My fuel line broke while I was visiting Austin from California, and I chose this Goodyear location because it was open on a Sunday and a national chain. They diagnosed the issue and repaired it two days later since the dealer part wasn't available on Monday (a holiday, Labor Day). When I picked up the car, I noticed a strong gas smell inside. The staff told me it was just residual fuel that needed to burn off and even offered to clean the air ducts, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, about 100 miles outside of Santa Fe, the car broke down and required a tow. A friend's trusted mechanic there discovered that while Goodyear had fixed the flexible part of the fuel line, they bent a solid metal section, causing a new fuel leak. So, their initial repair ended up creating another problem that cost me more time, stress, and money to fix. Disappointing experience overall. read more

Yet again I find another reason why you should stay far away from this location. This Goodyear is ran by a very shady lady named ana and her so called "technicians". I was replacing my air filter when I noticed sand in my air filter box. I wonder how many people have been affected by going to this place, where instead of fixing vehicles they ruin them. I know for a fact she knows what her technicians do when they sabotage people's vehicles. All of the stuff she knows her technicians been doing will soon catch up to her and her "mechanics". This all stems from me telling her 3 thousand dollars is too much to replace the front sway bar links, you can tell they're missing bushings. That complimentary coolant flush, that they knew not to charge me for caused this vehicle to run the worst it's ever did. Had a flat tire and brought my vehicle to this shop. They immediately quoted me $260 for a new tire with protection or $195 without, without even checking if the tire was repairable. When I asked about patching, they said it would take an hour and a half even though there were only two cars in the shop. I decided to get a second opinion and went to Big Brand Tire and Service just down the street. Within 2 minutes, they showed me the damage, on the sidewall, clearly not patchable. They quoted me $117 out the door for a new tire and had me back on the road in 15 minutes. Their shop was busy, but they had more technicians and clearly ran a more efficient, transparent operation. read more

When I picked up my car, it seemed all good until I realized that all they did was rotate my tires and didn't actually fix anything. WORST experience ever. We had an appointment on Tuesday at 10am. There was no communication. We had to call multiple times to ask for an update. They held my car for 3 days and charged me 200$ for "diagnostic". They did not diagnose anything. They told me multiple times there was nothing wrong. I had to tell them what was wrong again, and they came back and told me i was right. I've seen what's wrong with it, with my own eyes. So they charged 200$ for me to diagnose the car myself. We had 3 simple things i needed fixed. All that was done was an oil change. Andy was not helpful at all. He wouldn't even come out and talk to us when we went to pick it up. I never write reviews and I'm very understanding of business. But i am writing my first ever review because that's how awful and unhelpful this place was. Also no one informed of us of how much the diagnostic charge was. We knew exactly what was wrong with the car and were happy to pay for the repairs. 200$ for me to tell them exactly what was wrong and hold my car for 3 days to do absolutely nothing was diabolical of them. I picked up a nail in my tire. I got got AAA to swap out the little tire and then went to Goodyear on 41st to get the tire fixed. I have a bicycle and seldom drive so the tires last on the car a long time. At the shop they kept insisting that the tires were five years old and they couldn't fix them because they were too old, even though they looked fine and passed inspection every year, they just get used about once a week for a mile or so when I do major shopping day. Well, I had things to do so I said fine, replace the front tires because I didn't want to argue and I have had trouble if the front tires don't match, So I left it. He called a couple hours later and said the back tires were old too and it was imperative to change them too and he had a special which would almost double the price. I said no, front tires were enough. When I went to pick up the car I had to wait an hour. They ran it up the lift, and down and made me go out and look at the rear tires which looked fine. And they showed me a code that confirmed they were five years old. But I said no again, paid the invoice and went home. The next shopping trip I opened the trunk to put in groceries and the spare tire had just been tossed into trunk, not tied down, the covers were strewn about. That has to be the sloppiest work I have seen. read more

Unfortunately a completely inept shop. Was here in March and spent over $1k replacing all 4 tires. Shortly thereafter one of the sensors died/stopped being able to be read by the computer, which is weird timing but fine. I bring the car in to replace the one sensor, which they did (took 2 hours), but when I left the car gave me a new error that the "tire pressure monitor was inoperative." Came back and the lady started gaslighting me and treating me like an idiot trying to convince me that all 3 good sensors (plus the new one they just replaced apparently) died at the exact same instant vs accepting the possibility that the tire pressure monitor was inoperative like the car said. Just own your mistake! You obviously did something to mess up the functionality of the computer / monitor. If you owned it instead of patronizing me we could move forward more quickly and efficiently. Moreover, people don't know how to use the computers, there is no sense of urgency / prioritization, and I doubt they even rotated the tires like I asked for. Their alignment machine is also broken. Horrible experience overall and about 4 hours of my Saturday all in. read more

