I ordered chips with one of the meals. We had to go back in and ask them to give us the chips . They told us to get the chips with no apoligy. Drove home and opened up my sandwich. I thought I was getting a pepperoni , pizza , meatball sandwich , and there were no pepperonis in the sandwich. If the fast food restaurant was busy, we would not be as irritated. However , we were the only customers in the restaurant to pick up our order. So basically , we almost paid thirty dollars and we did not get what we ordered. The funny thing is that we were told bye the system that once we made the order online it would take this long . But we got there early and they had our stuff ready. This was my first visit to Firehouse Subs and I hate to say that I likely will not return. I usually get my subs from Mikes across the street, but wanted a "HOT" steak and cheese so I went to Firehouse. I ordered on-line and my pickup was to be 1:20. I arrived at 1:18. My subs were ready and I drove the 3 minutes to my home. When I arrived home, I dug right into my sandwich and found that my "HOT" steak and cheese was cold! The temperature was not like it cooled down (which it should not have in the short amount of time from store to home), but like it was refrigerated meat with cheese melted on top. The amount of meat on my sandwich was skimpy. In addition, there were ingredients added to my meal that were not requested and ingredients that were omitted from my other sub that should have been included. Hubby was ok with his sandwich even though it did not have all ingredients (thus the 2 star instead of one star rating). I expected a steak and cheese that was prepared to order but seems to be pre-cooked meat that is "reheated" as ordered. I couldn't even heat my meat in the microwave because who wants "nuked" Mayo? Yuck! If I want a steak and cheese again I will be going somewhere else. read more

the ginger boy and the younger girl that works here were extremely rude, my family and i walked in and immediately they looked very upset and whispered "really" under their breath, we continued to say hello and asked how they were and they just looked at eachother. we had gotten there 20 minutes before closing because we are not from the area and had just drove up from florida, we were going to do takeout anyways but they acted like it was the end of the world. i work at a restaurant and i can understand how frustrating it is to have people walk in before closing but your job is to not show it and make sure your customers have a good service experience. 0/10 do not recommend!! read more

Long-time customer and fan of Firehouse Subs. Bad experience today, hoping not indicative of where this store is heading. Placed large order ($98 and change) on line for pickup. Order included large drinks ($2.99) and when I arrived to pick up, the drink machine was out of Coke. As I was buying for a crowd at my house, I didn't want to guess on a substitute so I asked the cashier to remove the drinks. Unable, he contacted the owner who quickly responded to the restaurant with 16oz bottles of coke to substitute for the 32oz fountain drink i ordered. They told me not to worry about the difference- bottled drinks cost more than fountain (yeah, I know that) but I got 1/2 the drink that I paid for (BTW that bottle of Coke is $2.29 next door at 7-11.) Ordered a steak and cheese sub. Got steak...no cheese. I get it, 7 sandwiches in one order, things happen. So, ultimately not a huge deal but I'll be looking for similar trends during future trips while remembering Jersey Mike's just opened across the street! read more

My husband and I were passing though. We frequent Firehouse Subs in VIrginia Beach and absolutely love it so we thought we'd pop in and grab a quick bite. This one-filthy! Floor has not been mopped in quite some time. Soda machine has splatters all over it. Bathroom has a cup on the floor, unclean toilet and streaks all over the tiled wall. The service was iffy. They girl at the register did not say a thing so I started my order. I expected a "what can we get for you today, welcome to Firehouse"...something. Got nothing. The guy behind the counter shouted "did you almost cut yourself again" which leads me to believe the girl may have cut herself. I hope that none of my food got contaminated. Scary. The food tastes fine (we both got a meatball sub combo with chips and a drink) and it was served hot and fast. The food is why it got 2 stars instead of less. read more

We stop in here every once in a while and the food is consistently good. The service is also welcoming and friendly. Restaurant is nice and clean too. Only big issue is the prices are rather high - $22 for 2 subs and drinks is ridiculous! They need to back the prices down and we'd go more often. The menu offerings are always nice! On our most recent visit to this location (beginning of August, 2015) they had all the bottles of spicy sauces that they normally have, but they were all empty! Why have them out if they're empty? I wish I could give a lower rated. After a few bad experiences I decided to give this place another try since choices in the area is limited. I tried calling four times and there was no answer. I pulled into the parking lot at 7:40pm, the light on the sign was turned off, and the door locked. I saw one of the staff in the back apparently cleaning up to close for the night. I had never tried this place until just a few months ago and I fell in love. I see people complaining about wait times and cleanliness, but every time I go to this location it is clean and the service is good. I absolutely love the steak and cheese it's flavor is SO good, and my hubby always gets the Italian. They don't over stuff their sandwiches with meat, which I know some people love, but I honestly don't. We used to go to Jersey Mike's for subs, but ever since we tried this place out it is our new fave! Yum!! read more

