Went in because I had a nail in my tire. One lady came to look at it and said they might not be able to patch it, but they would try. Otherwise I would have to get all new tires. She told me she'd have someone look at for sure by 4:30, but probably sooner (I came in at 2:30). She told me to have a seat, and offered me coffee. So, fine experience so far. I sit in the lobby waiting for 2 full hours until 4:30, getting pretty annoyed that it was taking so long. Finally at 4:30 I go up to the counter and he asks if I was picking up or dropping off. I was surprised since I was the only person in the waiting area and had been there for the last two hours, in full view of the counter, and it seemed like he thought I was just walking in. There were maybe 4 people that had come in in the past 2 hours, it's not like the place was packed. Is it that hard to remember faces and realize I had been there the entire time? So that was a bit weird but here's what really pissed me off: I asked about my car, he looked some things up, and then said they had already patched it up and it was ready to go! I was pretty annoyed because they made no effort to notify me that it was done, especially since I was clearly right there waiting for it for 2 HOURS! They had my cell number and never called that either. I told the guy that it "would have been nice to know that my car was done, I've been sitting here for two hours" and he responded: "well, you know..." and then started talking about the weather like it was no big deal. This whole nail in the tire thing had already ruined my day and made me cancel plans, you would think they would be a tad more sympathetic to the customers time and maybe pay the slightest bit of attention to the people in their lobby. Kudos to Firestone Complete Auto Care in Millbrae. I stopped by today because the tire warning light was on. The gal behind the desk said that they will check the pressure for my tires. I thought that I would have to wait because they were busy. I was wrong. They checked my tires right away. All were good. I was in and out within 10 minutes. This place is so sketchy. Every time I come here my gut instinct is like 'leave leave leave'. Unorganized and most times I've come here they've been 'out of stock' of what their website said was available and I've been upsold. The only time it didn't happen I had a preprinted estimate and they scrambled to cover their upsell. Later I got a puncture in a tire they sold me, when I asked about it they 'forgot' where the puncture was, but oh man it meant I needed to pay for a new tire. You can get tires here but be VERY CAREFUL. Get those preprinted estimates and argue prices. Oh, also, one time I was here and had to listen to some old lady try to get a ride home out of the service dude by being gross and flirting and it was very uncomfortable. I know he probably isn't allowed to be mean to customers but ew. Just say no. read more

(Posting on behalf of my boyfriend who doesn't have a Yelp account but had a terrible experience with these guys) "When the manager of a store never returns your calls and repeatedly states "You aren't my only customer here", "I have a business to run", red flags should probably pop up in your head that this is isn't the right place for your business. I am a repeat customer here as it is closest to my home and is a "preferred" installer from Tirerack to which I have connections with. When Jose was around for installation on my first vehicle, I was very pleased with the service despite how busy they were. However, I found that they did not tighten the lug nuts on my tires remotely near specifications. In my latest installation attempt for another vehicle, Victor was not only unapologetically rude, but he also failed to grasp the bare minimum requirements of customer service. I had tires shipped to the store which were marked as delivered to the establishment by the shipping company and also confirmed by GPS via their customer service. After 3 hours of calls with Victor and finally a visit in person to Firestone, they failed to find the tires, but never once told me they were gone or lost or missing. Instead I was informed to keep waiting around while they "looked". Surely enough after waiting multiple days, I was never given the courtesy of a reply call and I was two tires short that no one wanted to admit was lost. Thankfully for Tireracks awesome customer service, 2 new tires were shipped to a competitor from which i will be taking my business and that of my coworkers from now on. I have also made recommendations to Tirerack to remove this store as a preferred installer as I have Victors word in person that "being a preferred installer with Tirerack means nothing. I don't know what they ship here". For others that decide to ship tires to this establishment or use their services, I hope this review serves as a warning of what may happen to you." read more

