Firefly's is THE place to go! I have been telling people I know about the food and drinks for a long time. There is literally not one bad thing on the menu, and the cocktails are excellent. However, during the pandemic, I have been more than pleasantly surprised by Firefly's. They have excellent protocols with mask wearing, temperature taking, and sanitizer and I felt completely safe going there. Our waitress, Vicki, was exceptional and went above and beyond to make us feel both safe and happy. We plan on coming here whenever we can, and just want to say thank you for helping give us a nice place to keep our sanity during this time. read more

Woah! Best Southern BBQ I've had in New England! This place is amazing! The ribs are just mouth watering. I had the chicken and waffles which were just delicious. The waffle was so light and airy! The fried chicken was delicious with white gravy. Pete was our waiter and he was fast and perfect. The most favorite part of this restaurant is other people pitching in! You could not tell that it's a Saturday night and this restaurant is packed! The food came out quick and delicious. Everyone who works there was pitching in helping other people. That's what you really need for a busy restaurant! We will be back! Next time bringing the kids! They'll love all the different BBQ sauces! One of my favorite places growing up. Ive only eaten there once or twice mostly done take out but every time delicious. Love their ribs and all their sides from the baked beans to the mac and cheese. Amazing food, drinks and service. We were driving to Connecticut from the White Mountains and were craving BBQ with a cool ambiance. Went on a Friday night with my husband. It was busy but we were seated quickly. I was there on a mission to check out the food because I had booked them for an upcoming surprise party for my husband's birthday. The food was fantastic! I had a hard time trying to decide which sides I should choose for the party because they were all great. The food was so good that even though I was full I finished my plate! Steve stopped by our table and we got talking about our home town of Ashland with him. He does so much for the town and schools and is an all-around pleasant and welcoming guy. Wow the food is amazing but the service is phenomenal. Dania was a great waitress. She checked on us multiple times and got us everything we asked for in a very timely manner. The manager came over twice to ask us how our food was as well. I was highly impressed. We all got different combo platter and everting was delicious. Very good bbq. Our waiter was attentive and funny. His southern accent helped with the feel of authenticity (he was not faking it) :-) The pros: The kids meals were huge. The chicken tenders were very crunchy and had a wonderful batter. The mac and cheese was homemade and creamy. The sweet potato fries were perfect. We enjoyed the ribs with just the right amount of smoke and sauce. Cornbread not too sweet. The condiment and sauce bar was nice touch. Cons: the pulled chicken comes pre sauced. I did not find any pieces of chicken, it was pretty much chicken mush in sauce. Unappealing texture. Also they do have a variety of sauces but they do not carry a Carolina mustard sauce which was disappointing for me. The price was average for barbecue places. We don't live in the area, but love to find an excuse to have barbeque here. The place is casual and good for children. I really love the cucumber salad they serve when you are seated. If you have a group or a really hearty appetite the pulled pork nachos is great - and it can be even better if you add a little BBQ sauce. They have broadened the menu to have more than just barbeque with Jamaica Jerk chicken, even pizza and other things. But i love the pulled pork, either as a plate or a combo. The cornbread is excellent, and so are the baked beans. One touch that is nice the variety of sauces available. You can get some samples from the condiments table before you order so you'll know what you are going to get. read more

We've been to several eating establishments during this pandemic and none of them measure up to Firefly's efforts to make patrons feel safe. We were seated right away, our server James H showed up to explain the menu, food, condiment bar and take or drink order, I order a pina colada that was so tasty, perfect mix of ingredients, our food showed up so fast I was blown away, it was hot, fresh, plentiful and accurate, we both ordered the combo plate as suggested by James, one with St. Lois ribs/fried chicken and the other with brisket/pulled pork, the food wad amazing! Best BBQ in the area! Oh and the condiment bar has all their homemade signature BBQ sauces ranging from sweet and savory to firehouse hot. This place is out of the way for myself and my boyfriend , i'm from the south shore or mass and he's from RI, but one of his buddies just graduated UMASS and this was middle ground for the 11 of us that attended dinner last night. Parking. a little tight in my opinion. it's a one way in, same way out kinda deal. so there was a lot of three point turns, backing up, etc. which was more annoying than anything. they do offer valet but we were lucky and someone was leaving right after we did our three point turn to get back around. Food. we ordered the picnic for 10-12. it was $190 for 3 1/2 racks of Ribs, 2 pints Pulled Pork, 2 pints Beef Brisket, 1 pint Pulled Chicken, 2 BBQ Chickens, 5 pints of Sensational Sides, and 10 Rolls and cornbread. For our sides we got, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collard greens, coleslaw, and sweet potato pecan pudding. sauces. they have a section dedicated to their sauces and condiments. you can try whatever sauce you'd like. if you're daring enough, you can sign a waiver and try their hottest sauce. i tried the texas sauce and it was a little too spicy for me (my spice tolerance is nonexistent) in my opinion, given the amount of people, a pint of each side was not enough for everyone to try everything. we ended up ordering more mac and cheese and more mashed potatoes just so everyone could get some. the ribs were okay to me, i'm not a huge fan of ribs in general so my opinion shouldn't really matter. i did enjoy the chicken though, i had 2 pieces. the beef brisket though.... so good. probably one of my favorites. so soft and it just breaks so easily. absolutely delicious. i also enjoyed the mac and cheese, just wish they gave more. i made a pulled pork/chicken sandwich with some pickles which i definitely enjoyed. once in a while i'm a huge fan of pulled pork sandwich, yesterday was one of them. i didn't eat the collard greens or coleslaw so i can't comment on those but i did have the sweet potato pecan pudding and i liked it. it was very different. every bite had a little crunch to it from the pecans. total price for everything with tip included ended up being $23 per person. which in my opinion, isn't bad at all. we all left absolutely stuffed. 2-3 guys at our table finished off everything so we wouldn't have to waste food, so props to them. all in all, while i'm not sure if i would travel this far to fireflys, i am glad that i tried it since the Quincy location closed down. my boyfriend had a nice reunion with his friends and everyone seemed to enjoy the food! read more

The portions are generous and the food is good, but unfortunately our server was quite forgetful and we were asked often to repeat orders but were still served the wrong sides. They meant well. Writing orders down might be a good idea. But why were there two dogs without service vests (on leashes) hanging out indoors, inside the restaurant? We had to move to another table due to serious allergies. One dog was being petted by the receptionist and being walked about casually, clearly not a trained service dog at work. Had a wonderful lunch at that fire flies today with my wife and daughter. Everything was absolutely scrumptious. We have been here several times before but never had a chance to meet the owner, Steve. He was a wonderful man and it was a pleasure to meet him. After all the hype, got takeout for first time and was disappointed. Chicken tasted no better than frozen TV dinners with some hot sauce slathered on. What happened to this place? First off the bartender was the laziest person I've ever met. She had 10 patrons and my drink was often empty. I had to flag her down. I was out to dinner last night and as usual the meal was fantastic. I myself had the 3 meat combo with the ST Louis Ribs, beef brisket and smoked sausage. The Ribs has a flavor and I especially like how the meat pull from the bone. The smoked sausage has a nice bite to it. The brisket is to me the best item that Is in the menu. Steve and his staff have done an outstanding job during these tough times. They have their routine down to a science. I look forward to when they can open the dining room again.
