    Seafood platter for hot pot
    Kim N.

We dropped in with party of 4 for Friday dinner. The wait was 20 mins at 6:45 PM. In hindsight, we realized that they take reservations-for next time. Dinner was $45.99/person and includes the hot pot. It's spacious and pretty. The buffet is huge with lots of selections. I suggest walking through all the rows before you make your first plate. They offer bibs, gloves, wet towelette, and plackets from the drawers at the end of each table. There were a lot of food options and I don't think I tried even half of the buffet. Here's what I did try, worth mentioning: - Peking duck - this station actually wraps it for you, with the pancake and good amount of duck. - stone crab - looks delicious but was very dry, definitely frozen, would skip next time - tamarind crab - light flavoring, dish was OK - seafood boil - consisted of shrimp, big crawfish, and snow crab. Love the snow crab, the shrimp and crawfish were so dry! - snow crab from cold bar - juicy! - Peking pork ribs - nicely flavored, juicy - fish maw soup - looked so enticing but was also bland - grilled scallop w/garlic - very dry, not seasoned well - steam fish - cooked well but flavorless - crab rangoon - pretty good! - fried quail - so dry! - assortments of self-served tea with add-in bar - choose from winter melon w/pandan, Thai tea, house milk tea, passion fruit green tea, matcha milk tea, and taro milk tea. There's chia seeds, grass jelly, lychee jelly, popping boba, brown sugar boba for the add-ins. - soft serve ice cream machine - was broken for a while when there. Then suddenly became available. I didn't feel like it was worth the wait, 3 mins to make ice cream, on top of waiting for the indecisive people ahead of you. The ice cream tastes like vanilla ice, not like regular soft serve from elsewhere. 15 minutes after we arrived, they stopped putting out the salmon and tuna sashimi. It was 30 mins later before they put more out. I was almost full by the time I decided to try the hot pot. For hot pot, there is a choice of lobster or abalone seafood platter for the table, includes shrimp, scallop, and mussels. It's 1/2 a lobster per person if choosing the lobsters option. The seafood provided for the hot pot were fresh, they were the highlight of my meal. You can choose two soup broth options from a list of 6. We chose the tom yum and the chicken bone broth. I thought the chicken broth was way too salty, had to add a glass of water to dilute the broth. Aside from the seafood platter, there is an aisle on the buffet dedicated to the hot pot, includes various meatballs, noodles, and veggies. For the meat option, there is only two-beef or lamb. The meat was sliced way too thick for hot pot. There was a high chair next to our table, caused us to have trouble squeezing in and out from one side of the table, felt way too squished together. They turn on a birthday song each time they sing happy birthday, tad bit annoying when there's 4 different ones while you're dining. The decor is pretty. The noise volume here is very loud. Plenty of parking available. Summary: I've tried it once and that's enough for me. There is so much food options that it overwhelms. However, most of the food was just OK or too dry. The only thing that stood out to me was the fresh lobster for the hot pot. That one thing is not enough to draw me back for the price point.

