First time eating here and we walked away satisfied. We went on a Friday night and it was busy, but we were seated quickly and service throughout the meal was good. As for the food, i would put it in the standard BBQ category. It was well cooked and had decent flavor, just really not my kind of BBQ. I really prefer a BBQ that is not smothered in sweet tomato BBQ sauces. And that is pretty much what we got here. We ordered the Pulled Pork platter and an order of ribs. The ribs were good, but too sticky for my taste. And the pulled pork was a nice big portion of well cooked pork. Nice and tender with some of the good bark from the outside served over white bread (just how it should be). But it too was mixed with way too much sauce. That is all i tasted was the sauce, not the pork. So decent, but i would prefer a dry rubbed rack of ribs and a pile of pork that i can add my own sauce (and I prefer the spicy vinegar version myself). The sides were quite good. The mac and cheese was good (and happy to see...homemade). Even better with the pulled pork ontop. The Sweet Potato pudding was very good as were the garlic mashed potatoes. But the best was the cucumber salad. Overall was good. just lay off the sauce and i would have been much happier. read more

Great midwestern barbecue hidden away in Massachusetts. Had ribs of course, perfectly cooked and smoked. My favorite sauces were the Memphis and Dixie Kiss. Cole slaw and barbecue beans were both good as well. Banana cream pie for dessert was fabulous! I've cone to Firefly's multiple times. I've always had a positive experience. My family and I had dinner here last night for my birthday and we were very happy. Great food. Good drink specials. (GET the Topless Melons!) I had the Southern Fried Chicken with mac and cheese and collards. The collards are tender with good chunks of brisket and bacon throughout which is a delicious compliment to the vinegar Britney taste of the greens. The chicken had a great crust and was juicy. Only criticism is it seemed my food may have waited under a heat lamp for a few minutes because of a vague shell of cheese that had formed around my macaroni. (I used to work in a kitchen as a Line Cook. Doesn't take long to happen.) My Server was pleasant and if it weren't for me being stuffed was going to send me with a Birthday treat. (Thank you) Overall, good experiences every time. Great hot sauces. The burnt ends are delicious, and so is the complimentary cucumber salad. We went here for Valentine's Day. We were looking for a somewhat healthier alternative. We both got half chicken with corn bread, green bean, cucumber salad, mashed potato's, and pan seared veggies. We were so impressed with our waiter. The food was super hot when brought to table (who likes cold food?). The cucumber salad was to die for. Mashed potatoes were also delightful. We've become regulars here, although mostly for take-out since we have two little ones and live so close. The good: Almost everything, the food is very good. We haven't tried anything we do not like yet and we've covered a lot of the menu. The BBQ is great, as you'd expect, with excellent smoky flavor to most of their dishes and some really, really good sauces. They also have an out-of-this-world AYCE buffet on Sundays that is just awesome. A great selection of BBQ meats and sides, as well as breakfast items. The bad: Not much, although we have noticed a few inconsistencies in their food when taking it to go. There have been a couple times that items are missing ingredients as pointed out in the menu or made differently than the time before it. There prices are a little on the high side, but I've never minded paying a premium price if I know the food will be good. Overall a good spot, and definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. read more

A friend and I trekked out to Marlborough to eat at Firefly's. I am arranging a class for one of my guilds in Marlborough in October and I need a restaurant with good, affordable food that will be able to accommodate a group of 15 to 20 diners. I need to look no further! The food was good. Barbecue is not my favorite cuisine, but I was happy with my blackened salmon and the sides were excellent. I think the next time I might just order 4 or 5 sides and skip the meat. However, the best part of the experience was our server, Olivia. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, happy to help without being intrusive. When I make the reservation for the group dinner in October, I plan to ask if we can have her as our server. read more

