Yesterday, I was headed to Coyote Point to catch some wind. I get to the lot and sure enough, my slow leak became much faster. I had to bail on the wind, and headed back up 101 to find a tire repair shop swiftly. Of course, it was like 5:00 PM. And, there was a traffic accident on 101 near the airport. So, I pull off near Millbrae and head to El Camino Real. There are lots of shops on that drag. I stop in at one tire store, but they had just sent all their guys home. They did fill up my tire with air and suggested I try the Firestone just up the street. Sure enough, about 20 mins before closing, the two guys at the shop (Luis and Josh) said, sure, they were open and could fix me up. I go to the McDs cause I was starving, and they call me. Locking nut was stripped. No way to take off the tire. Long story short, as I was headed back down the street to catch BART home, they call me. "We got it off. We are fixing your tires right now. Come on back." Theses guys rock. Stayed late to get the job done! Now that's service. read more

One star: what kind of "complete auto care" service includes throwing a rod after leaving and driving less than a quarter of a mile?!

The WORST customer service I have EVER had!!! I went to get an oil change and was the first one to show up when they opened shop at 7 o'clock this morning. I asked about the special that's posted on the front desk (for $10, you get tire rotation, visual inspection, and fluid top-off). The manager said it was going to take 1.5 hours to get it done. I said that it was fine, and I informed him that I would like to wait at their shop so I can continue on my way to work. After I said I would wait there, he said it was actually going to be done by 9:15 am (so now, it's going to take 2.25 hours). Clearly, he did not want me to be there. Then when he printed out my receipt, I noticed that it did not include tire rotation or anything else other than oil change. I asked and he said: "You are making it extremely difficult. You are making it extremely difficult right now. Why don't you tell me what you want and get it over with." The guy obviously didn't hear/understand me right, or he simply forgot to select in the system that I was getting the special. Instead of APOLOGIZING, he started talking to me like I was an idiot who doesn't know what he wants....Needless to say, I asked for the keys back and continued on my way to work..... read more

This is my first time going to a Firestone, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. The guy who's running the show, Victor, is doing the work of three people as of now and he could definitely use some extra hands in there. But he manages to keep things together and he was able to give me an honest estimate of when my car will be available. For example, he told me around 4pm it would be all done and I got a call around 4:02pm. I dropped the car off around 9am, so it did take a little while to get the job done, but he was honest about that and that's what important to me. I got some new tires and an alignment, and so far my car drives smooth and safely. Thank you for everything Victor! read more

Went to the Millbrae Firestone yesterday. .. while waiting in line... there was only one guy, Victor, behind the counter doing literally EVERYTHING all at once! Picture this: The phone was ringing off the hook, 8+ ppl in line, one guy was having issues with his gift card, follow up phone calls being made, answering questions, booking appts, assigning work orders, and overhead confirmations for different approvals for work... this guy was a one man show! He was so calm and cool... even making the customers waiting in line laugh with his wit and charm. It was great. He really needs to be commended on his ability to multi task like nobody's business. Such a great experience. It was a stressful Sunday because I was told by another car shop I had a nail in my tire. Being that it's Sunday, no tire shops were open and I was scared it would pop driving to work on Monday. I finally found a shop open which was Firestone and headed straight there. They told me there was an hour wait and after 20 minutes they came out and told me they checked it and the nail actually didn't go through and there was no hole! It was a relief, but their customer service is really what wowed me! They handed me my keys and free of charge I left. No labor fee or service fee and no new tire made for a great experience. The front desk guy was helpful and friendly. Definitely come here for all of your tire needs! read more

Brought my truck in for a brake service. Intial quote was 200+ change. For pads and rotors resurvice. After inspection they told me my front brakes were metal to metal, and they couldn't resurvice my rotors. Said it would cost 540.00+ to fix it. I called bs. Went to oriellys across the street. Bought rotors and pads for 100.00+ change. Went to my friend's shop where we changed out the brake pads and rotors. My pads were no where near metal to metal as Firestone rep said. My brakes were due for a change as the sensor was contacting it. But I still had time. Watch out for over sell. Ask them to prove their findings. read more

