    Turkey sub
    Ellie B.

Overall a decent, filling, and speedy place to grab food at the airport. Lots of restaurants were already closed when I was at MSP and I didn't have time to sit down at any of the nicer places, so I tried firehouse subs. Easy to order and food came out quickly.

Food is greasy and not as good compared to regular restaurant. Service is okay and fast enough when you're in the airport. Too many people in the counter but no one helps you right away, they have to call the manager to print my receipt. Which he is nowhere to be found. Receipt has no validation number to be able to join the monthly winner.

    Veggie sandwich with some modifications.

They conjured up a nice plump sandy for the wife and I. I've been to a few Firehouse locations and this one is definitely up to par.

So slow. Will be 30 minutes for a sandwich with 3 people in the line. Best to avoid if you want to go anywhere in a hurry.

Old school all the way. There's a restaurant in the back, and a full-scale deli counter in the front. It is such a good stop. They have their own private parking lot too. Packed the midweek afternoon we visited, and we did not wait for a table. Loved my bowl of Matzo Soup, superb broth and the Matzo was delicious. Enjoyed my BLT on whole wheat and the homemade potato salad was amazing! Had a cherry cobbler for dessert that was incredible. Restaurant has been open for over 70 years, and I met the owner/manager, Cecil, afterward, and he just oozes customer service being a priority. It's a must-visit place.

The line for baked goods was also busy but moved quick and wow - I regret not getting any of the baked goods. They looked phenomenal. I had the Leonard Da Vinci which was outstanding. The gardiniera was the perfect level of spice and the sandwich was jam packed with salami and turkey. The Cole slaw was also delicious. The vibe inside is very Eastern European deli authentic which is so fun. They had tons of to go items for sale as well and a huge grab and go beverage selection. The seating area was spacious and packed on a warm spring day.

On weekdays, it's usually quick to get in and out! There is always plenty of parking on the residential streets nearby. You order at the register, and they'll call out your name when your order is ready. They have some seating indoors and outdoors, but it's a relatively small space so it does get crowded on the weekends but I've never had to wait too long to find a place to sit! Breakfast is served until 11 on weekdays and noon on weekends and lunch is served all day! Their menu is labeled clearly with what's vegan and vegetarian. They do have an option to sub for gluten-free bread for any sandwich, although I haven't personally tried the gluten free bread. Marty's breakfast sandwiches are an absolute must try! Their focaccia has a fluffy interior and lightly crispy exterior, and the toasted sesame seeds on it add a nice layer to the flavor. The eggs are perfectly fluffy, and the cheese is perfectly gooey and melty. It is, in my opinion, one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the cities. I also think the hash browns are THE best hash browns you can buy. They're house-made, with the potatoes grated more finely than your typical hash brown. They have a fluffy interior, crispy exterior, and are salted to perfection. I like them with a side of aioli, but they're also good on their own! I would highly recommend going to Marty's, and especially recommend their breakfast!

