Two sides of complaint - Bastrop Tire & Automotive This is in response to the review posted by PB from McDade. First we would like to apologize for any inconvenience in regards to the time spent waiting on your car being serviced. It is very hard for us to give a real close time frame for mechanical services provided. There are many things that can occur which are totally out of our control either on your car or the ones we are working that arrived prior to yours. We always strongly encourage people to leave their car with us for the day and we can call you when it is diagnosed or completed. When pressured for a close time frame, we will try to guesstimate as closely as possible. Most times we get it right. Sometimes, we don't.. As for the AC service complaint, you were given the cost before you approved it. You informed us that you had installed a new a/c compressor and you wanted it vacuumed and recharged. That is the service we performed. The manager told you before this was performed he would STRONGLY recommend against this. In order to do it right, the system needed to be taken apart, flushed and a new drier and orfice tube installed with new a/c oil. That is the $525 quote which also includes the 165 you were already going to spend . We have had years of experience which has told us that if you replace just the compressor the odds are that about 95% of the time it will not work because there will always be some kind of "trash" in the system. This was explained in detail to you before the a/c service. You told us you wanted to take your chances and for us to charge it up. That is what we did and the system wouldn't work, most probably because of some kind of obstruction. For the $165.52 (without tax) you approved, these are the services you requested and received: 1 State Inspection $14.50 1 A/C Evac and Recharge $69.99 4 Units PAG Oil $15.96 2.4 lbs of R134A Freon $60.00 Shop supplies $5.07 plus Tax To be honest, I realize we are never in business too long to learn something new. Your kind of service request doesn't come too often. When it does, most people heed our advice and fix it correctly. The lesson learned by us this time is to refuse this kind of work regardless of the insistence of the customer. You would have been unhappy either way but you probably wouldn't have taken the time to write a bad review. read more

I absolutely enjoy my visits with these guys every single time that I have went in for any type of service for our vehicles. When walking into their business I am always acknowledged and greeted with a smile, even from the other customers that are present. Mr. Brian and the crew are knowledgeable, being a female I am showed what the issues are on my vehicle and how they can repair what needs to be repaired...I feel no pressure as a female. I am not surprised with some outstanding amount at the end of the service provided because Mr. Brian keeps me informed on what is needed now on my vehicle and what can wait on my vehicle. The employees are very kind hearted and a joy to be around, what they say will be an hour in servicing my vehicle, only feels like 30 minutes because there is never a boring moment at Bastrop Tire & Automotive. The employees interact with the customers and make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The waiting area is actually very comfortable as well and clean. There is even an area for small children to play and stay occupied. To me that means that they care for their customers, even the smallest of them. I recommend Bastrop Tire & Automotive to anyone that resides in Bastrop or just driving through. Drop in and tell Mr. Brian and the crew "hello", I am sure that they will not mind at all! I was driving from Austin to Houston when, around 6:15 PM, I pulled into Buc-ee's in Bastrop to get gas. That's when I checked my tires and noticed a massive bubble on my front right passenger tire. That's when I realized I would have a blowout on the highway if I didn't get it fixed immediately. I called Firestone and got connected with Zach, who responded with incredible kindness. Even though they were closing for the day and don't usually take walk-ins that late, he said he'd get me in. When I arrived, his team was already waiting and ready. Within three minutes, they had the damaged tire off and a new one installed. The entire process took under 20 minutes. They found a nail and a bubble in my tire. Zach and his team took care of it quickly and professionally. What stood out most was their care and honesty. Zach walked me through my pricing options, and I never felt upsold or taken advantage of. He even offered to answer any future tire questions I might have. They truly went above and beyond, and I felt like a valued customer. I highly recommend Zach and the Firestone team. My Honda Fit is 15 years old and getting ready to break 100,000 miles. (It has been a jewel of a care and I have taken meticulous care of it.) I decided I no longer wanted to drive into Austin to the dealership so I began a search for a local mechanic. Firestone won. I took the car in and they did a bumper to bumper analysis of the car. They thoroughly went over recommended services, answering all questions. I have subsequently been back to Firestone to replace battery and air filters. So far I have been extremely impressed with the service I have received at Firestone. Every person I have spoken to has given me their full, undivided attention - as if I was their only customer. I confidently look forward to having Firestone care for my little Honda Fit as it continues to age! read more

Very friendly, Very knowledgeable. Very fast. They will fix your vehicle right and stand by their work at Bastrop Tire: I had my vehicle fixed at a service department across town at Covert , in less than one month it broke down with exact same problems and after two days of keeping my vehicle was told it would be another two days and was told it was not related and not covered and had to pay for new diagnosis. Had vehicle towed from Covert to Bastrop Tire and had it fixed for half the price in a couple of hours! "Mickey" at Covert was rude and not customer friendly. Will not be going back to Covert anymore and will be spreading the word of my experience at Covert to all of my customers and telling them they should go to Bastrop Tire & Automotive. read more

We have used Bastrop Tire for years. They always assess the problem, call for approval to fix, and then do what they say. We have taken at least 6 vehicles there over the years, and have had nothing but great service. Our daughter's car had road hazard on the tires. She picked up a piece of metal in her tire while travelling which caused a leak. Unfortunately, she didn't have the road hazard paperwork with her. My husband made a call to Bastrop tire to see if they could help. Jeff called the Firestone dealer near our daughter, faxed all the road hazard info to them, and they were waiting on our daughter to arrive. Now that is service! read more

Bob, the manager, is the absolute greatest employee I have ever dealt with when trying to fix my car. He was straightforward with no bs and he got the job done quickly and with precision. This Firestone along with the manager deserves to have all employees get a raise! read more
