We came to Pappadeaux on a Sunday around 5pm. It wasn't very crowded and we were able to get a table right away. We started off with a couple drink. My friend had the swamp thing, which is a classic, and I went with the pineapple refresher cocktail. The refresher was light but strong at the same time lol. For the meal I had the blackened catfish and red beans and rice which were both flavorful and cooks well. Out server Chris was polite and very attentive. It was an excellent experience.

Excellent waitress. She gave me great service. She was very polite and available. I enjoyed my lunch. My shrimp and crawfish fondue was delicious. The shrimp were very large. The bread pudding was delicious also.

Came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday and had a great experience from the start. We made a reservation for seven and were seated immediately upon arrival -- always a plus. Our server, Adreanna (forgive me if I misspelled it), was friendly and attentive, which set the tone for the night. I ordered my go-to drink, the Purple Voodoo, along with the Knife & Fork Salad topped with shrimp -- and it did not disappoint. If you've read my reviews, you already know I'm serious about a good salad, and this one was that. Fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. The Cajun-style vinaigrette was unexpected but paired perfectly with the dish and really brought everything together. Overall, I definitely recommend this location, especially if you're looking for a solid drink and a surprisingly great salad. The Knife & Fork Salad is a must-try.

I miss what Pappadeaux used to be. So many of my old favorites are no longer on the menu. What's on the menu now ranges from good enough to mediocre to forgetable but rarely wows, especially at the current prices. Granted the portion sizes are huge for most items. Service tends to be hit or miss although to be fair to our latest waitress, she was good - friendly and attentive. My family noted that the French bread, while very tasty and a great Pappadeux offering, has possibly changed to have more preservatives. It used to be that if you took home some bread, it was guaranteed to be hard the next day. It's no longer the case. This location is spacious but can get loud during peak hours.

Awesome roasted oysters and seafood fondue

Something has definitely changed at this location. It used to be super consistent, now it's a roll of the dice. On my latest visit dinner started off so well. My wife and I started with the roasted oysters and seafood fondue. The oysters were impressive and the fondue was delicious as usual. Then came the wait... It took another 30-45 minutes for our entrees to arrive and when they did my dish was incomplete. I ordered the seafood platter with a loaded baked potato. I was presented with a bare plate of catfish, shrimp and the puniest stuffed shrimp I have ever received at any Pappadeaux's location. As our server was packing up her tray and stand I inquired about my baked potato and she told me they were out of potatoes. Wtf?!?! You had 45 minutes to tell me this before our food came out and now I'm presented with an entree with no sides and you were just gonna walk away if I didn't question you??? Completely unacceptable. I got french fries to replace the potato and while I was waiting for the fries I noticed that there were no oysters included with my platter. When the fries were brought out I asked to speak with someone running this operation and a guy who appeared to be no more than 22 years old showed up and offered us a free dessert. Lol. Do I look like a child that can be appeased with an ice cream cone??? Another "manager" (who looked just as young as the last one) arrived and did their best to remedy the situation but the damage had already been done and my wife and I just wanted out of there. I have been a Pappas guy for 30 years (check out my review for Pappas BBQ) but after this evening and the overall inexperienced leadership vibe I was getting from this location I am seriously considering switching to Tilman Fertitta and the Landry's brand or Rouxpour as my local Cajun destination. I will give this location another shot because I live very close to it but it feels like every year prices go up, portions go down and quality and consistency are no longer priorities. At this price point I don't expect a Michelin level dining experience but I also don't want to deal with the same mistakes that you would have from somewhere like Captain D's. Please try to do better Stafford Pappadeaux's.

Had to reconstruct the not Greek salad at home.
    Tamieka B.

Hubby had a lunch date here and he always gets me a Greek salad whenever he goes to Pappadeaux. To my surprise what I received was anything but... I've had this salad more than more than 20 or 25 times, so I know how it's made. My salad had two lonely shrimp, no olives, no capers, no celery, no pepperoncini & no oregano. The only veggies were bell peppers, tomatoes & cucumbers...so basically a house salad. They get one star for not skimping on the feta, but nothing more. Needless to say, no more Greek Salads for us, we don't waste money on things we can make better at home.

Sooooo good! My party walked in and was immediately seated. The wonderful complimentary bread was provided upon seating. It might be the top 3 best bread I've had at a restaurant. I ordered the Madi Gras Pasta which had chicken, shrimp and sausage and the flavor was impeccable. I also ordered a Mango Tanguex frozen cocktail which was really good. Kind of sour so if that's not your thing beware. Considering how busy they were, I was extremely pleased with the service I was provided. Will be back again!

This was my first time dining at Pappadeaux, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The service was genuinely good--attentive, timely, and welcoming. The oysters and the bread were definite highlights and easily the best parts of the meal. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection; however, the seasoning across the dishes was noticeably lacking. With a bit more seasoning, the food would have truly stood out. Still, between the quality of the cooking and the great service, I can see why this place is popular.