Just got to sit on their new outdoor patio/lounge area. It felt like being at a fun resort, with outdoor bar, big comfy sofas, and even two (gas) fireplaces. I come to this restaurant about once a year with my family, because it's my dad's favorite place. It's not a place I'd choose on my own because of dietary restrictions - But each time I've gone, the waitstaff has been beyond accommodating. My boyfriend& I have been here once before together. We had found out that they had redone the bar area, and went to go grab some food& drinks and check it out. We sat at the bar, and waited a decent time to be greeted, once greeted we were waiting to order drinks. A server told one of the bartenders that we looked like we needed something. We ordered our drinks and an app. The app came out and we had no plates/ silverware. The bartender had them in his hand but was talking to the manager while we had food in front of us and nothing to eat it with. We ate the app, and the plates were cleared but we were never asked if we wanted more food. Finally we grabbed the other bartenders attention... there was maybe 6 other people at the bar. And I ordered a house salad with BBQ pulled pork and my boyfriend ordered a side of greens. Our waters were empty the entire time, and finally we were asked about 20 minutes later if we needed anything and we politely asked if our food was ready.. A salad which takes minutes to make, pork which is pre made and collard green, again pre- made.. should not take that long to make on a slow Monday night. The manger brought it over and had nothing to say to explain the delay. Overall, food was good- croutons were stale and pork came out Luke warm. Our app was very good. Lots of different sauces available. From memphis to NC to SC to texas etc. My favorites were the texas and one of the carolinas that had mustard in it. The four of us (hungry 21 year old guys) were feeling ambitious so we got the picnic for 6. We didn't finish it. The sides were great, we had mac and cheese, corn bread, and more cornbread. The brisket was perfect. I didn't like the chicken but i never do. The ribs came out a little dry and too salty for me. I've bought better ribs. My friends have smoked better ribs and I've made better ribs. With all the hype, I was a little disappointed. I can only give firefly's 3 stars. read more

The Sunday brunch here is delicious, but priced such that you'll need to eat an unhealthy portion to get a great value. Lots of ribs, fried chicken, fried scallops, beef stew, mac and cheese, rice and beans, as well as traditional breakfast offerings such as eggs, french toast, muffins, etc. I was well satisfied after a single plate that included 3 or 4 of the above, but felt that since my bill was going to come to $50 (two of us), I had better force another serving down. Not the healthiest food either, so this will definitely be a "once every few months" type of feast. As for the dinner menu, it's standard BBQ fare. I'd rank this first out of the competitors I'm familiar with (Tennessee in Framingham, Texas in Marlborough), but it's also most expensive of the three. Very inconsistent. Sometimes the food is great, sometimes it's really weak. There's not alot of BBQ places around so I end up goign here alot anyways though. The problem is I never know what I'm gonna get when I order. Sometimes I get the fried chicken and it's perfectly crispy and juicy and sometimes it's have soggy breading a dry chicken. Sometimes the mac and cheese will be gooey with a nice crust, sometimes it's be watery and unpleasant. Sometimes the nachos will be loaded with stuff with cheese on every chip, sometimes it's badly put together with hardly any cheese at all. Sometimes the ribs are big and juicy, sometimes they're tiny and overcooked. I have rarely had anything there that was amazing or bad every time. There are just two exceptions. Their pizza is great with the royale with cheese pizza being one of the better cheeseburger pizzas I've had. The actual burgers though are always underwhelming and one time I ordered i medium rare and got it burnt to a crisp. I sent it back and the next one was better (though not great) but now they had burned the bacon to a crisp. I'm just not gonna get burgers there anymore I guess. When the food is good, it's a very good place and the service is quite nice as well. It's just overall I wish it was consistent which is one of the keys to a truly great restaurant. read more

First timer here :) I wish the place was open for lunch, but once my partner and I went inside, we had a wonderful experience. We were greeted by a couple of friendly hosts and brought to our table. Our server, Hannah, was super sweet and made some great suggestions, like trying the side of Mac n cheese. The food was delicious- I got the jerk chicken with Mac n cheese and potato salad. Everything was very tasty and I'm glad I tried something different. My partner got the pulled pork sandwich with fries which was great and he enjoyed that he could pick the sauce that came on it. Overall, the cooks did a wonderful job! We also had the chicken tender appetizer and enjoyed trying all the different bbq sauces they had. Definitely a good time overall. I am a Texas transplant living in Hudson and I have found my place!!! I have been looking endlessly since I arrived in July for a place that tastes and feels like home, I have finally found it! (They actually have sweet tea!!!!!!!!) The BBQ is amazing, it ranks right up there with some of the best of not better than what I have had in the south. Try the burnt ends, they were delicious. The owner, Steve, is a great guy! He made his way around the dining room multiple times while we were there ensuring every customer was enjoying their meal. He really knows what he's doing and brought all the right stuff back from his years in Memphis. Fantastic selection of BBQ meats (ribs, pulled pork/chicken, burnt ends, brisket, etc) plus the best southern style friend chicken I've had in New England, all the sides, but especially the sweet potatoes, corn bread and mac & cheese. As for the breakfast items, you can expect to find belgian waffles (for your fried chicken) pancakes, crispy bacon, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, and a wide array of fresh fruit. The times i've been there they've done a fruit theme that is carried between the breakfast and desert options. Blueberry pancakes and blueberry pie, or strawberry ice cream and strawberry waffles. There are several desert options as well. The waitress service is friendly and fast. You could leave your table with a drink that is 1/3 full and when you get back it will be freshly refilled.
