Cioppino
Andrew C.

We came for dinner and didn't need to wait long to be seated. There was a nice lady sitting outside making balloon animals for tips so that was a nice surprise. Our server was Tenesha and she was so pleasant and kind (all of the folks who helped were). We had a few things: Crab boil - very good with nice spice (definitely a little kick but not too bad - just gets the lips tingling). Fish and chips - nicely battered and fried. So tasty. Chargrilled oysters - Cajun butter and cheese. Cioppino - bits of fish, mussels, clams and shrimp. Tasty dish with bread to mop up the tomato based broth. Slightly sweet for my like but good.

Surprisingly good casual seafood spot in the town square. Very reasonably priced and a nice lunch spot! Plenty of parking in the garages. Not very busy for peak weekend lunch hour but service was good. Chargrilled oysters were a special, they tasted nice but essentially just tastes covered in cheese. $17 for half a dozen seemed a little steep for what they were, I feel like the cheese covered up the taste of the oyster. Perhaps the raw oysters are better. This was the only thing I wouldn't necessarily order again. The fish tacos were a great deal, $16.50 for 3 tacos and sweet potato fries. The amount of fish in each taco was great and I liked that the tortilla was a bit crispy. Toppings were a bit simple, the jalapeño was interesting, definitely different than a typical fish taco. Sweet potato fries were crispy and generous serving! Tried a bit of the lobster and shrimp grilled cheese, very heavenly and indulgent!

Omg I was craving fish and chips and found this place that's like 40min away but now that I see it!!! It's all worth it. From the start, customer service is amazing! I felt it being genuine, as soon as we entered the restaurant. The ladies serving tables were so sweet, nice and welcoming!!! The first timer sampler of fried oysters nachos and the soups, was amazing!!! It gave us the opportunity to try all soups and the famous oyster nachos!! And we were need up ordering more of those appetizers and went for the creamy bisque and clam chowder soup!!! Both were savory, creamy and on point!! Delicious When our food was brought to table, omg the eyes were eating first!!! Food looked fresh and smelled fresh!! We ordered the fish and chips, honey chipotle shrimp tacos, crab bisque cream, clam chowder, and let me start by saying when you come in restaurant "it doesn't smell fishy!" That's a big plus for me!!! Because fishy is not good... The haddock fish is so creamy, soft and just cooked to perfection!! The beer batter is not too thick, it has that perfect crunch where it's not too much batter!! The big chunks of fried fish are big so you will definitely have leftover!! Yay!!! The honey chipotle tacos were amazing!! Just enough spice and very savory! Cooked to perfection!! The sauce was amazing!! And the carrots added that crunch that made the taco a great choice! The drinks were so good!!! Refreshing!!! Try the dragon Paloma but don't get tipsy because I did!! Eat before you drink hahahha ohh and the perfect patron margarita was also amazing Flavor, service, ambiance!!! Awesome They are doing everything great!!! One of our favorite spots!!! You been added to my list!!!

Shrimp nachos

My friend had a card that was handed out at the Tides and Taste event being held at the Sugarland Town Square. It was for a free appetizer at Fish City Grill. We ordered shrimp nachos. They're delicious. The dish comes with sour cream on the side and jalapeños. Cadez was a great waitress. She was friendly and serviceable though we only had the free appetizers with the cards. I did order a punchline mocktail. It's got hibiscus and a mix of sweet and tart. It's refreshing. I wish the size were larger since there's no alcohol and it's $7. The card handout is a great promotion and I plan to go back to try other things.

I ordered gumbo

This was my first time at Fish City Grill at Sugar Land Town Square. The place is amazing as I was here meeting a friend for appetizers during dinnertime. I ordered gumbo. It was delicious. I was told this was a special dark roux. The dish was spicy enough for me. I sampled a piece of calamari from my friend's order. It was tasty with the sauce. The parking was a little tricky. I wish there was some information about the parking at the restaurant. I parked in the garage. There were numbers at the stalls. Not sure if my car would get towed. I had to hurry up and finished eating. I think I would return. I want to try other dishes. I will find a better parking next time.

Very inviting staff and clean establishment. The workers are so fast and easy to communicate with. Decided to order half a dozen of oysters, shrimp po boy, and fishwich. Everything was so good! The portions are huge here. To be honest, I liked both the sandwiches...couldn't pick a favorite. Would definitely come back here

One of our favorites it town center! The food is always great. The clam chowder is always a favorite and has a lot of clam in it. The fried seafood is also good. We love all the appetizer options too. The oyster nachos are a must but eat then soon bc the chip on the bottom gets a little soggy. The workers are all so nice and helpful. They are always ready when you need help and ready to accommodate. It is a really cute family friendly restaurant. Never super packed or loud. It's a close proximity to the center, so you can hear the performances or walk right out after dinner! I will always recommend this place!

