My husband & I stopped here driving through town. Glad we did, we ordered the nachos which were delish! Shared a combo plate brisket, sausage & fried chicken with Mac & cheese & BBQ beans. So glad we stopped it was awesome!!! read more

Saturday night dinner choice was Firefly's. Best decision! Brisket is amazing and all I can say is FRIED PICKLES! The food and service is always amazing and you know you are going to have a great meal and experience when you are greeted at the door by the owner. To me, seeing the owner means that he isn't afraid to show his face because the place is that good! When the urge for BBQ strikes again, I am heading back! read more

We attended the Father's Day Southern Brunch buffet. What a total zoo! I hope they learn from it for next year. I'm so glad we had a reservation- we were seated immediately. I felt awful for people who were waiting over an hour. From the minute we pulled into the parking lot, we were overwhelmed. So was the staff. The valet guys were all over the place, clearly not equipped for these crowds. They made sure to tell us so. The host was like a deer caught in headlights. The waitstaff was a constant chorus of "Bear with me, it's really busy" and just all over the place. They were sweating and completely out of their element. It was seriously a circus. The restaurant isn't quite 'nice' but it's BBQ fare, and that's fine, I'm not expecting 5 star ambience. But the buffet set ups were terrible- wet plastic plates at the dessert area, empty chafing dishes for the entire time we were there.... I don't know. Like did you not think to plan for a busy day? Does your staff not know how to handle crowds? Did the managers take the day off? The food was good. Really good. Especially the chicken and waffles. read more

I am a fan of this restaurant. It is pretty good. I guess I've been there a hand-full of times I wish, though, that is was different. It seems a lot like many other BBQ establishments, only the food quality is just a little bit better. They doesn't distinguish themselves by having their own "Firefly" flavor. The bar could use some serious help too. It features snazzy cocktails that are just as just as snazzy as any other restaurant (ie. corporate) bar and a very limited beer selection that you can get in just about any other restaurant around here. I guess what I am saying is that Firefly's is no special than most other restaurants you would see in surrounding shopping areas. I wouldn't be surprised if you could found this place in Orlando. I would make it a place to go to more often if it had different stuff than I can get anywhere else. read more

Last minute choice on a Saturday night with kids, good food, daughters steak tips a little underdone for her liking. This was quickly addressed without issue. Very happy with the wait staff, great service. No complaints on this end read more

Good barbecue. Relaxed atmosphere. Nothing fancy but it works. The catering is done well.

This place has definitely gone downhill.. Ten years ago it was amazing...Now it is like a runaway freight train.....soon it will be like a ghost town, and soon thereafter a no man's land.... read more

First time eating food from Firefly's but it won't be the last. Had the Babyback ribs and they were outstanding. Also recommend the fried pickles...yeah I know it's not healthy food but life is too short to go without ribs read more

Everything was tasty and the warm corn bread was incredible!! Took the family there between hockey games based off of two other families who recommend it to us and the place did not disappoint! Kids ask to go back every time where in the area. read more

In a never ending search of bostons best bbq, it has led me to Fireflys a fairly welcome known joint that I have never been to. 2 locations one in marlboro and one in framingham. I was plesently surprised with it. Huge menu, so very tough to make a choice since there are so many items, so I knew I had to get the ribs. 2 styles, st louis (meaty, larger rib) and baby back (smaller, juicer, fatter type); I want with a rack of st louis and a smaller rack of baby back. So many sauces to choose from but instead of serving it on the side they baste in on your meat. I tried the Texas (spicy, and sweet) and the dixie. Came with the most awesome corn on the cob which was grilled and garlic mash. Also came with corn bread. Overall the meal was great, ribs were not dried out and the sauces were tasty, the corn was so good and portions were large. Great type of place to have some beers and relax, informal messy atmosphere. They have a large selection of import beers so I had my Brama. Overall I recommend. Next stop blue ribbon bbq (supposidly the best in boston. 7 out of 10 http://www.fireflysbbq.com/Menu_BBQ.php read more

The food here is so delicious and drinks too. I like the variety of BBQ sauces they have. My ribs literally fell of the bone and the mac and cheese was mouth watering. I will be back!! read more

I love BBQ, and am grateful to have this iconic spot in our city. Memphis ribs are my personal favorite, but it is all good. One of the few restaurants where I can say I have tried everything on the menu. My kids like the smiling fries too. read more

Used to be a standby for us. Went the other night and even though the place was less than half full, service was incredibly slow. Manager and staff seemed harried and unapologetic. Food is still pretty solid and they do rotate in some interesting beers on tap which is great. Apparently the other locations have closed and this is fireflies last stand...I hope they double down and actually fight to stay alive. read more

I don't not write many good reviews however this place has the most outstanding ribs u will ever have . Fall off the bone with fantastic sauce. Excellent sauce, super duper ribs, and also they have a mini bar, they are just the best.

