Well we went to the fire house stove shoppe because we knew where it was , we went in to look to convert or wood fire place to gas , no problem the "owner" Jeffery said and planned a time to come out a do a site visit , first a tech was supposed to come out but it turned out to be Jeffery, ok , but he was almost an hour late for a first thing in the morning slot . The rest of the visit was fine he said they would get back to us in short order . Well I have called three times after 2 months and nothing (well get the quote out by Friday) now another week and my wife calls going hey this is what's going o. What's up? They asked is your CC number this , yes here is your money back click , nothing more not how can we keep your business just take your money and leave us alone !!!. I would highly recommend going some where else very quickly as all you seem to get is the runaround, this is not the way to stay in business especially now .

Wow,... Firehouse Stove Shoppe!!! This is a really great place to shop for one of many fine brands of heating stoves and fireplace's!!! We were helped by staff member Michelle and also owner Jeff Horton which were both extremely helpful and most importantly very knowledgeable. Will be updating this review shortly.

This beauty warms my whole house and especially makes this room our favorite in the house.

    See all

There are 38 reviews on Google where they have 4.4 stars. So what I'm going to do is a three part review on Yelp since my stove isn't scheduled to be installed until April '23. My first review, part 1, will concentrate on customer service, selection and price. John Carol is the manager and he is the person I dealt with for my purchase. Because of their pitiful reviews on Yelp...they weren't my first choice. I actually went to the Somersworth Stove Shop first since their location is very close to where I live. I was NOT impressed with their customer service and their attitude. They apparently have so much business that they didn't seem to care whether I bought from them or not. Red flag alert! ALL these shops are very busy and all are booked solid for months. Some stoves are available sooner but I found they still were all generally booking three to four months out for the higher end stoves. Because of the attitude I got from the Somersworth store, I decided to give the Stove Shoppe in Epping a chance. I was very impressed with their service, honesty and patience. I did ask about their reviews and that's when they directed me to Google. I'll post a screenshot of the google reviews for your convenience. Anyway, the stove I wanted was very popular and it's looking like April will be the soonest they can install. As I said, some of their stoves were available for installation in February/March but I wanted the ceramic coated Harmon and wasn't in a hurry to get something installed for this winter, so the delay was fine with me. I did ask many questions both at the store and via email. John was great...very responsive and so far I feel very comfortable buying from these folks. That's part 1....I'll update with part two once installation is completed. Part three will cover post installation. That's all for now!

When I consulted the manual, it says to call the technician. I called the store, and they gave me the service number. So far, so good. This was on a Saturday (11/6), techs are off until Monday. On Monday, 11/8, I called the service number at 9:39 AM. I was told both techs were busy and given their voice mail. No problem. On Thursday, having heard nothing, I called back and got the voicemail again. Nothing. For kicks, I called on Friday, was offered voicemail, and passed. I called back on Monday, 11/15, and was again offered voicemail. I explained that it was my fourth call without a response, and a hand message was taken. I'm writing this on the evening of Thursday, 11/18, still nothing. I get it -- you're busy. It takes seconds to make a call. You were not so busy that you couldn't take my payment of nearly $5000 for this stove and installation, I think that's worth a follow-up call when I need service. Also, the warranty is for one year, iirc. Makes me wonder if we're playing some game over a faulty design and they don't want to cover it. Wish I could say try another shop, but we chose these guys because the sales experience was the best in the area (a pretty low bar). This frankly, this sucks. Way to live up to that high Epping bar, guys. I'll be calling the Better Business Bureau in the morning.

First we went to show room, picked out our stove. We ordered a Red Vermont Casting Stardance. Mind you we paid $800 more for red. Not problem. We were given an install date in which we were simultaneously trying to coordinate propane install. Then our date change, no big deal. Then the install date changed again. It was now scheduled for Columbus day. Which I had my doubts. I purposely had my husband call the week prior to be sure they were still coming on a holiday day to install the stove. Oh yes they told us, we will be there. So we told propane guy it was a go. Welp Friday afternoon we get a call..... guess what? They aren't coming on Monday. We ONCE again tried to remain patient and we got yet another install date. Very deflating!. But wait, there's more..... they actually arrived on our 4th install date. Stove comes off the truck and its BLACK not RED!!! How disappointing!! So, at this point I want to tell this place to go screw. But, I was once again convinced that they would try to make it right and comp the Red. So another month later, after red was rushed and we were told we were a priority they finally showed up with a Red stove to install. Please take your time, look at the pictures of my ceiling! I want you to get a good look at what $7,000 dollars gets you with an install. I dont want these people anywhere near my house again. We had a horrible experience.

