I've been a regular at this Valvoline for over 10 years but yesterday (06-15-24) I am almost sure…read morewas my last visit. I brought in my 2015 Kia Sportage which just recently had a new engine put into it by my local Kia Dealer. I had been to this Valvoline location 2 previous times for oil changes with the same exact vehicle after the replacement engine. To my surprise, the tech that was checking under the hood said that the oil was "Sludgy". That's practically impossible on an a new engine that has 6000 miles with 2 previous oil changes. So I questioned him. He showed me the dipstick that he claimed was sludge. It was not. So I'm trying to figure out why they are doing this. I asked them not to touch the vehicle anymore. After I left, I reached the following conclusions or assumptions: 1- The techs are not properly trained to identify what oil "sludge" is. 2 - Valvoline oil is of unbelievably poor quality and thus sludges up and should no longer be used. Or 3rd (Most likely) they are trying to upsell more expensive oil claiming the vehicle is high mileage (remember - new engine) and they are saying the oil sludgy in an effort to scare me into a more expensive product. Keeping in mind that I told the Valvoline techs that the motor has less than 6,000 miles. I took the vehicle to the dealer and did the oil change there. I asked the service manager to ask the tech working on my car if the oil was indeed sludgy. He basically confirmed what I said before. It's virtually impossible for an engine to have sludgy oil after only 1 year and 6000 miles of service with two previous oil changes. I was lied to in order to sell a more expensive product. To the staff and management at this (and all) Valvoline locations: Guys come on. This is not the way to do business. Please train your staff not to lie to your loyal (10 years) customers. Please give your customers a reason to keep coming back. They likely would have gotten away with upselling me had I not known a thing about how car engines work. In either case, I no longer trust Valvoline. The techs are probably pushed to upsell more expensive products while at the same time lying about the condition of your vehicle in doing so. Little did they know that am very familiar with the mechanics of a vehicle. Buyer beware.

Not sure why all the bad reviews…read more I needed a car battery for my 2014 Hyundai Elantra. After calling Advance Auto Parts & Autozone (both closer to my house) and being told they both only have 1 battery left and its $185-195. Insane! I called Pep Boys. They told me $65 all in with taxes and installed. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Great customer service and honesty all around. Sadly the other 2 places feel the need to lie and over charge. Only 1 battery in stock for one of the most commonly driven cars on the planet? Ha sure. Pep Boys In! Keep running smooth.

He always is polite, knowledgable, and willing to patiently talk through my vehicle reports/diagnostics with me. He recently went out of his way to find a really economical alternator replacement for me (which isn't easy to find). I've also had other great interactions with the employees here, but I'll note that I usually drop off early in the morning or when I'm not in a rush (because they are often busy and there can be lines). Overall though, lines are a sign of regular customers which is a testament in itself. Also, Pep Boys has been easy and quick on replacing any parts under warranty that I've had issues with. I personally would recommend them.

Really great experience here the other day. Was looking for a spot to do some seasonal tire changes…read morefor me (I left my winters on until NOW - shame on me, but just did not have time and thankfully I do not drive much). After reaching out on Yelp, the gents here set me up in the system for a 7:30AM appointment (I was waiting with the car). Amazingly clean waiting room (and super comfy chairs). Free WiFi, free coffee and tea. And incredibly nice service! And the best part? Car was done in an hour (the original thought was 90 minutes) and was done perfectly. My winter tires were bagged up (again, these little touches mean a lot to me) and were really well-placed back inside my car. Great service and these guys will get my business going forward!

I used to trust them, but that changed after I took my daughter's car in for a simple issue that…read moreshould have been an easy fix. When I picked it up, I was told I needed $2,500 worth of other repairs, many of which I'm now questioning. I wasn't confident in their assessment, especially since the original issue they were supposed to fix wasn't actually resolved, and the problem resurfaced shortly after. Then I brought my own car in for new tires, and now three out of the four tire sensors are malfunctioning, which was never an issue before. I've had enough. I've dealt with the manager most of the time, and it's a shame because I used to trust them and spent a lot of money there. It's hard enough to find a reliable mechanic these days, but after this experience, I'm done.