I'd been hearing about the new outdoor patio bar here for a few weeks so when my husband had other plans, I decided to check it out with my friend last night. The weather was perfect and the moon was full so it was an awesome night for sitting outside (no bugs...yay!). We managed to get seats at the bar and was promptly given the drink menu by Karen the bartender. They have a cool assortment of drinks with especially interesting names! I tried one of the margaritas which had some jalapenos in it (I love spicy margaritas!). It was good! The food was also really good. I had a combo that contained some ribs and brisket. You also get to choose your sauce, which I liked because I am not a fan of sweet ones. They have a vinegar based one, but I forget the name--it was good and not sweet, so perfect for me. (Huge order, I took most of the ribs home.) The guy next to us was raving about the wings, which is what my friend had, and she loved them as much as he did. We both got sides of collard greens which I really enjoyed mixing together with the brisket. I also got the homemade chips, because who can resist homemade chips!? After we ate a couple of women we knew just happened to show up, and they challenged us to a round of corn hole. That was a super fun way to round out the night (along with my tasty mudslide expertly created by Karen!). We pretty much closed down the place by the time we finished our game (we won!). All in all a fun night. I'll definitely go back with my husband some time. I know he'd also like the food and atmosphere. read more

This review is more specifically for the waitress I had rather than the quality of the food, atmosphere, etc. And by review I mean rant, and prrrobably a really long one at that.. Just a forewarning. My server's name was Danielle and she was by far the worst server I think I've ever had. With that being said, I'm actually REALLY lenient when it comes to servers and their customer service with me because I was once a server so I know how difficult it can be so I never expect superior service or anything. If I get a sense that you at least tried to be a decent server, I'll tip 25%. If you're better than just decent, the tip goes up from there. This is the first time I've actually tipped only 10% ($4 on a $40 bill) when really I shouldn't have tipped anything at all because she didn't deserve any of my money. But like I said, I was once a server so I know what it's like to get stiffed, therefore I still tipped. Now, onto the actual experience itself: My boyfriend was only in town for a few days visiting and we decided to go to Fireflys for his birthday. It was a last minute decision, one that I regret making. So we get to the table, Danielle greets us, gives us time to order, we order, and everything is fine at first. Somebody else brings us our food (which is fine because I know a lot of restaurants have food runners when the server is busy, at least the restaurant I worked at did). That wasn't the problem. The problem was the fact that she didn't check on us ONCE until we were completely finished with our meals... She's lucky we aren't very needy people because we hate being THOSE people, but still. There were a few things here and there that we wanted to ask for throughout our meal, but she didn't even stop by once. That's not even the real thing that bugged me. There was a table of two guys literally a few feet away from us that she checked on multiple times throughout their visit. Like, RIGHT next to our table, and she couldn't even ask us how we were doing once. So at the end our meal, we wait for her to bring us the check and I have my debit card out and ready because I wanted to give it to her right away so we could get the hell out of there. She comes by with the check and says she'll pick it up when we're ready. With my debit card out, my boyfriend starts to say "Actually, we're already ready-" but before he could even finish, she leaves the bill on the table and completely books it... Like takes off while he's mid-sentence. By then I was beyond pissed. That wasn't even the last straw though. What REALLY did it for me was when she came back with the bill we just paid for and gives us the most insincere monotone "Have a good night" then directly after that, she turns to the table right next to us of the two guys I had mentioned earlier and gives them a MUCH nicer and peppy "Have a great night guys!!!" smiles and everything. I have NO idea why she was 10x nicer to that other table and why she was so shitty to us, but her tip went from being $10 to $4 in no time. END RANT. read more

My boyfriend and I went tonight for our second time. Highly disappointed. Our waiter started out awesome, so down to earth and nice. When he brought us our our appetizer of the nachos with the pulled pork, the whole dish was cold. We asked for it to be put back in the oven, but it was brought back.. still cold. We were shocked at how the portion of nachos was cut down. Not how we remember it. I ordered the southern thanksgiving dinner, which was also cold. The only thing that was slightly warm was the gravy. Delicious cornbread though. My boyfriend got the wings which were good. We really enjoyed the service from our waiter until he kept coming back (about 4 times) to ask us if we wanted to "box it up". At the end we felt really rushed out. It's sad because the last time we came everything was perfect, not sure what has changed. Totally not worth the 40 minute drive each way for us. Doubtful we will come back. read more

We loved this place! The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning again and again!