I was working on trying to repair my residential furnace, and decided to call Coastal Mechanical for assistance. I called the office number after my efforts at 3 AM wanting to leave a message to the staff to try and get on the schedule. Coastal does NOT assert on any web page or Google result that the office number is forwarded to the owner after hours. The owner was furious that he was called in the middle of the night for a routine schedule, and he let me know how upset he was on our first call. I very kindly apologized and let him know there was no notification of only calling the office after hours for emergencies. Coastal Mechanical then very expertly replaced my 15 year old furnace in our residential home in Epping NH. The technicians did an outstanding job, and the product is excellent. The cost of the work is slightly higher than competitors, but the result in the home is worth the expense. Post installation, the front office tried to bully my wife and me into cancelling our speaking engagement in Indiana for Veterans Day. The front office bullying to a disabled veteran was both unexpected and unacceptable. Coastal Mechanical did not explain the need for a building inspection or fire inspection from the good people from the Town of Epping and, without any coordination or explanation, they scheduled both the building inspector and fire inspector to come to into our home during our trip and called to tell us when they would be in our home ... not ask, TELL US. FRONT OFFICE: "The fire and building inspectors will be in your home [on this day]." MY WIFE: "I'm sorry, what is this for? That isn't going to work; we're going to be traveling." FRONT OFFICE: "Well, can't you leave your garage door open or the door unlocked?" MY WIFE: "No, we're not here; we can't do that. What is this for, again?" ME: "How does this work? You guys never told us anything about an inspection or even asked us about the dates that would work. We won't be here!" [FRONT OFFICE GIVES THE PHONE TO RICK] RICK (raising his voice and being aggressive): "LOOK, YOU DON"T KNOW HOW THIS WORKS! THESE PEOPLE ARE VERY BUSY!" (wanting me to cancel our plans to accommodate his appointments with the city) ME: "Hey, don't raise your voice to me! This is not okay to just schedule without any explanation or coordination with the homeowner." RICK (now yelling): "I'M NOT RAISING MY VOICE; IT'S NOT OKAY TO GIVE MY WIFE A HARD TIME! WHAT DAYS ARE YOU AVAILABLE?" ME: "This is not okay; this is rude to schedule without asking." RICK (now livid): "RUDE? LOOK, BUDDY, YOU CALLED MY HOUSE AT 3 AM!" (Not true; I called his office number at 3 AM. There was no indication or notice that the call would be forwarded to his house; I thought it would go to an answering machine or voicemail.) I then lit into him for trying to bully my wife, bully me, and being unprofessional. This type of bullying is not acceptable. I feel very sorry for the hard-working men and women in his employment. They must get bullied often if this type of exchange is normal. Reid Reasor, Lt. Col. (Ret.) USAF Disabled Veteran

The day they installed the system and did a pressure test it looked like it had a small leak. I mentioned that to the installer and he said don't ask any questions. They came out several times trying to get it to perform but were unsuccessful. Then a few months ago I was told that the warranty had expired and I should call someone else to get it fixed. I had to use window ac units and space heaters to supplement the system. It kept getting worse each day until now it barely works at all and sometimes turns off with an error code. I'm not trying to use it anymore. I had to buy an infrared fireplace for the bedroom. So far, I can keep the bedroom around 70 degrees but the rest of the house was in the mid 40's this morning. The temperature outside was in the mid-30s. I tried to get someone else to come out and fix it but they do not want to touch a system not installed by them. I am in the process of getting quotes to replace the entire system. I paid a lot for a system that never worked right and Coastal Mechanical is not interested in making it right.