Went in for the for the first time today to get a flat repair taken care of. Elaria and Sean took care of me as soon as they could and I was pleased with the work, except now I heard a grinding under my car (hold your thoughts, it's a 5 star review for a reason). I called them back about 2 hours later noting that my skip plate looked warped after my visit, thinking the blame might be on one of the techs working on the car. I was asked to bring the car in for inspection, and it turned out that none of the work or machinery came in contact with the skip plate. Rather than point out that they weren't to blame and send me on my way, they (a group of at least 6 crew members, special shouts to Steve and Wai) immediately started giving me options of what they can do to help. They made my plate function well and charged me nothing for it when I offered! You've certainly earned a customer with me today, and I look forward to purchasing my next set of tires from you. read more

Please read: Had a decent experience getting my tires from them 3 months ago. My tire pressure light keeps coming on. I take it back to them this morning and was instructed to back it up into the bay so the mechanic could look at it. My husband backs the car up as we hear someone yelling HERE HERE HERE. My husband opens his door and ask the mechanic why he is yelling and the mechanic yells back HERE HERE, OVER HERE. My husband tells the mechanic again, you need to stop yelling at me and you need to calm down. There is no reason for all of that. So my husband gets in the car(windows rolled up) and we can now here the mechanic yelling just stay there ! To speed the story along, I go in to ask for a manager. He comes out, talks to my husband, talks to mechanic (I can hear the whole conversation) manager walks back over, start talking to my husband and I and then out comes the mechanic with a screwdriver in hand, he keeps telling my husband you have a problem, is there a problem? Yes, there IS A PROBLEM! The Manger is holding back the mechanic from him coming towards my husband. He asked the mechanic multiple times to go back to the garage and he would handle it. He had to walk him away himself. As I stand here thinking what the heck part of business does this occur? As I stand talking to the manager as he defends the character of his employee, that mechanic walks over and is now telling the other 5 mechanics and pointing at us. The level of professionalism is a joke, the manager as courteous as he attempted to be did nothing to resolve, assist or make right of the situation. Ok, so now what? We have to find another firestone, etc.etc. wanted to consider this our place to go.. not now. Gives firestone a horrible representation. Let's see what the 1-800 number I was provided does. Rob had the most awesome smile and very helpful. I had called in the morning for a check up. They allow me at noon and checked a grinding noise in the front right side of my van. I had shockstrouts installed a few weeks back. The front side had been popped and it needed to be replaced . It was completed by four that afternoon after waiting for the part to be courier delivered in a rush . This would have taken a day over night but Rob expedited this job to completion this same day. Great appointment set-up, quick service, and pick-up/check-out! Made an easy appt. over the phone with Kevin at the Millbrae Firestone for a 4-wheel lifetime alignment (good at any Firestone company store nationwide as long as one owns the same vehicle) on a 3-year-old vehicle--1st alignment since purchased new with new tires on it now. With the Bay Area's bad roads and potholes, an alignment was definitely needed. Kevin explained what service will be done and how long to expect. Arrived at appt. time and a lady "Larry" inspected the car thoroughly with an offer for free brakes and fluid levels inspections. The car was ready in 35 minutes and now drives very smoothly. I went to fire stone the other day to have my tire checked out for low tire pressure and it was right at closing time. They took me in anyway and checked all my tires for the correct pressure.They even put my car up on the lift and checked for any puncture's. when done I asked them how much do I owe the and they said nothing. I've been going to Firestone in Millbrae for every issue from my tires to windshield wipers to brake lights issues. They've even waited for me to get my car despite being 10 mins late for CLOSING TIME! Customer service is great here and all the services they've done for my Fiat has been impeccable (even better than fiat workshops are doing btw). I would recommend this place! OK, OK, OK, I understand, us guys, we're all extremely trigger happy, right? Whether it's a day at the firing range, topping off the gas tank, or caulking the bath tub, men are notorious for being trigger happy, even when it's a bad idea, right? Well, the technician that worked on my car here takes stupid trigger happy to the umpteenth dimension -- he absolutely torqued the living hell out of my lug nuts!!! Homeboy must really love his impact gun or something, but seriously, lemme tell you how tight he torqued those things: I had to swap a wheel out a couple days after getting my work done here, so I proceeded to put my lug adapter into my breaker bar (I have custom lug nuts for my custom wheels) and started to try to loosen the lug nuts. Zero budge, solid as a rock. OK, no biggie, I'll just do the old step-down trick and step-step-step-step-then... BOOM! The lug adapter cracked!!!! That's how insanely tight the lug nuts were thanks to how frikkin' crazy the