We love firehouse, in fact, it may be our favorite sub shop. I am disappointed in this location however. I've been several times, and each time it is SO SLOW. Today, for example, I went in and ordered two subs. The only modification I requested was no onions on one sub. It took 30 minutes to get two subs. When I placed the order, the guy at the counter was watching the front door; instead of looking at me. I had to repeat my order a few times because he was staring at god knows what off in the distance. I'm sure we will eat here again , I just wish the service could improve. read more

Yes, every single one of the negative reviews are 100% accurate. Took an hour for my order to be received. Turns out, it was because they gave my order to one of the delivery services. As I sat there patiently waiting, countless people came in and turned around expressing their frustration and it appeared the employees were equally as frustrated with their management. I view this chaos as much more of a management issue than an employee. All that said, once the issue with my order was discovered, one of the employees (I didn't get his name) stepped up to assist. Favorite place to get my usual sub, which is the Hook and Ladder. I've been here countless of times and have yet been disappointed in the service. The staff were always patient with me and my sub is always on point and full of flavor. I have yet to try a another sub from the menu but I will try to steer away from my usual one day. I introduced Firehouse to my other friends and they are a bit picky. Both of them got them Hook and Ladder as well and I was nervous they weren't going to enjoy it, but I was wrong. We ate here for dinner tonight. I've actually been here 4 times now. My favorite sub is their featured sub, the Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. ...YUMMY! I've actually ordered that the last 2 times I've been. (I know, I know...but it's hard for me to breakaway and try something different, when I've found something so good!) ....and, they serve Coke Zero!! (I wish more places served Coke Zero) The place is always clean and the portions are big, for the price. They even offer the VIP cards, so after you eat several, you get one free. I give this place 4 stars because the food is great and the service is pretty quick. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars, is because I've been there twice after 8pm and both times it appears there isn't a manager and the teens that work there are too loud. ...sometimes obnoxiously loud. BIG FAT ZERO - First, Kudos to Firehouse for contributing to firefighters. Yet, this specific location gets a BIG FAT ZERO on customer service. I was so flabbergasted that I left my fully paid order on their counter and WALKED OUT. I ordered the Firehouse Salad. Before placing the order, I asked the young lady at the register if the salad came with crackers. She said "Yes." I was served a pitiful excuse for a salad; very SMALL serving and no crackers. The staff told me they had run out of crackers. The tiny morsels of lettuce with slight toppings was no where worth $8.14. I took the untouched salad, still packaged in take-out container to the register for refund. A staff member in the service line refused to accommodate my request. My wife wanted a 'warm' submarine sandwich. She really was in the mood for Penn Station, but they don't have them in this area. I found a Firehouse nearby and have enjoyed those in the northern Indiana area. Location was accessible, clean but not spotless, and medium busy with several dining in and a couple waiting for takeout. We ordered a New York Steamer and a Firehouse Hero, both were sandwiches that we had not tried before. I would just call them "okay ". In the past I have tried different menu options (Engineer) and been more satisfied. Service was okay at this location and the wait was not long. I would eat here again, but it wasn't impressive enough to make me want to come back soon. Possibly I'll order a different sandwich next time and see if that changes. read more

Welcomed by all employees at once, not my thing it's a little obnoxious! Having to squeeze past too many tables to arrive at the rear of the store for ordering. Manager or Owner took my order and was very upbeat but not too goofy. I just love the soda machine!!!!! Manager visited all tables double checking quality. Super awesome decor with the dalmatian tables, fire coats, axes, and fire hydrants it was a cute place. Hoping to get my nephews in here soon. Today was my second visit and I really liked how efficient they are. I sat at the bar today and got to watch the sandwich assembly. There was one lady that literally kept the flow of that whole place in order with a smile on her face. I think the back of her shirt said "steam station". Nice, delicious and warm sandwiches. Filling, too! I tried the turkey salsa verde and although it was good, I wished I went for the turkey and cranberry instead. There was so little salsa verde on it that upon lifting the turkey slices (which were a generous amount) I could only see about 2 tablespoons or less of the sauce. I do love the wheat rolls and the stack of hot sauces (graded!) that they have lined up. I tried about 4 different sauces and they were all good! The employees greeting you "welcome to Firehouse!" gets so repetitive as LITERALLY it echos. One person starts and then two and three follow until my group and I were making jokes and repeating after them "welcome to Firehouse!" Oh well, they must really welcome us there. Not surprised all the