Great food, bad service. I went here on 7/1/2017 and the first person I spoke to at the check in was rude. He did not welcome me to the establishment and just gave me a blank stare as I stood in front of him. I did not have a reservation and was told it was would be 30 to 35 minutes. I said okay. I sat down and he rudely asks me "You gonna put your name down? There are a lot more polite ways that that could be said. They found us a table after 30 minutes, they sat me down. As soon as we were sitting down and getting all settled in, they told us we had to move tables because they thought we were a different party of 6. Why does it matter what party of 6 we are and why do we have to move tables instead of having the other party of 6 sit at the table we moved to? The table they moved us to sat in the front of the room with 2 tables of different heights placed together. The air conditioner was on full blast and we were freezing. While the other table was in the center of the floor and was away from the air conditioner and was 1 single table. You moved us to the worst spot in the house. No guest should be forced to move after being seated and especially forced to sit where we were sat. We spent $230 at this restaurant and we were treated horribly. This is the 3rd time ordering from this restaurant and the first time dining in. Also we saw the owner greet everyone else but us. He walked past us multiple times while we were waiting and he was saying hi and thanks for coming to everyone. Great food does not outweigh the bad service. read more

Love Firefly's the food is always amazing, atmosphere is beautiful. Love this place would highly recommend. Even better when Covid is over and they can have bands again. read more

OMG! The BBQ here is amazing. We loved everything from the ribs and brisket to the fried chicken. We recently moved from Virginia to MA and wasn't sure when we moved here if we would find good BBQ. We have tried lots of BBQ in the South including the famous Myron Mixin. Firefly's is hands down better than Myron's BBQ. The service was awesome. Not only was the waitress very attentive but the owner Steve and another manager stopped by our table several times. When they found out it was our first time there there provided samples of the fried chicken and the sausage so we got to try almost everything on the menu. The ribs, wings, brisket and fried chicken were all delicious. And the sides too - really good Mac and cheese and collard greens. We can't wait to go back. read more

always recommend great food and staff...everyone is friendly and hospitable, great music inside and outside!!

Waiters and waitresses are always ready to get you anything you need and are always fast about it. Food is amazing for a quite inexpensive BBQ place. At the outdoor deck they have options to eat at a fireplace or a table and there is a pair of cornhole boards set up so you can play cornhole while you wait for your food. 10/10 read more

Restaurant was able to accommodate our large party of 40. The food was excellent and quick service . Our hockey team loved it

This was my wife and mine 2nd time going here. We absolutely love the food and the service. We had the privilege of meeting the owner this evening. I must say he is one of the realest people I've ever met. Considerate and stroll around asking the customers how's their food and is everything okay? That's something you never see anywhere. We drive an hour and a half just to enjoy the food and hospitality. The food is absolutely amazing. I would recommend anyone wanting great BBQ then this is a definite destination you absolutely have to make a point to go too. read more

The best dining experience out I have had since able to eat out over COVID. I have never been more comfortable. From the host stand to service to managers checking. The place is so very clean! Sanitizer everywhere, face coverings in place, glove use. I can not stress enough how much it excelled at keeping everyone safe! Thank you to Gerry who was our server. Great recommendations, friendly, hospitality was far above! Good was great, hot fast and tasty!Great job to Steve and his team! Keep up the amazing work! This should be standard everywhere! read more

Just a shout out to Firefly's BBQ - we've been there before for amazing BBQ, and this was the first time we'd been there since COVID. There was a really well-thought-out entry process (both for parking and for getting into the restaurant, the tables were definitely far enough apart, everyone was masked and gloved. And the food as always was absolutely delicious! I'm immunocompromised right now, so it's been a bit of a research project to find places that are following, or exceeding guidelines. I felt very comfortable there, and it felt good to see that the staff and guests were protected. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing barbecue and staff. Get the brisket bowl. And dont worry about sanitation /cleanliness, the staff keeps everything very clean and well organized! read more

Super great experience. The safety protocols they have in place during this pandemic at top shelf from pulling into the store lot through the end of dinner. Ribs and brisket were ordered and so enjoyed by all. The cornbread was over the top delicious, super moist and tasty, I could have had that as my entire meal. One of our party ordered a veggie burger which she said was delicious delicious. She has had some of the newer veggie options, the new plant based ones, which she hates. She was so happy that Fireflys is staying with the bean burger option. We actually had either the owner or manager come to the table for some small talk and thanked us for visiting.. with them meal that we all enjoyed we should be thanking him!! read more

Great meal last nite. Safe environment & birthday was acknowledged with comp dessert. Good service too.