Went to this Pappadeaux's for the first time since I moved back to Texas.... It was absolutely wonderful. Emerie was our waitress and the service she gave us was amazing and professional. About the food- I ordered the 3pc catfish with fries, the fish was cooked to perfection ( I had requested that the fish be fried hard, but not burnt. The fries were also cooked the same and lightly seasoned. My drink of choice was sweet tea and ice water. Every one enjoyed their meals tremendously. We enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back to this location. Thank you Emerie for fantastic customer service. Atmosphere- It was very loud and busy. Because it was a Sunday and after 5pm, we couldn't complain. There were many large groups and lots of children. It was actually nice to see and hear considering the times we've currently living in.

I've been here a handful of times over the years. The service has always been excellent and the food is very tasty (although definitely on the salty side). There is always a good crowd but I've never had to wait the times I've been. I really like their gumbo. This is a great date spot, a good place for business meetings, and they can also accommodate larger parties if you are celebrating anything.

This was sooo good! Good service, good drinks, great food. I loved the fondue and the crispy salmon. The food is definitely on the pricey side, but the portions are huge so truly no complaints! Would absolutely be back, especially for an event like birthday or graduation.

Came for one of my nieces birthday with family and friends today. It was around 20 guests and we were seated and served pretty quickly. Drinks were as good as they I remembered. Food came out hot and delicious. 10/10 experience.

Wonderful service. The manager Andy was super helpful, knowledgeable of the menu, & attentive. This time I got the oysters which were huge and delicious. I'm also a fan of the cajun pasta.

After 3+ years of searching for something that gives me that Atlanta-level comfort, I can finally say I've found a real contender in Mikki's Soul Food Cafe. This was my second visit, and I ordered the same thing both times--the meatloaf dinner over rice with green beans (and this time I added mac and cheese). That meatloaf? Listen... seasoned just right, tender, and covered in a rich gravy that leans slightly tomato-based without being overpowering. Poured over fluffy rice? Yeah... they knew exactly what they were doing. The first visit was a 10/10. The green beans were everything--well-seasoned, tender, with bacon and onions. It gave "somebody's grandma been cooking all morning." Now... this second visit? The green beans came in a little confused. I got more potatoes and bacon than actual beans. I'm talking hide-and-seek levels trying to find a green bean in there. Still flavorful, but the balance was off. And the mac and cheese? Not my ministry. It was very heavy--extra cheesy to the point where the texture and flavor just didn't land for me. I won't be ordering that again. Let's talk price real quick: $19.95 (2 sides) $23.95 (3 sides) At first, I paused. But once you see the portion size? You calm down real quick. These are generous plates, easily stretching into two meals. Now here's my biggest issue--and it matters: The to-go packaging needs help. That gravy on the meatloaf is delicious, but it's also very liquidy. When you order to-go (like I did for lunch), it spills out into the container and bag during transport. By the time I got back to work, my tray was covered in grease and gravy, and it made eating a whole situation. This could easily be fixed by putting the gravy in a separate, sealed container. Final Verdict: When Mikki's hits, it hits. This is some of the closest I've found to real Southern soul food in Houston. A little more consistency with sides and better to-go packaging would take them all the way over the top. Rating: 4.5 stars (9/10) 1/2 And yes--I'm coming back. Next time, I'm bringing my mom for Sunday dinner.

Crawfish & Beignets was one such place, with a prominent presence in Chinatown with the support of the local community. They were among the highest on my list for a long while, but the subsequent deflating of the experience meant it was memorable for the wrong reasons. There were various things to made it more of a letdown, which included very slow service with a side of saltiness (#1) some 'tude, and a side of overpriced dishes. The latter was fueled by foodflation, but when coupled with the food blandness (#1), it becomes the worst kind of double whammy. My bowl 3 Ibs of mixed crawfish with crab legs and shrimp were a solid portion but the Cajun (mix) seasoning wasn't there. Even the extras of the potatoes and corn were bland, which prompted me to ask for additional seasoning and some spice. Ultimately, it wasn't worth the 45 minute wait. I also shared a number of appetizers with my group, which included beignets (fluffy, airy), fried rice (salty), boudin egg rolls (surprisingly tasty), calamari (so-so), and oyster nachos (best appetizer). It was all much more appealing than the crawfish that I subsequently had. One thing I'll always remember is the words etched along their wall in an attempt to be cute: "Peel me. Suck me. Pinch me. Repeat." I'm all for all of those things, but not here. This isn't because I wouldn't want to give them another chance, but because they're now closed. All the peeling, sucky, and pinching will have to be somewhere else. __________ (#1) Surprisingly, not from the food.
