The crater is literally outstanding! Wow I've never had a drink like this. This location is tucked away but super cool and the theme is space. The little details here make a huge impact! The owner introduced himself to us and explained the menu. We also got a focaccia with fig, walnut and blue cheese and it was yummy! For a quiet area such as Redlands, I was not expecting to find a fantastic coffee/matcha spot out here. While out here for work, this spot was not too far from my hotel, so I checked them out. First thing that stands out is the decor! Very retro in their collection, but very warm and inviting. The coffee shop is in an industrial complex, so they have a giant space decorated with furniture, making it perfect to either work or hang out. The speciality drinks are worth it! I came here twice to get the Matcha From Mars and The Meteorite drinks. Matcha from Mars has vanilla mixed in, which I was surprised to see works quite well in balancing out the earthy matcha, but the drink isn't too sweet overall! The Meteorite has toasted toffee nut mixed into a latte, adding for a creamy, nutty profile to the drink. They also supply pastries from a local bakery. I ordered an Ube Brownie, and it was fudgy and Ube-y! So rich in Ube flavor that I devoured it almost instantly (almost forgot to take a pic of it!) "Fireproof Coffee" whisks you to the early 80s eras of space travel and has a pretty awesome lineup of regular coffee and specialty drinks to go with the experience. I grew up being a bit of a space nerd so there's something about the shop that definitely appeals to me personally - it's quite a love letter to a time when aspirations of traveling to space felt more optimistic, furniture looked more colorful, and charts and graphics were simple but awesome. I ordered the signature fireproof latte - smooth and nuanced with its use of white chocolate and macadamia nut flavoring. Being that I was already getting a little tired in the afternoon, the fireproof latte was definitely the liftoff my brain was looking for! The coffee shop itself is located in a business plaza that's not easy to find upon first glance...as are any of the other great foodie spots in the same plaza. But once you step through its doors, you will definitely feel transported. The two owners of the coffee shop are also super nice and easygoing to talk to. I ordered 1 Fireproof Latte and 1 Meteorite Latte (both w/ Breve). It was a good balance of espresso and flavor. I personally like mine a little stronger but I still enjoyed it. This recent visit I ordered a Pumpkin Space Latte w/ 1 xtra shot (Breve). Yes, the extra shot did it for me! I forgot to add, the prices are ASTRONOMICAL. I spent about $6 and some change for the latte+xtra shot. Not typical you find those type of prices anymore. Customer service was amazing too. I got there 1/2 hour after opening and there place was packed. I was greeted at the counter and asked if I had any questions. Found in an unassuming commercial lot, this hidden gem of a coffee shop is the perfect watering hole for study, socializing, and getting caffeinated. It was almost as hard to find than a speakeasy, but like a bastion of brew, small signage on the curb points the way to brighter horizons. Speaking of horizons, Fireproof's retrofuturistic aerospace vibes and antiques that would fit right into the Jetsons really tickles the wonderment part of my brain. The first thing you notice when walking into the tiny foyer is the bright orange seats as if you're in a small terminal waiting to blast off. Going through the corridor opens up to the coffee shop itself. The plentiful seating and the opened garage door allowing for an indoor-outdoor "space" really sets this place apart from many others. So far, the drinks I've gotten here from the Rocket Fuel to the Dark Matter have been great hits and well themed. I need to try some of the Asian-fusion pastries as they look simply delectable. No matter what day or time you go, this place is always packed with people. Additionally, the baristas are super friendly and even remembered me coming back a month ago. This place is really amazing! The vibe of this coffee shop is super chill, comfy, and welcoming. The interior of this place is wonderful with lots of retro pieces and greenery. The customer service of the people working was a 12/10. The kind worker patiently explained their menu, and the concept is very neat! The staff here is seriously amazing. Like most places, they ask for your name upon placing your order, but then they also introduce themselves to you. It's the cutest thing! It seemed like most of their customers are regulars, too, as they knew some guests by name. I was skeptical about getting a flavored latte, since most store bought syrups taste super artificial to me, but after all the raving reviews and barista recommendation, I went with the Meteorite. Unfortunately it was artificial tasting, indeed, and really sweet. They were kind enough to remake me a plain latte without any syrups. It wasn't bad; the espresso wasn't as smooth as I was hoping but it was better than the overly sweet one. I hope they consider making their own syrups in the future; at least the vanilla. Honestly, every coffee shop should be making their own, it's so simple and tastes a million times better. I really would love to love this place. The service was excellent since the owner really tried to get to know our names after realizing we were new customers. My first time here, I only tried their matcha brownie which was very sweet and decadent as if it was a fudge brigadeiro instead of a traditional brownie. It had a strong condensed milk flavor and was something I could only eat intermittently. My second time here, I bought an iced Matcha From Mars and it was definitely married to vanilla because it tasted more like milk than matcha. It had a brilliant green color and looked promising, but I didn't find the umami or subtle bitterness of good ceremonial matcha in this drink. Perhaps it was an off day, but a couple of my other matcha-loving friends have non-simultaneously agreed that their matcha game may need reevaluation. On the other hand, I think they are doing well in terms of being a coffee shop. The Dark Matter's nutty and chocolatey layers created a harmonious coffee and iced chocolate drink. I also think the Fireproof Latte is a great drink as the face of their brand; it has been my favorite so far due to the macadamia notes and more robust coffee flavor, thanks to the espresso. Overall, I feel that these drinks are more catered towards the sweet tooth. As a brand as a whole, I appreciate the keen eye for interior design and the consistency in its intergalactic retro tech theme. I think the careful attention to detail really adds to the heart and character of the place. I have yet to use this space as a work/study spot, but I see how the open air and natural lighting give it a laid-back atmosphere. Fireproof coffee is quickly becoming a fan favorite in Redlands. They have expanded a lot since they opened, so even with it being incredibly busy, there is usually somewhere to sit and visit or study. I love that their drinks rotate, all with space-themed names and delicious combinations. They have lots of matcha drinks as well, complete with their culturally traditional method of preparation. Their prices are some of the most reasonable around-- even with adding cold foam it cost less than a plain latte from somewhere else. In the past I have found the rocket fuel not sweet enough for me, but adding the vanilla cold foam made it perfect. The radiant razz we subbed in dark chocolate instead of white, but it had a great amount of raspberry in it. Any more would have been too much. I also own the Fireproof tote bag and it is very sturdy and dependable. They sell other merch as well and have a whole bus full of plants for sale too. I'm a fan of a lot of the mid century modern furniture choices and how big the space is, especially the garage opening that let's natural light in. The owners and employees are always friendly and the drinks here are well made. I've only gotten matcha here each time I go but it's always bomb. I always end up parking my car in front of the garage area and getting a quick drink or staying and reading a book for a bit. There's a first room with posters on the wall that are actually the menu so take the time to look through them. There's a really long line but it moves very quickly. As you wait, there's restrooms in the hallway, a claw machine and a gift shop. The young man that attended us (Andrew) was very welcoming and kind. He explained to me that the posters on the wall was the menu. I chose a drink called gravity which was a cold brew with cold foam. As I waited for my drink, I took the time to explore the place. There's several sofas and tables, chairs, a school bus filled with plants, etc. Lots of space stuff. They call your name and drink out on the left side of where you ordered.