Stopped in at fire house subs on Warrenton Road tonight at 6:55 PM. Three workers behind the counter. Stood as the only person in line for 3 to 4 minutes and was never acknowledged by anyone. A second person got in line behind me, and still no reaction from the staff. I'm good with them finishing whatever tasks they have but make eye contact and greet customers. Love the food, service at this location is lousy! We've placed online orders several times over the past months... out of the seven orders placed 4 were not ready within a reasonable amount ( 10 -15) minutes from designated pick up time. Tonight was the end of eating there... an order was placed for pick-up at 5:45 pm, knowing they often ran late didn't even get there until 6 pm. The ticket hadn't even been pulled if my credit card hadn't been charged already would have walked out.. as it was we had to wait for the entire order to be started and prepared then. Now, I can understand a business being super busy and delays happening. However, this was not the case... the rack was empty.. restaurant was empty and employees just hanging around. Such a terrible experience tonight at Firehouse. I walked in and ordered two sandwiches to go. I tipped their lovely cashier, the only bright spot in this experience. I have been trying to tip, be super patient because i know it is strange times we are going through. After 20 minutes, watching people come and go, I approached the counter. They had lost my order in the six inches between the cash register and the order holder. The person behind the counter apologized, offers us two bags of chips and started making my sandwiches. Or so I thought until I heard the driver say they are picking up their order at 6:13. They made a pickup order and the gentleman's order who was behind me in line. At 30 minutes I spoke to the manager who said they had been busy and I wouldn't have to wait if I ordered online and offered me two brownies. He blamed it on me for not ordering online!! This is a management issue hands down. They had one person working making the sandwiches with the manager in the back prepping. If you are overwhelmed, you put the cashier on food prep and you get in there and you get the food out as a manager. This completely turned me off Firehouse. District managers need to check on management here. I mean it is a SANDWICH for goodness sake!! read more

This place really hit the spot. My daughter and I stopped at Berea Mkt. FIREHOUSE SUBS while traveling from Gettysburg PA to Winterville, NC. WE WERE HUNGRY, and this was the first place we saw. She said FIREHOUSE subs were good, so we popped in. My expectations were fairly low, since I was looking for "Italian food," but I was pleasantly surprised! I had a classic meatball sub and my daughter had the the Hook and Ladder. Both were hot and on our table before we even had a chance to pour our drinks! They were absolutely delicious! MOST IMPORTANTLY, the staff was OUTSTANDING! They really made our visit special! Delmonte, Denzel and Chad were friendly, attentive enjoyable and fun to talk to! The service was mediocre, with the employee having a difficult time getting it right. It seemed to be a lack of training,as she didn't know how to operate the cash register well enough to fix a mistake she made while inputting our order.I ordered wheat bread but we all got white even though I asked twice to make sure. If I were to describe the sandwich itself in one word,it would be chewy. Tough,chewy meat, and tough,chewy bread. If I'm going to pay $30 for 3 subs then I want to be able to use a better adjective than chewy to describe it. I won't be going back. We had a disappointing visit to this Firehouse subs. I asked for white bread, but got wheat instead. The Italian sub had too much ham, not enough salami, etc, and had mayo and spicy mustard, not oil and vinegar. I guess maybe I should be blamed for not speaking clearly enough and for not looking at the menu closely enough, but this sub was disappointingly sweet for an Italian sub. The iced tea had a soapy taste, too. I would give it one star, but I ate all the food so I guess it wasn't that bad, and I have to say the staff there was very friendly. read more

I recently had the King Hawiian Pork & Slaw and MAN!!! It took the top of my head off! That zesty sauce in combonation with the King Hawiian bread, subtly complimented by the smokey flavor of the BBQ pork was the absolutely best flavor combination I have had in YEARS!! I love this sandwhich and am committed to try each and every sandwhich on the menu at the Warrenton Rd. location. So far over the past week I've tried three of their sandwhiches and have found the service fast and accurate. They have never taken over 5 minutes to get my order to me and it is ALWAYS EXACTLY the way I've asked for it. They greeted me as I came through the door and made me feel welcome from the very first moment I arrived. They made suggestions based on their own experience with their product and were knowledgable about all aspects of the process. They offer low cal sandwhiches AND healthy alternatives like salads! Their process doesn't involve grease and oils that can carry bacteria and clog my arteries!
