From the moment we arrived, the hostess set a positive first impression. They were welcoming, organized, and appeared well-trained, making the check-in process smooth and professional. Unfortunately, the experience declined once we were seated at the bar. Our drinks were served while the bar still had the previous guests' dirty napkins in front of us, and the surface was noticeably sticky. It immediately created the impression that cleanliness and attention to detail were lacking. Our server was warm, pleasant, and genuinely kind. However, it seemed clear that she had received very little formal training in restaurant service. Communication was difficult at times due to the language barrier, and there was little evidence of knowledge regarding menu items, dining etiquette, or professional table service. Her friendliness was evident, but better training and support would have greatly improved the experience. The biggest disappointment was the food itself. While the menu promised much, the execution fell well short of expectations. The dishes lacked the quality, flavor, and attention to detail that would justify recommending the restaurant. One additional observation was the overall dining atmosphere. The restaurant's ambiance was diminished by a clientele whose extremely casual attire and behavior made the experience feel less refined than expected for a restaurant of this type. I generally dine out looking for an enjoyable evening and rarely complain, even when a meal is disappointing. I did not raise any issues during our visit because I prefer simply to enjoy the experience and move on. Great wine list, but one small complaint with all the great wine I would like a better choice of wines by the glass. To start! House made bread came hot and delicious, lived the pineapple butter, but the cream cheese and chives overpowered the good bread, save it for a bagel. I had the filet cooked medium rare perfectly, Yukon gold potatoes so fine had to use a ricer or better, haricot verts perfectly cooked maybe a bit too salty for me. The peppers were spicy enough to make me happy, and I'm a person who likes things hotter than others. The Traditional Caesar Salad - Parmesan tuile, pecorino romano, house made croutons though the Parmesan tuile was a little harder to deal with than I would have expected. The Grouper Special was amazing. Very filling to the point where I wish I had passed on the salad. Overall, very satisfied with dinner and service. This restaurant certainly lived up to the hype! Making a reservation with OpenTable was easy and HIGHLY recommended. We saw some walkins come in who were still waiting for a table when we were leaving. It's just that popular - and for good reason!! The space is huge but divided into a variety of spectacular dining rooms. We had a nice intimate room with just a few other tables nearby. It was perfect for a romantic birthday celebration. The service is magnificent! Everyone is friendly and made sure our visit was beyond compare. A special shout out to Nolan! The food is truly outstanding. The cocktails are a dream come true. I dined here two nights in a row, and had the exact same dishes. The crab cake appetizer was equally fantastic both nights. Served piping hot, it was crammed full of lump crab meat. They were somehow dense and delicate at the same time, great flavor. The grouper special, topped with crab meat and served with luxurious risotto. The grouper was cooked perfectly, tender and flaky. I sampled my wife's filet, it was served with buttery mashed potatoes and a fantastic port Demi glacé. The filet was perfectly cooked and very tender. Service on both visits was very good. I had the same server, and he was top notch both times. The atmosphere was comfortable and classy both times. On the first night I was with a group and we had a private room. Love the decorations and the sign guitars everywhere. On the second night it was just the two of us, so we sat in the main dining room, which was still very comfortable and classy. I really enjoyed getting to try this place. I had never heard of it before when my wife suggested it, despite our many trips to Panama City over the years. It was a pleasant surprise, and I hope we get to come back - though I would not bring the kids here. The food itself was great. We ordered steak. 1 peppercorn steak which is stuff. Its there top saler but 1 person in our table ordered 30 oz Ribeye and that honestly tasted much better. 1 person order center cut steak with a peppercorns and we got it voided cause it was overly peppered and salted that it did not taste good at all and order it medium rare and it was definitely well done. Another ordered shrimp pasta dish and another ordered a lobster dish. They have a waitress and subwaiter ( not sure what its technically called) that help the waiter/waitresses in between. We celebrated our 10 Year Anniversary and our time was so memorable! The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and ESPECIALLY the service, created an anniversary we will always remember. The Old fashioned was perfect, the Caesar Salad was the best we've EVER had. We both ordered the pepper crusted, stuffed, filet mignon - EXCELLENT! So soft and tender. Ended with the dessert trio (chef's kiss). However wonderful every course was, our server, Chad made our entire evening so special. We had the best experience at Firefly tonight! We had a reservation for 7pm on a Sunday night and figured it wouldn't be busy, so we showed up around 6:30 hoping for an earlier seating, although it was packed and we ended up waiting until 7:00 anyway. We sat in the library waiting area which was lovely and a nice spot for photo ops! Our server Chad (and Nash) were amazing, funny, so kind and accommodating the whole time (even though we accidentally stayed 15 minutes after closing!). He was good and made little noise. But the restaurant is quiet and older customers having date night! Actually had a group of 4 older ladies get seated next to us and they immediately requested to be moved. The server didn't think enough of us to even finish telling us about the steak special that night. The other server spilled some liquid all over my leg. We had a hard time getting empty plates cleared. And attitude on top of attitude. We spent $200 and only tipped 15% but would have spent more if made to feel more comfortable. We were happy to get out without having a confrontation because it was an ugly and old crabby crowd. Would not go back with kids!! Even tho its in a strip mall beside a bowling alley!!! We were seated promptly at our reservation time. But I will warn you that the food service is slow, and not because of the waiter (who kept apologizing profusely), but because of the kitchen. It's a large restaurant so they do need to do something to get the timing of the food service sorted. The food was thankfully worth the wait. However, if you're starving or short on time, this is not the place to go. Very good but jalapeños were too mild . Fried Calamari as our second appetizer. I wouldn't recommend that , calamari was too thin with breading Main meal was great for me . I hate to give them 2 stars because the food and service were very good but I don't like to be nickel and dime. When we received our bill from the sever it was one price and then we gave our server our credit card and when the bill came back it was another price. On the new bill it states the menu prices are cash prices. Really? We bought a $80 New York strip steak and we are being charged for using a credit card? Also, it was my Birthday and the server said he would bring out a dessert for my Birthday and I said no thank you, I am full. He insisted and said he was bringing a Birthday dessert to another table so I felt pressured so I said ok. When we got the bill we were charged for it. We asked wasn't it complementary since you kept asking us and we said no a couples times and he said it's your Birthday we got the dessert. He said it was not complementary. Very misleading. They don't offer early bird specials or happy hour in drinks anymore. Our meal was great and so was the service. I recently celebrated my birthday dinner at FireFly. We made a reservation in advance, but when we arrived, we were told there were no tables available and were seated at the sushi bar instead. While the food and drinks were excellent -- truly some of the best we've had -- the sushi bar was cramped and very uncomfortable, especially when trying to sit next to your date and have a conversation. Over 1.5 hours later, after we finished our meal, there were still five empty tables behind us. We spoke to the manager, who apologized and mentioned they may have had no-shows. Honestly, five no-shows at once felt unlikely. As a gesture, they offered to buy us dessert for the trouble, which we appreciated. However, when the check arrived, they had only comped one dessert, not both. If you're going to offer something to make up for an experience, it should be followed through correctly. Overall, the quality of the food would have easily made it a 5-star experience, but the service issues left us disappointed -- especially for a special occasion. Service is 5 stars, no question. Our table got one entree from the main dishes and a few sushi rolls. The main dish, lobster Mac, was fantastic and would get that again 100 out of 100 times. Well seasoned, cooked well and just a fantastic bite of food. The sushi was simply bland. Maybe an off night but with the base (rice) lacking any salt at all, it failed to carry the rest of the ingredients as a complete bite.
