If you go to Tennessee BBQ you're going to get the same exact sauce that fireflies has. The difference the current owner of fireflies sold the franchise made millions on it. Seated quickly and the food was excellent; although I will say the sides were more memorable for me than the actual meat. The macaroni and cheese was flavorful and had good consistency and the green beans were flavorful and cooked perfectly to be somewhat crispy. Yesterday we took out a picnic for 4 with ribs, chicken and sides. Everything including the pick up was very good. We've eaten here several times in the past, and we've been to events they have catered. It's always been excellent. This is the best BBQ place I know of in MA. This place is so hit or miss. On it's best days it's easily a 5. I smoke my own BBQ but when I want a break or a quick meal I head here. Their Ribs can be absolutely fall off the bone fantastic...or they can be dry and chewy. Sometimes meat can be chewy but it's like every other time. Brisket was tender but super fatty. By the time I trimmed it there was half a portion. Corn bread is great, sides are great. Take out service is terrible. No quality control to speak of. I've picked up from there a few times and they've always. left something out. One time they left out a whole tray of meat. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because, it's New England not the south and we really need BBQ. read more

This was some of the most scrumptious grub to ever touch my tiny tongue! So delicious -- I got the buttermilk tenders with my favorite combo: Mash n' Mac! The staff was so kind when I inadvertently relieved my bowels at the table (nothing to do with the food, I'm just incontinent). And they even helped calm down my son from his ensuing panic attack (my issues have rapidly been getting worse as of late, and he is often embarrassed when we eat out). First off - we were hesitant about trying in-door dining for the first time in ages, but we heard this place was taking good precautions. We did some research and they let us make reservation for two parties of four to celebrate a birthday. From start to finish, it was clear they were prioritizing safety and all COVID regs. Parking was a little confusing but it was clear they were keeping groups from being in contact with each other. Now onto the fun part - the food! I love BBQ and this place had a great selection. We did a bunch of appetizers which were all great. The entrees were also great. I had a bodacious bbq bowl that was amaaaazing! Great brisket with Mac and cheese, and other delicious stuff in a big bowl. I took half home but dreamt of the other half all night. The kids had a bunch of deserts - all delicious. The staff were super friendly and very well trained. I can't wait to go back here post Covid as they had a stage for live music and that combo can't be beat. One of the most delicious meals we've had since moving to Massachusetts 5 years ago. Coming from the NYC region we were spoiled for good cuisine and haven't found the Boston suburbs to serve anything worth eating a second time except for a very few spots. Firefly's blew us away! We got the baby back ribs, sausage, fried chicken, and a few sides and EVERYTHING was incredible. The ribs and fried chicken, however, were the stars of the show. Of course if you ask me again in ten minutes it might be the red beans and rice and cornbread. Basically our mission is to try everything on the menu at least once. I've had takeout and catered side dishes for years, but only recently dined in. It was a wonderful experience and our server, Jerry, was beyond awesome. He handled a busy weekend crowd with ease and has a contagiously upbeat attitude everyone can't help but enjoy. I had the veggie bowl and it was delicious. There is nothing special about cornbread but it's kinda overpriced here for the cube size they offer. I picked the wrong Friday to sit at the indoor bar because my bartender was not inviting at all. No greetings just a look and asked if I wanted to order food. I received the menu and decided to order a few sides. Smashed potatoes, corn bread and collard greens. I Wanted to keep it under $20 which is not easy task there. The food came, tiny portions with barely warm potatoes and greens. It wasn't bad just not very hot. I finished and the bartender removed my plate, no "how was your meal" or anything. Just a check. I haven't returned. I might return for the live music, thats it. read more
