Discovered this place when going to the Radnor's burger food truck parked outside. This is a perfect set-up for the two businesses because Firemind provides a comfortable and family-friendly sit-down environment to eat at, which Radnor's lacks; and Radnor's provides the good food that Firemind does not make themselves. We were lucky enough to come when a FIFA game was on. There was plenty of seating on a Monday night and we got a great view of the game on the tv. There were a few groups sitting in the back and in the backyard patio. The back area offers various beer-brewing books and board games for your entertainment. They offer their own in-house brewed beers and seltzers. I usually drink seltzers to be "healthier" but usually don't like how tart or bubbly most places make them. I tried a special walnut seltzer here that was just a one-off experiment the brewer made. It was AMAZING. I went back for seconds and would love to take a growler home. I think my husband enjoyed his beers too, but he drinks IPAs and that's not my jam. The two guys working that day were very friendly. One of them was the brewer (head brewer?) and we learned a lot about the place's history and what they do. This brewery has been here for years and I didn't know. I thought they were newly opened, similar to Radnor's next door, but they actually rebranded last year or so, so it made it seem like they were a new business. The guys explained that they used to be called something else that made people think they were a place to buy beer brewing equipment and classes rather than a place to drink beer, so they changed their name and it really helped bring more people in. They still offer brewing classes at a great price. It sounds like such a cool experience for the solo beer enthusiast or for a team building event. They also host open mic nights and other community events. I had such a good time here that I would love to come back and continue to try out more of their beers, learn about the beer brewing process, and take in the fun and casual environment. read more

Firemind Brewing is what used to be the Station U-Brew. At least it's in the same space which I believe the new name is due to new owners taking over. Everything seems about the same ( the beertender I recall seeing before when the predecessor was still around...I think) as far as set up goes. Definitely some new signage going on which is to be expected. Firemind and it's predecessor I think remain my favorite brewery in Puyallup. My first visit under the Firemind name I got two of the beers on tap which I liked quite a bit. The first one was Brain Drain which was quite good. It is an English Bitter and lived up to that name quite nicely. It had maltiness going on which I do love with this particular kind of beer. Mind Goblin was the next beer. This was a good one too as it also had maltiness, nuttiness and toffee at play in the the flavor profile. Great first stop...just as enjoyable and the predecessor brewery and I'd love to come back to partake more of their beers ! read more

New(ish) brewery alerttt! Firemind Brewing used to be the old U-Brew spot, which I never checked out in the past... I always saw their sign but never got the chance to check them out. I saw an article about Firemind taking over the space and was motivated to go check them out after the nearby farmer's market. This spot is a vibe! We love no-frills type of spots and this fits the bill. Just a great spot to grab a beer, chat, and relax. They also appear to still do the custom brewing for customers, but I don't know much about that. I got the IPA that's currently on tap and it was great. The owner said they're in the middle of creating a hazy which I will definitely be back for because that's my go-to. They also have wines, ciders, and seltzers which is great for the non-beer drinkers. Another added bonus for us is that it's kid-friendly! We brought our son with us and the owner made sure to let us know he had beverage options for him as well, so we purchased a $1 Capri Sun so he could join us in the cheers. LOL So glad we stopped in and we're definitely gonna be back! read more

I was waiting for the train and along with the need to use the restroom I was thirsty, so I ventured in to The Station and U-Brew really not knowing what to expect. Outside the door I lowered my expectations and expected my dad's bar from 1975 but since I didn't see a line of Hell's Angels bikes outside I felt reasonably safe. Also, I was not hopeful that this place would have a decent bathroom. As soon as I was inside I was warmed by some great country music and the smells and sensations of a prime brewing business. The chalkboard brink menus let me know these guys are always working on their craft and creativity and I was not disappointed. I tried the Crossbuck Dunkle. I just liked the name... I stopped the brewmaster from getting me a large free sample and just tried a 1/4 of the sample glass. I was immediately smitten by the flavor of a slightly sweet and deeply complex dark beer that I will never forget. It made me feel like I was eating a fantastic nutty-healthy cookie. The brewmaster was regaling me with information and words, and I had to stop him in mid sentence and just experience this beer. If it was a beer. I momentarily forgot my fear of missing my train and settled in to this experience. I set a timer on my phone. Look go here. Bring your friends here to taste great beer. If they bring on a woman with the gift of hospitality to bring in just a touch of ambience this place will blow up. Maybe it already has. This is such an organic and down to earth place. If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a nice cold glass of beer, check this place out. The owner is such a good natured guy.. and his beers are delicious. Try the IPA he always has on tap... really good. It's only $5 for a glass of beer! This place is a hidden gem. I am very delayed in writing this and only hope they are still operating. The owner was considering hanging it up at one point. This is a unique place that allows you to come in and brew your own beer. He teaches you the whole process, guides you through it and you walk away with your handiwork a few weeks later. I saw folks come in to brew a keg's worth for their wedding and others come in to just try their hand at making their own concoctions. I enjoy just stopping in for one of his recently brewed pints and chatting. He always has 6-8 beers available by the pint and some are bottled to take home. My family and I take an annual trip to the Washington State Fair and we always stop by for a beer at the Station U-Brew afterwards. I randomly swang through yesterday because I was heading to Puyallup to make a Craigslist purchase. They had a really good Jalapeño Ale on tap and I ended up having a few of them! The owner/bartender Steve is really friendly and the patrons that were hanging out seemed very inclusive and friendly also. I ended up getting a delicious Rye beer to go and I definitely didn't regret that. hope to see this gem stick around for a long time! read more