Pro tip check their instagram stories to see if they're sold out. They make their focaccia bread daily and when it's gone it's gone for the day. It's normal to spot a long line, don't let that make you hesitate. It goes fast and is so worth it. My absolute love em items: Pool & Yacht Club (this sandwich could be my love language. The first time I went here I had lunch and also got another sandwich to have later for dinner because it was that good.) Chocolate Olive Oil Cookie (this is one of the best cookies I've ever had hands down. Crispy but soft, smooth chocolate, salty bits, so. frickin. good. I am not usually a chocolate cookie gal but dang this one is beyond good) highly recommend getting your own because you're not gonna want to share. Maybe get one for later too even. You won't regret it. Additional shout out for their breakfast sandwich and hash browns. Yummm They also have a cute little patio out back to enjoy. I was on the street in front of Clancy's when one of their customers was mis-identified as an officer of an organization that was terrorizing Minneapolis. It had nothing to do with Clancy's! As I tried to get to my car, people yelled the most obscene and disgusting epitaphs at the couple in front of me. I was just walking down Grand Avenue. They were even spitting at this innocent individual. As a liberal who marched for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam during the 1960s and 1970s, I was horrified. Blaming Clancy's is ignorant, and an integral part of how this country is dismantling. On one side is a meat market with a variety of cuts of steaks, lamb, and other meats, which all looked fresh and quite nice. They also have a variety of items such as canned goods, pasta, eggs, etc. on the shelves opposite the meat counter. The entire place is quite sunny, pleasant, and cozy. On the other side is the eat-in, take-out deli sandwiches, that are made to order. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. The bread is freshly made (crispy baguette type) and you have a choice of Roast Beef, Roast Turkey, Tuna Salad, Smoked Ham, or Corned Beef. All sandwiches are $16.50 each (including tax) and come with a choice of mayonnaise, spicy stone ground mustard, red leaf lettuce, thin sliced red onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, raw grated horseradish, pickled jalapeno, and roasted bell pepper. The default includes all toppings so if you don't want everything, be sure to specify what you do NOT want. Surprisingly, they do not carry any diet soda, nor do they stock any national brands (only local pop). There is a large menu on the wall, and you order at the counter and pick up the order (no table service). The food was attractively presented, and very, very good. My only gripe (besides the lack of diet pop) is that it's on the expensive side for lunch. Two sandwiches, a couple of bags of chips, and a couple of cans of pop will easily top $40, although I'd say the quality is top-notch.

I love myself a cheesesteak and I wanted to see if this would be a new favorite I'd enjoy wearing out. They loaded this sandwich with onions, green peppers, and mushrooms. They added some of their pasta sauce on the bottom as well. The sandwich was good, but I thought it needed a bit more flavoring/spices. The bread was some of the softest I've experienced though and the cheese was a good amount. The combo was paired with a pickle spear and a bag of potato chips. This may sound strange, but can potato chips steal the show? Because they did. Super crunch and salty. Yum-O! I tried their coleslaw too and it seemed like to sat there awhile. It was tasteless and I ended up throwing the pint out. I will say the staff here are very friendly and helped me decide on some sandwiches and gave me an honest review of their favorites and least favorites. I appreciate that. Conveniently located off Johnson NE (free parking on the street), this local restaurant serves up some good hoagies, sub-marino sandwiches (see what I did there?), pasta, and other Italian food. It's a unique restaurant because it's kind of like a deli and fast casual restaurant with a few tables inside, but when I arrived shortly after 1 pm, it was pretty empty. Overall, the service was great, it's a family-owned place and the mother and daughter were working and were very pleasant. The place smells terrific, if you like Italian food and good sauces. While the decor is a step-back in time, I really enjoyed the taxidermy walleyes which is a true reflection of being a Minnesota business. The sandwich I selected was good, came with a small bag of chips, and wasn't too pricey - the prices are actually pretty good, but the only thing I would say is the sizes aren't huge. I recommend Marinos if you are in the neighborhood and definitely want to try the pasta and meat ravioli next time!

Today I tried their Roast Beef on Weck, which is carved roast beef on a type of roll called a Weck (a Kaiser-style roll topped with coarse salt and caraway seeds.). The restaurant was busy, and this is not a trendy place! I'd be surprised if there was anyone in the restaurant who was not of Medicare age (which also describes me; I'm not being ageist, just truthful). This is something that is available for lunch, during the week (not on weekends). Previously, I wanted to order this before. It was at the beginning of the lunch hour, so unfortunately the end pieces were cooked well-done. I asked if they would cut from the center, which is much more rare, but they wouldn't do that. This time, we came later and I could see that the roast beef was gloriously rare, which is what I like. The sandwich was quite enjoyable because it was juicy and flavorful. It comes with a side of cole slaw which is vinegar based (which I liked, but isn't traditional in the Midwest). It's difficult to find good, rare roast been in the Twin Cities, so this was another good find. My wife had the matzo ball soup, which remains high quality. The beef on weck sandwich (with coleslaw) was nearly $20, which is a bit on the expensive side. The service is spotty. It depends upon who is your waitstaff person (I knew it would be slow based on our previous experience with this person).