Not good.. Ordered a veg burger takeout on friday, had the worst burger ever. just had a slice of tomato and 2 rings of onion thrown in, not even a slice of onion and a random piece of lettuce. Had a over powering smell of egg wash tasted horrible. never gonna order again!!! read more

Service was awful, food over priced. Took 30 minutes to get the lunch meal food wasn't very hot in the ribs were very fatty

Sunday brunch was excellent. Make sure you are hungry. Breakfast food, ribs, chicken, brisket, carving station, all the sides, and desert.

Good food, nice place. Also never going back. Sorry. So, first off: It's a good BBQ place with excellent food. It's been one of my favorite local places since I moved here, honestly. They've got good, authentic BBQ, the meat selection is good, and I love the fried chicken (well, you know, except for the gravy. It's very flour-y.) So why the huff and the flounce and the "never going back"? Warning: Boring story about the customer rewards card ahead. They have a rewards card. You get 1 point per dollar spent. When you cross 100 points you get $10 off your next purchase. We get the card on trip #1, because the place is awesome. On trip #3, we cross the 100 mark. (At this point, the receipt says we have 18 points and $10 in credit.) We ask the server whether we get our $10 now, and he says no. We'll get that next trip, because you can't use your $10 discount on the purchase that put you over 100 points. That's fine! So we go back again and 75 more points on the card. (The receipt now says we have 75 new points, 93 in total, and a $10 credit.) But we didn't get a discount! So we ask the server why. And here's where it goes south. This server is not happy with me. She is extremely irritated with me, in fact. Okay, it was the end of the day, and I'm sure she wanted to go home. I get that! But she was terse, angry, and patronizing. "This was the meal that put you over 100 points," she insists. I explain it's not. She immediately decides I'm just not getting it, and acts like all she can do is talk to the manager and see if they would make this GREAT BIG HUGE exception to "give me the $10 now even though 'I only just now crossed 100 points.'" Except the receipt says I have 93 total points, 75 of them are new, and I have a $10 credit. Thus: * I have, at some point, crossed 100 points, because I have a credit. * I clearly did not cross the 100 point total right now, because I have 93 total points, and I would have had to have gained at least 94 in this meal for that to happen. * I guess, they could be going on the theory that I only ever had 18 points on the card. Except how, then, do I have a credit at all? And how, then, would *this* have been the bill that "put me over"? And even though I am polite and meek and utterly uninterested in arguing with the server, she got extremely defensive and curt and acted as if I were fighting with her. (She also didn't bring over the manager, and merely suggested I could hunt her down myself if I were so inclined.) And sure, people are rude little snots all the time, and I'm sure she feels like she has to be firm. But I wasn't being rude. I just wanted to friggin' leave. But if she hasn't been so huffy, and the situation hadn't been so ASININE, I wouldn't be so angry. As it is, this stupid, ridiculous, incredibly minor little detail is going to make me lose one of my favorite restaurants. Boo. read more

So so so so so so so so so good. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. Owner goes around making sure everyone is happy. I had the fried chicken & brisket and my mom ordered the ribs. Sunday noon to 2:30 is BBQ brunch. Yum! Ribs, pulled pork, kielbasa, chicken (smoked and southern fried) with terrific sides all for a decent price. Service was not so great - no one asked if we needed drink refills and paying took a long time. All in all I am a big BBQ fan. For BBQ north of Tennessee this place is pretty good. Though I still think Blue Ribbon in Arlington is tastier. Blue Ribbon has more smoke flavor - more like Texas BBQ rather than just slow cook with a little smoke flavor like Firefly. read more

Contacted Firefly's to cater my wedding. Not only were they accommodating and very kind, they worked with me and my wife to plan out the perfect menu for our reception. People kept on raving about the food for weeks after the wedding! read more