I walked out after setting at the table for a long time and getting passed by several servers who didn't even offer to take my drink order. I was really looking forward to trying their brisket. read more

We just went to Firefly's on their first night of indoor dining. The seating was spaced out, the restaurant was clean and they took all the right pre-cautions. The waitstaff was friendly and service great! Steve the owner stopped by our table to see how everything was, he is very nice and doing an amazing job!! Ribs and steak tips were great as well. We will be back soon :) read more

My daughter and I took my husband to Firefly's for Father's Day and it was wonderful. It was one of our first restaurant experiences since the pandemic and they were on top of everything. Everything was very well organized and they made every effort to make us feel comfortable and reassured. The food was excellent as it has been for the last 19+ years. When the owner, Steve stopped by our table, I shared with him that my second child (now 18) was a scheduled C-section. Knowing that I wouldn't get to eat for a long time, Firefly's was my choice of food the night before. In all these years, we've never had a bad experience or any food that wasn't delicious. Great food, great staff, great service! read more

Great place! Due to the pandemic we had a hard time finding a place for a celebration of life for a family member's recent passing. Lucky Firefly's was able to safely accommodate us! The owner was wicked friendly, constantly walking around and checking up on us. All the waitstaff were very attentive and again, wicked friendly!! Food was amazing (ribs, pulled pork, chicken, potato salad, mac and cheese, veggies, cornbread) and we loved atmosphere on the patio. read more

Our first foray post lockdown was excellent! Safety protocols were amazing, from beginning to end. Food was awesome (brisket / fried chicken) and service by Shaw was good. Owner made a point to thank us for coming in. Can't wait to go back again. read more

What a outstanding experience. The food was great. The babyback ribs were slow cooked with just the right amount of smoke flavor. The brisket was served naked (which I believe is best) with ample opportunity to apply the sauce of your choice. The service was great with the owner Steve making sure the dining room full of guest were content and well taken care of during their visit. Prices were on par with like BBQ joints and portion sizes were generous. If you still have room for dessert I highly recommend the Smore Cake. Outstanding. This place can get busy quickly so arrive shortly after they open to guarantee yourself a prime booth. Even with a few people waiting to be sat upon our departure everyone was quickly taken care of by the owner himself. I can't believe I have not been to FireFly's before but I am sure we will return soon to sample the other selections from the menu. Thanks FireFly's nicely done! read more

Firefly's BBQ - Smore Cake. Seriously good. - Barbeque Near Me - Marlborough, Massachusetts

I made my 2nd visit ever to Firefly's over the weekend; this time, with my wife's family. Talk about knocking it out of the park. Every aspect of the service and meals was incredible. I got the jumbo wings again, and I nearly cried at the delectable heaven they put me in. For an entree, I got pulled chicken with cornbread stuffing and mac n cheese...mmmm. If I were to be served my last meal before death, that would be it. Bonus points: throughout our meals, we were visited by the owner, Steve, Three times! Talk about someone who loves his business, his customers, and his employees. He made us feel like privileged company as we enjoyed his delicious food and drink. I didn't want to leave! The entire experience makes being anywhere else feel like just another restaurant because there is only one Firefly's and its AMAZING! read more

What a great place. We drove 2.5 hours to have BBQ and it was worth the time. Gina our server was full of energy and was very attentive to our entire family. The food was very very good. We had fried pickles, burnt ends, smoked wings to start. Brisket, pulled pork, waffles and a burger all of which were also fantastic. Oh and the sweet potato pecan pudding is crazy food. read more

Mediocre bbq food. I wanted to love it because I love a good bbq joint but they just don't have it. I was hoping for a great Mac and cheese but it just tasted like store bought, nothing special.. the patio area is amazing but the food needs to be better to come and enjoy read more

I have booked several events for company parties at Firefly's. The large room with the pool tables and bar are perfect for a friendly, fun holiday party. Everyone loves the barbecue food. Once we are finished eating, there is always a rush to fill up to go containers. Everyone has a favorite food. Firefly's chef's have also been accommodating in preparing a specialized order of turkey and gravy for the childcare center that I direct. Each year at Thanksgiving they are ready at 11 am on a weekday to provide turkey and gravy for 100 children and 40 adults. If you like barbecue and fun. This is the place to go. read more

This is by far the best BBQ place around the area. We showed up tonight and it was pretty busy. Our waitress Gina deserves 5 stars for the service. It was very busy there tonight and she was nothing short of amazing. She deserves some praise for that. The food was very good and so wasn't our smores cake for dessert. We will be back again and again and again. 5 stars all around! read more