I've never had an issue with their maintenance work done on my car, but don't expect great customer service from this place. They're always understaffed and slow. Every time you go in (even with an appointment) you'd have to wait 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledges you and checks the car in... same thing with pick-up. If you're looking for a quick service, look elsewhere. read more

Bottom line: they were competent and not skeezy, and I got what I needed reasonably quickly. However, be prepared for upsell attempts! There were only 2 people working when I came in with a flat tire on a rainy weekend. They needed a few hours to get a new tire ready, and they would not negotiate on the price at all. I think I overpaid by about $20 for one tire. They also tried to upsell me a couple different ways. First they wanted me to replace all 4 tires, not just one. Umm, no, thanks, they'll be fine for another 45K miles at least. Then they wanted me to buy a "nail warranty" on all tires - including the 3 that were factory original - so that I'd get "free tires" if I got a flat again. I declined - and then they tried to tell me I needed the alignment checked, even though we had previously established that I didn't hit the curb and that my car was so low-mileage an alignment check wasn't in the cards. I was able to shut down each of these sales jobs on the first try, but it was annoying. read more

0 stars for this business. I tried several time to have my car service at this location. Most of the time they are pretty busy. So I made an online appointment for a front end alignment on my car . I make it a week in advance for 1:00pm, Tuesday Aug 22. I received a call from the cashier Hugh. He said that if i came in at 1:00 pm, it wouldn't be ready till 4 or 5:00pm?? I ask why so long?? It just a front end alignment. I just got new tires and i have a life time warranty for my front end alignment for the car. He said he would call me back. I never received a call back from Mr Hugh. I went by on Saturday before my appointment to find out why it take so long to get an alignment. The cashier/mechanic explain that it gets busy. sometime they over book. I ask if they could do my alignment on that Saturday. They weren't busy at the time. But the mechanic said the parts for the alignments were out of stock. I showed up at my appointment time on Aug 22 @ 1:00 pm. Greeted by cashier Hugh.He promptly told me that my car would not be ready till 5:00pm. I explained that I had an appointment. I explain to Mr Hugh, that I have had alignment in Hayward and Daly City in an hour with an appointment. He just said sorry. That was the best he could do. P.S. Just made an appointment with the Daly City Firestone. The can get it done in an hour with and appointment. I will also complain to corporate. They don't care either. That why i brought my tire across the street at America's Tires . Which I will probably do with my other two cars. read more

I wish I could rate this place 0 stars. I brought my car in just to get an oil change, and was called about fixing a few things including a turn signal handle that was broken. I told them I was aware of the handle and went to pick up my car. After I had signed everything and got my keys. I drove out of the parking lot and found that the turn signal lever was almost touching the steering wheel, and was hitting my hand as I turned. So I went back in, they told me that it looked broken before so they never even touched it. The assistant manager had the tech look at it, and he moved it around for 3 mins then went back in the office said something to the manager, then went back to another car. I had to go back in to ask what was happening, and the assistant asked " did he get it fixed for you?" At this point I started to get upset. Needless to say they didn't do much to fix it, and told me it needs a whole new handle, and that I had to pay for it. Then the manager helped me, and he was nice but could still not do much and gave me the district office number. I left a message. Then I went to another "REAL" Mechanic, he fixed it in 2 mins and didn't charge me. I am going back to that garage, and NOT Firestone. Avoid this place. read more

Went to this dealership to have my air conditioning checked with a coupon for $19.95. Well after spending approximately $200.00 here to have my system recharged I was told there were no problems or leaks found. Within 3 months of this service my A/C was almost blowing warm air. I decided to buy a product called Red Angel Leak Stop and hired another company to inject this into my system and 6 months later my air is still ice cold. Also the wait time to have the service writer even call me to the counter was 30 minutes and there was only one other customer in the dealership. Wow! read more