This is a long story, but please bear with me. On Tuesday of last week, I realized my rear passenger tire was flat. The tire would hold air for a few hours, but go flat when left overnight. Tuesday was my day off from work, so I called and asked if I could bring my car in. The staff told me that they were all booked up for the day, but I could bring it in Wednesday morning at 8am. I missed work and brought my car in at 8am on Wednesday. Never did they tell me that they were understaffed or might not get to my car. At 5:20pm (20 minutes after their closing time), they called to inform me that they had only just looked at my car and that they wouldn't be able to fix it until the following day. I was disappointed because I wouldn't have transportation to work, but I agreed out of desperation. On Thursday I received a call around 8:30am stating a laundry list of items my car needed repaired (including something about a "ball joint that is leaking grease all over the place"), totaling to over $2,300. I am a social worker who doesn't have that money to spare, so I asked what could be triaged or prioritized to save costs. The manager actually sounded offended that I would ask for this prioritized list and told me that "it's all urgent and pretty standard for a car of this many miles". I settled with $750 for two new front tires and alignment, and they told me that they "should be able to patch up the back tire (the reason I brought the car in to begin with). When I went to pick up my car at 4:30pm, they told me it had cost less than expected, which I was happy to hear. My total was around $550. I asked if my back tire was able to be repaired, and they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They said they'd "turned it inside out and couldn't find any holes". So I drove my car home, feeling confused by my previously flat tire. Sure enough...the next morning my tire was flat again...and the two brand new front tires were also low on air. I called the manager Chris back and nicely explained that I was disappointed in my service, but wouldn't be bringing my car back. He apologized and said he simply couldn't find any holes. I took my car on Saturday to Costco Tire Center and the staff was appalled by my story. They said there was a CHUNK missing from my rear tire and it took less than 10 seconds for them to find. They also inspected the other issues Goodyear had said were "urgent" and said they could not find even one thing wrong with my car. Nothing was leaking oil or grease and everything looked great. Because Costco doesn't carry Goodyear tires, I had to buy two new tires for the back to balance the vehicle. These two tires only cost $330, compared to the $550 I'd paid just days earlier. I understand businesses are struggling with staffing shortages right now, but the lack of communication and absolute price-gauging are just offensive. Please take your car elsewhere. read more

10/20/2024 Worst experience at a shop with the most over priced gouges, save yourself the trouble and headache and go somewhere else. The people at the front desk will have you waiting days, not explain what's going on, give you excuses that they're short staffed even if you made an appointment with them days prior. I walked in to my appointment expecting to get a quote on the maintenance I requested, I call the next day because I haven't received anything call or email. The lady continues to say that I just walked in and that I didn't have an appointment and starts going on about other things that don't relate to any of the things I mentioned for them to service. Completely just trying to get as much money from you as possible. I live with the promise to my father to make Goodyear as my main and only service center. I have a friend who has a mobile shop but he now lives 28 driving hours away. My dad himself retired from Goodyear in the early 90's after working for it for more than 30 years. I was greeted today be the manager who was hospitable and knowledgeable. I took advantage of Goodyear's 3 Year Alignment program that I got in July 2013. No regrets. I also took advantage of lifetime tire balancing. These two packages are an amazing investment. Their Road Hazard warranty has saved me hundreds of dollars. I had to change a tire a few months ago and I paid a fraction. Their new system now gets you a new tire absolutely free. Kudos. read more

When I questioned it, they said... you know, it's for rags and stuff to clean up spills. Nice try, Goodyear, but no. I have no problem with paying a fee for government-mandated disposal of the old oil, but shop rags for spills are part of the cost of doing business, and don't you *dare* try and pass it along to the customer, with a big mark-up! My grandfather owned his own auto shop and never tacked on extra fees for shop rags. If he told you it'll be $20, then that's what you paid. UPGRADE: It's a 2-star review because they caved in and removed the charge, but how many others have paid it without question? I'm still mad as hell, in case that wasn't obvious. read more

I was escorted immediately to a bay, tires aired, and they even were familiar enough with my car to indicate how the notification light would turn off. Wow! I've been to this Gemini over the years because it's close, and every time, I've hated myself for having gone there. All of the employees look and act as if they wished they were somewhere else, and make you wish it too. The front desk is slow, no smile, hello, or hardly an acknowledgement. I found a nail in my tire and it was on a Sunday when most auto service shops were closed. I googled a tire repair shop that was open, and found Goodyear Auto Service Center offered "If we can repair your tire without replacing it, we'll do it for free.‡" I went there around 1 pm, the shopkeeper told me it might be a wait till 4:30 pm. I chose to wait. After about 1 hour he returned to tell me I needed a new tire because it could not be repaired. Then he quoted me the price for 4 tires despite the tires were all under 30,000 miles. I had a feeling that he was taking me for a sucker because the nail was at about 1/2 between the center and the edge. I took it to Walmart, and for $10 they repaired my tire. Goodyear Auto Service Center is being deceptive in using the "free tire repair" offer to lure the unwary customers to their unnecessary expenses. Beware! read more

