    Reuben
    Wessrick H.

Excellent customer service. We were seated immediately!! I ordered the Reuben with a side of Cole slaw. This is the best Reuben I've had in the Twin Cities. Oh man I could eat the Cole slaw by it self. My wife had the fish tacos that were magnificent! Fireside is tough and definitely provide competition to some of the other places here Rosemount and the Twin Cities. I love the sports bar vibe. A lovely place to have lunch or dinner.

    Fried chicken sandwich

After hearing positive experiences at this restaurant, I found myself in the area and finally tried it out. Glad I did, because everything was excellent. I tried a slice of my friend's buffalo chicken pizza and ordered a fried chicken sandwich and onion rings. This was one of the best friend sandwiches I've had. It was super crunchy and fried to perfection - not greasy like some places serve. It wasn't dipped in sauce, but I ordered a side or ranch to enjoy with it. Will definitely be back. There are a lot of Asian inspired dishes that caught my eye as well. Our server was attentive and informed us about the menu and her favorite choices. She also mentioned she enjoys their food when she's off the clock. You know it's good! I've never seen a lobster catching machine, but they have that if you want to try your chances at a future dinner. They have pull tabs and a nice bar area at the entrance. Built and decorated to feel like a cabin/lodge experience.

A colleague had told me about how great this place was back in March. So good that she went back 3 times in one week-- I knew I had to try it. Last night a friend and I had dinner here around 8:00pm-ish. Restaurant was quiet. Our server was friendly and attentive. I informed her we'd never been here before and asked if she had any recommendations which she did and she even shared when she isn't working she comes here to eat. Lots to pick from on the menu. I ended up going with the Buffalo chicken pizza. Very flavorful and cooked just right. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is tucked away in like a strip mall..... hidden little gem. I appreciate how they offer a rewards program. Nice job, Fireside. I will definitely be back. I had my eye on the fried/grilled chicken sandwich, fish tacos, and butter coffee cake.

    Mushroom Gnocchi with shrimp
    Kathleen K.

We used to come here all of the time. So many bad experiences kept me away for several years. This visit I went solo for lunch. The menu has been updated. Mostly burgers and pizza with some meals, pastas and salads. A newer item is the Mushroom Gnocchi (I added shrimp). The gnocchi itself was very good and homemade. The mushrooms were fresh and had good flavor. Six delightful, nice sized shrimp were a great add-on. But all of that is swimming in way too much sauce. At least twice as much as necessary. Service is almost non-existent. There weren't many diners at lunch but everything was slow. Ten minutes to order, 25 minutes for food and no check. I had to go to the stand to pay. Staff were standing around talking.

This week's takeout was from Fireside in Rosemount. This has been a common hangout for us after movies. Their convenient location, lots of TVs and a next door hockey rink make it a good sports hangout. Our take out was lettuce wraps, chicken bacon ranch wrap, and Parmesan crusted walleye. I didn't get a pic of the walleye because daughter refused to put the nice steamed broccoli on her plate and the pic needed some color :-). I have some excellent leftover steamed broccoli now. I had the lettuce wraps. I liked how they kept the parts separate so the chicken marinaded in the sauce and the crispy topping stayed crisp until I got home. Everything was good. Traveled well and stayed hot.

Had us seated quickly and got drinks out pretty quickly. During this dinner I drank a Cherry Manhattan and ate Cajun Bourbon pasta. I typically love a Manhattan but I wasn't impressed with this Cherry Manhattan. It seemed like it was pure whisky and a drop of sweet Vermouth. The ratio of the cocktail was definitely all wrong. Good thing I like straight whiskey I guess. The Cajun Bourbon pasta was good, but I wouldn't venture to say great. It was overly creamy and just didn't pack any spice that you'd expect to be associated with Cajun. Overall it just lacked a richness in flavor. I would still recommend this spot despite food and drink being average. Barley and Vine had a beautiful location with some magnificent wood working that is a feast for the eyes. Additionally they bring in live music on Saturdays so that adds some enjoyment if you appreciate loud live music. 4/5 due to these many factors mentioned.

The queso and toppings were spread out over all the chips so there weren't a bunch of chips at the bottom that had no queso or toppings on it. I had the snack size of the Golden BBQ bone-in wings. The brisket poutine was pretty solid as well. There were definitely some beautiful cheese pulls involved when pullling apart the fry's. I wouldn't have minded a little more gravy, but still this dish was still pretty good. For my beverage I had the You're my boy blue beverage which is a bourbon, agave, blueberry and lemonade drink. It was tasty and the blueberry really stood out. Lastly, for the entree I had the anytime monte which is their take on a Monte Cristo sandwich. I love this thing wit a passion. Delicious French toast bread with fried ham and bacon and cheese inside. I then slathered it in the jalapeño strawberry jam which makes this sandwich complete. I asked for the sandwich with Fries and let me tell you, they know what they're doing with potatoes. Unbelievably crispy, double battered double fried fry's. So good! I think that this restaurant has wonderful staff, wonderful food, and the one thing it's maybe missing is the interior design is a bit dreary. You can add on cashews and avocado. The avocado slices were so thick and fresh. The wonton strips were some of the best I've had -- so light and crispy. The thai peanut sauce on the chicken was fantastic and the ginger sauce had a pretty decent kick to it. -- The Chicken Skewers entree is my go-to dish. It's such a classic and it has consistently been good every time I've ordered it. The chicken is juicy and the peppers and onions have a nice charred grilled flavor. The garlic parmesan sauce complements the dish well. -- The Chicken Wild Rice Soup is on the chunkier side, which I enjoyed! It was nice and creamy and didn't skimp out on the wild rice. The Clam Chowder served on Fridays was a little too salty. -- The Skillet Cookie is so warm and gooey! The ice cream melts right into the warm cookie. The cookie is on the doughier side and the outside is on the softer side. It's almost the size of the entire plate, so it's easily shareable between a few people. -- The Fish Fry Basket doesn't taste too greasy, and the tarter sauce complements the fish well. The fish has a clean flavor and on Fridays you can get a refill of 4 pieces of fried fish for an additional $7.50. You can add on their seasoned sour cream for an additional cost.