I took my Mini Cooper to this Firestone because the one I usually go is close to work in San Rafael and I was due with my 5000 miles tire rotation. They called me saying my brakes needed to be changed and so I gave them the ok. They charged me 1200 total (oil change, rotors and pads, tire rotation even if it was supposed to be free). The rear brake sensor wasn't connected and was noticebly hanging off the rear left wheel. I had to take the car in one more time also to later find out that the sensor still wasn't working (I couldn't reset my brake check light but only the oil change check light) and on top of that the brakes were now squeaking like crazy. After few days i decided to hurt myself even more and I talked to the Firestone guys I usually go to give me a quote for a full brake and rotors change...400 to 600 with the most expensive brakes. That's an indication of how honest or professional these guys are. I wouldn't recommend them at all, and if you really need a brake change in the area, go to the next door Kragens auto parts, buy them there and have them installed by the guy they recommend. You'll get a better job for a much better price! read more

Pathetic. I took a fleet vehicle in on THURSDAY AFTERNOON to change the front brake pads and an oil change. They told me to leave it there and they would get it done Saturday. They were busy. Monday afternoon, they call me to tell me they didn't get the correct part, and that it would be one more day, Tuesday. Whaaaat?! Monday, when they called, it was already FIVE DAYS. Six days to change the brake pads and oil? And they still couldn't get it done? So now I have to pick-up the vehicle, use it for the night (I work graveyard), and then drop it off again in the morning...only to have to pick it up AGAIN Tuesday afternoon. And when I went to pick it up, they wanted me to sign the paperwork stating ALL the work had been done. But it hadn't. I still need to drop it back off. So I am pretty ticked-off. (What a waste of my time). And they charged my company for all 4 pads and rotors to be replaced on the vehicle. I know for a fact that this did not need to be done. Oh yea...while looking over the paperwork I signed...THEY NEVER DID THE OIL CHANGE. Arghhhhhhhhhh ! All I wanted was to change the brake pads, and an oil change. Poor service. And they totally oversell products and charge for work that is not needed. They have done this to me in the past as well. (Trashed an electrical harness while trying to repair it. Tried telling us it needed some extensive work. We said "NO WAY". Took it to another shop, and found it was something they had done during the connections that needed repaired). Last time I take it here. Will drive a little further, even if it is an inconvenience. read more

He originally told me it would cost less and thats whyi i brought my vehicle in. Would I have known this would have been a bait and switch I would have never brought my vehicle here. read more

I came in for a flat tire repair after being told the wait would be 5 hrs at Costco. Despite every stall being filled with other customers Jose had me in and out in under 20 min free of charge. I came in to do a warranty claim on a tire balance and rotate that I got done out of state and the guy at the front counter was good and took care of me and at the end the tech who looked at my truck and explained in detailed that my rear pads where almost gone,I already knew this info without telling them.So I was VERY impressed of his knowledge at a place like Firestone. A big thanks to Jose!!! I used to go to this location for many years b/c Hugh (Managing Partner) is very down to earth in customer service willing to go above and beyond to satisfy his customers. They do the job correctly the first time around and very competitive in pricing. I moved across the bay 10 years ago which made it very hard to continue my cars service needs here in Millbrea. I still haven't found a Firestone in Hayward that meets the customers service I've grown used to at Hugh's place. Moving forward to today 8/16/15 I went to my local Firestone to get an oil change, tire rotation, replace one fog light bulb. The man at the counter I believe his name was David tried to tell me to replace a little fog bulb would be $280.00 in labor. He said we have to remove the bumper etc. I replied no you don't you just have to unscrew the two screws holding the bottom cover and slide your arm up the side and the fog light is right there you could see step-by-step on YouTube for replacement. He still said no this is what the system showing. Naturally I got upset and I called Firestone in Millbrae. I spoke with José, I asked him the same question the cost to replace the fog lamp gave him my vehicle information and he came back with it only costing labor included $27.75. I looked at David and told him that I am corresponding with Firestone in Millbrae and they said it's only $27.75 he was mumbling assembly as he looked at the monitor. I told him we are not replacing an assembly we are just replacing the bulb and he told me it was the same thing. I gave him the cost another Firestone gave me he realized he was looking up the wrong part. While I was there I overheard the mechanics question him about parts that were ordered and delivered for another vehicle that were incorrectly ordered. Another tech told him work order says replace front and rear the asked why were they replacing the front of a car when it was still good the back was the only one leaking. Hearing this conversation and getting a very high incorrect cost for labor for a $9.00 bulb. l I lost my confidence with this guy and decided I will not get my car serviced here. I called Jose at Firestone Millbrea explained my frustration and anger told him I'm coming see him. He said come over I'll take care of you. When I arrived after having to cross the bridge for good customer service I was not in a great mood. Hugh was off today but dealing with Jose was just like dealing with Hugh. He managed to calm me down and provided exceptional customer service. I knew within the next six months or so I'm going to need new tires. Since I was there already I ask Jose to explain the differences in the tires and maybe instead of rotating my tires I'll buy new ones. He explained them to me and showed me a video of the DriveGuard tires which you could drive up to 50 miles at 55 mph on a flat sold me. I made a wise investment b/c of Jose and b/c Hugh was off I didn't notice any difference in the Custmer service. Jose made me feel important as a customer and went above and beyond what I expected from anyone other than Hugh the Managing Partner. I consider Jose as my new Little Hugh!! Great job Jose you saved a lifelong Firestone customer and made a great sale for the company today. Gotta love yelp. I went back today to get my tire balance checked; I've noticed a vibration at highway speeds lately that wasn't present on my summer tires. One of the original tires that I got form Firestone has since been replaced at another shop due to road damage. So I was expecting to get three tires checked for free (warranty). Josh came by and remembered me and went ahead and had them check the 4th tire under the warranty too. It was busy today so I had to leave my car for a couple hours, but no big deal. The fact that Josh remembered me after a year is quite impressive, you can tell he cares about customer satisfaction. Lost a star since they estimated 2 hours to finish the tire balancing and it took 5 hours. read more

