is according to a qualified mechanic to whom I took the car to afterward. Additionally, the mechanic states, "if you were to drive it more and at freeway speeds the bolts will snap for sure." - For those who are unsure what this means, I could have lost by detachment my front wheels while driving on the freeway. I'm lucky to be alive writing this and to warn the public. You could be next. This is CRIMINAL. Firestone is a tire company. Using a torque wrench to tighten lug nuts on a tire is so basic and fundamental. I'm NOT a Firestone hater. I have been a Firestone customer at this particular site for about 20 years - I live just a mile away. Over the past five to six years, I have notice decline in the quality of their staff and store manager. I ask how's my battery and they said my battery still in very good condition but somehow it died today and I had O'reilly Auto parts check on it and told me it's really bad. To everyone in Modesto CA.. stay away from this place...the service advisor PJ..is only concerned about making a sale for his commission....I went for a alignment job and took it in twice and they didn't even complete the job and they tried to make me purchase other repairs while they didn't complete the first job then I watched them. Charge another person for a job they could not get the parts for and they knew that and still charged him for nothing.....plus they got grease all over my carpet in the truck.....very negligent and incomplete work.. sloppy...I took my truck to another shop and they did the work correctly and right the first time ... plus they sent me out back to the streets not fixing the alignment job and that's unsafe and could of damaged my truck.....and they tried to make me repurchase new parts.... to replace new parts I already had replaced a few days ago....they are very dishonest and you should take your car to another shop....they are only concerned about overcharging you and they don't even finish the job correctly.... read more

I went in to get 4 brand new tires and initially got quoted just a little more than I could afford. Anthony, the service manager then helped me out and matched the price to costco. Problem: front tire was NOT bolted properly leaving enough "wiggle " that according to another shop which I had to spend more money to fix, I would likely lose the tire had I drove in the freeway. I called today to make an appointment to bring it in and they refused service. Apparently I have to drive out of my way to another Firestone to have their shoddy work fixed. I also waited for the director to call me for weeks and never received a call. The complaint has now been escalated to corporate and hopefully they will do something about it. I've been bringing my car here for over a decade. The past couple years I've been asking for the inspection service at every oil change due to the age of my car. Up until the last oil change everything was fine. However, at the last inspect I got a report that showed at least 1000+ bucks worth of service needed ( keep in mind that 3 months ago at the last inspection, everything was fine ). Suspicious I inspected the vehicle myself and determined most of it was not needed. I then took it somewhere else to get inspected and they confirmed it. They did kick up a serious issue that these folks missed, however. They take forever, their customer service is garbage and their mechanics are both incompetent and untrustworthy. I called and spoke with Paul this morning at 11:30am and after he remarked that the schedule was very light, he set up alignment at 2pm today. When my wife arrived at 1:45pm, she was told that the car would be ready after 5:30pm. Now, I know an alignment only takes an hour, and I also know that I scheduled this appointment for 2pm, so I called and spoke with Paul again, who did not remember our conversation that morning (I can't blame him here - I talk to a million people a day too and know how it is). He told me that our appointment was not scheduled and they were extremely busy. I asked him to pull the call recording of our discussion at at 11:30am so he could hear himself tell me 2pm would be fine, but he cut me off and said he'd have the car done in two hours. Again, an alignment should take a maximum of one hour and my wife doesn't have that kind of time to wait around with our 18 month old son. I told him it needed to be finished in 90 minutes to which he replied "Look I'm trying to help you here." I'm sorry, Paul. I will be the judge of whether or not someone is being helpful. If I could give this store ZERO stars I would. The only good thing about this place is the front desk lady (I think her name was Leslie) was really nice and accommodating. HOWEVER, the mechanic that looked at my car was just trying to get me to pay parts. I had put brand new terminals on my car maybe about 2 weeks ago & they wanted me to pay $126 for new ones?! NO! They didn't even test my starter or alternator like they are supposed to with the $25 they tried to charge me. Had the audacity to tell me they couldn't test the starter because it doesn't start. My 17 year old took her car for an oil change and they said the wrong plug was put in the oil pan on the prior oil change. Tried charging her over $800 to replace whole pan. Took the car to a local mechanic shop and they changed the oil with no problem at all. The mechanic didn't even charge after we told him about the Firestone experience. After buying new tires at America's Tire, I went to Firestone for an alignment with an appointment. They made me wait anyway and eventually put it on the rack and after an hour wait informed me that they couldn't align it because the nuts were stuck and couldn't be loosened. They tried to sell me on front end replacement. I refused and went to Midas. Midas did my alignment with no issues. No story about stuck nuts or parts needing to be replaced. read more

I believe they took advantage of my granddaughter yesterday, she went in with a tire that went flat on her at Target in Modesto some guy filled with air for her, but it went flat overnight, they filled again and drove it to Firestone because the place where she bought them was closed (Sunday). She was visiting her friend and the friends parents only spoke Spanish. Whoever attended to her never spoke to her directly at Firestone, they spoke in Spanish to her friends parents. She was fed a bunch of bullshit, the Firestone employee told them that the rim on the tire was in bad shape from driving it flat which was a lie. When I called today I was told that their was a puncture on the side wall and they couldn't repair it. I will never know the truth. All I know is that the other 3 tires have plenty of thread and I think it was more profitable to sell her a new tire, since she is young and did not know what was going on. I am F pissed. They did not show her what was wrong, she was told she needed a new tire. They treated her like a piece of you know what. read more

