Evacuated to Port Arthur from New Orleans due to Hurricane Ida so obviously we were on a fast food diet for our duration of our trip. After being met with a ton of "We don't have this item", "Our ice cream machine is broke", and inconsistent customer service all week, it was refreshing to go to Firehouse Subs where they actually did have every item they advertised, every staffer was super friendly, and the food was pretty good. This was my first time having Firehouse Subs, I may come back to the local ones in Louisiana now if the customer service is as consistent across all their chains. From a food standpoint, again, good but not great or anything. But I'm giving this specific location in Port Arthur 5 stars for their A+ customer service. Also, a few staffers were cleaning the hell out of their machines and tables and kept apologizing for "being in the way" which was pretty funny seeing that as a customer, especially during this pandemic era, you want to see establishments taking great measures to keep their place clean. I recently tried Firehouse while in Southeast San Antonio. I picked up lunch for my grown kids and grandkids. The food was good and generous portions. The service was friendly and the restaurant clean. It's your basic deli sandwich shop and a good option for a quick to go meal. It's not my favorite deli but I'll return if my kids want it again. read more

I've recently returned to Texas after living on the West Coast for years. While visiting my Mom in Port Arthur she wanted a steak or brisket sandwich. One of the places that came up on Yelp I was not familiar with so I googled Firehouse Subs and was surprised to see 4*-5* ratings from thousands of people. Hmmm. Had to try it out. I ordered a large and small Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket. The large sandwich was huge. Both subs were stuffed. They were absolutely delicious! Very best sub I've ever had! Flavorful. Comfort food that was really satisfying. Mom (she's 93) loved it and had me write down the address so she could ask her visitors to bring her a sub. No more "other sub shops". read more

Hit the spot! Got the Hook & Ladder and it was amazing. I'm too busy eating so it's hard to put anything into words. Love the support they give our firefighters out there. The sub coming with a pickle is great. The bread is a treat in it of itself. Yes..I know you specialize in Subs...but folks are trying to cut back on things like "carbs" and enjoy the goodness inside those subs by requesting it be made into a sale instead, and you offer that! BUT, let's examine that lettuce a lot better...It wasn't pleasant getting a salad today to have rotted salad greens in my salad...rotted food is sorta putrid to say the least...Whoever is suppose to be 'responsible' for making sure the 'greens' in that salad isn't brown, then they need a good talking to cause they're not doing their job...I also noticed there was 'very little amounts' of what should have been the contents of one of the sandwiches, but it was very, very skimpy...was very disappointed...We'll try you out again, but it won't be real soon...I think you might have some 'young eyes' not focused on the best interest of the restaurant sadly! read more

First review for 2016. Been busy.. Firehouse subs is delicious. Happen to be in the area and decided to grab something. First bite was awesome however, it was a long day so I did not finish the sandwich. Lunch the next day I reheated The Ladder and that's were I was impressed. If leftovers taste good then you may have a new place to frequent. Only con I have right now is the service. The staff is nice and pleasant but with amount of people behind the counter you would except a faster turnaround between ordering and eating. I have not tried them at lunch time but I don't think they are any faster. This will be put to the test soon and I will update review. read more

Im an EMT and usually love this place, however today while I was on a long distance call from Houston I stopped at this location and was disappointed with the service, so disappointed in fact that I walked down to chipotle next door and got my food there. When my partners and I walked in the door, there were 5-6 people behind the counter. Not one person greeted us or attempted to take our order, no big deal though, so we proceeded to walk to the register. The owner or manager, although she was on the phone, did not acknowledge us once in the 5 minutes we stood there, neither did the other 5 employees standinh around behind the counter. It was a little packed when I arrived, which is expected from a new place, but they got us all taken care of fairly quickly. For a place to be this busy and not have it together blows my mind. I was in line much longer than expected, nobody knows where the line starts and ends because some people are in line over towards the bathroom and ordering and some people are in line the opposite way and ordering, but there's only ONE cashier during rush lunch hour? It was a disaster ordering, my food (and many others as I saw) was wrong and the employees had this mentality of "uh, I can't help you". I understand that you cannot help me, but please find me someone who can. My name was very similar to the person in front of me and the manager was snarky when I asked if she was asking for me or the person before me, as they had not received their food and I assumed it was theirs. I gave it 2 stars because I LOVE Firehouse subs. However, I've placed orders here plenty of times over the phone/online and it's pretty much pointless. Every time I have to wait in line behind 10+ people just to pick up my food that's already there. What's funny is they have a online/phone register but no one is there 99% of the time and if they are and I skip said 10+ people I get ugly looks from them and the staff. "The Line is down there" What is the point of even ordering beforehand? Why offer it? I've had better experiences at other Firehouse Subs. If you're planning on eating here it's not too bad, the food is good and the drink machine has a good amount of choices. But avoid lunch time and don't bother placing an order over the phone/online. read more

I see many not so good reviews but I had a great experience here. I went at 12pm on a Sunday. Line moved quickly, the mgr. was on register and was extremely fast, informative and accurate in his order taking. Knew every ingredient to every sandwich and asked to clarify if each person wanted all the items on the sandwich. I felt very confident and happy being helped by him. The staff was very nice, they kept coming around checking on everyone. Probably one of the nicest experiences I've had in last 6 months. I had a med. cheese steak. Bread was toasted to perfection. Grilled onions, mushrooms and green peppers were on point. Meat was moist and cheesy. Came with a pickle garnish which was good. I had their broccoli cheese soup too which was bomb. Bathroom was immaculately clean and fully stocked with all needed items. Overall I'd say 4.5 out of 5. Lost half a star because the steak was like the Subway steak, Small already cooked pieces. If they had the uncooked steak that they cook there like at Charley's would of been a 5. Wayyyyyyy better than Jason's Deli and Jimmy John's where you can barely tell them what you want on your sandwich it's made so quick. read more

I have been there three times. Once the second week open. 15 mins to get take out order of one sandwich. Meat piled high and delicious. Second visit was 3rd week open. Same thing. 15 mins but delicious. 3rd visit at 6 weeks open it took 30 mins to get carry out order of 2 sandwiches. A large order had been called in from one of the plants and the guy carried out two shopping bags of sandwiches. When he left, the orders started hitting the floor. This tells me the manager had everyone on that one order, and left all the other patrons hanging. Totally unproffessional. Oh, and my sandwiches only had half the meat on them as when first opened. I will try them one more time to confirm my suspicions. If the meat is not stacked high like when first open, I will not return. read more