tech went with his impact gun! So I called them up to complain about their tech going absolutely nuts on tightening my, well, lug nets, and the manager Hugh basically says tough luck. I say he ought to replace my adapter because his torque-happy tech was the root of the problem, but good ol' Hugh says that lug nut adapters tend to give out and that he wasn't gonna cover nada. BULL-FXXXXIN'-SH!T!!!!!!!! I tell him I'm gonna call corporate, he tells me to go right ahead in his little know-it-all bitch ass tone of voice. I think I'm gonna make his wish come true and call corporate with a laundry list of all the crap I can see wrong with his shop (on top of this little incident). We Yelpers must punish incompetence mercilessly in order to usher our world into a new era of knowledge and enlightenment!!!!!!!! Apparently their business is so good that they can not only turn away business, but can also treat potential new customers extremely rudely. Allow me to explain: on Saturday evening we some how picked up a huge nail in one of our tires. This place happened to be near by so we pulled up to see if they could fix us up really quickly. My dad got out of the car to explain the problem to the guys who were working there. It's important to note that they weren't busy, Long story shorter, no, they could not plug the tire, they don't do that, they do patches, but he 'didn't have time for that'. We asked what time they closed, 6pm the guy said...it was 5:25. Fine, I'm not going to argue with you, if you don't want my money I'm happy to take it elsewhere. This place, do not ever bother! I called to schedule an alignment because it was closer to work and thought, "hey maybe I can get this done during lunch". Thinking I was going to receive the same customer compliance as their Redwood City location and I thought wrong. Whoever was on the other line, their customer service skills were atrocious. First, he seemed to be in LALA Land. Second, I asked how long will the service last and he replied "a while", HELLOOOOOOOOOO....minutes, perhaps an hour? Then he puts me on hold, forever. Upselling or false advertisement??? I had a coupon for a standard oil change but was told by Andrew that they no longer used Quaker oil because of previous complaints. He told me I would have to pay $39.99 to get a full synthetic oil change and that he couldn't honor the coupon (which I had just printed) for $24.95. I proceeded to call San Mateo and Chris graciously honored a full synthetic oil change for the price on the coupon. Now that was the correct way to step up and show great customer service instead of turning me away to drive even further to accomplish my maintenance. You would think, that with all the competition that Firestone has, that they would be do ANYTHING to make the customer satisfaction their first priority. DO NOT get tires or ANYTHING done here! #1, they couldn't even balance the tires after putting new ones on. Had to come back to get that fixed. #2, one day after getting the new tires, my TPMS light came on. Stopped in first thing in the morning to get that problem addressed, they "took a look" at things and reset the light. Almost home from work the same day (10 miles away from shop) and TPMS light starts flashing. I call the shop, they put me on hold for 5 mins before I hang up. Call back, they don't answer, call back again, I'm forwarded to a headquarters or something, the girl on the line had NO clue. So I obsessively called back (about 5 times more) before someone finally answered and they played dumb. Finally talk to the "manager" and he starts crying about how I'm disrespecting him because I'm swearing. Excuse me, but your INCOMPETENT self and technician have put my life and vehicle at risk, so I'm gonna swear. Thirdly, I've now been sitting here and not 1 person has acknowledge me or even looked in the direction of my car. You'd think they'd want me out of here so I don't dissuade potential customers. Disappointed! I have been going to Firestone for years for brakes and oil changes, and have ALWAYS had a great experience. Well, that is as until I tried out this location. I needed a simple oil change,that's all. I have had dozens of these 30 minute changes at firestones. So as usual, I came in first thing in the morning. I asked how long would it take for an oil change, he said 2 hours. I assumed they were just busy, so I asked how long if I make an appt another day, he again said 2 hours. Serious?? What's the purpose of an appt? That is not what I expected from a Firestone. Their employees must be union hourly! Off I drove to the 10 other competitors within a mile range. I've been getting oil changes done by firestone for years with no problem. Yesterday my wife's car started acting up so the first thing I thought of was to bring her to Firestone to get it check out. It ended up being a bad starter. I got a phone call staying it was going to cost $640 for replacing the starter. Being very busy at the time, I didn't go check out the prices online and with the dealer. I assumed that they would charge something fair. After picking up the car today it shows that they charged me $380 for a remanufactured starter. Not even a new 1! Plus labor was almost $200 for 1 hour! I then went to check with the dealership and they were charging $100 over the dealerships prices, which were using new parts. This will be the last time I ever use Firestone and I will be telling everyone I know to avoid using there services. read more

