I've cone to Firefly's multiple times. I've always had a positive experience. My family and I had dinner here last night for my birthday and we were very happy. Great food. Good drink specials. (GET the Topless Melons!) I had the Southern Fried Chicken with mac and cheese and collards. The collards are tender with good chunks of brisket and bacon throughout which is a delicious compliment to the vinegar Britney taste of the greens. The chicken had a great crust and was juicy. Only criticism is it seemed my food may have waited under a heat lamp for a few minutes because of a vague shell of cheese that had formed around my macaroni. (I used to work in a kitchen as a Line Cook. Doesn't take long to happen.) My Server was pleasant and if it weren't for me being stuffed was going to send me with a Birthday treat. (Thank you) Overall, good experiences every time. Great hot sauces. The burnt ends are delicious, and so is the complimentary cucumber salad. We went here for Valentine's Day. We were looking for a somewhat healthier alternative. We both got half chicken with corn bread, green bean, cucumber salad, mashed potato's, and pan seared veggies. We were so impressed with our waiter. The food was super hot when brought to table (who likes cold food?). The cucumber salad was to die for. Mashed potatoes were also delightful. Both the green beans and veggies tasted fresh and well seasoned! I would recommend to anyone. It was such a nice lunch. read more

Our first experience at Fireflys was not the greatest, however it may have just been a tough night because after making a review on here, the owner contacted me and offered us a gift card to come try it again. A friend and I trekked out to Marlborough to eat at Firefly's. I am arranging a class for one of my guilds in Marlborough in October and I need a restaurant with good, affordable food that will be able to accommodate a group of 15 to 20 diners. I need to look no further! The food was good. Barbecue is not my favorite cuisine, but I was happy with my blackened salmon and the sides were excellent. I think the next time I might just order 4 or 5 sides and skip the meat. However, the best part of the experience was our server, Olivia. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, happy to help without being intrusive. When I make the reservation for the group dinner in October, I plan to ask if we can have her as our server. read more

I come to this restaurant about once a year with my family, because it's my dad's favorite place. It's not a place I'd choose on my own because of dietary restrictions - But each time I've gone, the waitstaff has been beyond accommodating. Best BBQ Ribs!! Great place ... restaurant and bar ... and Dante's nightclub with great live music every weekend and pool tables. My boyfriend& I have been here once before together. We had found out that they had redone the bar area, and went to go grab some food& drinks and check it out. We sat at the bar, and waited a decent time to be greeted, once greeted we were waiting to order drinks. A server told one of the bartenders that we looked like we needed something. We ordered our drinks and an app. The app came out and we had no plates/ silverware. The bartender had them in his hand but was talking to the manager while we had food in front of us and nothing to eat it with. We ate the app, and the plates were cleared but we were never asked if we wanted more food. Finally we grabbed the other bartenders attention... there was maybe 6 other people at the bar. And I ordered a house salad with BBQ pulled pork and my boyfriend ordered a side of greens. Our waters were empty the entire time, and finally we were asked about 20 minutes later if we needed anything and we politely asked if our food was ready.. A salad which takes minutes to make, pork which is pre made and collard green, again pre- made.. should not take that long to make on a slow Monday night. The manger brought it over and had nothing to say to explain the delay. Overall, food was good- croutons were stale and pork came out Luke warm. Our app was very good. My biggest problem was the service we received, from bartending staff and management. read more

The only reason why this place gets 4 out of 5 stars? It is always so busy that I can never get a table right away! THey are only open for dinner. ( I believe the Framingham location is open for lunch) so it is pretty busy! It's a nice restaurant - a little small and the parking lot, well, sucks! The service staff are great though. All the food is good! The cracklin' bread... the fried pickles even! Burgers are great if you're not in the mood for a huge rib platter. Their Jamaician jerk chicken is good too! Take out there is great too. The only time we had an issue, it was resolved within 5 minutes over the phone. read more

Bummer. A few years ago, Firefly's was a pleasant surprise....good southern cooking that truly tasted homemade. Weekend nights were crowed, but the menu of comfort food prepared with a flair made the wait worthwhile. But now....yuck! We should have been worried when there was no wait at all. My wife and I went there with another couple and the food was awesome. The Combo was a great way to introduce our friends to the different BBQ yumminess. The BBQ sauce bar is full of their own creations and the hot sauce rack next to it chock full of all my old favorites that I can use to kick it up a notch... My recommended items: * Firefly's Wings * St. Louis Ribs * BBQ Chicken * Jamaican Chicken * Sweet Potato Pecan Pudding * Banana Bread Pudding My wife and I had been to this location once before and everything was so good we had to bring some friends. I'm a smoked meat afficianado and am not easily pleased. Firefly's is first rate dry rubbed, slow smoked barbecue. My favorite is the baby back ribs. When ribs have this much great smoked flavor, I prefer them dry (without sauce). Steve, the owner closed his other two locations to concentrate on the Marlborough place and, as a result, the service and food are consistently first rate. Some of my favorites: Burnt Ends - Ultra flavorful brisket (try it without sauce). Candy Laquered Bacon - I'm salivating just writing the words Jalapeno cheese cornbread - Flavorful, not too hot - seldom done right at other restaurants. Sweet Potato Pecan Pudding - This is a side dish (most entees come with choice of two sides) that's unique and wonderful. It's just short of being a dessert. Service is friendly, and helpful. Steve, the owner is usually there to greet you. You'll find him warm, funny and great with your kids. read more