reviews are so low at this place. My 10 month old and I came here for lunch and it was not the best experience. For starters I was told to wait a few minutes while the man was messing with the register and a calculator. Finally I'm asked by one of the two other employees working if I knew what I wanted. I order my sandwich and then my baby's kids meal (it's a Sunday so it's free) he was having a grilled cheese and I watched the woman throw both slices of cheese straight on the stainless steel table by the toaster. I'm not sure if this is the culture of this place i.e marble slab but that seemed very unsanitary and worried me however not a huge deal I give my baby pacifiers off the ground. He rings me up and after I pay I realize they didn't take the kids meal off. I asked "isn't the kids meal supposed to be free?" Typical Firehouse Subs. They have seemed to be trying to get this place a little cleaner and better people lately. When the owner or Manager is there it is the best service ever. When he is not well it is hit and miss. One sad thing is they have seemed to have forgotten that the hot sauces are a staple of the brand. I went in on Thursday and they had 6 sauces. 8 bottles were actually empty or could not get anything out of them. This is a bit alarming since you would think there would be at a minimum 20 or so unique sauces on the shelf like all other locations. On 01/13/2023 my family came to the location on Bay Area Blvd. There was three employees working at the time a Hispanic female names Briana who was the manager, a black female and an older white male. While we sat waiting for our food i could hear Briana being very rude to the old man. She stated "do you have a hearing aid? Maybe you need to go get one." The black female was just laughing in the background when Briana was making rude comments to the older gentleman. Briana and the other female were on their phone for the majority of the time we were in the restaurant. The older gentleman was sweeping the floor and keeping busy while the other two sat on their phones. I was also accidentally charged for something i didn't get. While they were trying to find the manager the older gentleman offered to pay me out of his own pocket if they couldn't find her. I do not think someone in a management position should be treating their employees like she did. Walked in to store about 7:30pm. One customer in whole store. Two employees openly discussing problems with the staff they do not like and complaining about everything. Waited a couple of minutes and was told they would be with me shortly. Both employees went back to discussing personal maters and I was ignored for another 3 minutes. Finally the lady told me they had a big order and it would be 30-45 minutes to get a sandwich! I know this is not fine dining, but 30-45 minutes. Customer service is non existent here. Walking in the door I see a sign that reads Best Meatballs Guaranteed. With such a bold statement, I had to give their meatball sub a try. The sandwich came out hot and had a delicious Italian aroma. I go in for a small bite and taste the bread and sauce. The bread had a nice toasted flavor and the sauce was also very good. With my taste buds primed, I go in for a big meatball bite. And my excitements turns to disappointment as the flavor falls short of the best meatball claim. The texture was off, a little to soft. And the flavor was off, a little to much like a meatball from a cheap TV dinner. Reading the find print on the guarantee, I could have gotten my sandwich for free. But it was good enough that I didn't want to go through the anguish of telling them their baby was ugly. I like Firehouse subs, and I will come back again. But I will skip the meatball sub. Up until today the food has always been very good. I normally get the Brisket and Cheese sub, and usually, it's enjoyable. The beef was a type of chopped brisket, and had a good flavor. However, they've changed to a form of sliced beef that is tough, stringy and rubbery - very difficult to chew. Tasted like something from a Swanson TV dinner. I'm sorry, but I expect a better quality food at these prices. Why did you change it? It was fine the way it was. I will most likely not eating here again. After nearly a week of being very sick, I wasn't exactly enthusiastic when my mom asked me if I wanted something from Firehouse Subs, but I had her get a Steak and Cheese for me anyway thinking I might eat it later or tomorrow. By the time she got home, though, it was late afternoon, so I figured, hey, maybe a few bites wouldn't kill me. The first (tentative because of fever blisters) bite and I was happy as a clam! I'm not one for "exotic" sandwich combinations with all manner of dressings, sauces, and toppings, so this sandwich was a delight - mild but tasty, and not piled so high that I had trouble eating it. Some have complained about them being too thin but for me the ratio of bread to fixins' was perfect! It's more than safe to say that the Steak and Cheese will be my go-to if and when we're in the area. (The Baybrook location is a little out of the way when you just want to grab a quick bite. ) And bonus points for the pickle spear, which rounded things out perfectly! Also, I really appreciate Firehouse Subs' straightforward, simple menu. It's nice to be able to make a decision right away without having to waffle between several different choices while fearing buyer's remorse later. (That "other" popular chain is always inconsistent - sometimes amazing, sometimes mediocre, and many times a waste of money.)