Why didn't I read all the reviews instead of listening to ONE guy that I know who said they did a fine job on his last car...the place is so close to home, I could walk -so I figured, what a deal!? I went in for 4 new tires and an oil change and I also complained of a shaking when braking (they claim to be full service, right?). I requested a balance and alignment be done with the tires and an inspection to check what is causing the shaking. When I got the car back (after the 'visual inspection') they said it was fine and no need to worry ( I also saw they only put 0.2 miles on the odo so they DID NOT TEST DRIVE IT as I requested) - um, no. unacceptable! 1000 miles on the car later (I have a very long commute, so this was like less than 2 weeks) the car shakes at 45-65mph - obvious balance issue... and I almost lost control of the car when braking on 101 and had to downshift and swerve to avoid a collision. UM - what exactly did they do? I'll tell you what they did - they slapped some crappy tires on there and did the oil change - oh, dare I forget to mention they got GREASE and FILTH all over my grey leather interior?! I am SOOOO PISSED OFF. I ended up taking my car to the Dealership to get this all sorted out. So, after their inspection, road test and diagnostic - yep, 2 warped rotors (which I told them I thought it was) and 4 completely misbalanced tires (yeah, you can't just slap a wheel weigh on there, boys...) I'm chalking this up to a $688 lesson learned at this Firestone - and you can bet that I will tell everyone I know not to trust their vehicles to this hack of a shop. read more

The customer service agent's name was Mike, so ask for him if you're trying Firestone's services. He's polite and calm. Avoid this place. No knowledge except for how to charge customers. They will bill you and do nothing to help you. Avoid them at all costs. I called in ahead of time with a dead engine and asked if they could help me. I told them what type of car it was and what the symptoms were. They told me to bring the car in. I had the car towed to their shop (not cheap). They gave me no information for hours (typical of most places). After about 6 hours they told me that they didn't know what was wrong with the car and that they didn't have the expertise to fix it. They charged me $149 for this "work". First of all, I want to let you know I am giving this place one star because there are no provisions to give it a zero or less. I would really advise everyone not to even come near this place. I was recovering from surgery and could not do a spark plug change myself so I decided to try them since they were nearby. I got there and told a service wriiter what I wanted. I was told that to change the 6 spark plugs was going to be over $350.00! NowThe plugs I wanted were the Iridium ones and cost ~$15 each so that's about $90. I asked why it will cost $260.00 to remove and replace 6 spark plugs then I was told that "Oh, well we also do a gas line flush and a gas filter replacement." If I did not question the amount, they would not have said anything. Since I declined the flush and filter replacement, the price went down to about $250. This is reasonable figuring on about 1 hour labor,. However, the service writer starts giving me attitude, asking why did I want to replace the spark plugs, when did I do it last, etc. I finally told him to just do it because I want it done. Then I asked how much it would be to replace the spark plug wires too. I was told $258. This would include the set of Motorcraft wires at $99/set ($53/set at O'rielly's) and labor. I mentioned I have the wire set already, I just need it installed. I was told they will not install my set, I have to use the Motorcraft ones they sell. Not even taking the overpriced wire set into account, to pull 6 wires of which the other ends are already pulled to replace the spark plug anyway, was going cost about $150. This is a ridiculously high price and downright rip off. Bottom line, I got the plugs changed since I can't do it for a while and got the heck out of there, never to return again. Melinda was phenomenal!! I realized that Sunday night that my tire was flattening due to a nail and thought "oh great how am I going to get this fixed before work on a holiday weekend?" Most places were closed but I found this location. I needed all my tires done as well but they didn't have them in stock. Melinda called her husband to get them and bring them to the shop!! Few hours later I was good to go and can make it to work tomorrow. I work in healthcare and calling out is not an option during these times. Thank you Melinda for impeccable customer service!!! I walked into this Firestone looking to get my alignment done and I paid lifetime for it, which was about 2 years ago(same store). I didn't make an appointment so I walked in to see if they have time. The person at the desk said they're really busy and has time today... which was fine. He said you need to make an appointment for this, so then I asked to and he said you