Each bite felt delicate yet purposeful, showcasing both technical refinement and remarkable balance. One of the most memorable dishes of the evening was the bluefin tuna moriawase paired with strawberries. Normally, fruit in savory dishes tends to feel distracting or overly sweet to me, but the execution here was exceptional. The chefs managed to create a harmony between sweetness, tartness, acidity, and umami that elevated the tuna rather than overshadowing it. It was a dish that felt thoughtful, restrained, and incredibly well composed. The consistency throughout the progression of the menu was equally impressive. Course after course arrived with meticulous presentation and a strong sense of identity. Every dish felt polished and intentional, balancing visual artistry with flavors that were equally compelling. There was never a moment where the meal lost momentum, and the pacing allowed each course to feel distinct while still contributing to a cohesive experience. That said, there was one course that completely missed the mark for our group. Looking around the dining room, it seemed we were not alone in our reaction. Interestingly, when we mentioned that this was the only dish we did not enjoy, we were told, "if at least 1 out of 10 guests enjoy it, we consider it a win." Pezzi King has a guest house on the estate overlooking the working winery. The house has 4 king bedrooms, each with its own bath. (One of the bathrooms is across the hall from its room.) And each bedroom has a door opening to the outside with tables and chairs nearby. This worked out great as it allowed 4 couples to go on the vacation. We were together but each had our own space if we wanted it. There was satellite TV hooked up in each bedroom, but no TV in the main common area. Come winter, the fireplace would be nice. The weather was beautiful so we spent most of our time on the deck looking over the vineyards and winery. Two nights we grilled out on the deck's BBQ. There is a full gourmet kitchen if you would rather cook inside; almost overkill for breakfast. There is a hot tub which was used a couple of evenings after dinner. The drive up the mountain to the house after dark can be a little nerve rattling due to some of the hairpin curves. Biggest issue was that the house wi-fi was spotty at best. Most days we couldn't even connect. All in all, we had a good time and made lots of great memories.

Nothing was more than a ten minute drive away and you only need to take one road to get there. There are a series of elegantly themed cottages surrounding a main Queen Anne Style home. Whoever decorated this place is a genius. Every corner has a unique detail to discover! There is a rooster house with all kinds of adorable pieces and an Oak house with a tree through the kitchen! The spread out cottages allowed for privacy and serenity. I've never slept better! In the morning, I woke up surrounded by the electric colors of fall. I also noticed that the estate was surrounded by all kinds of colorful fruit trees and vegetation. None of us wanted to leave! Sweet sweet escape. It only took us an hour to get back to San Francisco! I can't wait to go back!

And they've done an amazing job updating the one-bedroom with a new bath, modern appliances, a large flat screen tv, and even a mini-kitchen stocked with local croissants, jams, and organic teas... But what got me is that unlike so many wine country B&Bs that look cute online and end up feeling corporate in person, the place doesn't feel contrived or pretentious at all -- it's relaxing, romantic, and rustic (how's that for alliteration) in a very real way, which is exactly how a weekend in wine country should be done. Also, gotta love how spacious and warm the place is, even in November (our favorite time to do wine country...). It was just two of us this weekend, but the place could easily host up to 6 with the two queen-sized futons in the living room mean. If you're able to, check out the cute gardens full of local produce all around the home and if you're lucky, you may meet the most awesome Yellow Lab ever. While we were there and planning our next trip back, we heard that they're unfortunately closing for 6+ months in 2025 since they have new owners. We were late for dinner both nights because of the great discussions we had. Briana was the manager on site and she is incredible! She needs to teach a master class on hospitality.