This place was a knockout in mine and my husband's opinion! We went on a date last night and we can't wait to go back already. The service was friendly, the food was delicious and the environment was very welcoming. The food came out quick. I did order a Bloody Mary and it was a thicker consistency than I like. It was hard to get down but with the celery, shrimp, and olive, I managed. We shared 2 plates (we were going to do 3 but we got full quick lol)- the FCG Sampler, which came with calamari, fried pickles, and their shrimp and crab queso. The queso was SO good, SO flavorful. The calamari came with a sweet chili sauce which we enjoyed. The fried pickles could have used more seasoning, it was a little bland but still good. We ordered a dozen of the gulf oysters and these suckers were HUGE. We were a little uncomfortable with how big they were but nevertheless, we still enjoyed them and appreciated the size (everything is bigger/better in Texas I guess lol)! We will definitely be back!

I was around the area because my family flew in from California for an event close by. But luckily they were staying in town center. We had to go back because they forgot their backpack in car and decided to eat out. There lots of businesses to dine in but ultimately decided to try Fish City Grill. Fortunately for us we were able to stop in about an hour before closing. But the restaurant is very casual with also outdoor dining. My family and I decided to pick the calamari as an appetizer and I selected the seafood platter but upgraded to the beer batter cod instead of the catfish. The calamari is good and breaded nicely with Parmesan. The sauces were tartar and sweet chili sauce. The seafood platter has nice variety and they do have an option to have it grilled or fried but fried was the best route since I picked the cod. It did also come with a cole slaw but was definitely different from the usual ones I would have with fried chicken. Also when I do get beer batter cod, I always have to look for the malt vinegar. Overall it was a solid visit. I would think Fish City Grill is nice for a local seafood restaurant that anyone can stop in for drinks as well. My only small takeaway was not with our server he was awesome but the other staff. We were looking to get some ketchup but our server was a bit busy with other orders. There were staff around and especially one right next to us folding silverware and tried to call their attention but were preoccupied with the tasks head down or passed us by straight ahead. But other than that it was an ok visit. Our severer was great but everything else didn't really leave me with a memorable remark to come back. They are located next to Baker St. Pub and offer fish and chips, I would prefer there if I was looking for it. I would be 50/50 on a comeback

I really wish Yelp allowed ratings in half star increments. I would have rated this restaurant 3.5 stars. At the end of the day, I asked myself would I want to come back, and if the answer was yes, then I would round up, and if the answer was no, I would round down. I determined the latter. The atmosphere and decor are very nice. Gives the vibes of a very casual, but clean seafood restaurant. I really wanted to like this place as I'm still looking for a go-to for this type of restaurant in Houston, a place for chilled seafood like oysters, shrimp, crabs, etc. The service as good. The location is great given it's in the CityWalk Center. It was our first time at CityWalk and I would definitely go back as there seemed to be lots of restaurant choices to try. My daughter and I had lunch here today. We had: Dozen oysters (6 gulf and 6 blue point). I don't give ratings on raw oysters themselves as it requires no skill from the restaurant, but I will say that for the prices they charge (~$3/oyster), I would expect the presentation to be nicer and for there to be more accompanying sauces than just cocktail sauce. The presentation is just on a aluminum tray on a bed of ice. Peel and eat shrimp - Same as above in terms of presentation. The shrimps were cooked well. Clam Chowder - 4/5 - The soup was very good rendition of a classic New England clam chowder. Shrimp Po'boy - 3/5 - My daughter and I split the sandwich. It was "okay" in every way. Shrimps were well grilled but other than that nothing stood out about the bread or the sauces.

We had a great experience at Fish City Grill in Sugar Land! We came before the town square Oktoberfest and really enjoyed ourselves. The team was great, especially our waitress, Robyn, who was very friendly, attentive and timely. We both tried the shrimp and grits and I had a margarita, both of which were great and worth the price imo. We sat outside and it was a nice day, comfortable and pleasant.

This week I joined an oyster tasting. From raw, fried, chargrilled, and more. The good was scrumptious, flavorable and just enough. Although it was a tasting service was top notch. The ambiance in the restaurant was family friendly. We had the following: raw oysters with a vinegarette.. I never had raw oysters but with the lemon and vinegarette they were tasty. Next we had oyster nachos, OMG!! This right here.. It was a tortilla shell with a warm chipotle tarter sauce, the fried oyster and fresh Pico on top. Then came the chargrilled oysters with butter parmesan cheese(a tad salty) but still good. We even had an entree Grilled Red Fish with Thanksgiving Iyster dressing. I was passed full at this point but out came dessert. You could choose from key lime pie or bread pudding with a Rum sauce. Both were good. Did I say we also had a spearing drink with each item.. What a night.. I will be going back for lunch, dinner or happy hour.

It was a special but super good. Fried catfish w a Roasted Jalapeño Sauce

I love that they give you a sampler when you first visit. Definitely made us choose different options. Gumbo is good if you like a dark roux. Fried shrimp and fish were good. Not overly seasoned. We went 2 weekends in a row because the food and service were so good. It was a pleasant surprise.