This place is a joke. If you're like me and find yourself needing a tire change on a Sunday in Modesto you will notice only a couple places are open. Do not make the same mistake I made and bank on this one. I called the establishment at 9am (the time they open) to inquire if I could bring a truck in to have a tire repaired and it needed to be done by close of business Sunday for I had a business trip on Monday. They lady who answered the phone couldn't even answer basic questions about the availability of their tire technicians as well as if they even could do it. All she kept saying is "I have a lot of tickets already, I have no idea. I can't tell you anything." Mind you.. I called at 9am and they had only been open for 3 mins at this point lol. Being a service technician myself I was a little surprised by how she was handling the situation, she clearly didn't care nor did she seem to have basic knowledge. Honestly it's like why even pick up the phone if you can't answer basic questions like available of tire technicians lol. She said it was best to just bring it in. I decided to bring it in and listen to her (driving a 2500HD on 45psi because the stem broke) as it was only 4 minutes from my house and noticed there was a fleet of vehicles but only two people who were ahead of me in line. Only one associate was actually assisting customers and I asked him about the situation and he immediately told me it was impossible to have done that day but he could have it complete by Monday. Normally I wouldn't really mind but it just blows me away with how incompetent that lady was. She could've easily just asked her coworker (who she was standing next to) if it was possible. Long story short, they just seem rather incompetent and rude when you're in the shop. Do what I did instead and save yourself a headache and take it to Pep Boys on Orangeburg if it's a Sunday. Had a really bad experience with this place of business. Bought a set of tires from them a few years ago. The tires were good, Service was good, or, so I thought. Anyway they gave me a good deal. 4 very good tires for 550.00 and there was a special deal at the time where you could take 90 days to pay them off with no interest being applied. So why not? Well 30 days later I get a letter from First Credit NA, which is Firestone, saying that I missed my first payment of 39.95 and now owe them a late fee of 49.95. So now I'm looking at a payment of 89.90. Called the dealer and told them what had happened. They said they would look into it. 31 days later I get another letter from them saying they are concerned that I haven't made a payment and that I now owe them another late fee of 49.95 along with the original 89.90. I immediately wrote them a check for the original sale price of 550.00 and sent it to them. 2 weeks later I checked my bank and the check had been cashed by Credit First NA. They continued to charge me late fees for about 3 years. I kept sending them letters of explanation along with a copy of the cancelled check showing that they had their money. The reviews before mine, both good and bad, are correct. The good: They are friendly and knowledgeable. The do the job well. I trust them not to try to sell me on work that does not need to be done. The bad: It does not matter if you make an appointment or not. They will always say they have time for you. You will wait too long for your car. I have made an appointment for an oil change and noticed the car did not get into the shop for an hour. The reason I use them is because it is one of the few places my fleet-managed company car can go that does it all. I would also use them on all cars if it was convenient to drop the car off at the start of the day and pick it up at the end. If this is you, I cannot recommend them more highly. But if you are looking to get a quick oil change, tire rotation, or just have it checked out while you wait, better bring something to do, cause you will be there a while. I usually go here to get my oil changes by walkin and its typically no problem and i get out by in hour or less. I made an appt this time and it's been over an hour and a half and im still not out of the building. Im a little disappointed because i've had consistent short visits where I didn't have to make an appt and they would seem busy and I would get out fast! It's one thing to tell me it'll be done in an hour WITH appointment but yet I'm just sitting here on the couch nearing 2 hours. But all the employees are very great at what they do. All have been very welcoming, great customer service. But to be honest, I don't know if I'll be going back here anymore. read more

Not sure about the actual quality of more in-depth repairs and maintenance, but I've gotten my old changed here at least 5 or 6 times, and every time it's been smooth sailing, and I'll continue to come here unless I experience otherwise. The oil change was very fast and I like being able to come in at 7am. My only complaint is that oil leaked on my garage floor when I got home because there was probably some spillage when they added oil or removed the filter. It's alway good to do a thorough wipe down after the oil change so that doesn't happen. read more

Although the mechanics are knowledgeable about cars, they lack the skills to do a complete job and they don't have the organization skills to run a business. i called in and asked if i was able to get an alignment. i live in Merced so Modesto firestone is a 40min drive. they assured me that if i came in promptly at 5pm, the alignment machine would be available for my car. I arrived at 5 and guess what?! they had two people in line in front of me, and they were going to close the shop at 6pm.. the guy at the front said "uhh.. sorry we don't have time to do your car. who did you speak to on the phone?" !!!! how can they make a stupid mistake like that if they are trying to run a business? i came in a week later, at a specified time (i called beforehand to schedule) and i had to wait 40min while they finished 2 cars before me. the mechanics actually do know what they are talking about, and explained what was wrong with my car. however when i asked them to straighten my steering wheel, they didn't completely recenter the steering wheel by equalizing lengths of both tierod ends.. also, butch is a grumpy old man who should retire soon before he hurts himself. read more