I want to write a review that doesn't tell you how perfect this place is. I don't want to tell you about how me, my brother and my best friends meet here at least once a week to quaf beer and listen to Steve wax poetic about the goings on in Puyallup and the world. There's only a few bar stools... we take them all up. You'll want me to tell you about the 6 or so awesome beers Steve keeps on tap at any given time. You'll want me to tell you about how they range from pale ale's to porter's made with Jack Daniels. Yes, made right there. Yes, for $150 you can make your own batch of 10 gallons of beer. You'll bottle it right there. Steve doesn't have any food... unless you count the endless bag of pretzels behind the counter. Food would get in the way of beer brewing and beer drinking (says Steve).... He is just fine with you bringing in your own stuff however. Just clean up your mess when you're done. The $3 pints are gone... I cried that day. I tried to get Steve to grandfather us in but he gave some excuse about how he was loosing money on me and my friends drinking all the beer... Please don't believe me when I tell you this is the gem of Puyallup. Don't tell your elitist Seattle or PDX friends. They'll ruin it. Tell them to stick to their fancy lil' hipster bars up north. Extremely over priced. You can buy an entire home setup for the price this guy charges to make a 10 gallon batch. The owner is also super cheap and will look for reasons to charge you extra. I have been beer-ing at the Station since about the time it first opened : 5 years this May, I believe. My wife and I have brewed there half a dozen times : nutt-ish browns and apple beers for Thanksgiving. Speaking of giving thanks, I do, for this place. First of all it is just 2 short blocks from my home - yee-haw !! Second, you could not ask for friendlier, more open and receptive people: staff and patrons alike !! Steve, the owner, is just a great guy. Rem(ington), his sole employee, is very cool, too. Oh yeah, the beer - all made on-site and available only on-site. "1744 porter", "honey blonde", and the "red" are my faves. This place is very small/intimate. It is a lot like someone's full-bore garage home brewing setup. If you have never brewed, but want to try it, this is the place to go. Some might bitch about paying; but remember that they have all the supplies, all the equipment, all the expertise, and they do ALL THE CLEANUP !!! I have drank at many other establishments in Puyallup, but nothing beats this place. The owner, Steve, is a really good guy who is very down to earth and fun to chat with. I have been in the ubrew many times and end up chatting with some very interesting people from the area as well. There is also no loud, obnoxious music blaring in the background either. The atmosphere is great and on tuesdays and wednesdays he offers 3$ pints. This is not like drinking any store bought beer, mind you. A few of these puppies and you know you have had your moneys worth. The selection is also really good as far trying new kinds of beers. I have been going here on and off for about a year and a half now, and after I have my baby, I am going to stop in here for a half a beer on my way home from the hospital. The beer is affordable and he also offers growlers of the beer he makes. There have been times I have been in there and he has me try a few sips of other peoples beer. I have never been treated so well by any business owner. He knows how to brew a good hand crafted beer and, most importantly, he is a local guy. Came in while walking around downtown Puyallup. Had sandwiches from the cheese shop and brought them in here to have with a pint of beer. They change their rotating taps and its 4 dollars for a 16 oz and 5 dollars for a 20 oz. you can brew your own beer here too. I would say that they wouldn't have any more than 8 beers on tap but all are worth tasting, which is free. read more