Oooook, here is my first and I'll probably try this place one more time when they've got it together, but be expected to wait about an hour at peak times. Have a little patience because any business like this is going to have an onslaught of people rushing in to eat at the same time because of its newness. When you walk in, you will go up to the checking machine and enter your phone number party of however many people you have and wait either on the cushioned benches if you're lucky or most likely it will be standing room only. Parking is plenty even if it shares spaces in a shopping center but that's a norm. If you are driving down the theater of what it used to be 59 South it is near where the old Kim Son used to be when you see Razzoo's it's kind of a street over you have to double back if you missed the street but that's an easy return. Have you all ever been to Umi on Wedtheimer? It's kind of parallel like that but it seems twice bigger with more items. When you are sat you will look at this small table standing menu that you'll need to squint if you're over 50 years old because the letters are about tall as an ant with dark gray lettering on black background.... who designed these dang things? You pick out of six bronze your favorite one from The Usual suspects meaning mushroom, yummy yummy, spicy chicken , tomato you know the drill. And then from there you get a choice of half of a lobster per person. ( that is not cool because you think you were getting a full Lobster upon entering so don't think it's all you can eat lobster) or Abilone. From there you will track to the massive buffet. Your basic start would be your usual sushis Chinese type buffets but what stands out would be the Mochi ice cream machine that you make yourself and unfortunately there was a line of 10 people waiting about 4 minutes each just to do their own and then when I came back it was already out of order.... not impressive for your first day opening but that's probably on the company that sold you that machine. The Crawfish were not old at all and pretty good season and large in size. There are crab legs Dungeness crabs cut in half three types of soup I think I saw something called fish maw? I forgot what the other two are. There is a sushi part of the buffet which was well prepared and on the other side would be your raw crab legs, oysters and a few other fan favorites along with your regular American salads and kimchi. The ingredients for your hot pot is pretty well spread out and a favorite of mine are the quail eggs and the black mushrooms. The sauce bar! Two times bigger than many I've ever seen and even has labels. Your desserts are your main set of oranges pudding jellos but one thing I would say that stands out would be the BOBA BAR. You can actually put as much boba, popping boba or grass jelly that you want in your glass! One thing that stands out on that part are the "peel them yourself" lychees! They are the fresh ones that come unpeeled. Service was just okay but most likely they were understaffed because you could see tables that were empty and with the standing room only in the waiting area they had to meet her how they sat people so maybe come back a little bit later when they are fully staffed. Big warning big warning! The floor that they have is of terrible design and material meaning any little bit of droppage of food especially greasy type will spread a thin layer for a good amount of square feet. This is a big slip Hazard waiting to happen and as I sat there and watched about three different people almost bust their butt it's just like watching a train wreck waiting for somebody to be taken out on an ambulance and when you get there you will know exactly what I mean when you see everybody walking down the little side hall holding on to the walls or walking like baby giraffes. The price per person is $45 plus Uncle Sam meeting you pay about $100 for two people. No senior citizen discount mentioned for 86-year-old mother. I'm not sure to call this a soft opening or what but it looks like they tried to go full steam but really not ready for it. Not the best execution but it's difficult on many establishments first runs, so let's give them another chance in a couple of weeks when the Riff Raff dies down.

not bad by any means, but definitely overpriced and overhyped imo. for "houstons biggest buffet," i didnt think there was THAT much more variety compared to other places. first off, the wait was awful, but ill give them a pass since they just opened. there were more people waiting than actually eating inside, with so many empty tables! they were terribly understaffed, although the staff themselves were very patient and accommodating. once seated, we ordered our hot pot base and the live seafood platter included with dinner. unfortunately, the hot pot took over 30 minutes to arrive, and we were also missing an order of lobster. they did bring it out once we pointed it out, but what if we hadnt been paying close attention? we couldve easily missed out on most of what we were paying for :') that being said, the lobster was live and incredibly fresh, veryyy worth it! and chicken soup base was pretty good too the hot dishes were good overall. the peking duck rolls had a good balance of sauce, green onion, cucumber, and meat. each person can only get 2 at a time, but the line moves pretty quickly. i also enjoyed the steamed white fish, baked salmon, sauerkraut fish, seafood medley, gai lan, and barbecue squid. the non-seafood meats like short ribs, black pepper beef, and beef skewers were unfortunately all too tough and overcooked. there also werent enough veggie options. the dim sum was pretty clearly frozen and reheated rather than handmade, nothing special. i was most disappointed by the sushi and sashimi. for a seafood buffet, i expected the quality to be better. the rolls didnt have enough filling, and the tuna and salmon sashimi were both pretty fishy. for dessert, the fruit was really fresh, and i was pleasantly surprised to see rambutan! they also have a topping bar with different boba and jellies, and the drinks and milk teas were actually pretty good. the ice cream machine was also pretty amusing and memorable haha overall, there were definitely some hits and misses, but i think the food is more or less on par with other buffets in the $35 range, so $45.99 is just too much for what youre getting

