My family and i took some firehouse subs home one night on our way back from Fort Wayne. Firehouse is my fave subchain for a reason: it tastes great! Subway has nothing on these guys! This facility meets the standard of what you would expect. Things were clean and organized. The two staff were friendly, professional and stayed busy. On this occasion i tried the new pepperoni pizza meatball sandwich. The sub was very large/wide as they flatten the edges to get the meatballs in place. The pepperoni is laid on top and covers the length of the sandwich. The wheat bread is soft and nicely toasted. The marinara sauce is slightly sweet and thicker. They put enough sauce on the sub for taste but not too much to fall off. The meatballs are nothing special...no particular spices. However the whole sub has a pretty strong garlic flavor. read more

Ordered a medium steak and cheese w/mushrooms for lunch as a stop over during a long car trip. Super filling, better than I thought it would be, came with a pickle. Bread was crisp on the outside, sl soft and yummy on the inside. Service: SUPER friendly and informative service. Had all the staff say hello and welcome, which you don't see a lot of these days. I went in during lunch break at work. It was fairly crowded. I ordered a single sub and sat down to wait. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked how much longer it would take, as I only get a limited time for lunch. 5-10 minutes I was told. After another 15 minutes goes by, I'm starting to get annoyed. I tell the person I HAVE to go back to work and he tells me he's finally working on it. He throws my sub on the counter with a lot of attitude. No bag, no napkins for my take out order. I asked for them, to which the guy gets straight up crappy with me, telling me how busy they were. If they had TOLD ME how long it was going to take I'd have gone somewhere else, no problem. But instead I have to deal with attitude from the employee. I told him it was absolute BS and that I wanted a refund. After the guy got crappy with me AGAIN, and told me i couldnt keep the sub, i dropped it on the floor behind the counter. Not that i had any time left on break to eat it. They basically frittered away my 50 minute break just to make me a cold sub for later. Then demanded it back when i asked for a refund. Should I have done it? No. But damn did it fool good after the attitude I was given by the employees here. DO NOT go to this restaurant. Employees are slow, have attitude, are unprofessional, and will straight up lie to your face. I told a few customers that came in how long the wait was, and they all left immediately. Don't mobile order! Places a catering order for lunch under ASAP and my time told me after I placed the order it was going to take 4 hours. I started calling to cancel or see if it would be quicker than the ETA and got no answer for any of my 6 calls. So.....a sub shop born in Jacksonville, FL comes to the South-eastern part of Fort Wayne. This is basically, the home area of the tenderloin sandwich? I'm skeptical, but my curiosity to try a new place so close to home quells the apprehension. As a last side note, I just want to point out that this place has is rumored, to be frequented by a number of both firefighters and police officers. While you're waiting for your sub, either try to act like the police do not see you. Or stop by a table and thank the men and women who are always working hard to keep us safe from the dangers of the doughnut shops. And very rarely get the recognition they deserve. Then sit back and enjoy a kick-ass sub with an icy cold Coke. A few days ago was the first time I had ever paid for a sub at Firehouse. It's an interesting concept because basically it's just a simple extension from Quizno's and Subway but there are two differences. 1. You can't watch them make your sub - Firehouse is in total control. 2. If you eat in the restaurant they bring the sub out to you. (Which is great service compared to other sub chains). I also found it extremely interesting that they offered a variety of probably 50 different hot sauces up on the counter that you could grab and use on your sub. I am personally not a hot sauce guy, and if I were going to use it. I think the last place I would want it to be on is my sub. Especially since it already has oil and vinegar? These are the best subs in Fort Wayne. The difference here is that the subs are steamed, not toasted. They use lots of meat and it's always hot and delicious. I'd eaten at a Firehouse Subs in Texas quite a few times and I was so excited to see that they were opening here. I really talked it up to my wife and I hoped she wouldn't be disappointed when we they finally opened. She wasn't. Since our first visit, she's been hooked. She's working her way through the menu and she hasn't been disappointed with a single sandwich yet. There are hot subs and cold subs. The hot subs are steamed with the meat and cheese or sauce. The cold subs are the turkey or tuna salad type, but the best are the hot subs. They also have Firehouse chili which I haven't tried yet, but looks pretty good. You have your choice of wheat or white bread for the sub. The bread are real sub rolls. None of the flat squished or crusty stuff. When you enter, you are greeted by "Welcome to Firehouse!" by the crew. You go to the end of the counter and place your order with the cashier. The menu is on the wall behind the counter and is also available on the counter in flier form when you walk in. You place your order and you give them your name. After placing your order, it takes 5 to 8 minutes for them to prepare your sub. You can take a seat or go to the most amazing soda machine in Fort Wayne! It's a digital soda dispenser that has a touch screen. You choose the brand of beverage you're interested in (Coke products) and touch the type of beverage you're interested in. This takes you to the next screen and shows you all of the flavors of that beverage that are available. You touch the icon for the beverage you want, and then press the big silver button below it and it starts dispensing your beverage. Very cool, but at times, leads to a line because there are so many choices. Literally there are hundreds of choices for you beverage. After getting your beverage, you can sit at the tables or the counters to the side of the restaurant. When your sub is ready, someone from the team calls out your name and you raise your hand and they bring it to your table. The sandwich arrives nice and hot, but not too hot to eat. The meat used is plentiful and flavorful as well. If your sandwich has cheese, it is nicely melted onto the sandwich. Also, not to be missed are the Firehouse brownies. They're at the register and not to be missed. They're just like your mom used to make, but only bigger. One of the other things you may want to check out is that they sell their 5 gallon pickle buckets for $2. The $2 goes to the Firehouse Public Safety Foundation, that supports emergency support services across the country. Good stuff. read more

