The Haledon Firestone Really went down hill !! I made an early morning appt. for an oil change. I was told on the phone it would not take long. When I got there they told me about 1-1/2 hours. Once they knew I was not waiting for the car it would be ready by 3pm. 4 pm the car was still not done !!!!!!! I took the car back home undone. I no longer trusted them to do the work. Like other reviews.....Be careful of PRICE-GOUGING do yourself a favor and shop around.....heard some knocking & grinding from my front left tire figured it was brakes....after a full diagnosis which took 4-5 hrs grateful there was a DD near-by.... I was told both front tires needed new wheel bearings and quoted $1200....I told them that was out of my price range and asked them to just do the driver's side tire....after an additional 3 hrs they charged me almost $600 for the one tire but turns out they fixed my passenger side wheel I assume to insure I return and spend more money. A few weeks later I went to a different garage right down the street from Firestone and they did the correct wheel bearing plus all four brake pads and rotors for a total of $800 I'm not going to mention any names at Firestone I'm sure the workers are following orders but shame on them for taking advantage of ppl who don't know any better or can't fix it themselves....I understand its a business but im sure we can be better to folks read more

Brought my car in for oil change & a whining noise that was clearly a steering pump fluid (or steering pump mechanics) issue. Dropped it off and asked for a quote - expecting $400 tops (norm for a steering pump repair). Got a call from the manager, and they quoted me over $2,000 to fix it. Didn't even want to hear his pitch so told him "no thanks - just the oil change." The manager immediately pivoted to "you really need this repair and we can provide financing options..." "no, just the oil change." He kept pushing on me to consider financing the repair if I couldn't afford it. Pick up my car, and the whining noise was gone. It didn't even need a steering pump fix, it just needed fluid. They tried to rip me of $2,000 for something that was already fixed and I have no doubt they'll try todo it to you to. Firestone's National Corporate should investigate the owners/managers at this store and push some ethics training. Updating: So the repair they wanted to charge me $2,000 for was wrong - it wouldn't have fixed my car - and I would have had to go to another shop to get it fixed after wasting money here. Another shop found a hose leak somewhere else in the power steering pump line and are fixing it for $300 - which includes the cost to assess the vehicle and find the leak. read more

I went there to get my Valve stem replaced and this place CHARGED me $127 I got ripped off. I am just angry not about their quality of work I am just angry about how they took my hard earned money for ten minutes of work. I found that it would cost at the most $30. I found this article, read what it says: "from carsdirect." Replacing or repairing a tire valve is inexpensive, quick and easy. Having the work done at a shop could cost you $20 to $30 but you can do it yourself in under 10 minutes of time and for less than $5. read more

First time and last! I came to fix a flat tire and this guy Larry who is supposed to help me was being an asshole! Rude and no kind at all! My tire was ready and he didn't tell me anything, he let me waiting more and more time.. At the end they charge me $21!!!! I'm very unsatisfied!!! Bad service and over priced!!! read more

Had a side-wall blow out and called these guys to ask if I could get the car towed to their parking lot, so I could bring in my 4 winter tires for installation the next morning. When I got there in the morning they told me they don't do standard tire switch-out for winter. They would only install their new tires. Not professional. read more

I ordered tires. Got a Phone Call when they had arrived. Once I was there.. I got a professional service. From the very courteous and friendly people there. And they knew what they were doing! I even got my tires and wheels washed and Tire Shined. On top of the balancing and alignment that they did.. A+ all the way.. Recommend! read more

I usually just come here to do some basic maintenance (tires, oil changes, etc). The staff is very friendly and honest. They try to help out as much as possible. Kassandra is always friendly on the phone, and gives a genuine experience every time I'm in. There is a gentleman that works there as well (I want to say Frank?)who does a great job as well. read more

I was sitting at the light on Haledon Ave. last Wednesday and my car started overheating. I got the car off the road as fast as I could and ended up in the Firestone parking lot. One of the employees (I believe it was Frank) stopped what he was doing and took the time to come out to the parking lot, look at my car, and put in enough coolant to allow me to get to where I was going. I really appreciate someone taking the time to help me like that and will definitely give them my business if the opportunity comes up. read more

This is the first time I am writing a review of anything online. Not only are they expensive, but on top of it, they want you to pay for things that don't need fixing. My mother went to get her brake pads changed, and they changed parts that didn't even need to be changed upon inspection of the old parts. They could not even explain themselves as to why they did it. It was only after we made a scene that they lowered cost. I understand this is a business - profit is important, but have some decency. No one is walking around with an extra $800 in their pockets. People should not have to make a scene to be treated well and not be taken advantage of. Your employees also wont have to use that passive aggressive customer service if they don't have to rip people off for a living. Your reputation will also be better, and you would get more customers. I was warned by everyone I know not to come here; I wish I listened, but it was the only place nearby that was open on Sunday. I would rather wait and be without a car then go to Firestone. The money spent and frustration of feeling taken advantage of is not worth it. I will never come back here and tell everyone I know not to come here either. read more

First and last time! I have been a returning customer at Firestone, Princeton area for their nice and reasonably priced service. Recently I moved here and visited this firestone for a "Service Engine Soon" light was on. I knew the reason and told them already where the problem is as someone already diagnosed for me and explained me the code: P0447. However, firestone said, they still want to diagnose the car. I said okay and left my car there. When I got a call, Frank told me they will have to replace the vapor valve which is $200 bucks plus service and labor cost extra totaling $394. It was wayyyyy high then my expectation. When I told him that if I get the valve for you, can you fix it...because the valve actually costs $60 - $70 bucks. He denied giving me a wired example "if you go to a restaurant and give them a piece of meat and ask to cook...will they?" I had no choice so had to give a go ahead. Here is the itemized bill.... Engine Diagnostic Service : $89.99 (why the hell they diagnosed when I already pointed where the issue is?) Vapor Canister Valve : $219.99 (Can you believe this???) Replace valve labor : $50.40 with some tax and supplies, it was $394.62!!! I'll tell my friends not to go there for sure. read more

Bunch of crooks. Firestone only appealed to me because they're open late, and it works with my work schedule. That appeal does not counterbalance how badly they try to rip you off. They make it seem like you need all this extra unnecessary crap done to fix your car. I told them I had a spark plug misfire and without even checking out my car first to confirm that was in fact the problem, they wanted to charge me $460.35 for something that cost me $70 elsewhere. The service was great, I came in for an alignment at 3PM on a Saturday and left at 3:45PM with my car completed. Everyone was nice and pleasant to deal with. I don't know if it was because I did the work on my car, but no one tried to up-sell any services or products to me. The only problem I had was with the technician. They did not take care as to not get grease everywhere. My floor mat is stained from their boots, and the side of my door and door handle were covered in grease. I was able to remove the grease from the door and handle, but not the floor mat. I thought they were supposed to put paper mats in to prevent this? I wouldn't let this stop you from coming here, but I only have an experience with an alignment, as I do all the work on my car myself. read more