My most recent visit to Firefly's was an extraordinary pleasure. If you haven't yet tried Firefly's, you are in for a treat. Three of us got racks of ribs, and one of us had the pulled pork. While the pulled pork sandwich looks smallish, it is stuffed with meat and has a great flavor. Both the baby back ribs and the St. Louis ribs had good bark, good flavor, and just the right amount of tenderness. The ribs were firm enough to stay together, but came apart easily without biting into them. Without any added sauce on them, they are good enough, which means a lot. As for the service, our server was Liz, and she did a very good job for us. We arrived at 1:55 PM, and the dining room had nine tables seated. We got our order in at 2:10 PM after much deliberation, but the food was delivered 12 minutes afterward, and it was appropriately hot. Liz was attentive with us, kept our drinks filled, and checked in on us several times throughout the meal. I am not entirely sure, but a man that appeared to be the owner walked around the room talking to patrons and checked in with us as well. I think having the owner present does wonders for delivering consistent quality of food and service. On a separate note, this last visit was our third time at Firefly's Marlborough. I have noticed each time that there appears to be general confusion at the host station regarding the seating chart and what tables are open. Each time I've been there the handling of guests from entry to a table has not been as smooth as it should be for a room that size. They have always seemed to be adequately staffed so there is no shortage of servers. I think the manager and host/hostess need to work on their coordination a bit - this can definitely be improved. I have a family of four, so the cost/value aspect is important to me. We didn't order extra appetizers or sides, just the entrees and fountain drinks. The fountain drinks are approximately 32 ounce size, and refills are free. Our meal came to $128 that included a 20% tip, and I think that's a great value considering we had 3 racks of ribs and took leftovers home. A couple of other parting shots: 1. There is a self serve pickles/condiments bar that is unusually tasty. 2. The fried chicken at Firefly's is done very well - I highly recommend it. 3. On other visits I've had the burnt ends appetizer - one of the best items on the menu. read more

Had reservations for mothers day. Arrived to total chaos, running 45 minutes behind schedule, unruly line, exceeding rude hostess, totally frazzled and yelling. Breakfast items were cold, Eggs Benedict were coagulated... Items were sold out, or non existant...fish cabbobs, lobster bisque. Ribs overcooked and dry. Buffet most definitely quantity over quality. If you're looking for a Sunday brunch spot, this is it. Fantastic selection of BBQ meats (ribs, pulled pork/chicken, burnt ends, brisket, etc) plus the best southern style friend chicken I've had in New England, all the sides, but especially the sweet potatoes, corn bread and mac & cheese. As for the breakfast items, you can expect to find belgian waffles (for your fried chicken) pancakes, crispy bacon, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, and a wide array of fresh fruit. The times i've been there they've done a fruit theme that is carried between the breakfast and desert options. Blueberry pancakes and blueberry pie, or strawberry ice cream and strawberry waffles. There are several desert options as well. The waitress service is friendly and fast. You could leave your table with a drink that is 1/3 full and when you get back it will be freshly refilled. They serve the soda in those 40oz plastic cups people my age remember from the Pizza Hut dining room days. read more

My wife and I have been here multiple times (before kids) and have always had a great experience. We usually get the 3 meat dinner and get an appetizer as well. The deck so awesome too!!! However, this time we brought our 6 month old twins and things did not go as smoothly as we had hoped. Firefly's is still kickin it, even with all the covid issues! They have people directing traffic when you enter the parking lot and they check your temperature before you go inside. Inside, there's lot of space between tables and the wait staff are all masked and gloved up. Everyone is really friendly and professional. They've gotten rid of the big plastic menus for paper placemats which is a major improvement in my opinion. Now that I got all the housekeeping out of the way... the food is as great as ever! I had the brisket and my wife had the pulled pork and they were both as good as we remember. My only criticisms were they no longer offer the complimentary cucumber salad (THANKS A LOT COVID!) and the cracklin bread isn't on the menu. We had Vickie as our server and she was excellent! I'm glad i don't live closer because i'd spend way too much time there. read more

Stopped here today for lunch before a meeting. What a great restaurant/bar. We ate in the bar because the dining room didn't open until 4:30. You will notice the attention to detail right away. Nicest barstools around, cell phone charging ports on the front of the bar, tvs everywhere, super friendly bartender and delicious burgers.