It was hopping on a Saturday night, as they have a few other businesses in the same parking lot. Finding a spot was easy for me, but that's because I was lucky. The lot was packed and I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time. I'll take the win. Walking in the restaurant has outdoor seating, and indoor. A pretty good line when we walked in leading up to the door, but it went quickly. About half of the tables on the interior in use, but it was very easy to find a place to sit. Outdoor was about maybe 1/4 capacity. They have a pretty interesting menu, it definitely fits along the gastropub line. I was very tempted to do tacos and burgers but our goal was burgers and I stuck to it. I had the Brie and candied bacon burger. Was it messy? Yes, yes it was. Was it phenomenal? Yes, yes it was. With candied jalapeno, candied bacon, arugula and a fire vinaigrette, this was my favorite burger. The jalapeno was flavored but not spicy. For those who are adverse to heat. The vinaigrette really sets off this burger, on top of the medly of flavors. Cooked to juicy perfection, would 100% get this again. The gal went with the California Burger. Also an excellent choice, but I liked mine more. This one serves up sliced avocado, bacon, tomato, arugula, Swiss, and again, a house vinaigrette. Whoever thought let's make a burger more wet, you were right. That's why we have napkins. Both the truffle fries, and the onion rings sounded good. So we ended up just getting both. The truffle fries had fantastic flavor but it felt like we had the bottom of the bag. All of the fries were very tiny. It's like when you go out for fast food, and it's all the tiny broken pieces at the bottom of your fries. They also come with a nice dipping sauce. Highly recommend. The onion rings were fantastic, I really enjoy how they are battered. I served by themselves, they are delightful. The staff were excellent! They continued to check on everybody and make sure that they had everything they needed, they were busing tables left and right. Very proactive in keeping the place clean and getting seating turned around for the next customer pretty quick. We will definitely be coming back to try more items on their menu. They also have what appears to be an upscale joint next door of the same name with wine. That will also be a place that we'd like to check out in the future. Is it a drive, yes. Is good food and good experience worth the time and effort to get there, it absolutely is. Check them out. See what you think!

The roasted red pepper hummus with parmesan crisps surprised me in the best way--really good. The Brussels sprouts and lettuce wraps were the clear standouts, an easy 10/10 and the main reason I'll be back. Some other apps were hit-or-miss for my taste, but that happens. The vibe was relaxed and clean, with a nice buzz once the Friday after-work crowd rolled in. The manager checked on us multiple times, gifted us their house-made potato chips (Chef's Snacks--crispy and addictive), and even gave us appetizer coupons after hearing we work at a school and were scouting a spot for a happy hour social. That kind of genuine hospitality goes a long way. Solid drinks, strong food highlights, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Lazy Dog definitely earned a return visit.

They do not serve hotdogs I repeat - they do not serve hot dogs!…read more They serve much more than that. I came here for an event and was surprised at how good and fresh the food was. The staff was so attentive and knowledgeable on all the foods. It's American food, but they do a lot of fusion, so there was something for everyone. The cheesecake was zesty and not overly sweet, which I appreciated because it let me taste all the distinct flavors going on. The curry chicken salad with chickpeas I know my husband would've loved, I ate it for him lol. I don't know what it was but the bottom of it had a dressing that made it very delectable. I was on the outside on the patio that had a large fireplace and it was so cozy, I can imagine it being very inviting during winter time. First, tonight my family and I came into the restaurant and were not greeted by any hostess or employee for about 7-10 minutes. We understood though because everyone seemed to be in a rush since it was busy. We patiently waited then we were finally seated. Our server took our drink orders first as usual, got us our drinks then walked away. We waited a good while for her to come back since we were wanting to order an appetizer, and that took forever. Once we finally were able to place our appetizer order, it took another 10 minutes for it to come out. Again, we tried our best to be nice since it was busy. Now to the meals.. we put in our order for our dishes and proceeded to wait about 30-35 minutes. There is only 3 of us! Once everyone got their meals we realized it just.. wasn't the best. - My mother ordered a customized pick 3 meal, her roasted chicken sandwich didn't have any roasted chicken, she said it was all lunch meat? And her bread was as hard as a rock. The "truffle fries" that she had to pay extra for didn't have any truffle, when asked about it.. we were informed it was just truffle "oil". What. Lastly, she didn't even receive her soup. They forgot about it. We had to remind them about the forgotten soup for my mother to finally receive it. She said it was not even good. - My mediterranean chicken bowl was..okay, but I did notice that last time I was here I had a good amount of chicken. This time.. I had barely any chicken. We received 0 REFILLS on our drinks, so by the time we ordered dessert we couldn't even finish it since we were so thirsty and the chocolate was so rich. In the end, the rush died down so much where once we sat up to go we were wondering why service was still awful when no one was in the restaurant. The manager did come to apologize, both our server and manager were very nice. They decided to take off the sandwich from our bill and remake the sandwich and soup to go. Once we got home, my mother realized the soup in our to go package was actually the correct soup, and that at the restaurant she has no idea what soup they brought her. Overall, this experience tonight has been awful. We went home thirsty and hungry.