We stopped in last night for a late bite to eat. We had been here before and with the closing of our beloved Uncle Pete's we were ready for a BBQ fix : ) I have always found the service at Firefly's to be very good and the restaurant is clean and well-decorated. Last night my husband had beef ribs and I had the pulled pork pizza appetizer. The pulled pork pizza was delicious! His ribs were good - not tons of meat on them but our dogs will be thrilled with the bones. I was impressed that our waitress gave us extra ribs since we had mentioned that our dogs love bones...plus it likely helped that we were there close to their closing time. My husband is a big collard greens fan and he thinks theirs are great - I would agree that they are yummy. They now have three locations - Marlborough, Framingham and Quincy. I wish they would open a location on the north shore... read more

I got the picnic for 4 for take out. I got the baby backs and Fried Chicken to go with the pulled pork. I personally had the baby backs and Fried Chicken. The Fried Chicken was better than expected, pretty tasty. It was very tasty at home, but it made me want to go back and get it really hot and crispy right out of the kitchen, an excellent seasoned coating. The ribs were good and very meaty, a spec dry in the densest spots which might have been completely washed over if they hadn't forgotten to throw in the extra sauce which was a bit of a bummer, but they were still good and worth it. I got the baked beans, cucumber salad, Mac and cheese, and Collard Greens, and had the Greens, BBQ beans and cucumber salad. I'd say the Cucumber salad really hit the mark, the BBQ Beans were satisfying but a ketchup flavor carried through a bit stronger than I would prefer, and the collard greens were a nice slightly spiced side and good if you like a hearty green. Overall I'd say the quality and quantity was good. I'd say it's worth your time if you're looking for another place to go. The foil platter of meat looked just like it did on the website in the picnic section. I had a 10-15 min drive home, and the aromas in the car made me want to drive faster . . . . something to watch out for, and enjoy. read more

Firefly's has some pretty good ribs and the pulled pork, chicken and sides are tasty as well. The only suggestion I'd offer is that they need to get away from the french fries. I will not go to their Sunday bunch because I am afraid they will have to roll me out of there. The food is so good you will get into trouble. read more

I was disappointed with Firefly's. The service here is excellent- no doubt! However, the food is overpriced and very mediocre BBQ at best. The meat tended to be dry, rather than tender and falling off the bone, or lacking flavor. In some cases, too little meat could be found on the bone. If you're from Massachusetts, you might think this acceptable or even delicious BBQ. However, don't mistake large quantities of food for quality. Anyone who's had good BBQ in the South or parts of the Midwest will have developed the palette to realize that what Firefly's serves up doesn't cut it as authentic or even good quality BBQ. read more

One of, if not THE BEST, spots to go out for dinner and drinks in the marlboro area. Amazing atmosphere, beautiful outdoor setup, fireplaces, tv outside bar, and cornhole. Bands indoor and out. The indoor bar recently renovated and set up is spot on. Pool tables are a nice touch. Great beer selection and solid bbq food. The reason why I dont give 5 stars is because the sides are small and the mensroom was dirty, keep in mind I was there on a very busy Saturday night. If you have not yet been to fireflys, wait until a nice sunny evening and get yourself a table outside. Also very convenient for take out, utilizing parking in front of door for take out only. I cannot wait to go back for more food and fun! read more

Considering the limited choices in the area, pretty good barbeque for dinner or lunch. I like their brunch on Sunday more than their dinner. The bloody mary is uniquely garnished with thick cut candied bacon. The food variety gives choice and hot sauce is good. Overall generally underwhelming service and i was put off that they were charging a cover for local bands to play in the back. read more

My family and I went into Fireflies early Saturday evening. We had no trouble getting seated and a waitress had come to take our orders for drinks less than two minutes after we sat down. I ordered a white pomegranate sangria that was light and refreshing and packed a bit of a punch Since it was fairly early my husband and I decided on ordering a whole bunch of appetizers all came out together and quickly. We ordered the Phantom Platter and 3 sides. The phantom platter boasted to be phantom favorites and the phantom did not disappoint. A large plate loaded with juicy buttermilk chicken tenders, smoky st. Louis ribs, crunchy homemade potato chips, chicken wings, and smoked sliced brisket. We also ordered honey glazed carrots (ehhh, not bad), sweet potato pecan pudding (must have), and red beans and dirty rice(pretty standard) that came with a piece of moist cornbread (yum!) Really good service, delicious food- Prices are very reasonable. For all of this our bill came to right around $40! I highly recommend this place for great BBQ! read more