It was missing two items and when I called the staff said "we made those subs so I don't know what could have happened with them" I said I don't know but we definitely did not get them ! He had a serious attitude. He then quickly realized one wasn't put in the bag and was still there. We came back to get it. The pro was he said the second sub was his fault as he didn't see the two different subs listed. I told them it was a veggie with no mushrooms that was missing. I even showed receipt. Guess what, they put mushrooms on it! We get all the food home and not a single one was toasted. I don't know if their toaster was broken and they didn't tell their customers or what but they were awful. The bread was so soggy! The bread was mushy and falling off. This review is for the Firehouse Subs on Coldwater Road. My son and I went in less than half an hour before they closed. We explained we needed a minute to look at the menu as we had not been there before. The 2 employees that were working explained everything on the menu and were very helpful and actually acted like they enjoyed being there. Even though they were probably looking forward to closing and going home, they were very nice and didn't rush us - they even asked if we wanted to eat there or take it home. We opted to take the food home. The subs were good and my son LOVED the drink machine - I think it has about 120 options to choose from. Very cool. We will definately be back. read more

I've been to this location before, wasn't blown away, but it was good enough to return. The service was horrible, the staff was not friendly. they didn't greet us when we walked in and when I place my order, the kid just looked at me with a blank stare as if I were speaking a foreign language. To top it off, that same crew member went into the dining room to wipe down the tables. From the time I pulled in the parking lot I was able to tell that Firehouse Subs was like no other sub shop that I had been to before. The front of the building was made of brick giving it the look of an old time firehouse. I was guessing from the name, Firehouse Subs, that the goal was to get that older firehouse look. The bricks were those deep red bricks that have been slightly bleached by the sun over time. At the front of the building there is a cozy cement patio that reaches around the side of the building to the back of the building. There are six metal patio table that line the patio, all with umbrellas bright red exploding out of the center of the table. When I walked in the door every employee grabbed my attention in the way that they all together said, "Welcome to Firehouse," which made me feel really welcome. As I looked at the menu one of the employees asked if I wanted a tour of the menu. I was like sure, why not. The employee enthusiastically touched on what firehouse subs is about, what subs they had, and what options for like bread and toppings that they offered. She also went over there new menu with six new subs and four new salads for under five hundred calories. After the menu tour she said that when I was ready I could step down to the cash register and she would take my order. I looked over the menu and decided what I was going to order. When I started to order I really did not know how to order but I was lucky that she was asking questions to help me through the ordering process. As soon as I started ordering they started making my food. I liked how I could see that my food was being made fresh at the time that I ordered it. They put part of the sub in a steamer and I could see the steam come bellowing out of the steamer cooking the food. I then noticed the bread coming out of the toaster and it looked like a caramel brown toasted color. They then told me that I could take a seat and that they would bring the sub to me. As I sat and waited I looked around the inside of the building. There was a lot of firehouse artifacts scattered along the wall that added to the atmosphere of Firehouse Subs. Looking at the table tops they were all Dalmatian spotted with a bright red borders adding great contrast. The floors were a dark brick like tile which complemented the brick walls. The tables, floors, and walls all looked clean as if Firehouse Subs had just opened. On the wall there was also a mural that stretched about ten feet a crossed the wall and about five feet up the wall. The main part of the mural was a giant fire truck. As I zoned out into the mural I then quickly snapped out as I heard my name called. I shot my hand up in the air and my food was brought to my table. As I looked at the food it sat on the tray steaming hot. The cheese was melted and coming down the side of the sub. I then picked up on of the halves and took a bite. The meat of the sub was super juicy and tasted amazing. The bun was crisp but with the mayo spread on the bun it made it just moist like it should be. I got the beef and cheddar brisket so it was smothered in barbeque sauce as well. The sub tasted great and then I tired the pickle lying next to the sub. It was a great contrast to the hot, steamy sub because it was cold and crisp. The food tasted absolutely amazing. From the employees to the atmosphere to the food Firehouse Subs was an all-around great place to eat. The employee who stuck in my mind the most was McKayla who was the girl that gave me a tour of the menu and helped me through my ordering process. While I was eating she had come out into the dinning room to wipe down tables and the coke machine. The coke machine was also out of this world with its hundreds of choices that it offered. The interior decorations helped add to the experience of feeling like I was in a real firehouse. The food tasted amazing matching the service I had received from McKayla and her crew. Although the food was awesome the reason I will be returning to Firehouse Subs is the service that I received. While I was dining McKayla came to check how the food tasted and I felt as if she was my server so I asked her if she was allowed to accept tips and she responded with the great answer to my question. She said that she is able to accept tips but that since she believes in the public safety foundation so much that she would donate her tip to those funds. She then went on to explain and answer my questions about the public safety foundation. Part of the reason I am writing this is in hopes that she will see this and maybe her boss will to so she can be rewarded for her outstanding work. Since I knew that her tip would be going to the public safety foundation I instead just out it in the box myself but I really hope that she will receive a raise or get a bonus for her over the top hard work that she does that keeps the customers returning to Firehouse Subs. read more