New buffet in Stafford Fountains area. Operations app pared to be very smooth despite it being their first week opened. I'm very impressed by their efficiency and customer service despite how many guests were dining. Weekday lunch for adults ~$25 Dinners for adults ~$46 and includes the hot pot I arrived on Friday at noon and the line was out the door! That's a real testament to the community's interest. Everyone registers on a tablet to get placed on a wait list and a receives a number assignment. It gets crowded in the waiting area, but we were seated within 5 minutes. The tables are comfortable and there is a huge dip in the table for the hot pot. The buffet itself was ~$25 for the weekday lunch and it cost an extra $5 to add hot pot to your lunch. We might as well try it out. They have such a wide range of selections and they are nicely spaced out: 1. Hot pot -many broth bases - mala, tom yum, tomato, etc -all both bases have soy so I asked for just plain hot water (i hope they may consider plain chicken broth or plain po for those who have food allergies in the future) - many sauces (garlic sesame, oyster sauce, peanut sauce, hoisin sauce, cilantro, green onions, soy sauce, fish sauce) -vegetables were very fresh: assorted mushrooms, taro, greens, bean sprouts -fish, lobster, beef ball's, fish tofu, tofu, quail eggs, muscles, clams, squid etc -variety of noodles - thinly sliced meat - lamb, beef 2. sushi bar (sushi, rolls, and sashimi) -I was very impressed by the quality and the freshness, this exceeds all the other non sushi focused buffets 3. Dim sum - buns, Harcao, shrimp and pork cheung fun, chicken feet, black bean spare ribs - too bad the cheung fun was already soaked in soy sauce (wanted to try it but I'm allergic to soy.... Perhaps they can put the sauce on the side) 4. Typical Chinese take out options - excellent selection but didn't try them due to soy allergies 5. Fruit assortment - your typical selection plus rambutan (wow) 6. Dessert assortment - tiramisu, chocolate squares, chocolate and strawberry cream fountain with marshmallows, vanilla ice cream machine with a variety of toppings. My husband said the ice cream was very creamy. 7. Tea and milk tea with a variety of toppings - matcha milk tea, house milk tea, strawberry milk tea, Thai milk tea - two types of non milk green teas -toppings: boba, popping bubbles, lychee jelly, grass jelly, chia 8. Seafood - stone crab, shrimp cocktail, salmon, imitation crab, mussels, clams 9. Fried food- excellent for kids. Can't go wrong with fried chicken, nuggets, fries, crab Rangoon, tempura fried shrimp, fried plantains and fried rice cakes 10. Stir fry area I highly recommend this buffet and will be back!

The space itself is massive with plenty of indoor seating, so even with the usual Sunday crowd, we got a table without any long, drawn-out wait. The atmosphere is completely laid back, loud, and smells like pure garlic and butter the second you walk through the door. For the main event, I went with the Combo #10, which comes loaded with a half-pound of snow crab legs, a half-pound of headless shrimp, a half-pound of sausage, three boiled eggs, corn, and potatoes. I opted for the signature Juicy Crab seasoning at the hot level. My baseline for heat is naturally pretty high, and while this didn't have me sweating, it had a legit, beautiful kick with serious depth. It wasn't just mindless spice; the garlic-heavy cajun blend was firing on all cylinders, and every single thing in that bag was perfectly saturated. The crab was sweet and slid right out of the shell, and the sausage added a great smoky contrast to the seafood. Because we clearly have no portion control, we also shared the shrimp fried rice. Usually, side dishes at boil joints are a dry afterthought, but this was surprisingly elite. It was savory, packed with a generous amount of shrimp, and served as the perfect canvas to pour the leftover bag juice over. By the end of the meal, the table was a complete disaster, but the flavor and execution were top-tier. I will absolutely be back to handle business again.