can't make an appointment right now. Try coming in tomorrow morning to see if there's time, but no guaranteed. Or try next week in the morning. Based on my experience, he didn't want to help me and trying to give me the run around. Funny how I got treated different when I was here before to pay for my alignment, i still had to wait but was fixed the same day. I'm shocked this place has such bad reviews too. Maybe the staff has gotten better over time or maybe they took a peak at yelp and decided to spruce their personalities up (although I asked them if they have checked out yelp and they said they stay away from here!). It's not the greatest place on earth, but it's not the worst. Although the reviews are low, there are TONS of people coming here. Had to go in for 4 new tires. Sad times since there goes hundreds of dollars. They went over all my options clearly, they of course have to offer you all the deals, and I saved 10% by applying for the card which I'll never use but hope to get coupons. The workers were efficient and "young" so it was more down to earth in my opinion. I had tons of questions since I know nothing about cars and they patiently answered all of them even when I had to call someone for advice. In the end, it was expensive but these tires better last me another 4 years like the last. Pray that no glass or screws will screw up my tires!! It was suppose to take 3 hours but it ended up taking 4.5 which was a bit annoying to just wait around. Then I ended up calling THEM and they said it's been ready. UH, HELLLOO??? I'm not a psychic!! Don't go there to buy tires. They give you POS tires for rip off prices. You are better off shopping at http://www.tirerack.com/, have the tire shipped to you, then have your local store (such as this one) put it in. Even with the installation fee it's worth while. However, I go to Firestone for my tire alignments. A while back I paid $150 and purchased a life time tire alignment policy for my Honda. Once you pay that $150, you can have your alignment done whenever you want for free. I diligently get it done every 6 months just because 1) I can and 2) I have a long commute (good alignment = better fuel economy and longer tire life). read more

I bought the tires they recommended in the paper they gave me and ended up the wrong size. Very untimely flat tire at 8am ON MY BIRTHDAY, ugh! Plans for the day were to head to Big Sur and I was so worried my flat tire wouldn't be repaired in time considering my go to tire place, Costco, wasn't opening until 10. I made a quick call to Firestone and they said they could have my tires ready and car inspection complete by noon! Perfect! Check in wasn't until 4 in Big Sur anyway. Best part, I originally walked in insisting I needed all four tires replaced, when I got the call back with the estimate they told me I only needed two replaced. Not bad! I was driving and my check engine came on, so I pulled in to this place since it was the first place I seen too bad O'Reilly or any other non-repair shop can't scan trouble codes in wonderful California. I ask the guy how much would it cost to check what codes my car was throwing? He tells me 1 Hour of labor. Seriously 1 hour for a something that wouldn't even take 5 minutes to get a scanner, plug it in and press a button, wait a few seconds and tell me the codes. I told him that was a joke and drove across the street to O'Reilly and just bought a scanner that was on sale that was about $50-60, when they were trying to charge me $80+. read more

I agree with a prior poster who said that if there were negative ratings to give, this would be the place to give them. I was so frustrated with the "service" I received from this establishment that I opened a complaint with the BBB; nothing was resolved and the nightmare still continues. I went to Firestone to have an alternator replaced. Yes, Mike at the front desk is very personable, but he wasn't my mechanic so it's meaningless in the long run. I was advised to replace the serpentine belt because it was worn. I agreed, and that was the wrong thing to do - several weeks of driving around with a screaming banshee of a vehicle, being told by Firestone staff that I needed to "think positive," and "there is no noise," I discovered on my own that they had installed the incorrect belt. It was too short so they threaded it onto the pulleys incorrectly to make it fit. I found out about it when the belt flew off. I could have died. Luckily I was parked at the time. The belt was replaced with the correct one (not by Firestone). Now I have taken my vehicle in to another mechanic for a tune-up - and I'm being advised to replace the belt and tensioner. AGAIN. I think there was permanent damage to the pulleys, the timing of all the functions, and I've had to pay three times now for a belt? This place sucks as much as any place can. DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THEM. They treated this paying customer like a non-entity, screwed up my vehicle, and didn't care to resolve the problem at all. The BBB still gives them an A+ rating and I don't trust the BBB any more, they're all in bed with each other. And Firestone doesn't care about your life. They just want your money and for you to shut up about it. read more