Place is pretty good. I got the ribs and chicken, the ribs were delicious especially with the Memphis bbq sauce. Chicken was alright. My gf got the fried chicken and waffle which came with white gravy and maple syrup, which was bomb. And finally my daughter got a kids plain pizza and it was one of the better pizzas I've ever had. I would highly recommend the ribs and pizza. read more

Fairly inconsistent bbq, big menu with lots of choices. Beautiful patio, plenty of space. Have had many meals here and when it's good it's 4 stars, but when it's bad it's closer to 2 stars, hence the 3. Prob my favorite overall bbq experience in the area though. Burnt Ends with horseradish and the sweet potato pudding are standouts... oh and the nachos are great if you like old-school 90s style. read more

We had a group over after my daughter's wedding & Fireflys catered the meal. We ordered the bodacious buffet with a couple extra sides. The food arrived on time & hot. Everything was delicious--no complaints on anything. The group is still raving about the mac & cheese, cucumber salad & meats! They brought the plates, napkins & silverware so the only dishes we had were serving spoons. I highly recommend them for any group & wouldn't hesitate to call them again. Pam was a pleasure to work with setting up the arrangements. Thank you to all who made this a great party!! read more

There really wasn't anything spectacular about Firefly's in Marlborough, not on a Wednesday night anyway. The pulled chicken was okay, though not particularly moist or flavorful. The garlic mashed potatoes were okay. The cornbread was -- yeah, again -- okay. I'll give them this much -- the french fries were tasty. Our waiter was a bit distracted and repeatedly forgot my friend's request for extra sour cream. And the sour cream was strangely gray in color. And the freebies at the (can you call it a salad?) bar were just plain odd. Peppers and pickles and chunks of assorted condiments? C'mon, give us a salad bar, fer Crissakes. Overall, a "meh" kind of experience. We'll try somewhere else next time. Too bad, really, because I've had Firefly's catering and it was all good. read more

super loud, not very clean, dessert came out raw, and food was touched over as they placed it in the table

Disclaimer: This review isn't even about the food because I refused to stay in the restaurant long enough to try it. When Firefly's had a location in Quincy, I went a few times and was pleased with the food, so the location and its reputation had stuck with me. I am now in the middle of planning a private event with a bbq menu and thought Firefly's would be perfect as they had the space and of course, the menu. I emailed a few times this past week with Renee, the catering assistant, and she sent me great information, but I wanted to check out the Marlborough location before booking since I had never been there before. I asked her if there was anyone I should get in touch with when I visited this weekend and she said Melissa, the general manager would be in today. We arrived around 4:30 and the restaurant didn't seem terribly busy. I asked the hostess to speak with Melissa and after explaining the chain of events (planning a private event, been in talks with Renee, was told to ask for Melissa), the hostess went to get her. When Melissa arrived at the front, she looked visibly annoyed and did not even greet me. *I* had to extend my hand and introduce myself and explain again why I was there. She very reluctantly shook my hand and after hearing Renee's name said, "You talked to RENEE," as if she had no reason to talk to me given that I had already talked to another member of Firefly's staff. She then sharply told me that she "was in the middle of a meeting right now and [the hostess] could show me the space" before turning and leaving. At this point I was quite taken aback by what, to me, felt like blatant disrespect. I recognize that Renee may not have told you to expect me or your hostess may not have explained what I told her, but I was very open about why I was visiting and was nothing but polite, even after being given the once-over (rude) and was not asked how I could be helped today. The hostess brought us into the private space and explained the features and capacity of the room before turning and leaving herself, so now we were alone in the room with no one to answer any questions we had. We stood for a few minutes trying to move past the interaction and discuss if the space would work for our event and in that time, Melissa walked into the space, past us and toward her staff seated in the back hallway, said something to them and then turned back to us. We made eye contact with each other and she continued to walk out of the room and over to the bar where she stopped, in view, to speak with the bartender. This was the last straw for us and we promptly turned to leave, crossing the venue off our list of options. I am honestly APALLED at how we were treated. Without knowing how large our intended party is or what catering package we were considering, Melissa literally let thousands of dollars of revenue walk out the door and hopefully this Yelp review adds to it. Whether or not you were expecting someone to ask for you by name tonight, as a general manager in a customer-service driven business, SMILING and asking "How can I help you today?" would've gone a LONG way -- not to mention that a meeting at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon (arguably just before your biggest meal of the week) seemed a little fishy. I'd believe it (because I don't know everything about the restaurant business, of course), but when she walked past us again to speak with the staff and then ignored us to go lean over the bar and have another conversation, that was inexcusable. If she had apologized for not being able to speak with us directly or had explained her meeting would be over in X minutes if we had any questions, I wouldn't be writing this review. I have literally never been so disgusted with a restaurant's customer service in my life. read more