One is being gracious. This was my go to location for over 20 years. Once Hugh retired and the entire staff turned over, the place went to hell. Poor service, lackadaisical employees who act as if they are doing you a favor. Lost our keys and had us wait over an hour while they tried to locate them. Barely an apology when they mysteriously showed up! Complaints sent directly to the location went unanswered so obviously they don"t care, which is reflected in their work. Last weekend I had a complete brake job on my Nissan Frontier. The front discs were warped and because of that were very chattery while braking. The Firestone service advisor was very polite and explained the process clearly and extended me Firestone's anniversary discount for my brake job. They replaced my front discs and bled the brake lines and returned my truck the same day without any grease stains anywhere and they didn't attempt to up sell me on unnecessary parts or service to my brakes. Based on my experience, I would recommend this business. read more

Our tire pressure was low on one tire. We had already stopped to add air but the warning light came on again after some miles on the freeway. We stopped at Firestone and they didn't even offer to help us add air and actually said they would not repair the tire. Thanks for nothing! Jose S... is a great service person who helped me with a smile. My tire light came on and after Firestone inflated alll four tires, the light still came on. I called Jose and he told me that it would take awhile for the lights to go off. The next day it still did not turned off, I brought the car to Jose and he personally took care of it, gave me a test drive to show that it remained off. Good service. Last week I made an appt to have my tires rotated and balanced since I bought my tires there. I was told that it would take a week. I called Jose on Sunday and he said to bring it in the same day. I had it done within 30 minutes. Not all service managers at Firestone are good, but Jose is great. read more

What a great guy! I was on 280 and picked up a huge rock in the outer tread of my tire. Went to Firestone and talked with Jose. He told me that the tire was not repairable and that I needed an identical tire due to the make of my car. He could order one but it would take a day. He referred me to another shop in San Mateo. Went in to buy some tires that I needed right away, on a Sunday, and lucky for me they were opened. First went to Costco and their prices were way higher and they didn't even have what I wanted in stock. Well lucky for me cause I saved by going to Firestone, plus got a $60 reward on top of the lower price. The place is empty no cars in the service bays. when next door at the other tire place there is 20 people in line and all bays are full. The man behind the counter tells me it will be a two plus hour wait to plug a simple nail in the tire because they have to do a full inspection??? Now I see why they aren't busy and the yelp reviews are poor. read more