It's common knowledge that most mechanic shops try to charge extra for stuff you don't need when they think you don't know a lot about cars... guess it worked for them this time, because I really don't know anything about cars. That's why I come to a mechanic... that I trust will help me because they DO know what's going on. Asked for a basic oil change (expecting they would use normal oil)... I should have checked the receipt when I left but they put in the MOST EXPENSIVE OIL without asking me. Ended up paying a whole bunch of money I didn't sign up for because they took advantage of me. Got there 15 minutes early, was completely ignored and then was told they don't have time to do it. A lot of time wasted because despite how willing I was to make an appointment with them on literally any day, they organized for a time they couldn't handle and ignored me. Ladies in Austin: DO NOT GO TO GOODYEAR TIRES ON 41ST. THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE A LADY. Unbelievable!! I called around, got multiple quotes, including the OTHER Goodyear Tire (on Bee Cave Rd), and they were all much less. Groovy Automotive on 41st-- where I usually go-- laughed when I said how much Goodyear on 41st was going to charge. CJ, the manager at GY, told me it was because I have a "specialty" car, and that it would take 2 hours to do it. Turns out, when I called back 1/2 hour later to tell them NOT to do it, they were already done. Yes, in just 1/2 hour! So the extra-high quote for the 'specialty' issue wasn't necessary. If you're a man, you may be fine (though if you read other reviews here, that's questionable, too). If you are a man, I'd hope you'd choose to give your money to more honest mechanics than these guys. It's absurd that businesses can still be so shortsighted. Reputation has always mattered, but in the age of the internet, why do they think they can get away with this?! As a busy working mom, I usually just accept prices and assume people are nice and not trying to screw you. Don't go here, my experiences have been horrible. I bought an older Toyota, it seemed to be in pretty good shape and the mileage was good for an older car. I took it in to this Goodyear after buying it so they could change the oil and do a tune up. They told me I needed an oil change and to have my coolant system flushed and my fuel line cleaned. They said it looked like someone had already done a tune up recently. I said okay, wanting to get everything in tip top shape. When they brought my car out after working on it, antifreeze was literally pouring out from underneath the car. Noticing my alarmed look, the mechanic said, "oh, don't worry, it's because I just drained the old fluid." This didn't seem right to me, but I didn't know what to say. A few weeks later and my car starts overheating and stalling out. I took it back in to this location and they tell me I need a new radiator. I wondered why no one noticed this when they had worked on it before, but gave them the benefit of the doubt and had them put in the radiator. The car stopped overheating and I thought, okay, the worst is over. Wrong. The very next day after they had put the radiator in, my car started violently shaking and the engine was knocking. It kept acting like it was going to stall out when I was stopped at lights. Thinking they had done something wrong or somehow screwed up, I took it back to this Goodyear. They called and told me that I now needed a tuneup that would cost $500, even though when I first brought in the car they said it didn't need a tuneup. When I pressured the employee, he finally admitted I only needed the wires replaced in order for the car to run well, but said the rest needed to be done soon or I would "have problems." He also wanted to fix another thing on the car that would only be, oh, another 300 bucks! He said part of the tune up would include cleaning my fuel line. I told him they had just done this to my car 3 or 4 weeks prior. I had to make him go back and look at the records. Then he was like, oh, yeah, we did. They were seriously going to charge me for a service that had already been done on my car!! I had them fix the wires only since my car was not going to run otherwise. Thanks to Goodyear, my bank account is now drained and I am barely going to make it until my next paycheck in a week. While I was in the store waiting to pay them and get my car, the lady in front of me was paying and asking if they had done her tire alignment along with the rotation. The employee said yes, but then said, oh wait, no, they didn't do the alignment. He apologized to her and offered a free alignment, but sheesh, are they just pulling this stuff with everyone? They seriously don't seem to know their heads from their behinds, they talk out of both sides of their mouths and I no longer trust them at all. I wish I had gone to another repair place I know of where they are honest. I went here because the location was more convenient and I paid a high price for my laziness. Stay away from this scam of an oil change spot!! I have never had such a bad experience anywhere else. I came in with a $19 oil change appointment from online and walked out paying $53 because they decided for me I needed the $37 oil change. It's okay though because I had a $25 off $50 purchase coupon, so I bought their over priced $25 wiper blades to get the discount. I signed a receipt for $42 and waited an hour. After my oil change was done they told me the computer was wrong and it would be $35 for the wiper blades. I couldn't cancel my order cause the oil change was done. I also couldn't cancel the wiper blades cause then I'd lose the coupon deal. When I asked to speak to a manager I got yelled at. The customer service here is atrocious and I HIGHLY recommend you take your business elsewhere. EDIT: After I left the business having written this review, the manager called me, harassed me, and rudely tried to get me to take my review down.
